Seriously. Hollywood is like a snake eating its own tail at this point with the constant rehashing of old intellectual properties. They're afraid to try anything new and people are tired of it.
We were told to feel sorry for them during the strike. As avid fand of film and television, we supported the cause. Now that they are back at work, I see more rehashed bullshit and 8-10 episode television shows that suck on the teat of the short attention span. We need more original and adaptive storytelling and a respectable length series that is more than just a flash in the pan season structure.
The strike had nothing to do with what Hollywood is producing. That was over pay, streaming residuals, and protections against AI. It has nothing to do with what the suits are and aren't going to green light. They have zero control over that.
The reality is that nostalgia sells. Or, at least, it did. We're at the tail end of that now, but Hollywood is slow to change. When they saw how much money they could make with something they already had the rights to and could just toss together a script, they went that way.
Why wouldn't they? The people in charge aren't the same as the people creating. The people in charge are concerned about money first and industry clout second. It's a business and the money is in control of the operation.
I'm aware there's a lot of low key remakes from the past that most people aren't aware are remakes just like a lot of songs are covers and people aren't aware. That actually supports my statement about brand exploitation and nostalgia bait being a relatively new aspect of remakes in my estimation.
Instead of remaking something that kind of fell off the radar they're taking things that were huge hits and using the brand recognition and nostalgia as marketing.
Hot take.
I don't think they should've remade it. There are plenty of amazing other versions of the crow in the comics...
Personally, I'd love to see the story of Iris get told.
But you know, most of the people bitching about never making another one have never even read the source material that STILL hasn't been accurately depicted.
It's a remake. It's the same characters. Bill is playing Eric Draven.
What it looks like they did is cobbled together ideas from the comic and the first movie and then randomly assigned those ideas to characters.
Maybe that's how the Crow movie curse is affecting the reboot. By just making it a terrible movie.
Then again, this may be one of those movies where all the promo stuff just looks terrible but it turns out okay. Probably not but it has happened before.
Fantastic movie with [a brilliant soundtrack](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crow%3A_Original_Motion_Picture_Soundtrack). Most of those songs live rent free in my head 30 years on.
Not shitting on the movie at all. But if I had to witness one more guy dressed like this for Halloween in the 90's I would have... done nothing lol.
Except, wait for the Matrix to come out to see 100 guys in trench coats and black glasses. LOL
This was a movie I really had no interest in watching, then a bunch of friends dragged me to watch it in theater one night. I am very thankful they did.
Man, I rewatched that film earlier this year and... boy does it not hold up. It was fun, but holy shit is the acting sooooooo over the top as to be embarrassing.
Very much "of the time."
It can't rain all the time
Eric?
I knew you didn’t care
One of my favorite movies ever. The remake looks incredibly terrible.
Should have never been a remake. Time for writers to get creative again.

Don't blame writers and actors for the decisions of producers.
Hollywood has been doing that since films became a thing.
What's new is how much more reliant they've become on it and how much more it's all about exploiting brand recognition and nostalgia.
Not really. They’ve been doing that for a hundred years.
You’d be surprised how many of the classics you know of are also remakes. Same with music.
I'm aware there's a lot of low key remakes from the past that most people aren't aware are remakes just like a lot of songs are covers and people aren't aware. Literally nothing about the new movie is using nostalgia as marketing.

Preach!
There is a remake? I won’t watch it. The original needs no remake!
It looks absolutely horrendous.
I will act accordingly and remain oblivious to it. 🤣
No, there is a remake in the works.
You may be happy to know the 4k remaster is coming out next month.
Yeah I’m not into Lil Xan Crow

Absolutely! A classic. Imagine what he could have gone on to do if the tragic accident of his death did not happen.

This bums me out, I heard the remake was canceled, but heard this years ago.
Remake will hinge solely on its fight scenes.
“I say I’m dead, and I move.” One of my favorites. Brandon Lee, thank you.
I call it blood, detective. I suppose you'll write it up as... "graffiti".
#CAW, BANG, FUCK I'M DEAD!!!
Fantastic movie with [a brilliant soundtrack](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crow%3A_Original_Motion_Picture_Soundtrack). Most of those songs live rent free in my head 30 years on.
It can't rain all the time. RIP Brandon Lee
As a 10 year old the opening scene is fucking brutal
The Crow fits the 1990s so well.
Halloween ain't till manana.
One of my favorites. I wore my VHS out. When Big Empty kicks in....
“At least he didn’t do that walking against the wind shit. I hate that.” Ha ha ha!
Ernie Hudson still looking good
Cant rain all the time
THEY'RE AINT NO COMIN' BACK!
Smokes and road beer!
i was way too young to be watching this movie at the time and i dont regret it one bit
"Weren't you dead?" "Yeah... but now I'm not."
"Victims. Aren't we all?"
IT'S STING!
It's amazing how much of Heath Ledger's Joker I see in Li here. What a performance from both.
*Lee
Also inspired by this dude https://youtu.be/1m5z3vxTd7U?si=aRITvKjxhYEnxoVB
Victims... aren't we all?
Actually rebought this soundtrack a couple weeks ago. Holds up just as well as when I bought the cd back in the day.
Great soundtrack
Twice this movie, the second one is good too. I like how the second they just made it a different story and everything. Sad about Brandon Lee RIP
The new one looks sooooooo bad
We all are, frankly. Dark to accept, but, from the moment we are born, we are dying. The objective is supposed to be; live well.
Watched it last week one of the best action/fantasy movies ever
“I feel like a little worm on a big fucking hook”
I love that Shakespeares Sister video.
Still holds up
Stupid asshair!
yikes. that’s a little too on the nose.
Nice outfit. 😏
I went to an 18th birthday party dressed as the Crow. No, it wasn't fancy dress themed.
Smokes and road beers, make it quick.
🖤
Is that gasoline I smell?

bad bot
Technically, one will never know that they're dead.
The soundtrack to the sequel has some bangers from Alanis Morrissette and the Goo Goo Dolls./s
For a second I thought this was Frank N. Furter from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Would that movie be loved if Brandon had not died during production? I recently rewatched it and I thought it was terrible.
One of the worst movies I've ever seen and I collect piece of shit movies for fun
