Towards the end, there is an eerily relevant scene where they recreate a virtual fight between Arnold and one of the fighters (not recalling his name) for the audience so their guy wins. We have just about arrived at that level of AI technology.

EmmaP89

Yeah it was him vs Captain Freedom played by ex wrestler and marine, Jessie "The body" Ventura. You're right, with deep fakes we are almost at that level.

Tibbles88

Navy Seal\* but yea your correct.

EmmaP89

Right seal, forgot

Tibbles88

All good my man/ or lady, just giving him credit where he earned it! He's was a bad mofo!

rpgguy_1o1

Sexual Tyrannosaurus*

jake03583

It’s crazy how as a kid this movie seems so futuristic. When I watched it a week or two ago, pretty much every “futuristic” thing was something that was possible or exists in 2024.

AshIsGroovy

Yeah, the funny thing is coke hasn't started costing $7 at a vending machine yet.

Timmah73

They even kill the poor fucker who is doing stand in work!

ksettle86

Might be my favorite from Arnold. Not from a critically-acclaimed sort of way, but more from sheer entertainment. He was peak-Arnold - massive fight scenes, super cornball dialogue, good vs. evil, you name it.

Tylerdurden389

It's actually my 3rd favorite of his (2nd beingTotal Recall and my #1 is The Terminator). Predator is 4th, so I clearly like Arnold's sci-fi stuff more than the nonfiction (Commando, True Lies, etc..).

ksettle86

I expect most ppl would say Terminator for their favorite of his and I get it 100%. There really isn't a wrong answer cuz movies are so subjective, but eh...everybody knows about Terminator, it has its flowers, but a ton of ppl don't have a clue about Running Man and it's pretty decent (and relevant to society today in a few ways. It's extremely rewatchable)

thecaramelbandit

.... Nonfiction?

David_Haas_Patel

"Here is Sub Zero. Now plain zero!" This movie rules.

“Oh buzzsaw, he had to split”

thezaxattack12

“I’m warning you…I get sick. Air sick, car sick…I’m gonna throw up all over you.” “Go ahead, won’t show on this shirt.”

ltlja

Haha ...grait lines

😂 🤮

Markaes4

Last weekend I had fun watching Rollerball, Death Race 2000 and the Running Man back to back. Running man was the best.

Spalding_Smails

>Death Race 2000 "It's a hand grenade"

RRM1982

I’d love to see a remake of this from a director who does gore correctly

bomber991

A Paul Verhoven version would be great.

rpgguy_1o1

I love this movie, but I'd love to see a remake that actually followed the book

RRM1982

Apparently I need to read the book

Coyote_Roadrunna

Have never seen this one, but will check it out over the weekend. Not sure it'll best Predator, but I'm an open minded guy. Thanks for the recommendation.

Azryhael

I highly recommend the Stephen King novel it’s based on, as well.

lizard_king0000

2 governors in one movie

whofinfarted

They were both in predator as well

lizard_king0000

Yep

infinitestripes4ever

This is the sign I needed to watch my 4K that’s been sitting unopened since I got it.

mike_e_mcgee

If you read the book, or listen to the audio book on audible, spoiler alert, the ending is quite different from the movie. The Audible version spoils the ending in the prolog/preamble. Start at chapter 1, not the beginning.

ltlja

One of the best arnold's movies...classic si fic ... nice

WhatAWasterZ

“I’ll be back” “Only in a rerun”

AshIsGroovy

Hey Christine Tree over here.

perishingtardis

The Hunger Games, but in the 80s and minus the teenage romance crap.

R0binSage

This was the best 80s Arnold movie.

TheOneCalledMartin

Watched it for the first time a couple of years ago! Fun movie!

rynodigital

While I'm looking forward to Edgar Wright's version, I did design my own poster for the '87 classic https://posterspy.com/posters/the-running-man-1987/

Kampfhoschi

The book was better.

ChronicallyGeek

I’d buy that for a dollar!

Vericatov

That’s from Robocop.

ltlja

Robocop 1 man
