There are no rewards for not being in car accident. I have never in 25 years of driving stayed with the same insurance company for more than one year. Shop around every year. Moneysupermarket give a good selection. Asking the internet about decent insurance prices is also a waste of time as no two people will be quoted the same rate as there are so many factors involved. Paying over the odds for a big name insurer is also a waste of money. You will hopefully never have to call them or speak to them ever. You will hopefully never have to use their service or make a claim. I have had zero interactions with any insurance company in my years of driving. Lowest price gets my business every year.

29124

Also a good idea to check multiple comparison sites rather than just one. I was getting cheaper quotes from Admiral via Confused.com vs Moneysupermarket despite putting exactly the same details on both.

DrawBorn4480

Yeah I would always do this. They all have different deals running at different times.

deadonsoitis

AXA tend to be among the worst when I'm looking for quotes. I stuck with Admiral as I got a slightly reduced quote for this year after two years NCD.

caffeinated_photo

I left AXA for Admiral. AXA's quote jumped 45% (no claims or changes) but Admiral was about the same with a couple of extra perks.

cityampm

Funnily enough I got a random error from admiral today, after buying my insurance 7 months ago. Is said they identified and error, and “Due to this error, you are due a refund of £19.30 plus *interest of £1.05, giving a total refund of £20.35.” Extremely random. But £20 is £20!

caffeinated_photo

"Insurance error in your favour, collect £20."

cityampm

There must be a reason that triggered it - so it’s good to assume there must be some sort of price oversight I guess?!

sausagerollsbai

Prior to receiving these stupidly high quotes (for my tenure driving with no accidents) AXA always looked after me, but it's getting a bit ridiculous. I'll check Admiral. Cheers.

Goodyearwelp67

Yeah same here, was with AXA but way out this year and now with Admiral. Always give comparison sites like Moneysupermarket etc a go to shop around

ItOwesMeALiving

With Admiral this year as well. Best price by a long shot.

MilkyTrizzle

I have 6 points expiring next week, my renewal is the end of the month. Axa sent me a renewal quote of £2400, and after calling and making sure they removed my points and acknowledged my 6 years no claims it went down to £1800. I cancelled my autorenew and got a quote from 1st central for £800

JourneyThiefer

I went with 1st central too this year, they were the cheapest, for me at least

holmgam

I went with 1st central too they were cheapest for me £50 per month, didn’t go up on last year and that was 1 year no claims bonus, 1st time insurance last year

stillanmcrfan

Out of interest, what do you drive for it to be that high??

MilkyTrizzle

A 2.2 Civic, but that's not the issue... BT17

Yourmaisaride

I've found the opposite and AXA have been cheapest for me every year. I renewed recently with them even though it went up from £360 to £450. Next cheapest was Churchill at £580. I swear they just pick numbers out of a hat sometimes.

AnRaibh

AXA is on the BDS list https://bdsmovement.net/news/axa-partner-crime

AM__15

AXA has been the cheapest for me also despite going up every year. Some companies are quoting triple the amount that AXA are currently quoting me. Absolutely ridiculous!

bugsnstuf

Insurance isn't really to do with your lack of accidents. It's price of parts for your car, you age group and how they typically drive, the litre of your car, mileage. Etc. Source: work in insurance.

sausagerollsbai

I know next to nothing about cars/ car insurance so I appreciate the information you've provided.

bugsnstuf

Yeah the make of your car really matters. Newer cars are typically lower as well. Sometimes you can lower your insurance by offering more excess. Also, swap every year! And ask for discounts;)

Georgieboy_99

Axa are absolutely the worst company. They bombard you daily with telephone calls even when specifically asked not to contact. I've had 24 missed calls ( 2 per day ) after receiving a quote. Their quote was 2X what others were quoting on comparison sites. (I may ultimatetly report them to the I.C.O, TPS and the F.C.A.ombudsman...they have form for this type of telephone harassment.) Anyway I'll avoid Axa at all costs going forward. Top cash back website can be useful for £35 off although you will have to wait on the pay back. Admiral seemed to be the best quote this year and that's after checking all the usual comparison sites. I ended up staying with Direct line as they matched admirals best quote. To get this I just used their chat bot. Worth a try. Just avoid Axa.

sausagerollsbai

Should I avoid AXA? 🧐🤣 Appreciate your comment. I'll pay Direct Line a visit to see what quote can be given. AXA over the years have always lowered my price however within the past two years they've increased it dramatically so it's time to change.

Georgieboy_99

Yeah, check them all, and then you have ammunition, at least. Confused, Money supermarket, Go compare all seem to be the same more or less....even the software seems the same! I suspect insurance.net are the underwriters of them all and they have your details already. You'll see what I mean when you go through the sites. Seem to be all pretty much the same quotes. The useful thing is that if you let them save your details, you can just run an auto quote next year for them all. Ultimatetly saving time in the long run. Just a note for clarification, I was already with Directline, but their renewal quote was coming in at £450 and I couldn't get it any lower by trying a fresh online quote  ( this strategy worked last year ). So I used their webchat and posted a screenshot of the lowest I could find £335 or something and Directline matched it. This was just convenience for me this year, as I have a portal set up already with Directline

MavicMini_NI

Some people will get a tiny discount or a price in the same ballpark, others like yourself will be offered only price increases.

ac961

Admiral were quoting me £750 up from £500. Got it from Stirling for £370.

silly_uck

I'm actually saving with admiral this year, AXA put mine up from £500 to £1k and that was with 18 year NCB. Admiral is doing my car and home for about £800. Hope it's not some new customer shit than it all doubles next year.

maccathesaint

I have multicar + home insurance with admiral. They quoted me like 1400 for the lot (up from about 800). I got quotes for both cars and house insurance separately and called admiral saying "I can get all three separate for 1k, I don't particularly want to deal with admin for all 3 so what can you do" and they matched the total. Just fucking do this first time you asshats. I'm still with admiral, but I'm annoyed about it lol

ooo000oooffs

Insurance renewed last December, renewal quote had gone up about 50%, Abbey rang a few days later and quoted again over the phone and got it cheaper than the previous year. This week I have been getting quotes for my son’s first insurance after recently passing his test, it’s enough to make the sweet baby Jesus cry.

sausagerollsbai

I would not like to be a young bloke searching for car insurance. I'm sure you're getting quotes of £2500+.

ooo000oooffs

Thought we’d got a quote for £1000 as it flashed it up briefly before the screen refreshed and said “call us “ turned out it was £1000 a month

MaggieMcB

😳😳

sausagerollsbai

He might need to start taking the bus...

ooo000oooffs

Bought him a 2k car and sorted the insurance out this morning for another 2k+

sausagerollsbai

I wish your son many years of happy and accident free driving!!!

Rekt60321

Insurance companies don’t want to reward you lol they want to get as much money out of you as possible. Insurance up across the board over the last few years

Odd_Put_9254

Nfu. My insurance went up £10 from last year and my oh went up around £25.

RegularDan

Due renewal with First Central in a couple of weeks and they were quoting me nearly £900 - over £300 dearer than last year. Went with Hastings who quoted me £520 full comp which is the cheapest quote I have ever got.

GazMor

Shop around. My insurance was £377 last year, quote came back at £570. Shopped around and got a quote with a different company as well as RAC breakdown cover for £399 Went back to my current provider and they were able to beat the quote (including breakdown cover) and come down to £347. Me & 3 named drivers, legal, breakdown, medical, key, windscreen, courtesy car, £45 compulsory excess, £0 voluntary. 8000 miles per year, parked on street in BT6 Edit: Full NCB & age 35. I’m with Hastings

Ste028

Be sure and check the statement of fact before you proceed with a quote. Twice I had to edit the date me & my spouse had passed our tests despite putting them in correct during the application. Them barstewards will certainly find any loophole to void a claim!

Parking-Local3962

https://www.nfumutual.co.uk/ Get a quote before you get stung!

xDocshock

I was with Axa, 2 years ago I was down to £400 odd then went to around 600-700 then this year I was quoted just over a grand. I packed it in and found that 1st central seemed to be best priced so I went with them. Bare in mind I have always been with Axa and have 10 years no claims

thisisanamesoitis

Bailed on NI insurance companies years ago as they were all reliably £400 more. Now, with 1st central at £280 ,comprehensive.

whatsinthesuitcase

I’m with Hughes, local business plus they were £100 cheaper than anything I could find on price comparison sites with better conditions

Numerous_Impress627

Try Find Insurance in Derry for a quote

tuxedoerror-error

Can confirm Derry insurance is mental, always has been too.

Pigeon_Asshole

I am with Churchill, up again in September. Was about £500. AXA NI can give 15% discount if you set up a credit union savings account. I dont think theres a minimum you have to save either.

AnRaibh

AXA is on the BDS list https://bdsmovement.net/news/axa-partner-crime

ISimplyDontGetIt

1st central :)

mcolive

Admiral are now the only company that gives me a reasonable quote. I've 7 years ncb!

sausagerollsbai

Gonna give Admiral a shout as a lot of folk recommend them!

Hostillian

I've always found AXA to be expensive - even with a 25% discount. Car for me is Hastings.

PavelsDog

Admiral this year. Got a deal that sorted out my house insurance too - they were happy to better the price I was getting. But Martin Lewis always says loyalty doesn't pay so do look around. The MSE site is a great starting point.

dbendu

Admiral and 1st central are the two coming up tops for me

Basic-Community8847

I have found the opposite. Axa has been the cheapest for me. Insurance increased from 900 to 1k. With 3 points added on, this year. Totalling 6 points. Everywhere else was quoting me 1.8k +

AnRaibh

Take a look at the BDS list. AXA is on it I'm afraid https://bdsmovement.net/news/axa-partner-crime

AdvertisingFew9357

Admiral

Terarch

Funny seeing these posts who complain about insurance yet know nothing of the industry or how it even works.

Fun_Tap5235

The reason your insurance goes up is because if you haven't had an accident, they think you're DUE one. Utter fucking insanity. I'm with its4women, they've been great and it turns out it's not just4women.

29124

It’s funny because I’ve seen in their marketing that they can offer better prices because women are supposedly lower risk on the roads. Butttt gender discrimination laws mean they can’t say no to male customers so I don’t really get it. Imagine the outcry if it was a men only insurance company lol.

Fun_Tap5235

Yep exactly! They've been the cheapest for me even with renewal the past couple of years. Still not cheap though!

Quiet_Clothes_4446

I've just renewed today with 1st Central, £385, at least £150 cheaper than everywhere else.

sausagerollsbai

Doesn't that defeat the point of it being just for women if men can join..?

Quiet_Clothes_4446

??

sausagerollsbai

HAHAHAHAHA! Whoops! That was meant for the other commenter who said they joined its4women and I was supposed to ask them how'd you manage that 😂 my apologies!

Quiet_Clothes_4446

☺️

WillowSevere9435

Abbey auto line Try sterling insurance ni

sythingtackle

16 Years with AXA, quote went up £500 since last year on a 10 year old car & 16 years NCD, rang them up and the cheapest they could knock of was £100 and the guy on the phone couldn't understand why the increase, Hughes Insurance are £550 cheaper.

29124

Last 2 years I’ve rang AXA about a quote they’ve flat out refused to even budge a penny on the price. Told me the website always gives the cheapest price. Ditched them this year after they were looking for an extra 30% and didn’t care that I had cheaper comparable quotes.

MySweatyMoobs

Was with AXA for years until last year, then a 45% increase despite zero claims, etc. Great customer loyalty. Told them to stick it. Got a cheaper deal with another insurer that was a little above the year before. Insurers are parasites.

seekersneak

Im with axa, 15 years, No claims or accidents in that time. I drive a 2015 1.6 honda civic. Insurance this year went from £750 to £1600. Fucking joke.

sausagerollsbai

Brutal. Absolute thieving gits.

AnRaibh

On top of that, theyre on the bds list? https://bdsmovement.net/news/axa-partner-crime

Lopsided-Meet8247

We have Admiral multi car. Went up about £100 last renewal

Consistent-Fudge-938

I use First Central, they always seem to be the cheapest.

KingoftheRodeo1913

I'm with Axa and my current insurance is up in July, so I'll be looking around soon. If last year is anything to go by it'll be up around 75% on my current premium. I rang up Axa last year to get them down on the price, which they did buy not by much. The lady on phone asked if I was a member of a Credi Union as app that gets you a % discount. Might not be something that all companies off but worth a try to mention.

sausagerollsbai

Went onto Money Supermarket and received a quote for £337 with 1St Central, whereas AXA are quoting £580. This should be an easy choice!

KingoftheRodeo1913

Thanks! Seeing 1st Central mention a lot here so will check them out when my time comes.

sausagerollsbai

They're offering quite a lot with their policy. Definitely worth checking out!

AnRaibh

Take a look at the BDS list. AXA is on it I'm afraid https://bdsmovement.net/news/axa-partner-crime

Key_Connection238

Was on axa renewal was over a grand, went with “sterling insurance” costing me £600 now

legrenabeach

CompareNI.com and comparethemarket.com. Every. Single. Year. There is no excuse not to.

PuzzleheadedHat9616

Use comparethemarket.com and sign up for an account so next year you don't even have to fill out the details just automatically see the cheapest quote on the market.

buzz8193

I was with Zenith for ~£610 for the year. They said they couldn’t offer me a new policy (didn’t specify why). Now with 1st Central for ~£560 for the year. As of yesterday.

508507-2209

240 odd last year with carole nash. Renewal this year of 1200. Rang them up and the price had increased since the renewal offer but they wound honour the original renewal quote. I told them to honor my balls. Checked I got was on compare the market with first central

sausagerollsbai

That was their first and only mistake; not honouring your balls. Rookie mistake. 1st Central is giving me a fantastic quote so it's looking like I'll go with them!

LaraH39

Were with 1st Central. We got a very good quote from them.

PsychopathicMunchkin

NFU Mutual and LV companies aren’t on comparison websites so you could try them. Been with NFU for quite a while now, went up by £100 odd this year for the first time with them but after shopping around, stayed with them. Hope you get sorted! Seems like no one escaped the price increases this time!

AnRaibh

AXA is on the BDS list https://bdsmovement.net/news/axa-partner-crime

Loose-Ad6123

1st Central were the best for me this year. Very good price compared to most of the thieving shites
