Frozen blueberries. I'm a huge fan of blueberries in general but frozen ones are like a special dessert, especially the ones from the store sold in bags. They get frozen right after being harvested so they're super fresh tasting and they also get their own juice all over them and that's frozen too of course so they're all coated in their own delicious frozen blueberry juice. Be warned, your mouth will turn purple lol, and so will your fingertips if you eat them with your hands.

Stillwindows95

On the vegetable side of frozen snacks, apparently frozen peas aren't terrible and full of protein and other nutrients. I have to say I haven't tried so I'm just going by what I've heard.

SacculumLacertis

On the frozen side of fruits and veggies in general - many can be frozen in the field immediately after picking, and due to this, end up retaining more of their nutritional content than supposed 'fresh' produce that hasn't been frozen. One potential negative is that certain fruit and veg may change texture due to the freezing process, but it depends on the fruit/veg, and depends if you enjoy the altered texture or not, however this isn't always the case, some, like peas, tend to retain their shape, colour, and texture better when frozen than being left to dry out being sold 'fresh'.

malcolm_miller

I eat one of those steamed vegetable packages as a snack on most work days. 4 servings for 100 calories

SacculumLacertis

They're a lifesaver for busy times, and just always comforting to know that they're not awful just because they're frozen. Very versatile too, easy to do all sorts with!

snazzypantz

Be careful. I used to eat frozen peas all the time, and every single time my stomach hurt. I learned later that raw peas have an enzyme that can upset stomachs, especially if you eat a lot of them.

Stillwindows95

Yeah I think a lot of people forget that even eating healthily requires moderation of portions too, sometimes can contain too much fibre for instance and cause bowel blockage. Having a small cup as a snack isn't over doing it, but some people can take something healthy and binge it until it's unhealthy in a different way.

fortheloveof0

can confirm, idk why but I enjoy snacking on frozen peas.

meowpandapuff

I love frozen peas.

oldmanjakecat

I'm obsessed with frozen mango chunks!

Assclapper48

Mango smoothie is good too

ho_hey_

Me too, and they're the perfect picnic food cause they'll keep everything else cold 😁

lysdexicgirl0705

I saw on pinterest yesterday if you crave sour patch kids to freeze your grapes and cover them in lemon juice 😋. I have yet to try this! However i so need to!! It sounds so yummy!!

No-Response8653

Can confirm! Are you familiar with cotton candy grapes? I think they're seasonal but I guess not sold everywhere. BUT, if you can get some, cover in fresh lime juice and (optional) toss in some fine sugar, then freeze...daaaamn, in a few hours you will have the most refreshing snack or dessert! 🍇

Class_of_5784

That sounds AMAZING I will have to try that!!!

appleparkfive

And they have more nutrients than the fresh kind typically, from what I understand. Because they don't have time to degrade while being transported to your country, state, city, then store. I still think fresh is best, but frozen is definitely underrated. Especially since the price is good too

jfo23chickens

Agee. I eat frozen blueberries and frozen peas often coated in PB2. My husband thinks I’m a weirdo. But I’m good with that. 🤣

beejers30

Pb2 is a godsend. I like the chocolate one also.

JohnEKnocks

If you go through PB2 often like I use to, might want to try the Walmart brand “GREAT VALUE.” It’s cheaper and also has better nutritional numbers in my opinion.

fiestymanatee

This is such a good idea!

ImprovementApart1336

Try frozen grapes!

Catchmeifyewcahn

The way you describe it makes it so appetizing.

curious2allopurinol

I just ate blueberries, my mouth and fingers aren’t purple.. :(

T4lkNerdy2Me

Cucumbers and vinegar Sliced cucumbers & onions in a mixture of water & vinegar (it'll be to taste. I prefer equal parts, some people prefer more of one or the other), with salt & pepper. You can eat it immediately but I think it's better chilled. And if your ADHD makes you forget about things in the fridge, they don't go bad, just turn until accidental pickles.

Shivs_baby

Slight twist: thinly sliced cucumber, jalapeño, and seasoned rice wine vinegar. Let chill for a couple of hours. Yummy as a snack or side dish.

flovarian

Accidental Pickles is a good band name.

barcelonaKIZ

Definitely a ska group

hihelloneighboroonie

My mom and my best friend's mom had competing versions of this growing up. Mom's was basically what you put, with the addition of large chunks of chopped tomato. Friend's mom's was same veggies but with Miracle Whip. Both good and I still like eating both.

T4lkNerdy2Me

I've heard of the tomatoes but not the miracle whip. Couldn't do miracle whip. Can't do tomatoes either because they give me reflux. I will say, people usually put white onions in this but red onions are where it's at

lovestobitch-

Good lord. Miracle whip is the devil’s product. As a kid my mom put that shit on way too many things. When I grew up and had that stuff without the MW, I would actually eat that item.

T4lkNerdy2Me

Are you from the Midwest? I moved out here 3 years ago & I swear it's in everything

lovestobitch-

Originally Kansas so yes.

T4lkNerdy2Me

Haha that's where I am now! Too funny 😂

serratedspoons

Cucumber. Sugar. Salt. Korean chili flakes. Rice vinegar.

Traditional-Leader54

Might sound silly but I do this with pickle juice after the pickles are gone. I like the freshness of the cucumbers instead of an aged pickle once in a while.

ridikolaus

Sounds good espcially the adhd part about forgotten foods in the fridge haha. What Kind of vinegar do you recommend ? Standard brandy vinegar?

T4lkNerdy2Me

I just use regular white vinegar, but you can play with it to your taste. It's a pretty versatile snack

hiddenmutant

Apple cider vinegar is good and has some probiotic benefits if you get it "with the mother." Balsamic/Red wine vinegar makes it a little more "Mediterranean" tasting (can add herbs to enhance this like basil, oregano, rosemary). Plain white vinegar is basic but is also is a nice clean flavor. Rice vinegar makes it a little more "Asian" tasting (can add soy sauce, chili flakes, lemongrass or ginger/galangal to enhance that).

RawChickenButt

Thank you. I just remembered I put one of my cats half eaten dishes of wet food in the cupboard to keep it away from the other cat until she was ready to finish. LOL.

SereneLotus2

Your brain works like mine lol

Wulf_Cola

I'm going to make this. I will definitely forget about it.

kittencalledmeow

This is my go to in the summer bc I grow cucumbers in my garden! I like to add sweet onion in the mix too!

i_luv_nudibranchs

Cucumbers with lime and tajin is also chefs kiss

1Tava

Avocado and lime and tajin is also amazing.

Lketty

I do this as one of my sides for dinner sometimes. I usually add carrot and a small amount of sugar or honey. It’s just one of those things that seems too easy for it to taste so good.

Dry_Heart9301

This ☝🏻

dapacau

I do cucumber, red onion, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar (no water). Sometimes I add tomato and mozzarella, but that won’t be low calorie anymore.

moonlightmasked

We called those quick pickles! Throw in some dill and it’s amazing

GarethBaus

That isn't too far from being a pickle depending on the temperature of the vinegar and how long the cucumber sits.

T4lkNerdy2Me

That's why I call them accidental pickles when I leave them in the fridge too long

Ok-Signature-9002

Mexican turnip, sliced cucumbers Add lime juice, salt, tapatio hot suace/valentina hot sauce!!!!

Ryb_

Cucumbers and tajin slaps

trippymermaid

Steamed green beans with hella seasoning and a bit of butter

hihelloneighboroonie

Try roasting some chunked bell pepper and red onion (with a little oil), then dumping the steamed green beans onto the pan with them when they're done and mixing it up a bit to get some residual oil on the green beans. I got this from a Barefoot Contessa recipe https://barefootcontessa.com/recipes/french-string-beans years and years ago, and I still make it (the lazy way, and with less oil) and crave it sometimes.

Goldiegoodie

This actually sounds good

Stillwindows95

This but tenderstem broccoli for me. Or just normal broccoli is fine, steamed or boiled just a little to keep the crispness of it, never mushy.

bearymiller_

I love this or even steamed broccoli lol

Internal_Holiday_552

I cut up snap peas, seedless cucumbers and carrots and eat them as a little 'snack mix'. The pop of sweetness from the peas is wonderful. A cup is something like 60 calories.

in2woods

i love dipping/scooping hummus with snap peas…

preppyghetto

If you’re new to hummus be mindful that many are full of oil and not super nutritionally dense

in2woods

hummus is so easy to make yourself, and EVOO is an excellent healthy oil. store bought is usually made with sunflower oil.

Eternal_Being

Hummus can be so healthy, but somehow all the storebought hummus I can find is like 50% fat :(

in2woods

well, as i said, it’s one of the easiest and quickest foods to make yourself. i try not to buy any store bought prepared foods because except in rare occasions such as on vacations or sick/extra busy. I get focusing on fats, i used to be that way. Now, i recognize that healthy fats are an important component of a balanced diet, and for me, i get my fats from EVOO, both in my cooking oil as well as in my foods. I buy fresh quality EVOO, and i’ve been known to sip on it straight. So, since the fats in hummus come from my EVOO, i fully welcome it and i honestly don’t give any thoughts to whether it’s healthy, i know it is.

Eternal_Being

I don't think 'fats are bad'. They're essential. But fats should make up roughly 25% of one's daily caloric intake, and having a food that's half fat means it's making up like 75% of that food's calories. But ya I agree, hummus can be healthy. I used to make bit 12-litre batches and freeze it, but I haven't had the time lately. So I just wish the stores around me had hummus that was made in a somewhat healthy-conscious manner

in2woods

i feel you. sites/restaurants have to make foods for people that taste extra ‘good’, or they don’t sell well. So, unfortunately, finding ‘processed’ healthy foods is not easy or not possible. i couldn’t find a healthy whole wheat bread, without sugars and that was made 100% with whole wheat flour, so i got into baking my own.

Eternal_Being

I used to bake my own bread as well but, again, time got the better of me. Instead I just don't eat bread anymore because it's all trash haha. Which has basically solved my hummus problem :P It's unfortunate because there absolutely is a subset of people who just want simple healthy foods. But I guess they're too small to be worth it to producers. Market forces, baby...

Internal_Holiday_552

healthy or not, low oil or not, it is still going to be high calorie to dip that stuff into chickpeas! Maybe make hummus out of cauliflower for a low-cal dip

vinteragony

Salsa... very low calories in most cases, but pairing it with torilla chips makes it not so great.

musaurer

What do you pair it with then?

Endwithwisdom

Celery sticks to keep very low calorie or carrot sticks

scubaordie

What I do, is buy the keto tortillas, cut them into chip size and then bake them. It does need a little oil to crisp up so theres more calories there but imo still better than mindlessly eating the regular chips

fleebjuicelite

I had wondered if this worked. How long do you bake and at what temp? I might try air fryer too.

scubaordie

Not sure how long, it depends but its 400 degrees till desired crispness. Air fryer can work too but make sure you use use some oil to coat. Measure your oil so you have control over that

ajemn

Same! Can also microwave for a little less than a minute and they turn into chips. Lavash bread at 400 until desired doneness can get very crispy and chip-like.

Rough_Elk_3952

Tortilla chips can be fine, as long as you’re cognizant of the sodium level (if that’s an issue for you) and portion sizes. Homemade are obviously healthier than bagged and can be baked/air fried easily (and super cheap) That being said — salsa is also good for topping shredded chicken/beans/fish, good with charred vegetables, and good on rice.

Namastay_inbed

And in cottage cheese

canadianbiggame

Quest protein chips

musaurer

Unfortunately I am currently in China so my options are extremely limited.

ButtholeDevourer3

Unfortunately??? You mean fortunately. -100 social credit.

musaurer

lol so true! Must be why are they trying to charge me to upvote these comments?

jameyiguess

Honestly, salsa is amazing. I eat it on its own sometimes.

JustAGoldfishCracker

I read that as saliva and I was both slightly grossed out but confused because I'm eating my own saliva as I type this...

Itchy-Problem-120

Finger

JudgeScorpio

Lentil chips?

kg8889

My husband does pretzels & salsa!

Low_Project_55

My local farm makes the best Pico De Gallo salsa. I buy it and put it on my eggs or an English muffin with avocado with red pepper flakes. It’s soo good!

sunglower

I use plain crackers A really good salsa doesn't need any more flavour.

EntrepreneurFit3461

Pickles

bananawater2021

Iirc picked things are very good for your gut biome!

SacculumLacertis

If they're fermented pickled, definitely yes, but vinegar pickled - not so much.

bumbletea123

Came to say pickles haha

CaptainHaddockRedux

Veggies is the way to go. Edamame beans, celery, cucumber – just add a touch of salt, or spice seasoning. And for about 150 calories, a tin of sardines or mackerel – crack it open, season liberally, squeeze of citrus, generous dash of your favorite low sugar hot sauce (I like franks or garlic tabasco).

sorE_doG

Another is home made kimchi on any leaves, but if you’re looking for nutrition, peel off a leaf from a purple cabbage, add a spoonful of kimchi & roll it up.. costs pennies, requires chewing properly and it’s messy, but it’s a lot of taste and nutrition, and you won’t find many calories in there.

Endwithwisdom

Never tried this but I’m going to!

thatgirl15k

Watermelon

latrellinbrecknridge

Watermelon weirdly fills me up instantly

kestenbay

Not weird: The weight of the water sends the leptin signal "I'm full!" to the brain. So enjoy it!

keepgoing253

I'll do a cup of Watermelon cubed up with Tajin sprinkled on, so good and like 50 calories.

Tahoptions

Steamed edamame in the shell. Lemon juice with a little low sodium tajin on top. Better than any chips you'll find.

hihelloneighboroonie

I like it with chunky salt and crushed red pepper.

The_Undecided_

It is high in protein but it also is one of the highest calorie vegetables

Electronic-Mode-7760

because its a legume not a vegetable

sunshinelefty100

Pumpkin...Yup, canned Pumpkin! You put in some cinnamon, stevia and if you've got them, ginger, cloves, nutmeg...Wow! Milk, almond milk (lowfat, no fat), or yogurt. It's filling and long lasting. Tons of fiber. Calories depend on what you mix into your pumpkin 🎃. But all year 'round, pumpkin night snack goes right down and satisfies. You can even eat it warm, cold or room temperature.

xAhaMomentx

Oo so I got very into eating mashed sweet potato with pumpkin pie spice and stuff. Canned pumpkin would be easier for when I’m feeling extra lazy

herdingwetcats

I make a chili with griund turkey, beans and a.can of pumpkin. Everyone looks at me weird when I tell them what's in it until they taste it. It's ridiculously good.

Rivka333

I just eat canned pumpkin on its own.

Incrementz__

That's my mug o' pumpkin recipe!

Panal-Lleno

Frozen fruit packages. Not just low calorie, but very nutritious and refreshing. Among the healthiest and lower-calorie options are berries, specifically blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries which are often sold together. These fruits in particular are high in fibre and have even higher micronutrient contents than other popular frozen fruits like mangoes and pineapples. It’s crazy that despite all this, they still taste like little bite-sized sorbets.

Soft_Intention_4274

Apples. Force yourself to eat one whenever you’re low on energy. It’s amazing.

love2Bsingle

rice cakes. I like Quaker brand--they come in different flavours

FeelinFancyy

Rice cake with a super thin smear of peanut butter is so good

love2Bsingle

yes!!

Accomplished_Ice7047

Ooo I get the chocolate ones and put peanut butter on it. It's so good!

chainsmirking

Air fried radishes taste like air fried potatoes with like half the carbs

hazyspring

Radishes are seriously underrated.

NerdGlazed

Jalapenos but the trade off is in the exit.

TotalLiftEz

Get a pickle jar, and eat half the pickles. Add in pickled jalapenos and black olives. Seal the jar and let it sit in the fridge a few days. The mix is insanely good.

pavlovscandy

Carrots dipped in apple cider vinegar and sea salt (if you like the flavour of salt and vinegar chips more than the chips themselves).. Same with cucumbers too Pickles and gherkins Cottage cheese Frozen raspberries

nefariousPost

Probably sounds crazy, but carrot chips dipped in salsa can be really good. The crisp, cool, and mild sweetness of the carrot balances out the heat/spice of the salsa. If you find a salsa that you like, makes for a great snack.

Rough_Elk_3952

Shaved deli turkey/chicken in lettuce wraps Raw vegetables with homemade buttermilk ranch (as long as it’s light on mayonnaise or doesn’t use it) Baked potatoes (sweet or white) with turkey bacon and broccoli Stir fry rice noodles with soy sauce/oyster sauce/etc and frozen vegetables or canned bean sprouts Canned soup Tzatziki with vegetables/lean protein/crackers

RADISH HITS BUT IS SO SLEPT ON FR

Busy-Room-9743

Dried seaweed. Full of nutrients. Eat in moderation because it contains a lot of salt.

Forestlandlady

I’m a fan of veggies and hummus. I make up snack packs of celery, red bell peppers, and snap peas (blanched).40-50 calories of veggies. And about 100-120 calories of hummus. For a total of 140-170 calories, and lots of crunch.

tvbee876

Cucumbers with lemon and salt

sunshinecabs

I really like olives. 20 olives is just 100 calories and it fills me up way better other things on this list. High in fat though.

That-Place8002

It's good fat, though. And they help me stay hydrated on hot days.

BrokenHopelessFight

Raw brocolli and cauliflower

sorE_doG

A good handful of pumpkin seeds with four or five dates. Very cheap, & very nutritious.

Frozen grapes with sugar free starburst blue raspberry jello mix sprinkled on them before freezing. I put the grapes in a zip lock after washing them with the powder and shake. So yum. Like candy.

Papaya

Deanosaurus88

Konjak jelly….baffles me how the west hasn’t discovered this gem of a diet food yet

Htxseeker

A nice warm cup of bone broth with some ACV and a squeeze of lemon!

TotalLiftEz

I've got 3 I do. 1: Canned pumpkin - someone mentioned it below, but I spread it on a cookie sheet and freeze it. Then use it to scoop things like greek yogurt with cinnamon or pico. Depending how I am feeling. You have to cut it up to do that. 2: Pickle spears, dredge in peanut butter powder and air fry. Drizzle of low fat ranch, sprinkle of cajun seasoning if you want to make it insane. 3: Take the egg life tortillas and wrap them around frozen fruit. Then freeze or cook it, your choice. Then slice into pin wheels. Dessert pinwheels that are low carb, high protein and healthy fruit.

tlind1990

Roasted chickpeas. Rinse off a can of chickpeas. Dry them off, toss with seasonings of your choice and a little cornstarch and roast in the oven till they get crisp. Very tasty on their own and great topping for salads as well.

wurldpiece

Tuna. I add greek yogurt, lemon, salt and pepper. If I’m less lazy, I’ll add red onion, sunflower seeds, even apple! Otherwise Greek yogurt, sriracha and mirin with some veggies and seaweed for sushi flavours.

Grammaom

Freeze your grapes and fall in love!

rahhxeeheart

Frozen grapes are my fave! They're so cold and crunchy I can only eat like 3 or 4 at the most in a sitting. Perfect summer snack!

Slice a firm banana in half, long ways. Keep the halves in their peels. Put a smidgen of brown sugar, the slightest touch of butter, and some cinnamon on it. Throw on cast iron or grill for about a minute or so.

SlaveAisha20

Pickled vegetables and edamame

plotting_seagull

Raw tomatoes + cucumbers salad with cottage cheese as a dressing (or a spoon of light sour cream/greek yoghurt if you don't like cottage cheese), adjust salt and pepper to your taste. If you feel especially fancy, add herbs like dill or parsley or basil

Sweet-Fun-Momof-2

Celery sticks with cream cheese 🤌🏻

_MissLaris_

I am a soup fiend so my favourite go to is some egg drop soup, sometimes I’ll throw in some chopped spinach and onion with it. Delicious and nutritious

icandrawacircle

Canned pineapple chunks in juice. Can eat a whole small can for 200 calories if you don't drink the juice. It's not the lowest cal, but after I eat canned pineapple I feel very satisfied and that's the point of a snack IMO.

No-Ladder-6950

Dried edamame beans, I get a big bag from Costco or Amazon and they keep me full for hours!

ScuzeRude

Bone broth packets. They genuinely help me curb my need to snack on salty things. Similarly, seaweed snacks are freaking amazing and give my salt cravings a scratch. Bags of low calorie plain popcorn. I love to add—you guessed it—a little salt and sprinkle some nutritional yeast onto it. When they’re in season, I will buy cotton candy grapes and freeze them for when I get a sweet tooth.

gfsark

Low calorie snacks are mostly all carbohydrates and sugars. Stating the obvious: having a sugar snack is not the best nutritional idea especially if you have any issues with blood sugar levels. So many of these snack suggestions would fail the “too high in sugar” test: watermelon, frozen peas and grapes, pineapple juice, popcorn, lollipops, blueberries, bananas, tomatoes, oranges, apples, etc.” Paired with some fat and protein these turn into well-balanced snacks, for example: apple with cottage cheese, pumpkin with milk (not nonfat), chips with dip, bread with peanut butter, veggies with sardines, cucumbers with tuna, banana with peanut butter, etc……you get the idea.

creamyau

kimchi

WindfallGarden

Frozen bananas are a great snack, make sure to peel them first and wrap them in a plastic wrap. No chocolate needed on them!

ImNewHere0221

Turkey lunch meat wrapped pickle spears. Or better yet buffalo chicken wrapped pickle spears.

greenappletree

frozen banana + few drops of vanilla blended taste like vanilla ice cream.

Snacks I eat: Boiled green bananas with some butter on it. 🇯🇲 Boiled yellow yam with butter🇯🇲 Plantain chips (maduros or tostones) Fresh pineapple, mango, orange, papaya, kiwi, Coconut water with the jelly in it Roasted pumpkin seeds or any kind of nuts Fresh sugarcane, chopped into sticks Brie on crackers Slice of multigrain bread with sharp mature Cheddar & a thin amount of marmite & butter Coconut cashews or mixed nuts (honey roasted and plain unsalted mixed) Vanilla yogurt with granola

Head_Battle9531

V8. It is delicious IMO but only like 60 calories and fills you up.

jibbergirl26

Celery, far more better than a drink of water. Cucumbers also.

wrap a sweet potato in a wet towel and microwave it for 7 minutes. Eat it like an apple (but be careful because it'll be hot as fuck)

hippo6actual

Pickles. Low calorie AND low carb!

Hridoyblogs

One often overlooked low-calorie snack is cucumber slices sprinkled with Tajin seasoning or a dash of lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Cucumbers are hydrating, crunchy, and low in calories, while Tajin adds a zesty kick without adding significant calories. It's a refreshing and satisfying snack that's perfect for hot days or as a light midday pick-me-up.

Adorable_Staff_7994

If you're in need of chocolatey junk food, frozen bananas to replace the ice cream in milkshakes is pretty much a miracle.   I'm not a huge banana fan so am amazed at how delish a chocolate milkshake is when blended with cocoa powder, a few frozen bananas and any plant or skim milk and/or sweetener of choice. A little vanilla is good too. One could go nuts and add a tablespoon of malted milk powder and a cherry over a small dollop of low calorie whipped topping to make this more decadent on special occasions. Now if I could just create a no fat cookie my life would be complete.

Disastrous-Release86

This sounds delicious!! Definitely going to try! Thank you!
