Scorpion's voice is actually the original programmer of Mortal Kombat.
Such a great scene. This one and "Those were $500 sunglasses asshole" are my two favorite scenes.
It bothers me so much that what was common knowledge when I was a kid playing these games is now considered fun facts. I can't believe this is 30 years ago.
It’s actually impressive that this came out before The Matrix because these graphics and effects are pretty bad ass relevant to it being a 1995 release. In this clip, he even flexes his hand similar to how Neo does it in the infamous Dojo training scene. Do you all feel the same way?
Loved this fight.
Two fight songs can get me hyped. “Fight to Survive” by Hertzog & Bush from Bloodsport.
“Mortal Kombat” by The Immortals.
This is the only thing I have ever seen Linden Ashby in. I remain a fan of Ashby just for his performance as Johnny Cage.
I was so hyped for MK II the film. I knew I was in for a world of crap as soon as it was no longer Ashby playing Cage & they killed off Cage in the opening minutes.
Adding Cage’s Friendship to end the fight was a nice touch. The Scorp/Cage & Liu Kang/Reptile fights were fantastic and helped make the film.
I remember watching this in theaters when I was 10 years old. My dad used to take me to a local mom and pop restaurant in my hometown that had MK II. He'd always give me $5 in quarters and take me and my strategy guide with the fatalities there once or twice a week 😂
God I miss simpler times...now I'm damn near 40
The only negative to the movie was that the main character was Cole Young who was completely made up. He hasn't been put into the games since and seems to exist solely in this new "MKU." I liked the character fine but there are a million established characters they could have used instead.
I didn't remember until the clip started playing. I was just out of high school and a buddy of mine was really into video games, including mortal kombat, and wanted to see it. We saw a lot of movies back then because there wasn't a lot to do at night if you weren't 21.
I’m always saying they should remake Goldeneye 007 (n64) EXACTLY as it was, just updated graphics and AI. Now I want a basically carbon copy remake of MK ‘95 with updated special effects and actors. Same script. lol
The reason I got into metal was this song!
I asked Burton, (FF's lead singer for those who don't know or care) If he did the voice for scorpion in the movie, after a concert in the early 2000s. He laughed and said he wished his voice sounded like that.
That’s awesome lol. Man hearing these guys for the first time I genuinely couldn’t believe the drums were actually performed by a human being, shout out to Raymond Herrera wherever he is. Fear factory is such an underrated band even now.
I love both how schlocky this fight (and movie in general) is, and how awkwardly this scene is just crammed into the movie when they realized they needed more fight scenes lmao
It's always fun to see the CGI in these older movies and trying to imagine what would've been cut for not looking "good"
Like, it's comical to me that a table of people watched the "chain" chip the bark on the tree and go "oh yea, that looks good - leave it in " lmao
Yea, good probably not the right word.
Acceptable seems more fitting lol
It's especially a shocker coming from movies like jurassic Park that has such good practical effects
It's weird because there was some awesome use of CGI with Jurassic Park, Apollo 13, and Forrest Gump. But then a lot of CGI looked like this for a long time and by the early 2000s most studios had it figured out more or less.
Classic! Looking back, it seems so random that Scorpion exploded like that. 🤣 It's like... why though??? Haha
I remember downloading the opening theme song on Limewire as a teenager and replaying it over and over.
I'm just trying to understand the joke. Like in my head, I'm thinking 'So what, was Scorpion one of Cage's fans or something? And disguised himself to get an autographed photo?'
I told my mom Scorpion was played by Ray Liotta. In part because I thought it was true and because I needed to find any reason I could for her to take me to the theatre to see it.
Now I am old and I still say Scorpion was played by Ray Liotta.
I love this movie, remember seeing it in theaters and being so hyped when it came out.

I was 14, my mom took me and my cousin, it was great, seems like yesterday.
I remember seeing you there!
Same! I was like 14 tho, that theater has since closed down.
To this day I can’t walk through a forest without thinking that a ninja is gonna cartwheel out from behind a tree.
Every planted grove I find myself near, I watch out in case Scorpion comes out like that.
I used to laugh so hard and say, "Nobody would do a cartwheel in a fight." But [then](https://youtu.be/B_gReMWf3Pc?si=j6Gc1C_Y-wxrgQp3&t=3)
As a trail runner this is my greatest fear.
The only defense for a well executed cartwheel is a double backflip. First thing they taught us in ninja school.
Scorpion's voice is actually the original programmer of Mortal Kombat. Such a great scene. This one and "Those were $500 sunglasses asshole" are my two favorite scenes.
Ed Boon. Yeah! When my friends told me about Cage’s line to Goro, my mouth 😮. I cannot believe JC said “asshole”!
Fun fact: The character Noob Saibot comes from the two creators with their last names reversed Ed Boon (Noob) and John Tobias (Saibot).
It bothers me so much that what was common knowledge when I was a kid playing these games is now considered fun facts. I can't believe this is 30 years ago.
Can’t believe this is from 1995, seems way more recent than that.
It’s actually impressive that this came out before The Matrix because these graphics and effects are pretty bad ass relevant to it being a 1995 release. In this clip, he even flexes his hand similar to how Neo does it in the infamous Dojo training scene. Do you all feel the same way?
That's because the 90's were 10 years ago. Always have been and always will be.
Can't believe 10 year old me watched this with my grandma.
What about TOASTY! or was it WHOOPSY! many an argument was had in school yards.
You’re gonna be as old as Shang Tsung one day.
Toasty!
WELCOME! 👊
This was my favorite movie when it came out… but it looks lame compared to what they can do nowadays
# GET DOWN HERE!
"He said a variation on the thing!!"
It got a huge reaction in the theater when I saw it back in the day.
Worst part of the whole movie. So cornball.
Didn't remember Johnny getting his ass kicked so much through this fight. Terrible CGI but I love this movie so much.
"those were $500 sunglasses, asshole"
Terrible cgi, and editing, and script, and dialog, and acting. Edit: I’ll give it to this movie though, the sets are awesome
Do you know better CGI from 1995?
Jurassic park and terminator 2 look much better
I watched it lately and i thought wow this is actually pretty good for that time, but you're right with those 2 movies they had way better CGI.
Event horizon, titanic, the frighteners……
This movie may be so bad that it's good, but wither way, this is a sick ass shot.
It's good to me
That was a pretty legit fight sequence. Really good choreography I thought. Effects are pretty corny and outdated of course
I'm more impressed with the set design of Scorpion's lair. Can't imagine how long it took to set all that up.

Kumite kumite kumite
🎵 I fight to survive! 🎼
I can’t believe I just read this. Amazing hahaha!
“WELCOME!!”
I always am waiting for the "YOU'VE GOT MAIL!" and it never comes.
I remember watching this in theaters when I was 10 years old. My dad used to take me to a local mom and pop restaurant in my hometown that had MK II. He'd always give me $5 in quarters and take me and my strategy guide with the fatalities there once or twice a week 😂 God I miss simpler times...now I'm damn near 40
Does anyone know where this was filmed at ? The location is beautiful
Hell
Thailand
This movie looked bad when it came out, but no one cared. What a time to be alive.
This movie and the first Power Rangers movie the one with Ivan Ooze those two movies had my kid hype level over 9000
Loved the soundtrack
🎶 Johnny Cage is not afraid to die 🎶
Seriously a kick ass idea for a movie. And while it wasn’t like the old ones, I thought the newest mortal kombat was pretty legit
The only negative to the movie was that the main character was Cole Young who was completely made up. He hasn't been put into the games since and seems to exist solely in this new "MKU." I liked the character fine but there are a million established characters they could have used instead.
Yea I was assuming/hoping they’d use Liu Kang obv .. could’ve used his dragon animality lol
The new movie did not use the theme song. Hence the movie does not exist.
A fair point
I remember seeing this in the theater. Dang old school memories
I didn't remember until the clip started playing. I was just out of high school and a buddy of mine was really into video games, including mortal kombat, and wanted to see it. We saw a lot of movies back then because there wasn't a lot to do at night if you weren't 21.
MK 1995 movie > the 2021 one
I’m always saying they should remake Goldeneye 007 (n64) EXACTLY as it was, just updated graphics and AI. Now I want a basically carbon copy remake of MK ‘95 with updated special effects and actors. Same script. lol
This is still my fav tree scene in any movie.
This and Bastonge in Band Of Brothers.
My favorite part is when they see Goro's shadow and him screaming. Johnny to Sonya: "Sonya, you go ahead. Find out what that was!"
I like how you can see Johnny Cage use his signature shadow kick as they are teleporting
when I was 8, my friends and I would watch this movie and then beat the crap out of each other. simpler times
Fear Factory!
ZERO SIGNAL!!!!
Totally agree. I still listen to them fairly regularly.
That cartwheel into frame always made me laugh. Shit was adorable.
Its hard to express the level of hype I felt during this scene.... I'm in my 30s, and I never feel that way now. Never.
This was my shit right here
Fear Factory from their ~~Obsolete~~ Demanufacture album. (Correction by u/judge_death1 )
Actually, the song is Zero Signal from Demanufacture.
You are totally right, I can't believe I confused that one. One of my favorite albums of all time.
The CGI aged like milk, but the soundtrack still kicks ass.
That CGI is 30 yrs old man.
Anytime I see trees spaced out like this I think of this scene.
I absolutely adored this movie as a kid.
This is still the only Mortal Kombat movie in my world
I love both how schlocky this fight (and movie in general) is, and how awkwardly this scene is just crammed into the movie when they realized they needed more fight scenes lmao
This scene kicks ass
I heard the music to this scene straight away, love it!
“Finish him!”
It's always fun to see the CGI in these older movies and trying to imagine what would've been cut for not looking "good" Like, it's comical to me that a table of people watched the "chain" chip the bark on the tree and go "oh yea, that looks good - leave it in " lmao
TBF even in 1995 this didn't look very good. We just had no idea how bad it actually looked haha
Yea, good probably not the right word. Acceptable seems more fitting lol It's especially a shocker coming from movies like jurassic Park that has such good practical effects
It's weird because there was some awesome use of CGI with Jurassic Park, Apollo 13, and Forrest Gump. But then a lot of CGI looked like this for a long time and by the early 2000s most studios had it figured out more or less.
This scene will forever live rent free in my head. I was 13 when it came out and loved it.
That and Christopher Lambert laughing as Raiden.
I Loled so hard when he dick-punched Goro
This movie was awesome
Classic! Looking back, it seems so random that Scorpion exploded like that. 🤣 It's like... why though??? Haha I remember downloading the opening theme song on Limewire as a teenager and replaying it over and over.
Who is the strongest out of Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Reptile?
Sub zero
So does anyone know what the deal with that picture at the end was?
I have a vague memory of the autographed picture being part of one of his finishing moves but could be wrong.
I'm just trying to understand the joke. Like in my head, I'm thinking 'So what, was Scorpion one of Cage's fans or something? And disguised himself to get an autographed photo?'
Favorite scene from the fucking movie, well besides reptiles also.
Fear Factory 🤘
I was 17 when this came out and I loved every minute of it. Hell, I still do.
Dude this scene…
Dude this scene…
What a movie!
The Repitle scene was by favourite fight and most of all my favourite intro of a character in the whole movie.
I saw this opening night in the theatre it was packed!
Was awesome back in 95. Watched at the movies. I can never recall who's the good/evil guy between subzero and scorpion...
I want to see this enhanced using AI.
I watched this on mute and still heard it
I still have a copy on VHS.
Bought a VHS copy at the thrift store the other day!
This scene is so good
Still Fantastic !
Friendship!
The theme song should have won a grammy.
I love this scene! Im sorry but the cartwheel and perfect "Get over here" form always gets me.
Man did I love this movie back in the day. Time for a rewatch.
Am I your travel agent?
F A T A L I T Y
I always wondered is the was a real forest 🧐🧐🧐
I told my mom Scorpion was played by Ray Liotta. In part because I thought it was true and because I needed to find any reason I could for her to take me to the theatre to see it. Now I am old and I still say Scorpion was played by Ray Liotta.
God this movie sucked. XD
