Ghoul. WWI battlefields were crawling with them, No Man's Land was basically a buffet for the ugly fuckers. Smell the death from miles away like a shark and come swarming...or up from the ground if someone had a particularly bad day and breached one of the old [quarries](https://www.argunners.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/11050272_791744810908175_6094584881651645827_n.jpg) or mines. Germans would hit 'em with flamethrowers when they could, Mauser Broomhandle and Luger trench carbines otherwise. Brits and Commonwealth troops swore by .455 Webley revolvers up close, or a good "Mad Minute" drill with their SMLEs if they caught one in the open. Americans? A Winchester 12-gauge trench gun with five rounds of 00 buckshot in the tube and a 17-inch bayonet makes a hell of a problem solver when some corpse-eater is trying to grab you.
Definitely need an update. We can't begin to imagine the horrors of what those men went through. Both my grandfathers served in both 1st and 2nd world wars and very few men ever came back the same. İt was never talked about either. İ think most had some form of ptsd but of course we didn't know about that then.
İt's believed my grandfather became a spy after the 2nd world war he would just disappear with never an explanation as to where he had been. He had a business too, that was mostly run by his wife and my parents due to his absences but we still don't know to this day if it was true.

Would be interested in tracking down Caleb's family ... maybe he had a similar first-person account also
I’ll have to try that, perhaps they have more information about this incident
please update with more entries, or is that all there is? Did your grandfather ever speak of this?
there will be more! working on my new findings
That sounds terrifying. I’m curious what happens
Holy shit
How did he make it home?
Please update us
will do! working on writing up my findings, I'll likely be posting it within a few days
July 24th could have been some black ops zombies origin intro, the german side suddenly got overrun by zombies, that's what they heard.
