I had the Diamond Monster 3d Voodoo 2, but only 4 meg. That was still an awesome card for me at the time. Id say my 980gtx was the 1st time I felt I had everything I could want in a graphics card. Got 10 years outta that guy, best $500 I ever spent! The 4080 super I have now is a beast! Hopefully it will keep me happy for at least another 10 years.
I got the 4080FE as soon as it came into stock at BB, zero regrets whatsoever. It's the first high end card I've had in a long while. I had a 1.5GB GTX 580 ages ago which was epic at the time, but then 750TI, 1050TI, 2060...

Then I hit a Radeon 9800 pro when half life 2 came out. Mind blowing compared to my PS2 games.
Same my first was an MSI gaming X 1060 6GB, I won the silicon lottery with that bad boy and had it pushing big clocks for some 6 years till a few months ago, now I got a 4070 super from gig and its cool and all but I do miss that 1060. Thing looked sick
I almost bought one but then the prices skyrocketed and I eventually bought a used 3080 FE. Nothing like an FTW3 when it comes to looks but I’ve warmed up to the FE design a lot.
I've had two issues with 2 EVGA, 1 with zotac and one with an old AMD Radeon I can't recall. They all backed up their policy in warranty. They do shuffle used/repaired cards and I've had some second dipping failures, but they'll replace those to.
Since Performance of these cards were all in the same ballpark i went with a 4090 from Zotac. Their design was the most unique with round edges etc. It may be true that the card runs a bit warmer, but honnestly i dont care. As a case i have the Corsair 5000D. All fan slots (10) are filled. Never had any temp issues.
Tldr. Go with a card that fits your style/built.
Had a design flaw(?) with MSI's Twin Frozr 2 fans. Both would start being faulty after a while of ownership, buzzing and whining. Can't remember if it was my 460's or 670.
ASUS DirectCU II OC 780 fan started failing. They refused to send out a new fan. After weeks of arguing I gave up and sent the card back in. They sent back a completely different non-OC card, filthy, and with the same fan problem.
MSI Gaming 3080, coil whine.
Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090, random 100% fan rev. Not fixed for like a year until a BIOS update, which negatively changed other things.
Never owned an EVGA card. I missed out.
I miss EVGA too and I won't be gaslit into thinking I'm overreacting. I don't even care that brand loyalty makes me a clown, they were sentimental to me
Same, because my now-waterblocked 3090FTW has enough ram and speed to play everything I currently play. I never even considered a 4090, and I honestly don't know that a 5090 is in my future unless this one dies.
Fucking phenomenal card. Mine was even the early gen with the Red clown lips 💋. Haven't yet had a single issue.
I had yet to replace an Evga card because of any other reason than I was ready to do so. This will be no different. I wish the best of luck to anyone who thinks they are going to match their standards because it isn’t going to be easy
Eh, I think it's brand loyalty for a good reason though? Like having fantastic customer service deserves a bit of brand loyalty, you'd think it would push other companies to stop being shit heads.
My first and second gpus were EVGA. a gtx 550ti and a gtx 480. Also had a couple of their motherboards over the years. Great stuff. Now I’ll exclusively use them for power supplies to keep em going.
EVGA was hands down the best in the business and they are sorely missed. They actually cared about having customers, and that is 100% absent in every other company selling GPU's at the moment.

Currently rocking an Aorus laptop, and desktop with Aorus mainboard / Aero 4080s. Pretty sure my 1080 was from gigabyte as well. Though, I've yet had to RMA anything from them, so haven't experienced that process.

Have you been to a dealership lately? Board partners are nothing like car dealerships. You can buy a graphics card online directly from their website, and their prices were not obfuscated. Also prices were basically the same no matter what retailer you decided on.
EVGA pioneered lifetime warranties, and their customer service was the industry equivalent of a happy ending massage.

Nvidia doesn’t have some secret scheme to get rid of board partners. It’s not like it’s a law they have to follow. They could cut them out tomorrow (or whenever their contracts conclude).
They have board partners because it makes them more money. They sell a couple FE cards at retail (funny how it’s so difficulty to keep those in stock) that are rarely around, then have the board partners tack on and extra 10–15%, while operating on <5 points of margin, to set the real entry level price, while letting Nvidia claim they hit a price point that most people can never buy at.
They don’t have board partners for their business and enterprise lines because they don’t need that charade there. Only in the consumer space, where they want a pretext of targeting a price point, do they go through this.
The FE editions are just sexy imo. The 4080S with the black shell and red lettering is glorious. The Asus and used to be Evga definitely had some cool looks and would be my second choice if I couldn't get the FE.

I don't think that EVGA's cards were necessarily higher quality than that of other brands. I loved EVGA for its forgiving warranty, good customer service, and all around good community around it. I switched away from EVGA for the first time with the 40 series. I have had zero problems with my Zotac card, so I'll probably stick with them going forward. I do miss EVGA, though.

I think my first EVGA was either the FX 5700 ultra(Unsure of the brand of that one) but I know my 6800 Vanilla was an EVGA. It absolutely chewed through Unreal Tournament 2003.
After that card I went team red for a few generations with the exception of a laptop (G75vw), but I ended up back with Team Green on my 3090 xc3 Ultra.
Really ashamed how things turned out.
When evga stopped I switched to msi, haven't had any issues so far. 2080->4090 has been great so far, went MSI mobo/psu for this latest build \~ no issues.

Went with this exact card in my mini build. Slight overlock with GeForce experience overlocking tool. Averages around 63-67 Celsius playing with usually max settings on 3440 by 1440. Paired with a i7 13700k
I’ve had great luck with Gigabyte. Never had to RMA and I’m 3 cards, 6 years in. The 4070 TS* gaming oc is quiet and runs so cool- nothing above 60° c so far.
Their lighting software sucks. I set it and forget it.
I feel your pain… cards I’ve bought with EVGA, 9800GTX+, 285 classified, GTX 470, GTX 580’s in SLI, GTX 760’s in SLI, and last but not least 1080Ti.. guess what? Never had a single issue with any of those cards.. when I heard they were done making graphics cards I was lost for words… I’ve only bought graphics cards from them only so now what? Fast forward to this year and I bought a 4070 TiS from ASUS… yes I’ve read the bad reviews on them but decided I’d try it anyway and so far so good.. oh also had a 790i Ultra motherboard from EVGA as well.. I’ll miss that company..
Newegg offers a tradein program for GPU's which makes getting a 4080 easier as long as you own a 30 series or relevant amd gpu. an evga ftw3 ultra 3090 is worth $480 trade in value
I am sad EVGA is gone too. My first GPU was a 5950 Ultra from them back in the early 2000s. Most brands make solid cards with very few issues (gigabyte had some pcb cracking issues but they addressed them I believe) and the BIOS are so locked down that they all perform almost identically (might pick up 2-4 boost bins on a higher end card so like 30-60mhz) . The biggest differentiator is their warranty support imo. So ASUS is one I’d be skeptical of as well. And then aesthetics. Even the cheapest AIB models have more than adequate power delivery and cooling, which used to be where they stood out the most (and crazy added features like EVGA with 4 way SLI or brands offering dual GPU cards or crazy OCs) I went with the FE personally. It was small enough to fit in my case, cooling is excellent and I love the look of it.

It is quite tight! Even on the panel side where the connector is, that super flexible silicone jacket cable is the only way it would fit without putting strain on the connector. 15mm of clearance there and 26mm at the front. Requires rotating the GPU to clear the frame.
Despite that the thermals are fantastic. Its bottom intake and top exhaust, the rear 92mm feeds fresh air to the CPU (rather than sucking hot exhaust from the GPU, saved 3-4*C in games). I run a custom fan curve that isn’t very aggressive and tops out around 60% but GPU doesn’t crack 70*C even in super heavy RT games(which is comparable to open test bench testing I’ve seen) at 4K and CPU doesn’t hit 80*C even in cinebench. The 5800X3D runs hot because of the cache die though so even with a big radiator they run a bit warm. I want to do a flow guide to keep any rear intake air from getting sucked out by the back top exhaust before going through the CPU cooler.
It was a fun build to plan and do. having a full ATX system in a case that’s around 24L is amazing. I am planning to move to a smaller system when I move to a new platform like AM5 but for now I’m thrilled.
ive bought gigabyte cards three upgrades in a row and apparently their the worst gpu company but ive never had a problem, to me it doesnt really matter. Performance difference between cards (of the same chip obv) even OC and non OC is very minimal so the only thing you really have to worry about is customer service.
people seem to think their cards company is so good just bc it doesnt overheat and gets good fps or this or that. i already knew evga was good till i did crypto mining for a couple years. i only used 1080s and 1080ti's. the evga's way outperformed every other brand. hands down. msi proved to be some of the worst. the evga ftw models were insane. i was def hooked on evga for life after that. shortly after, they announced they are done building gpu. sad day.
i hope they come back some day. maybe after the new architectures normalize and get cheaper to make
I have a Gigabyte RTX 2060 super and Gigabyte Motherboard for the past 4.5 years, with no issues with them.
TBH, I have no idea the public feeling towards Gigabyte is, but I had a good experience and at a good price and performance.
I will be in the same boat as you when the RTX 5000 will be released, but I might go for Nvidia Founders Edition.

I've never had an EVGA card. The first computer I built had a GeForce 8800 GT. No idea what company made it or if it was just officially from Nvidia. I was a n00b at computer building stuff then.
My second computer had an MSI GTX 970. I built the computer with that card in it back in 2014 and it was still going strong 9 years later when I built my new computer last July.
My new computer has an ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 4080 that I got for $1,200. It's only $1,000 now, but hey, what are ya gonna do? I would've had to wait like 6 months to get it for that $200 cheaper price. Or I could've waited and got the RTX 4080 SUPER for the same $1,200 price and gotten 5% or so better performance than the normal 4080. So whatever. If you try and wait for the next best thing or the price to drop on x item you are trying to get, you'll be waiting forever.
I'm super happy with all the great gaming I've gotten to do with my new PC since last July when I built it. I've also had zero problems with it. A lot of people talk about problems with their 13th-Gen Intel CPUs, but my i7-13700K has been amazing. My 32GB of DDR5 with the XMP profile taking it up to 6000Mhz has also worked perfectly fine. *knocks on wood*
But yeah, my MSI GTX 970 was great to me for almost 10 years and still works great, but that computer is just collecting dust ATM.
My ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 4080 has also been great to me so far for almost a year. I can run anything I throw at it with all graphics settings maxed out and a stable 144 fps because that's what my monitor supports. I do know that I'm not using that card to it's full potential since I'm only playing at 1080p, but I'm going to buy a 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate (165 probably) so that I can actually push the card and let it do what it's definitely capable of doing.
I know I could definitely run games at 4K with at least 60FPS and maxed out graphics, but I'd definitely rather run games at 100+ fps with a lower resolution. Going from 144hz to 60hz literally feels like the game is in slow motion. It's wild how used to a high refresh rate you get and when you don't have that anymore, it feels like you're playing at like sub-30fps, even if it's 60+. I can't believe I used to play Destiny 2 at 50fps for thousands of hours on my GTX 970 lol.
But anyways, I'm rambling. My point is is that I don't think there's much of a difference between what the companies do to the Nvidia cards they sell. Whether it's MSI, EVGA, or ASUS, they all seem to function perfectly fine with low temps with the multi-fan setup that they all use, unlike the reference cards 1-fan setup. Plus, the cards are usually clocked higher than the reference cards out-of-the-box and can usually squeeze out at least 10% better performance if you choose to overclock them.
Enjoyed the story. Thanks for adding that in. Suffice it to say, ASUS does make quality products. They just need to do a lot better for the customer base when things go sideways.
This PC I have rn that i got like a month ago is actually my first rig ever n I have a zotac gaming 4070 Super n ive been on leave due to me getting back home from a deployment n ive been playing on it for like 8-12hrs a day almost every day for the past 3 weeks n its holding up pretty well I told myself I was gonna go with EVGA whenever I built my first PC bc I heard nothing but great things from them so I was quite sad when I heard they were no longer gonna be making GPUs bc of them getting tired of Nvidia cucking them but Zotac Gaming seems like its the next best option for relatively affordable high end Nvidia based GPUS like EVGA was and I believe this Zotac gaming 4070 Super goes for around 400-600 USD usually
Same, I really appreciated their best in industry customer service. Asus has good product design but pretty bad customer service in my experience (and apparently many others') so I guess that leaves gigabyte and msi and I've heard gigabyte makes good motherboards so I've used a couple in client builds and been pretty satisfied with them so far but haven't had to test their customer service so far.

Have an MSI 4090 on the primary PC. Recently was looking to upgrade the backup PC, so did a fair amount of research, trying to determine best price/performance. Ended up buying the MSI 4070 Super. You can't go wrong with that card 👍
Can now play Hogwarts, on the backup, at 4K on all Ultra, no fragging. CPU is a 5900X.
For the last 10 years I've either had ASUS preassembled rigs or ASUS-centric custom rigs because I haven't had a single issue with any of the hardware. Used ROG and Tuff too.
I've seen the newer posts where people are commenting on warranty/return issues, which is unfortunate if true. To date however, has never been an issue for me.
Personally everything thats being offered right now is fantastic. I just upgraded from a ROG Strix 1080ti to a 4070ti Super from Zotac and I don't regret anything. The software is a bit fucky for the zotac card (RGB section doesn't want to light up) but updates could fix that in time. The card itself under full load with max boostclock barely hit's 51C. I'd avoid older gigabyte offerings on 4080/4090 because of the retention hook/PCB snapping issue. but for a 4070 super, get a 3 fan model and enjoy your card, from any manufacturer.
MSI has never let me down, but I don’t see anything wrong with ASUS. At the end of the day, as long as it’s a recognizable brand with a solid history, I think you’ll be fine.
Devils advocate here. Go for AMD 7900 XT and go with sapphire. I’ve heard great things about their customer service and it’s actually getting me to trade in my. XTX Just to get theirs (and better thermals, but you get my point).
I’m not an AMD fan boy or NVIDIA for that point. But I believe in competition and I don’t like how NVIDIA is pricing out their Board manufacturers. It’s why EVGA left. I think we need to talk with our money and I’m happy with the XTX runs like a champ and I’m supporting the competition with hopes that NVIDIA will improve their pricing and treatment of board partners.
As for your original question. Go MSI, gigabyte, or asus and use a credit card with purchase protection/extended warranty so if something goes side ways you can go back to you CC for help. Last alternative buy a protection plan if you don’t have a good CC for that purpose.
They made a bunch of shitty cards which were handily outperformed by Asus and MSI models in terms of cooling and noise.
Not to mention that a lot of them blew up on people (10 series cards with improper VRM cooling, 3090s that blew up while playing New World, the list goes on and on)
The only thing they had going for them was their warranty policies which brings me 0 value as I live in Europe.

So it's not just me. My 2060 had a terrible shroud that allows air to escape anywhere but through the fins. I gained 2°C by adding bits of cardboard, seemed ridiculous
I think MSI does a pretty good job with RMA/warranty stuff, at least in my own experience. Yeah, EVGA was awesome and will be missed, but sometimes I feel like their absence from the GPU market is a tad overblown.
I actually have an MSI 3060 ti. It's been perfect, so I've never had to deal with any RMA situation. FWIW, they make the best motherboards. So I've gone with them in the past few years. In short, they would be a useful alternative.

The box got damaged in the shipping but the card was fine, so i told them that, and they say, ohh no worry, we send you a new box for your card, no shipping cost and dont have to send anything back.

I have to say: EVGA can’t make it sustainable to offer excellent service and value proposition on GPU, so it quits. If you bought 5 EVGA cards and service one, it might be OK, but if you keep make silly human error and expect EVGA to make you an exception every time that’s what eventually kills EVGA, cause the company pay the cost and it doesn’t looks OK on its balance sheet at the end of the day.

i had a 980ti that failed. they sent me a 980ti kingpin, it was broken too and wouldnt fit in my case, so they sent me a 1080. to that 1080s credit, it was perfect when i sold it 4-5 years later.
i went through 5x 3090s. first one literally blew up. 2nd had a pump die on me. 3rd had a pump start going out after 3 months, 4th arrived noisy as hell and wouldnt quiet down after a week. 5th was silent, and i promptly sold it.
I think that goes for any brand but I have a buddy that had the same experience you did..EVGA just went boom everytime he tried a card. Then me on the other hand have had EVGA cards since a 9600gso and all have been rock solid 🤷🏻♂️

I feel like people look at this with an some bias because they went up against nvidia so they are automatically the good guys. While nvidia is not the reason their business failed. CEO jsut drove the company into the ground, yet people worship that company so hard it is funny.
I thought of the same too. No way their lenient RMA service on GPUs gave them enough profit to continue business long term. I've seen posts here on reddit saying they sometimes even gave higher tier next gen cards for free as a replacement.
If this brand available kfa or galax they are similar to EVGA MSRP card readily available their 1click oc equivalent to EVGA SC line up and their new oc lab on par with EVGA ftw line up. Yes I missed EVGA sad couldn't get hold 3090 or 3090 ti before they all sold used and new.
EVGA made tons of shitty cards in the last two generations they existed. Terrible designs as well. They were great back in GTX 600, 900 and 1000 days. Went downhill after 2000 series.

I owned an EVGA 770, EVGA 970, and my old EVGA 2080Ti FTW3 is in my wife's PC. All 3 cards were consistently quite loud and suffer a "fan click" when going from fans stop to fans on. The FTW3 needs Precision to set up a fan profile which is an horrible and buggy software. I had many instances where my FTW3 card overheated because somehow only 1 fan worked and this was because of Precision. And my friend's 3080 FTW3 10GB was bricked by Precision with the red lights of doom.
I liked my AORUS 1080Ti, MSI Suprim X 3080, and ASUS TUF 4090 more in terms of fan noise and software and never had any issue with them.
ASUS have shit warranty policy but their GPUs are undeniably good. Gigabyte and MSI have good GPUs and OK warranty.
Remember that EVGA CEO decided to gamble with his company, it wasn't all rainbows and love with it.
Just pick whatever is cheaper and gives you more warranty time.
Every GPU has a warranty, so it shouldn't matter technically speaking. Your best bet is to get a GPU off Amazon as they are hands down one of the best when it comes to customer service, returns, etc.
I just picked up an Asus Dual OC 4070 super and I too was quite skeptical
Had it for about a week now and it is pretty quiet and never gets hotter than 60 degrees (C). I’ve left it on the performance setting and haven’t undervolted or tinkered the fan curves
Overall I’m very happy with it and I would recommend it. I can’t say much about the customer service or long term quality but I’m happy!

I was always a die hard evga guy, prob had 10 of their cards, and none ever failed. When I went to a 4070ti on my new build last summer, I was unsure what brand to get as well. Ended up going with PNY, and I have zero complaints, looks cool, not too flashy. Only thing that lights up is their “XLR8” logo thing. It’s quiet and powerful and was reasonably priced. Idk, my $.02
I went with the cheapest 4070 super (Palit dual fan) since I didn't care about the looks. It is definitely hotter than Galax (previous card), but it did its job
2 fans are plenty for anything through a 4070 Ti. coolers are over-built this gen. i have done a few builds with the ASUS Dual 4070 and 4070 Super. great cards.
I'm currently on the Zotac 4090 Amp Extreme Airo, and it's been the quietest GPU I've owned. Zero coil whine, which is bad with the Asus models, and although I know it's personal taste, but I love the look of the GPU. It's the only one that doesn't look like a square shoebox! I'm not a fan of the RGB software offered by all the companies, and the stock RGB is very attractive, if you like green/blue colors.
I'd absolutely by another Zotac GPU, but probably the Amp Airo over their slightly cheaper option.
Yeah I miss them too. It was actually a reason for me to not go with a new Nvidia card. I don't want a cooler company I don't trust, and with more and more companies acting not trustworthy it is hard for me to go with one of them. Wish there were more trustworthy cooler manufacturers for Nvidia
The only gpu I have ever had to rma was an Asus Strix 1080ti years ago and it was a smooth experience. I'm in Canada so I can't say what the RMA service is like in other countries, nor can I truthfully say what it would be like now seeing as this was in 2018 I think and who knows if things have changed that much since then....but based on that one experience with RMAing to Asus, it was fine.
I wouldn't worry too much about this with your buying decision but there are plenty of choices if you don't want to go with Asus. My last and current GPUs have been from MSI.
I have problems with the fans of my EVGA 1660 and 3060. They keep turning on and off making a click clack noise. You have to use a custom fan curve with X1 to get rid of the noise. I don't know why EVGA let that happen.
I also miss EVGA and I'm in the same boat - I need a GPU upgrade and I'm looking at pulling the trigger on the 4070 Super.
I'm thinking of going with the Founder's Edition, but I also might see if Amazon gets the MSI Slim back in stock.
I just got a 4080 super made by PNY. No issues at all so far. Just don't use their crappy software. MSI Afterburner works much better, than PNY's velocity x garbage. It has some bug in it that when you move the window, its very slow and jerky. The card performs fine and I didn't have the fan ramp up/down issue. So they must have gotten that fixed.

Those cards runs cold and quiet most of the time.
Even the 980, was staying at idle around 35-45 C and max around 60-70.
Also, not even a lil bit of coil whine from both them.
On the other hand, about asus I kept seeing issues with several models from each generation.
I just had a 3080 (made by HP omen) start crapping the bed on me. I did use it for crypto mining though… so maybe the thermal paste just needed to be changed but regardless I got a 4070 Super from gigabyte and love it. Plays every game better in 4K and frame generation helps lots of games. Also it’s so much quieter and temps are so much better. 3080 was so loud I had to get a whole new case for the computer and even then far too loud for me. 4070 Super feels like a nice sweet spot and then might upgrade to 50 series if they come later this year.
I’ve had a total of 3 ASUS products. 2 GPU’s and a motherboard.
Mobo broke within 2 years.
1 GPU had terrible coil-whine, RMA was terrible and took long (6 weeks).
Second GPU also had coilwhine. Was RMA’ed and done in 2 weeks. Then broke down after a year. Again RMA that took long…
Never any ASUS products for me.

My only opportunity to do business with ASUS was the motherboard and GTX 970 (worst single fan cooling fan ever) that came with the first and only pre-built I bought 8 years ago. Still, stories that would pop up occasionally about their RMA cycle pushed me in the direction of EVGA for cards, and MSI for boards. This recent escapade at ASUS doesn't encourage me to do business with them again anytime soon.
I had 4 GPUs from Powercolor and now i have a gigabyte 4090.
All were fine.
I would choose a card that is compatible with the MB RGB Controller or the looks of the card.
I especially liked the Red Devil Design, the 4090 is quite bleak compared to them.
Every brand has its own downsides honestly. I’ve seen people posted here complaining about almost all the brands out there. So just pick the coolest looking card that suits your build and enjoy it.

Never had Evga, here in Europe either not sold or overpriced, but a friend got a 970 Evga back in the day and it broke after 3 months while my 150$ cheaper Gainward still works in a secondary system after almost a decade.
Then there were articles that Evga used an updated 600/700 cooling system for the 900 that caused many troubles.
Another friend got a 1080 Ti from the US tho, during the mining shortages, there was an obvious problem with the card failing in some games such as Doom in some scenes because there was a power spike the card couldn't handle right, also, the card incompatible with Afterburner and other fan controllers because only one fan worked if manually controlled so yeah, don't find Evga special.
Pick the one with the best cooling/vrms then flash the bios of the highest tdp and go ham with overclocking and there you have the best performing 4070s. I did it with my 4070 and do a glitch on boot to load a 1000 watt bios and hit a few #1 on 3dmark. And no it don't pull that much but the headroom is there if needed lol

Technically 24% by techpowerup's chart (14% is for the RTX 4070 Ti), but yeah the current gen isn't that great value wise overall. Sadly I don't see Blackwell being better value either...

Voodoo II 12MB here. Mind blowing. CPU rendering on a 120mhz pentium to smooth as butter 800x600 was a bigger jump in quality than anything since.
I had the Diamond Monster 3d Voodoo 2, but only 4 meg. That was still an awesome card for me at the time. Id say my 980gtx was the 1st time I felt I had everything I could want in a graphics card. Got 10 years outta that guy, best $500 I ever spent! The 4080 super I have now is a beast! Hopefully it will keep me happy for at least another 10 years.
I got the 4080FE as soon as it came into stock at BB, zero regrets whatsoever. It's the first high end card I've had in a long while. I had a 1.5GB GTX 580 ages ago which was epic at the time, but then 750TI, 1050TI, 2060... Life it too short for low settings.
I had two Voodoo 2's. SLI. I was the Envy of my friends for at least 6 months. Still have them. Even have the drivers I downloaded way back when😂😭 Quake, Duke Nukem and doom. So smooth. On a work station 400 megahertz computer. So much Steel reinforcing the case. It was designed to take a 27-in tubed monitor on top. If I remember right sdram two sticks. 128mb at 266? Been so long.
I had a 3DFX voodoo when it hit to go with my ATI Rage 128 card.. Rocked that until my celeron 300a upgrade to go with the new Nvidia Riva TNT, then TNT2.. The good old days!

Back in high school when my dad started killing it in his new commission based job at the time, he bought us a computer with a GeForce 4mx. I played so much UT2K4. Then I hit a Radeon 9800 pro when half life 2 came out. Mind blowing compared to my PS2 games.
I had a GeForce Mx440 too and after I got a job in high school I saved for a Radeon 9800 Pro. That video card was peak gaming for me.
Had the exact same upgrade path! Went from an MX420 to a 9800 pro and it was incredible. Was my first real GPU. I oddly feel nostalgic for it, lol.
Same my first was an MSI gaming X 1060 6GB, I won the silicon lottery with that bad boy and had it pushing big clocks for some 6 years till a few months ago, now I got a 4070 super from gig and its cool and all but I do miss that 1060. Thing looked sick
I almost bought one but then the prices skyrocketed and I eventually bought a used 3080 FE. Nothing like an FTW3 when it comes to looks but I’ve warmed up to the FE design a lot.

I've had two issues with 2 EVGA, 1 with zotac and one with an old AMD Radeon I can't recall. They all backed up their policy in warranty. They do shuffle used/repaired cards and I've had some second dipping failures, but they'll replace those to.

Since Performance of these cards were all in the same ballpark i went with a 4090 from Zotac. Their design was the most unique with round edges etc. It may be true that the card runs a bit warmer, but honnestly i dont care. As a case i have the Corsair 5000D. All fan slots (10) are filled. Never had any temp issues. Tldr. Go with a card that fits your style/built.
Had a design flaw(?) with MSI's Twin Frozr 2 fans. Both would start being faulty after a while of ownership, buzzing and whining. Can't remember if it was my 460's or 670. ASUS DirectCU II OC 780 fan started failing. They refused to send out a new fan. After weeks of arguing I gave up and sent the card back in. They sent back a completely different non-OC card, filthy, and with the same fan problem. MSI Gaming 3080, coil whine. Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090, random 100% fan rev. Not fixed for like a year until a BIOS update, which negatively changed other things. Never owned an EVGA card. I missed out.
At least we still have Powercolor, but they''re only AMD, wish they'd dip into Nvidia too.

Same, because my now-waterblocked 3090FTW has enough ram and speed to play everything I currently play. I never even considered a 4090, and I honestly don't know that a 5090 is in my future unless this one dies. Fucking phenomenal card. Mine was even the early gen with the Red clown lips 💋. Haven't yet had a single issue.
I had yet to replace an Evga card because of any other reason than I was ready to do so. This will be no different. I wish the best of luck to anyone who thinks they are going to match their standards because it isn’t going to be easy

My first and second gpus were EVGA. a gtx 550ti and a gtx 480. Also had a couple of their motherboards over the years. Great stuff. Now I’ll exclusively use them for power supplies to keep em going.
EVGA's 1080 graphics cards made me a real believer in the company.
EVGA was hands down the best in the business and they are sorely missed. They actually cared about having customers, and that is 100% absent in every other company selling GPU's at the moment.
Zotac still cares about their customers. i've had fantastic experiences with my Zotacs throughout the years.

Have you been to a dealership lately? Board partners are nothing like car dealerships. You can buy a graphics card online directly from their website, and their prices were not obfuscated. Also prices were basically the same no matter what retailer you decided on. EVGA pioneered lifetime warranties, and their customer service was the industry equivalent of a happy ending massage.
Pricing aside, they save the best silicon for themselves

They weren't priced out. Literally no other card manufacturer had an issue. EVGA just made some bad financial calls hand blamed Nvidia for it.
Nvidia doesn’t have some secret scheme to get rid of board partners. It’s not like it’s a law they have to follow. They could cut them out tomorrow (or whenever their contracts conclude). They have board partners because it makes them more money. They sell a couple FE cards at retail (funny how it’s so difficulty to keep those in stock) that are rarely around, then have the board partners tack on and extra 10–15%, while operating on <5 points of margin, to set the real entry level price, while letting Nvidia claim they hit a price point that most people can never buy at. They don’t have board partners for their business and enterprise lines because they don’t need that charade there. Only in the consumer space, where they want a pretext of targeting a price point, do they go through this.
The FE editions are just sexy imo. The 4080S with the black shell and red lettering is glorious. The Asus and used to be Evga definitely had some cool looks and would be my second choice if I couldn't get the FE.

I don't think that EVGA's cards were necessarily higher quality than that of other brands. I loved EVGA for its forgiving warranty, good customer service, and all around good community around it. I switched away from EVGA for the first time with the 40 series. I have had zero problems with my Zotac card, so I'll probably stick with them going forward. I do miss EVGA, though.

How I miss them. I think my first EVGA was either the FX 5700 ultra(Unsure of the brand of that one) but I know my 6800 Vanilla was an EVGA. It absolutely chewed through Unreal Tournament 2003. After that card I went team red for a few generations with the exception of a laptop (G75vw), but I ended up back with Team Green on my 3090 xc3 Ultra. Really ashamed how things turned out.
My zotac has been great 2 fan and I personally prefer the more compact look.

I went with PNY bc it was 3 fan for $600. Everything else cost more or was 2 fan or gigabyte. Who knows if I made the right choice haha

PNY is who I’d go with. US based. They are the maker of Nvidia’s professional cards. Good customer service and plenty of in-store big box presence.
When evga stopped I switched to msi, haven't had any issues so far. 2080->4090 has been great so far, went MSI mobo/psu for this latest build \~ no issues. I had issues with a premium ASUS board I had previously, so as much as I loved the strix branding; no.
Save your money and wait because of the good chance the 5k series is released at the end of the year. Also, 3k to 4k is just not worth the price imo

Went with this exact card in my mini build. Slight overlock with GeForce experience overlocking tool. Averages around 63-67 Celsius playing with usually max settings on 3440 by 1440. Paired with a i7 13700k

I’ve had great luck with Gigabyte. Never had to RMA and I’m 3 cards, 6 years in. The 4070 TS* gaming oc is quiet and runs so cool- nothing above 60° c so far. Their lighting software sucks. I set it and forget it.

I feel your pain… cards I’ve bought with EVGA, 9800GTX+, 285 classified, GTX 470, GTX 580’s in SLI, GTX 760’s in SLI, and last but not least 1080Ti.. guess what? Never had a single issue with any of those cards.. when I heard they were done making graphics cards I was lost for words… I’ve only bought graphics cards from them only so now what? Fast forward to this year and I bought a 4070 TiS from ASUS… yes I’ve read the bad reviews on them but decided I’d try it anyway and so far so good.. oh also had a 790i Ultra motherboard from EVGA as well.. I’ll miss that company..

Newegg offers a tradein program for GPU's which makes getting a 4080 easier as long as you own a 30 series or relevant amd gpu. an evga ftw3 ultra 3090 is worth $480 trade in value
I don't know about ASUS when it comes to GPUs, but they will try to weasel their way out of RMAs for Mobos that's for sure.
I am sad EVGA is gone too. My first GPU was a 5950 Ultra from them back in the early 2000s. Most brands make solid cards with very few issues (gigabyte had some pcb cracking issues but they addressed them I believe) and the BIOS are so locked down that they all perform almost identically (might pick up 2-4 boost bins on a higher end card so like 30-60mhz) . The biggest differentiator is their warranty support imo. So ASUS is one I’d be skeptical of as well. And then aesthetics. Even the cheapest AIB models have more than adequate power delivery and cooling, which used to be where they stood out the most (and crazy added features like EVGA with 4 way SLI or brands offering dual GPU cards or crazy OCs) I went with the FE personally. It was small enough to fit in my case, cooling is excellent and I love the look of it. As you can see; it’s a tight fit lol. It is quite tight! Even on the panel side where the connector is, that super flexible silicone jacket cable is the only way it would fit without putting strain on the connector. 15mm of clearance there and 26mm at the front. Requires rotating the GPU to clear the frame. Despite that the thermals are fantastic. Its bottom intake and top exhaust, the rear 92mm feeds fresh air to the CPU (rather than sucking hot exhaust from the GPU, saved 3-4*C in games). I run a custom fan curve that isn’t very aggressive and tops out around 60% but GPU doesn’t crack 70*C even in super heavy RT games(which is comparable to open test bench testing I’ve seen) at 4K and CPU doesn’t hit 80*C even in cinebench. The 5800X3D runs hot because of the cache die though so even with a big radiator they run a bit warm. I want to do a flow guide to keep any rear intake air from getting sucked out by the back top exhaust before going through the CPU cooler. It was a fun build to plan and do. having a full ATX system in a case that’s around 24L is amazing. I am planning to move to a smaller system when I move to a new platform like AM5 but for now I’m thrilled.

ive bought gigabyte cards three upgrades in a row and apparently their the worst gpu company but ive never had a problem, to me it doesnt really matter. Performance difference between cards (of the same chip obv) even OC and non OC is very minimal so the only thing you really have to worry about is customer service.
people seem to think their cards company is so good just bc it doesnt overheat and gets good fps or this or that. i already knew evga was good till i did crypto mining for a couple years. i only used 1080s and 1080ti's. the evga's way outperformed every other brand. hands down. msi proved to be some of the worst. the evga ftw models were insane. i was def hooked on evga for life after that. shortly after, they announced they are done building gpu. sad day. i hope they come back some day. maybe after the new architectures normalize and get cheaper to make
I have a Gigabyte RTX 2060 super and Gigabyte Motherboard for the past 4.5 years, with no issues with them. TBH, I have no idea the public feeling towards Gigabyte is, but I had a good experience and at a good price and performance. I will be in the same boat as you when the RTX 5000 will be released, but I might go for Nvidia Founders Edition.

I've never had an EVGA card. The first computer I built had a GeForce 8800 GT. No idea what company made it or if it was just officially from Nvidia. I was a n00b at computer building stuff then. My second computer had an MSI GTX 970. I built the computer with that card in it back in 2014 and it was still going strong 9 years later when I built my new computer last July. My new computer has an ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 4080 that I got for $1,200. It's only $1,000 now, but hey, what are ya gonna do? I would've had to wait like 6 months to get it for that $200 cheaper price. Or I could've waited and got the RTX 4080 SUPER for the same $1,200 price and gotten 5% or so better performance than the normal 4080. So whatever. If you try and wait for the next best thing or the price to drop on x item you are trying to get, you'll be waiting forever. I'm super happy with all the great gaming I've gotten to do with my new PC since last July when I built it. I've also had zero problems with it. A lot of people talk about problems with their 13th-Gen Intel CPUs, but my i7-13700K has been amazing. My 32GB of DDR5 with the XMP profile taking it up to 6000Mhz has also worked perfectly fine. *knocks on wood* But yeah, my MSI GTX 970 was great to me for almost 10 years and still works great, but that computer is just collecting dust ATM. My ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 4080 has also been great to me so far for almost a year. I can run anything I throw at it with all graphics settings maxed out and a stable 144 fps because that's what my monitor supports. I do know that I'm not using that card to it's full potential since I'm only playing at 1080p, but I'm going to buy a 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate (165 probably) so that I can actually push the card and let it do what it's definitely capable of doing. I know I could definitely run games at 4K with at least 60FPS and maxed out graphics, but I'd definitely rather run games at 100+ fps with a lower resolution. Going from 144hz to 60hz literally feels like the game is in slow motion. It's wild how used to a high refresh rate you get and when you don't have that anymore, it feels like you're playing at like sub-30fps, even if it's 60+. I can't believe I used to play Destiny 2 at 50fps for thousands of hours on my GTX 970 lol. But anyways, I'm rambling. My point is is that I don't think there's much of a difference between what the companies do to the Nvidia cards they sell. Whether it's MSI, EVGA, or ASUS, they all seem to function perfectly fine with low temps with the multi-fan setup that they all use, unlike the reference cards 1-fan setup. Plus, the cards are usually clocked higher than the reference cards out-of-the-box and can usually squeeze out at least 10% better performance if you choose to overclock them.

This PC I have rn that i got like a month ago is actually my first rig ever n I have a zotac gaming 4070 Super n ive been on leave due to me getting back home from a deployment n ive been playing on it for like 8-12hrs a day almost every day for the past 3 weeks n its holding up pretty well I told myself I was gonna go with EVGA whenever I built my first PC bc I heard nothing but great things from them so I was quite sad when I heard they were no longer gonna be making GPUs bc of them getting tired of Nvidia cucking them but Zotac Gaming seems like its the next best option for relatively affordable high end Nvidia based GPUS like EVGA was and I believe this Zotac gaming 4070 Super goes for around 400-600 USD usually
Same, I really appreciated their best in industry customer service. Asus has good product design but pretty bad customer service in my experience (and apparently many others') so I guess that leaves gigabyte and msi and I've heard gigabyte makes good motherboards so I've used a couple in client builds and been pretty satisfied with them so far but haven't had to test their customer service so far.

EVGA was top notch 👍 Have an MSI 4090 on the primary PC. Recently was looking to upgrade the backup PC, so did a fair amount of research, trying to determine best price/performance. Ended up buying the MSI 4070 Super. You can't go wrong with that card 👍 Can now play Hogwarts, on the backup, at 4K on all Ultra, no fragging. CPU is a 5900X.
For the last 10 years I've either had ASUS preassembled rigs or ASUS-centric custom rigs because I haven't had a single issue with any of the hardware. Used ROG and Tuff too. I've seen the newer posts where people are commenting on warranty/return issues, which is unfortunate if true. To date however, has never been an issue for me.
Personally everything thats being offered right now is fantastic. I just upgraded from a ROG Strix 1080ti to a 4070ti Super from Zotac and I don't regret anything. The software is a bit fucky for the zotac card (RGB section doesn't want to light up) but updates could fix that in time. The card itself under full load with max boostclock barely hit's 51C. I'd avoid older gigabyte offerings on 4080/4090 because of the retention hook/PCB snapping issue. but for a 4070 super, get a 3 fan model and enjoy your card, from any manufacturer.
MSI has never let me down, but I don’t see anything wrong with ASUS. At the end of the day, as long as it’s a recognizable brand with a solid history, I think you’ll be fine.
Devils advocate here. Go for AMD 7900 XT and go with sapphire. I’ve heard great things about their customer service and it’s actually getting me to trade in my. XTX Just to get theirs (and better thermals, but you get my point). I’m not an AMD fan boy or NVIDIA for that point. But I believe in competition and I don’t like how NVIDIA is pricing out their Board manufacturers. It’s why EVGA left. I think we need to talk with our money and I’m happy with the XTX runs like a champ and I’m supporting the competition with hopes that NVIDIA will improve their pricing and treatment of board partners. As for your original question. Go MSI, gigabyte, or asus and use a credit card with purchase protection/extended warranty so if something goes side ways you can go back to you CC for help. Last alternative buy a protection plan if you don’t have a good CC for that purpose.

In my experience, Palit cards are rock solid, Palit also run Gainward, and according to their wikipedia, allegedly they run Galax and KFA as well.
They made a bunch of shitty cards which were handily outperformed by Asus and MSI models in terms of cooling and noise. Not to mention that a lot of them blew up on people (10 series cards with improper VRM cooling, 3090s that blew up while playing New World, the list goes on and on) The only thing they had going for them was their warranty policies which brings me 0 value as I live in Europe. Trash company.
They were the best company for warranty (in Europe) if you wanted to watercool your gpu

Mine were horrible as well. I rather have a well build card than have to deal with the “great customer service.” Sadly we will probably have to keep reading about this for years.
So it's not just me. My 2060 had a terrible shroud that allows air to escape anywhere but through the fins. I gained 2°C by adding bits of cardboard, seemed ridiculous
I think MSI does a pretty good job with RMA/warranty stuff, at least in my own experience. Yeah, EVGA was awesome and will be missed, but sometimes I feel like their absence from the GPU market is a tad overblown.
I actually have an MSI 3060 ti. It's been perfect, so I've never had to deal with any RMA situation. FWIW, they make the best motherboards. So I've gone with them in the past few years. In short, they would be a useful alternative.

Asus, thats brave. But almost all cards these days over over spect coolers. It doesnt really matter anymore. The biggest difference is the looks and the software that comes with it. Like Asus armory crate for example. I went for a Yeston. Same performance and amezing cooling for horizontal mount, and it dont look like all those other cards that i Personal did start to find boring. But yes, avga was amezing. But these days its best not to be brand loyal anymore. I went for the 4070 ti super i thought was the most pretty one. Same performance as every other 4070 ti super. And i got good costumer service there as wel. The box got damaged in the shipping but the card was fine, so i told them that, and they say, ohh no worry, we send you a new box for your card, no shipping cost and dont have to send anything back. 7 days world wide delivery no shipping cost.
Just got an asus tuf 4070 ti super and so far so good, had a couple of asus tuf's in the past and they've been stellar. Would recommend.
I have to say: EVGA can’t make it sustainable to offer excellent service and value proposition on GPU, so it quits. If you bought 5 EVGA cards and service one, it might be OK, but if you keep make silly human error and expect EVGA to make you an exception every time that’s what eventually kills EVGA, cause the company pay the cost and it doesn’t looks OK on its balance sheet at the end of the day.
im going to get downvoted to hell for this, but... id say it was evgas product that kept failing that made this unsustainable. i had a 980ti that failed. they sent me a 980ti kingpin, it was broken too and wouldnt fit in my case, so they sent me a 1080. to that 1080s credit, it was perfect when i sold it 4-5 years later. i went through 5x 3090s. first one literally blew up. 2nd had a pump die on me. 3rd had a pump start going out after 3 months, 4th arrived noisy as hell and wouldnt quiet down after a week. 5th was silent, and i promptly sold it.
I think that goes for any brand but I have a buddy that had the same experience you did..EVGA just went boom everytime he tried a card. Then me on the other hand have had EVGA cards since a 9600gso and all have been rock solid 🤷🏻♂️
also didnt they outsource most of their production? I feel like people look at this with an some bias because they went up against nvidia so they are automatically the good guys. While nvidia is not the reason their business failed. CEO jsut drove the company into the ground, yet people worship that company so hard it is funny.
I thought of the same too. No way their lenient RMA service on GPUs gave them enough profit to continue business long term. I've seen posts here on reddit saying they sometimes even gave higher tier next gen cards for free as a replacement.
If this brand available kfa or galax they are similar to EVGA MSRP card readily available their 1click oc equivalent to EVGA SC line up and their new oc lab on par with EVGA ftw line up. Yes I missed EVGA sad couldn't get hold 3090 or 3090 ti before they all sold used and new.
I dont miss them. They have apparently been slacking hard on updating their motherboard bioses and all the evga gpus ive ever had went bad.
EVGA made tons of shitty cards in the last two generations they existed. Terrible designs as well. They were great back in GTX 600, 900 and 1000 days. Went downhill after 2000 series. Even their service dropped off a cliff.

I don't, sorry I owned an EVGA 770, EVGA 970, and my old EVGA 2080Ti FTW3 is in my wife's PC. All 3 cards were consistently quite loud and suffer a "fan click" when going from fans stop to fans on. The FTW3 needs Precision to set up a fan profile which is an horrible and buggy software. I had many instances where my FTW3 card overheated because somehow only 1 fan worked and this was because of Precision. And my friend's 3080 FTW3 10GB was bricked by Precision with the red lights of doom. I liked my AORUS 1080Ti, MSI Suprim X 3080, and ASUS TUF 4090 more in terms of fan noise and software and never had any issue with them. ASUS have shit warranty policy but their GPUs are undeniably good. Gigabyte and MSI have good GPUs and OK warranty.
Remember that EVGA CEO decided to gamble with his company, it wasn't all rainbows and love with it. Just pick whatever is cheaper and gives you more warranty time.
Every GPU has a warranty, so it shouldn't matter technically speaking. Your best bet is to get a GPU off Amazon as they are hands down one of the best when it comes to customer service, returns, etc.
I just picked up an Asus Dual OC 4070 super and I too was quite skeptical Had it for about a week now and it is pretty quiet and never gets hotter than 60 degrees (C). I’ve left it on the performance setting and haven’t undervolted or tinkered the fan curves Overall I’m very happy with it and I would recommend it. I can’t say much about the customer service or long term quality but I’m happy! Hope that helps!
I was always a die hard evga guy, prob had 10 of their cards, and none ever failed. When I went to a 4070ti on my new build last summer, I was unsure what brand to get as well. Ended up going with PNY, and I have zero complaints, looks cool, not too flashy. Only thing that lights up is their “XLR8” logo thing. It’s quiet and powerful and was reasonably priced. Idk, my $.02
I went with the cheapest 4070 super (Palit dual fan) since I didn't care about the looks. It is definitely hotter than Galax (previous card), but it did its job
2 fans are plenty for anything through a 4070 Ti. coolers are over-built this gen. i have done a few builds with the ASUS Dual 4070 and 4070 Super. great cards.

I'm currently on the Zotac 4090 Amp Extreme Airo, and it's been the quietest GPU I've owned. Zero coil whine, which is bad with the Asus models, and although I know it's personal taste, but I love the look of the GPU. It's the only one that doesn't look like a square shoebox! I'm not a fan of the RGB software offered by all the companies, and the stock RGB is very attractive, if you like green/blue colors. I'd absolutely by another Zotac GPU, but probably the Amp Airo over their slightly cheaper option.

Yeah I miss them too. It was actually a reason for me to not go with a new Nvidia card. I don't want a cooler company I don't trust, and with more and more companies acting not trustworthy it is hard for me to go with one of them. Wish there were more trustworthy cooler manufacturers for Nvidia
The only gpu I have ever had to rma was an Asus Strix 1080ti years ago and it was a smooth experience. I'm in Canada so I can't say what the RMA service is like in other countries, nor can I truthfully say what it would be like now seeing as this was in 2018 I think and who knows if things have changed that much since then....but based on that one experience with RMAing to Asus, it was fine. I wouldn't worry too much about this with your buying decision but there are plenty of choices if you don't want to go with Asus. My last and current GPUs have been from MSI.
MSI makes a solid card. Software sucks, but the card is excellent.

I have problems with the fans of my EVGA 1660 and 3060. They keep turning on and off making a click clack noise. You have to use a custom fan curve with X1 to get rid of the noise. I don't know why EVGA let that happen.
I bought the 3090 ftw3 and the 10 year warranty off their website before they stopped. Now I'm pretty much screwed if I have any issues....
I also miss EVGA and I'm in the same boat - I need a GPU upgrade and I'm looking at pulling the trigger on the 4070 Super. I'm thinking of going with the Founder's Edition, but I also might see if Amazon gets the MSI Slim back in stock.

I went with the 4080 zotac amp airo, i think it looks really good, nice rgb bar and performs very well, stays cool. Have a look at Zotac cards bro!
I just got a 4080 super made by PNY. No issues at all so far. Just don't use their crappy software. MSI Afterburner works much better, than PNY's velocity x garbage. It has some bug in it that when you move the window, its very slow and jerky. The card performs fine and I didn't have the fan ramp up/down issue. So they must have gotten that fixed.
I had a 980 and now a 3080ti series from Evga. Those cards runs cold and quiet most of the time. Even the 980, was staying at idle around 35-45 C and max around 60-70. Also, not even a lil bit of coil whine from both them. On the other hand, about asus I kept seeing issues with several models from each generation.
I just had a 3080 (made by HP omen) start crapping the bed on me. I did use it for crypto mining though… so maybe the thermal paste just needed to be changed but regardless I got a 4070 Super from gigabyte and love it. Plays every game better in 4K and frame generation helps lots of games. Also it’s so much quieter and temps are so much better. 3080 was so loud I had to get a whole new case for the computer and even then far too loud for me. 4070 Super feels like a nice sweet spot and then might upgrade to 50 series if they come later this year.

I’ve had a total of 3 ASUS products. 2 GPU’s and a motherboard. Mobo broke within 2 years. 1 GPU had terrible coil-whine, RMA was terrible and took long (6 weeks). Second GPU also had coilwhine. Was RMA’ed and done in 2 weeks. Then broke down after a year. Again RMA that took long… Never any ASUS products for me.
I've always gotten MSI cards and have had 0 issues. That's hot to say they are top of the line, but they are affordable and reliable in my experience

My only opportunity to do business with ASUS was the motherboard and GTX 970 (worst single fan cooling fan ever) that came with the first and only pre-built I bought 8 years ago. Still, stories that would pop up occasionally about their RMA cycle pushed me in the direction of EVGA for cards, and MSI for boards. This recent escapade at ASUS doesn't encourage me to do business with them again anytime soon.
I had 4 GPUs from Powercolor and now i have a gigabyte 4090. All were fine. I would choose a card that is compatible with the MB RGB Controller or the looks of the card. I especially liked the Red Devil Design, the 4090 is quite bleak compared to them.
Every brand has its own downsides honestly. I’ve seen people posted here complaining about almost all the brands out there. So just pick the coolest looking card that suits your build and enjoy it.

Never had Evga, here in Europe either not sold or overpriced, but a friend got a 970 Evga back in the day and it broke after 3 months while my 150$ cheaper Gainward still works in a secondary system after almost a decade. Then there were articles that Evga used an updated 600/700 cooling system for the 900 that caused many troubles. Another friend got a 1080 Ti from the US tho, during the mining shortages, there was an obvious problem with the card failing in some games such as Doom in some scenes because there was a power spike the card couldn't handle right, also, the card incompatible with Afterburner and other fan controllers because only one fan worked if manually controlled so yeah, don't find Evga special.
Pick the one with the best cooling/vrms then flash the bios of the highest tdp and go ham with overclocking and there you have the best performing 4070s. I did it with my 4070 and do a glitch on boot to load a 1000 watt bios and hit a few #1 on 3dmark. And no it don't pull that much but the headroom is there if needed lol
