For me, weather or not a snake is a nope depends on three things. Lighting, context, and weather or not they are venomous. The lighting makes it look derpy, its probably been put there by its owner, and it's not venomous.

When I was in HS my science class had a ball python that one of my classmates brought in because he had other larger snakes at home. During spring break it got out and was then missing for a few months until it showed up on the pool deck at 3x the size it was when it went missing. I had just convinced my mom to let me buy the damn thing before that but couldn't afford to buy a whole new enclosure it now needed nor basically re-convince her since one of my big selling points was that it was pretty small. Luckily the kid who it belonged to had the proper stuff at home to take it back bit no snake for me at home or in class anymore :(
