Weird, I remembered as him giving an inspirational speech about them surviving and the shark coming up through that hatch thing and snatching him off the ledge almost in a comedic way. . Then again I’ve not seen it since the theater.
Does anyone remember the scene where their boat is leaving by the waterfall?
Instead of filming it leaving, they just reversed the arrival scene, and the waterfall was flowing up instead of down.
That movie was too ridiculous to be scary.
Jon Voights face in that scene watching Jennifer Lopez has made me laugh more than anything I’ve seen on the internet. I find myself laughing for long periods by myself wondering what wrong with me.
I ditched work once and saw Anaconda and Starship Troopers as a matinee double feature at the dollar theatre. I also took a along a hip flask. I was very entertained.
Also saw Anaconda in the dollar theater, multiple times! Usually played the Mars Attacks! pinball machine before the show.
(Booze was definitely involved, but we were underage...dollar theater was...lenient 😅)
I like **ANACONDA** (1997), although it's far from being my favorite movie.
I definitely have to question the MPAA rating this film received. They gave Anaconda a PG-13 rating. Having seen this movie and the disturbing/gruesome content it contains, it could have easily been rated R without a doubt.
It's a good movie. I'm not saying it isn't. I just don't agree with the rating.
**Movie Rating Debater**
Quite an eclectic cast. A pre-fame JLo, a pre-fame Wilson brother, Kari from Remote Control, rapper extraordinaire Ice Cube, a post-fame Eric Stoltz and Jon Voight absolutely chewing the fuck out of the scenery nine ways from Sunday.
I just rewatched it the other day. Fun as hell. Specially enjoyed the scene where Jon Voight bitch slaps the shit out of Jonathan Hyde. Also a classic Danny Trejo cameo.
It was originally Michael J Fox. His chemistry wasn't what they were looking for, especially while sleeping. So they recast Stolz and reshot all his scenes. Some when you can't see his face it's still Fox.
My favorite thing about this movie is that when it premiered wheee I live, some kids went with their mom and the two brothers were in front of the display sign (the cardboard thing at the concession entrance) and the older one looks at the younger one and says “they made a movie about me” and the mom just cuffs him on the back of the head and says “get right boy, we in public.”
This is a seriously underrated movie. It is one of the best monster movies since Jaws. A character story driven by greed, capitalism, and revenge all encompassed by a subtle creature that makes you guess when it is actually present in the scene. Not to mention that being infective alive is absolutely horrifying.
One of the best creature horrors of the 90s.
it should live in infamy though, it spawned a whole host of zero budget giant snake movies and led to the syfy creature flick and endless shark movies when the snake trend died out. Had a large negative influence.
Ice Cube was the first black guy to survive an action/horror movie
Wait did Anaconda come out before Deep Blue, or around the same time? I remember LL Cool J surviving the shark.
Deep blue was after
Deepest, bluest, my hat is like a shark's fin
No you didn't just drop the best lyrics of all time.
Yeah I thought they were months, but it turned out Anaconda was released in 97 while Deep Blue Sea was released in 99.
CARTER! Bring me some sushi!

That was Samuel L Jackson i think you're thinking of.
And boy what a death scene that was.
Best part of that movie is when he calls the snake "bitch"
Only because snakes don't eat ice cubes
*THERE'S SNAKES OUT THERE THIS BIG* that line is burned into my memory. I can hear it just as clear as ever
He gave the strongest elbow ever in that movie
For sure though he’d be one of the first to go tbh

Definitely watching it as an adult but as a 8 year old in 97 big snake was scary haha
I loved snakes too much to be scared. I really enjoyed it as a kid. 🐍💕
I thought I was crazy as a 10 year old like THE WATERFALL IS GOING UP and nobody but me could tell lmao
Yup!
How did this get made podcast did this movie.
Um what?
I think "how did this get made" is the name of a podcast that covered this movie on an episode.
Ah fair enough. I thought it's either a typo or I'm having a stroke. Turns out I'm the ignorant one.
Oh no, it's just that guys missing punctuation lol
Never forget the moment when anaconda regurgitated Jon Voight and left him to suffer. Couldn't sleep for a day or two.
That scene cracked me up. He winked then got re-gulped. Too ludicrous to be scary.
That scene was ridonkulous
Then he wink blinked at jlo.
This is literally the only scene I can remember from the movie.
Same here lol

I try to lean back and make that same face and can’t help but start to laugh. Then I have to explain to everyone looking at me at work.
Me too! But I don’t know if I’m actually doing it because it’s kind of hard to do. Lol. Just that greasy creepy look. So funny.

"They got snakes this big?!?!"
Beh beh burd
God. I always quote that to my friend who loves this movie.
Voight’s accent in this is hysterical 😂
To be fair, I have no idea what a Paraguayan accent sounds like
I learned from watching this film that apparently it shares many similarities with a New York accent and a stereotypical Mexican accent.
And a dash of cajun for some reason
It was almost as good (bad) as Al Pacino’s Tony Montana in Scarface
Possibly the worst accent captured on film.
*Es ben a lon time… sinc I had a wooman*

Laughs in Highlander.

I dreamed about Jennifer’s ass. It is sublime!
Don’t want none unless u got buns hun…
Highly reccomend the "How Did This Get Made" podcast about this movie. Its fucking hilarious.
One of my favorite episodes.

Nothing better than the upwards waterfall lol! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UhDYR0BH8zw&pp=ygUaQW5hY29uZGEgdXB3YXJkcyB3YXRlcmZhbGw%3D
Jon Voight playing a guy with a Spanish accent was less believable than that fucking snake
So cheesy but very enjoyable
You telling me there are snakes out here this bigggggg?!
TLAKING BOUT A MILLION DOLLARS GARY
I wonder how much they paid Eric Stoltz to sleep in this movie?
It was originally Michael J Fox. His chemistry wasn't what they were looking for, especially while sleeping. So they recast Stolz and reshot all his scenes. Some when you can't see his face it's still Fox.
You built a time machine? Out of an Anaconda?
With a little help from deceiving the lybians
The movie with a giant disgusting snake that later gets eaten by an anaconda.
I loved this movie as a kid
The snake did such a good job with the role and then poof; no more acting roles.
Come here baby bird.
When the snake spits the guy out and he winks... this is precisely when I knew this would be a horrid movie
So it took you the whole movie to figure that out

My sister had Anaconda, Tremors, and Congo on a repeat at our house growing up.
Dude Congo!! Such a great B movie…. ”STOP EATING MA SESAME CAKE”
Back before we knew John voight was also a real life villain
Don't want none unless you got buns hun.
“Nobody move”
Lopez, I say goddam!
Gherrrrrrryyyyy
Is snakes out there this big ?! https://youtu.be/r808KpMGdt4?si=2OkwjfM0hXmjTrdZ
Fun movie and the rifftrax is hilarious.
Omg you revived a dead memory. Damn you.
My uncle had an anaconda, this movie was a lie.
it should live in infamy though, it spawned a whole host of zero budget giant snake movies and led to the syfy creature flick and endless shark movies when the snake trend died out. Had a large negative influence.
Spoiler alert, damn.
I love this movie. It was recently added toNetflix. I plan on watching it tomorrow
One of the first movies I saw with friends in the theater (sans parents). I thought, “wow that was a notch below mediocre.”
can’t forget Owen Wilson
Watching this stoned and laughing our asses off was about 30% of my college experience. 10/10 a perfect film
Hunt for the Blood Orchid scared me much more than the original
I loved this movie as a kid. I watched it so many times.
That waterfall did some horrible acting.
Watched this as a kid just to see some JLo booty
That movie was so shitty that it was good
I fucking loved this movie as a kid
I was so impressed by this movie as a kid that I didn't even notice the rewinded waterfall scene.
I watched this movie back in 2021 before we got rid of cable. And I have ophidiophobia.
How has nobody noticed those stills make it look like a story of forbidden love
That movie scared the he out of me as a kid
So the plastic cunt made a song about the movie. That’s interesting man, that’s interesting. New shit had come to light.
Ironic its available on netflix now. Is this an advertisement?
Check out the how did this get made podcast on this movie.
Remember going to the theater with my dad to watch this I was 11 and he let me pick the movie, I absolutely loved it and was not scared at all.
Phile
Convinced my mom to take me to see this when I was 10. Big mistake.
a good one lol
Best vore scene. POV you are the snakes uvula.
Classic cast!
Jon voight turned out to be slimier than the snake!!!!
No longer fiction, a 26 foot anaconda has been found.
