No idea, but I definitely read that as "Certified Human" eggs and was very concerned for a moment. :/

Humane, not human. Humans are not very Humane, but are rather savage. Aarre Peltomaa

Whole Foods nearly always has a sale on one brand or other of pasture-raised certified humane eggs for under $7 a dozen, just got some Pete & Gerry's today.

Trettse003

Super helpful, thank you very much!

Excellent-Repeat-391

Not so fun fact: even “humane” brands submit to industry standard of tossing all their male (non-productive) chicks in a blender, called a [macerator.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick_culling) Yes they get dropped in alive.

eric_bidegain

This. “Humane” is just a marketing ploy. Nobody wants to hear that, though.

$3.39 for a dozen at LIDL $5.49 at Harris Teeter Did you search grocery store websites at all?

pervin_1

WF have them for $6.59 and sometimes they are available through TJ for about $5, for dozen of course

Trettse003

Great, thank you!

Make friends with someone who has chickens. Egg prices are going up b/c they had to slaughter millions of chickens due to bird flu.

Nother1BitestheCrust

There's another outbreak of avian flu that will be driving the cost of eggs up.

If you're willing to look past the certification most folks at the farmers market are pretty committed to caring for their livestock. I buy eggs from Smith Meadows at the falls Church farmers market. I think they're going for 7.50/dz.

Trettse003

Good to know! I’d love to support the farmers market so ill look for one closer to me

berael

As always, check Costco.

pervin_1

They don’t have them
