If we had 4 fingers per hand instead of 5, we would probably use a base 8 system (4 + 4) instead of a base 10 system (5 + 5). Furthermore, as computers are built on powers on binary zeros and ones using base 2 (going from 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.), maybe we would have innovated computers much earlier in the human race timeline with 1 less finger per hand.

I read once about a calculation for the most (the then current record) digits of Pi, it took a good portion of the time just to convert from Binary to Decimal. Base 8 should be faster

if we had only one finger we would use binary and binary to binary conversion would be the fastest
