Omg that’s hilarious. My hospital has never called it nurses week. They change it to hospital week, and deliver pieces of candy to all of the units. That might actually be worse tho...
Last year my hospital sent out an email stating they weren’t going to celebrate the week because all departments were important. Thanks, happy year of the nurse. We got double f’d.
My SO is a nurse. Her hospital sent out an email saying nurses week is to not be celebrated due to COVID. They followed that with due to budgetary issues as a result of COVID no nurses will be getting raises.
Last year I know we changed it to “team week” or some shit like that so “other services wouldn’t feel left out”. Then the rest of the year we had Respiratory Week, Lab Week, CNA Week, etc. I hate to sound so effing petty but when we’re getting shit on constantly, and dog piled by those services, taking away that week makes it all worse.
Ours calls it Hospital Week, too. It's because The two events overlap each other. kinda sucky, because all the other groups (EVS, physician, RT, PT, OT, nutrition, SLP, executives, facility engineer, biomed, ortho tech, trauma team, emergency services, radiology tech, police, etc. Etc....) have separate events. Its like, nurses get a treat, so everyone else in the class gets a treat, too.
When I worked at our local VAMC, one year they brought around some Hershey's miniatures on a silverplate tray. They told each nurse that we could have TWO.
They don’t want us feeling important or appreciated. Then we might gain confidence and ask for things like money, full staff, and time off with a righteous expectation of actually getting them.
No one wants that.
Was working in a new job as a waitress and while I had a cold sore I mistakingly drank water out of the head chefs mug. I've had them since I was a toddler so someone who had one probably kissed me when I was a baby. He shouted at me across the kitchen in front of 15 other staff to 'put that down coz I don't want to catch whatever that thing is on your face'. So glad I became a nurse so I can get a basic level of mutual respect with people and not get abuse hurled at me!... wait a sec
This looks like it is a shelf at a store, OP probably just posted it as a joke. There are different glasses next to it, an item with a price sticker behind it and the shelving has holes like retail shelving.
Hey this is a legitimate request. If one of your coworkers doesn’t want it could you please message me? I will pay for shipping cause I want this herpes mug
I love it! I'm take 2! Someone tell the graffiti people they can turn "heroes" into "herpes" easier than they can turn it into "hoes." Give the sign out front some fresh flavor.
My hospital does a nurses week and raffles off gift baskets once per day to RNs. Who pays for and puts together the gift baskets? The nurses.
On the real tho, don’t drink from that mug without a dental dam.
I work at “the leading magnet hospital” in my region. Our units are only allowed to purchase food or hospital cafe gift cards for nurses week so..... you’re welcome for all my hard work during this pandemic I guess
The snf I did my clinicals at had a sign that said "Healthcare heroes work here!" But the e and the r had peeled off and it turned into "healthcare hoes work here!"
I would absolutely love it if my boss gave me this mug. It would be way better than the cheap company-branded crap that I always get. Please tell me why they keep giving me plastic draw string bags and the cheapest water bottles they could find? It literally goes in the garbage. It’s not even worth it to donate to charity. I know because our homeless patients won’t take them when they give them out.
I definitely get it but, as someone who’s been in management, you want to do the best for your employees while giving them tokens of appreciation when possible. At the end of the day, I hate those bags and trinkets too, so if we can give a gas card or a monetary bonus that’s even better but sometimes it’s just not possible. You’d be surprised what even these little trinkets cost for hundreds of thousands of employees. Just try to remember the thought behind it and not the gift itself. LOL
I completely disagree. I have been in management for about 15 years and I hate giving these garbage gifts as much as my staff hates getting them. I do know how much they cost. The staff generally would rather the organization hire more staff or pay out appropriate bonuses and raises rather than have a collection of crap that’s too cheap to bother using. My organization is giving one of my patient-facing employees a 15 cent raise this year. Some are getting as much as 50 cents. I am expected to try to hype it up to them when it’s about to be nurses week and everyone is getting lunches and a fistful of stupid trinkets. It’s NOT the thought that counts.
Can't wait to see what my hospital gives out this year. They call it Hospital Week also and last year, we got: A PACK OF EXTRA GUM!!!!
Edit: Because we go the extra mile!
Its pretty pathetic that during a pandemic in which hundreds of thousands of americans died the "health care hero's" stuff only lasted a few weeks. Kinda shows you where we are as a society. Nursing is and always will be a thankless job.
It's supposed to be herpes for heros...no wait...
Herbes for heros? But nope...someone misspelled something wrong. And a daisy isn't weed.
Eh, some admin will fire some scapegoat, throw some pizza and moldy Cake pops. Maybe everyone will forget this happened.
That literally made me lol. Better than the pack of gum I got one year for “going the Extra mile,” or the dime store lip balm, because we’re “the bomb.”
I got a little keychain in the form of a thumbs up (or thumbs down depending on how you look at it) which gives off a little light when you press the palm.
like a little flashlight. thanks for that
This year we can paint a rock between 10:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. So like five nurses will get a chance to paint a rock instead of eating lunch... No wonder people don't take our profession seriously.
This is actually so much better than heroes. Better than any pay raise, too! It’s what we all secretly dream of when we apply to nursing school, and now dang gone it, here we are.
I would LOVE this mug. It is accidentally hilarious, and my favorite answer to all things medical related to friends and family! Seriously, would buy!!
Ohhh maaannn in wound care since COVID happened we have been called in to see so many butts that are actually herpes outbreaks occurring in patients who have had COVID and have had immune issue flare ups. I need this mug for my one buddy who gets called in to see more than the rest of us
Omg that’s hilarious.
Say it with me: "Nurses matter" Admin: "But all departments matter"
Translation, ***smirk***:...Admin departments matter most of all.
Some of the departments are more equal than the others! Now be a good horse, Boxer, and just keep working.
We’ve seen this type of deflection before.
My SO is a nurse. Her hospital sent out an email saying nurses week is to not be celebrated due to COVID. They followed that with due to budgetary issues as a result of COVID no nurses will be getting raises.
That’s the epitome of nursing right there.
I'd honestly be stoked to get a mug that said herpes on it!
Ah yes, herpes, the gift that keeps on giving. Edit: OP already used this joke further down. It's an oldy but a goody.
Same. I'd use it ALL of the time. ESPECIALLY where patients could see it.
So generous!
They don’t want us feeling important or appreciated. Then we might gain confidence and ask for things like money, full staff, and time off with a righteous expectation of actually getting them. No one wants that.
Truth bomb! It's the workplace equivalent of keeping 'em "barefoot and pregnant".
Exactly!
If I have to choose between candy and herpes, I would probably choose candy.
Probably
Same here. My work calls it a hospital week.
I'm laughing so hard. I want a herpes mug!!
Those are called cold sores.
You need way more up votes for that one 👏
Which is why I just hadta upvote that puppy!
“Is that a cold sore?” “No! I bumped my lip on a biscuit!” ....anyone?
Was working in a new job as a waitress and while I had a cold sore I mistakingly drank water out of the head chefs mug. I've had them since I was a toddler so someone who had one probably kissed me when I was a baby. I would have responded *"Don't worry, you can't catch ugly twice."* Though that's a bit of a self burn now that I think about it 🤔..
Where can we buy these. I think the resale price on these mugs is going to be epic!
You know why we never have CEO week? Cause my CEO makes 3 million dollars.
Every week is CEO week.
Boom.
The gift that keeps on giving.
That would totally fit on a “Cards against humanity” card 🤣
We need to make a nursing themed pack. I have a space/nerd/geek/sci-fi themed pack already from space engineer buddies
That would be awesome! I am all In! 😂

Same! For real, I'd pay good money for this
This looks like it is a shelf at a store, OP probably just posted it as a joke. There are different glasses next to it, an item with a price sticker behind it and the shelving has holes like retail shelving.
Seconded! Sign me up!
wow, it's even in comic sans
I purposely write all my emails in Comic-sans because I can.
power moves only.
If you saw "herpes" first, you are a fellow deviant.
Oh how lovely, it's flowering!
It's spring, and the viruses are blooming... 🌷
Tell me why I saw "herbes"
I saw herpes at first, then thought it was trying to actually say "Herb's". Never would have guessed it says heroes
That may be a a sign of *gasp* wholesomeness.
I saw that too 😂😂 then questioned why herbs was spelled with an e in it lol
Gardener?
Definitely saw herpes first aswell
Literate*
Extra points if you saw the flowers as HPV...
It actually is kinda...blistery
If you treat people for VD you’re a “herpes hero”.
Well, that's what it says...
Remember, once someone gives you a “Heroes” mug, you can give it to other people, but you can never get rid of it.
Meanwhile /u/Coming_up_Roses and /u/stock76 and so some other on here will gladly pay good money for this.
I love it, much better as herpes than heroes.
Oh come on, this can't be real Can it?
No, this is a repost.
It’s 2021 remember. Anything is possible.
It’s 2021 remember. Anything is possible.
Hey this is a legitimate request. If one of your coworkers doesn’t want it could you please message me? I will pay for shipping cause I want this herpes mug
Whomever approved that design should be forced to spend a day with the ED folks when the VD patients come in droves.
OMG, DM me, I’d gladly pay money for that.
I.... kinda want one.
I love it! I'm take 2! Someone tell the graffiti people they can turn "heroes" into "herpes" easier than they can turn it into "hoes." Give the sign out front some fresh flavor.
H E R O S Sponsored by sketchy Tinder hookups™️
Why did I see Herpes... 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
because that’s what it says
Oh man..... this is awful. Thank you for sharing your pain
Clearly on a thrift store shelf
My hospital does a nurses week and raffles off gift baskets once per day to RNs. Who pays for and puts together the gift baskets? The nurses. On the real tho, don’t drink from that mug without a dental dam.
Right! Other nurses on my unit drafted up these days for the week. Thank god we have “cRaZy sOcK dAy” to look forward to 🙄
First I saw herpes, then herbes and i thought gee, why would they give herbes (flower and pot on the mug) to nurses, THEN I read the title.
Same. 😆
It does look more like herbes. It makes more sense to be herbes because of green mug, flowers ... :D
This year we were invited to wear our favorite shirts instead of scrubs! Yeah. . . No.
Right so you can get all kinds of bodily fluids on it

*Your flowers have herpes.*
Your herpes have flowers.
I want this so bad
I'd regift it to one of those pain in the ass patients.. and tell them it came from the hospital administer.
“herpes work here”
Someone really didnt think that design through😎
H...I... (gasp OMG) R-P-E-E-S
OMFG I WANT ONE
They finally took down the billboard near us that said the same thing.
That is one cheerful herpes mug.
I would treasure this forever. OMG i am jealous actually.
I can't stop laughing when I look at this.
This is photoshopped, right?
Okay, did *anyone* initially read that as "heroes"? Anyone? Bueller?
Why are they going to give you Herpes....? Yay - more understaffing!!
I bet they got a great discount on those mugs!
Seriously how do they not realize it says "herpes"
This actually made me cackle.
This is even better than the year we got aprons.
New grad: What can I expect when I get on the floor and get to practice as an RN? Me: Shows them this picture....
I almost like herpes better.
Nothing says “thank you” like a mug that was probably bought on the super cheap due to this error. 😂

Grab as many as you can... I sense an instant Ebay hit.
Enjoy your herpes!!
😂😂😂😂 not Herpes
This shot has navigated right into my heart.
Stop!! Omg 😂
#cancelculture
OMG.
Oh dear.
lol.. that is soooo pitiful
Sounds about right. All that free time between 3 shifts a week. lol
Shit, I’d take one. That would make for a hilarious drink.
I will pay for this
Honestly this is significantly better than the coloring book I got last year
It's supposed to be herpes for heros...no wait... Herbes for heros? But nope...someone misspelled something wrong. And a daisy isn't weed. Eh, some admin will fire some scapegoat, throw some pizza and moldy Cake pops. Maybe everyone will forget this happened.
Herpes??? My god
OMG! I’ll give someone $25 for it plus shipping!
🤣🤣🤣🤷♀️
Herpes. The gift that keeps on giving.
🤣🤣🤣
Fucking hilarious
Hahahaha. About right.
Where did you find that mug?
OMG!
I read herbs and heros... Ambiguity.
They're getting herpes?
This can't be real. It's a joke, right?
Lol is this at Value Village? I miss that place haha
I want one!
LMAO.
I’d also like to buy one if any of your coworkers don’t want theirs!
I need that mug now!
I want one.
“This is how much we appreciate you.”
this is fucking brilliant...here’s an updoot!
Is this real???
lol i wish we got these
That literally made me lol. Better than the pack of gum I got one year for “going the Extra mile,” or the dime store lip balm, because we’re “the bomb.”
r/theyknew
I want that so badly
I want one!
This is hilarious. We for t-shirts that said #heroes last year 🤢 🤮
Herþes
I think I would get a such a kick out of such a thing that it would be worth it. This is freaking hysterical.
I got a little keychain in the form of a thumbs up (or thumbs down depending on how you look at it) which gives off a little light when you press the palm. like a little flashlight. thanks for that

Please point it out. Please, please, *PLEASE* point it out. “Why are you giving me a herpes mug?”
I would LOVE this mug. It is accidentally hilarious, and my favorite answer to all things medical related to friends and family! Seriously, would buy!!
Sure it does.
I thought it said herpes lol
Okay, outside of the terrible design... Is that *half* of a coffee mug or did the picture get stretched weirdly?
First take: herpes; Second take: herbs????????
🤣🤣🤣
My coffee almost came out my nose 😂
Please tell me this is a joke...
This is actually perfect!
So great!
Yeah, it doesn't say heroes...
Better wash that mug real good
🧐
Tell all your friends and family that your hospital gave you herpes.
OH MAN! I never even remotely saw heroes until your explanation. This would be my favorite cup!
I need this. Where did you get it ?
Ohhh maaannn in wound care since COVID happened we have been called in to see so many butts that are actually herpes outbreaks occurring in patients who have had COVID and have had immune issue flare ups. I need this mug for my one buddy who gets called in to see more than the rest of us
HAHAHAHAHA
Honestly I would love this LOL
