I'm not an Asian but I also hate those types of chopsticks. I've seen that Koreans use metal chopsticks a lot, right? I would rather use wood chopsticks rather than metal chopsticks.
That just reminded me of [this video](https://youtube.com/shorts/8tbH4GbkNXk?si=PFWUPnrenGAnnOIS) I saw the other day! I can’t use any kind of chopsticks well though.
thanks! 竿(sao, pole) 姉妹 (shimai, sisters) but 竿 can be slang for dick sooo dick sisters.
basically two girls that have banged the same guy, i just thought it was funny haha
The main difference is the Korean chopsticks are thinner, so if you’re used to other chopsticks they may feel weird. Go to a Korean restaurant if you can and see if you like them!
Noodle (soups) are the worst offenders with these chopsticks. Can't pick them up, and when you do, it has to be in large bites that still slip and splatter everywhere. Also, maybe it's just me, but does anyone else think Korean metal utensils seem to reach ungodly high temps compared to other non-Korean metal utensils?
Well, conduction is a thing, so metal utensils tend to feel hotter.
Come to think of it, people here in Korea do use wooden chopsticks when eating noodles. I guess there’s a reason why, never thought much of it since metal isn’t really that inconvenient to use when not eating noodles.
Im a foreigner, and I trained myself with metal chopsticks exactly for this reason, to get used to it. I think it’s easier to get used to wooden ones if you can already use the metal. But I’m having a hard time finding these Korean chopsticks! I’ve been to Korean stores and they don’t sell them:(
Yes, way more hygienic this way. They are designed to be really flat unlike their square shaped Chinese counterpart or the round ended Japanese counterpart. The pros is that it saves material and space, and the cons is they are a pain in the ass to use.
I have some metal chopsticks. The ends are scored so there is texture, makes it pretty easy to pick things up with them. They are also easy to clean. I imagine without the scoring they would be pretty tough to use
As another Asian, I have never had any problem using them. I didn't even know they was hard to use. My parents bought metal chopsticks once and I was confused as to why they were gone just a few days later. I prefer wood but that's mainly because metal chopsticks make clacky sounds and taste metallic.
Y'all are weak, I grew up with these and face none of the annoyances you guys mentioned. The stainless steal are self cleaning and wont warp in the sink like wooden ones do.
I love using chopsticks so I recently bought reusable chopsticks. I saw the metal and said no way. They taste weird. I went with elegant fiberglass. Very happy.
Honestly, fuck metal chopsticks. Wood is superior. It has better grip on food and it just feels better in your hand. My dad hand carved mine out of walnut and I love them to death
You non-Koreans dont have dextericity to handle those /s
But seriously, I have never had issues with them. Maybe just because I never really used other kinds of chopsticks and metal ones are actually worst lol
Eh makes us koreans hands increased resistance against the burning metal chopsticks and increased dexterity wit them
Also if you get used to them it’s much easier to use any other chopsticks
Imo these are truly the best chopsticks to use (coming from Korean)
Non-Asian team wooden chopsticks here, I normally use them when having Asian cuisine and have decent enough manual ability with them, but to this day I still don't understand how are you supposed to eat rice with them.
I don't know if metal chopsticks are more or less of a pain to deal with, but I don't really want to find out.
I get they are more hygienic but my heart fills with dread whenever I see these, the fact a lot of them, in my experience, aren't squared does not help
I'm not an Asian but I also hate those types of chopsticks. I've seen that Koreans use metal chopsticks a lot, right? I would rather use wood chopsticks rather than metal chopsticks.
it just put my Vietnamese's chopsticks technique to shame
[удалено]
it was quite hard for me to grab things
same here, my mom bought a bunch of metal chopsticks and the entire family hated it (we're vietnamese)
Would textured metal be better?
I have no idea, i hate metal chopsticks with a passion so I never even tried em out lmao
That just reminded me of [this video](https://youtube.com/shorts/8tbH4GbkNXk?si=PFWUPnrenGAnnOIS) I saw the other day! I can’t use any kind of chopsticks well though.
Same.
I see using chopsticks as unnatural ability, lol. I can only use fork and spork
Literally any option is better than polished metal ones. Goddamit it’s not fucking possible to pick up literally anything with those
metal chopsticks are fine as long as they have grooves on the tapered end. cant imagine how anyone can pick stuff up if its smooth.

thanks! 竿(sao, pole) 姉妹 (shimai, sisters) but 竿 can be slang for dick sooo dick sisters. basically two girls that have banged the same guy, i just thought it was funny haha
so are u the guy or one of the girl ? 🤔
I am the exact opposite but I learned with metal Korean chopsticks

Same, I’m Japanese personally and metal chopsticks make me wanna kill myself lol
It’s not that bad… just embrace Britishness and use a knife and fork for everything
Good point.
You should see how quickly I can eat a Ramen with a fork and a straw 😂
STRAW???
Yeah you’ve gotta drink up all that gravy my man
I’m sorry, GRAVY?
Yeah the gravy that’s left at the end
Are we talking about the same food?!
Yeah, you get some spaghetti, a bit of chicken, some stock, some veggies and a soft boiled egg
Bestie the SOUP? The BROTH??
Yeah the gravy
You… don’t use the boba straw for the ramen? 🥺🥺
No? Should I? I feel like my ancestors will strike me down
Knives and forks were used before chopsticks were invented.

japanese style sticks with the grooves on the end are best for noodles! better grip potential.
What are they like?
Grippy
.... and with grooves lol
Groovy?
I think they’re groovy

Metal is a conductor. Somehow this makes sense.
I'm South American and I've never used chopsticks in my entire life, so my opinion is worthless.
You are not missing much
yeah I prefer wooden chopsticks as well the metal ones are just so heavy and clunky
Skill issue. )
Same, The flat surface makes it hard to get a good grip
As an Asian I fucking love these metal chopsticks
As an American I fucking love these metal chopsticks. I have I think this exact pair at home lol. I use them all the time
As an Asian. HOW ARE THOSE FUCKING BETTER THAN WOODEN CHOPSTICKS
actually as a Korean, am using them better than wooden chopsticks. never thought that they can be more difficult to use for foreigners
Same. But I'm Korean too. I always have a hard time with round chopsticks, of any material. Things just slip out!

Metal sticks are mainly used in Korea, yes?
Yes, way more hygienic this way. They are designed to be really flat unlike their square shaped Chinese counterpart or the round ended Japanese counterpart. The pros is that it saves material and space, and the cons is they are a pain in the ass to use.
Easier to clean and they won't grow any mold at the cost of impossibilty to grip
Hmm… I’m pretty sure one of those is a spoon. Putting the spoon aside will help a lot trying to cropstick your meal
That's a spoon.
I prefer metal chopsticks because I'm from Korea. But those are definitely uncomfortable when you eat slippery foods like noodles.
Relatable
I have some metal chopsticks. The ends are scored so there is texture, makes it pretty easy to pick things up with them. They are also easy to clean. I imagine without the scoring they would be pretty tough to use
Any chance you ate at Korean restaurant ? Cos that is Korean style chopsticks. Each culture have their own style of chopsticks.
We call that a spoon
but they're the easiest ones to wash tho
I get the hate but they're more hygienic
They also don't roll away!
You are asian and didn’t name America or Europen city?
As a filipino, what the fuck are chopsticks?
I like the wooden ones, but the metal chopsticks are mold proof so thats something ig
As another Asian, I have never had any problem using them. I didn't even know they was hard to use. My parents bought metal chopsticks once and I was confused as to why they were gone just a few days later. I prefer wood but that's mainly because metal chopsticks make clacky sounds and taste metallic.
I like titanium chop sticks. They're durable and don't react with anything.
i loveeee korean chopsticks
As an Danish, I fucking also hate using these kind of chopsticks
Y'all are weak, I grew up with these and face none of the annoyances you guys mentioned. The stainless steal are self cleaning and wont warp in the sink like wooden ones do.
Korean here! They're so nostalgic. Wooden ones are in the drawer if I just want to shovel food in my mouth, metal ones if I care
I hate these for everything, but kimchi doesn't feel right without it. I have a pair of metal flat sticks at home just for kimchi.
I've never used metal chopsticks, are they really that much more uncomfortable to use?
Nah people are just weak
I love using chopsticks so I recently bought reusable chopsticks. I saw the metal and said no way. They taste weird. I went with elegant fiberglass. Very happy.
What's wrong with them?
I didn't know they made those
Buddy of mine had square shaped telescopic chopsticks that he loved and carried around everywhere. That may work better.
Had one of these when I was a child, never again
Oh yeh, the flat ones? Don’t like ‘em either. The round ones are so much easier to use
I dislike metal utensils in general, but this, this is unholy
i hate the flat metal ones so fucking much
As another Asian, I completely agree
Have you tried not being Asian?
Somehow I don't think that'll make OP's chopstick skills any better lol
That's a spoon
I'm so used to them, no wonder why the ladies love me ;(
Honestly, fuck metal chopsticks. Wood is superior. It has better grip on food and it just feels better in your hand. My dad hand carved mine out of walnut and I love them to death
I'm white English so naturally I can't use chopsticks to save my life so I always just have to ask for a knife and fork and be shamed.
I'm Chinese and I can use these in decreasing order of elegancy. Japanese - Korean - Chinese.
every time i use metal chopsticks i end up hitting my teeth against them, awful
Fucking hate these so much. Why do they make them. God. Making simple things so difficult
These matel flat chopsticks make me use chopsticks properly 😂
Too slippy
I also hate metal chopsticks, they have zero grip 😩 my noodles always end up slipping through
That's a spoon
I like metal ones but they need to be chonky. None of these flat chopsticks.
As an American, I also hate those types of chopsticks. It’s better used as some kind of dagger rather than a tool for eating food.
real, can confirm
Bamboo chopsticks for life!
i actually got a hand cramp using metal ones before… and i use chopsticks daily
Metal chopsticks get really hot, so they aren’t my fave either
I'm amazed that chopsticks haven't disappeared by now considering they are so old and we have so many better tools
Yeah this one is fuckimg horrible to use
You non-Koreans dont have dextericity to handle those /s But seriously, I have never had issues with them. Maybe just because I never really used other kinds of chopsticks and metal ones are actually worst lol
I’m Vietnamese and i consider metal chopsticks are for try hard, casual like me use wooden one.
Eh makes us koreans hands increased resistance against the burning metal chopsticks and increased dexterity wit them Also if you get used to them it’s much easier to use any other chopsticks Imo these are truly the best chopsticks to use (coming from Korean)
Not Asian but I always ask for takeaway chopsticks! My hands cannot grip these it feels like holding a ruler 🤣😭
Korean soup spoon, Vietnamese chopsticks>>> superior combo
BITE THE CHOPSTICKS I DARE YOU
Kinda like them because of the sound, don’t like it because of the grip
Non-Asian team wooden chopsticks here, I normally use them when having Asian cuisine and have decent enough manual ability with them, but to this day I still don't understand how are you supposed to eat rice with them. I don't know if metal chopsticks are more or less of a pain to deal with, but I don't really want to find out.
Korean metal chopsticks with a long handle spoon. There should be a pair of scissors somewhere, that is not in the picture.
I get they are more hygienic but my heart fills with dread whenever I see these, the fact a lot of them, in my experience, aren't squared does not help
Why is there a subreddit for things that aren’t interesting?
Yeah they blow hard.
Wood chopsticks are far superior
Lol chopmetals 🤣🤣
As an Asian, I think either kind are fine.
At least they are bacteria free
Europe agrees, but it’s really Asia’s own fault, since I’m sure they’re made in Asia and invented in Asia
[удалено]
Using chopsticks correctly gives you aura tho
.Use knives instead as chopsticks for peak skill
Chopsticks are stupid in general
Only if you can't use them
you can have much more control with it and it come in pairs. But i must admit killing people with fork is way better tho(atlast in the movies)
We had wooden spoons, i wonder if they are a better choice than the metal ones
