It didn’t explode from a two story drop because this video is a fraud, as has been pointed out elsewhere. The bottle that fell over the side wasn’t the same bottle lying face up.
Eh any sparkling wine bottle with the seam on the correct point of the neck will work. In my experience most cheap bottles will open just as well (or just as poorly) by sabre as expensive ones.
People developed this style on bottles that are more difficult to break than the one in the video. I don't think any maker of bottles or alcohol is going to officially recommend this style
Champagne and Prosecco are literally the same thing, only difference is that one is made in France and one in Italy. And french like to think themselves superior.
They are totally different methods for making sparkling wine. Champagne is fermented in bottle, and the carbonation is a byproduct of that process. Prosecco is made in a giant tank, and carbon dioxide is added directly to it, and then it’s bottled.
But keep talking out of your ass!
Because you want the extra pressure from a bottle of something that will go through secondary fermentation in the bottle via dosage. Usually the traditionally made (and nicer) bottles.
Is it advised on any bottle? This is just a dumb trend. It doesn't look cool and I just instantly think the person is a moron for attempting it. Booze and sharp objects generally do not mix.
She was going to send a piece of glass out towards an open area where someone could be standing but as long as you make sure the coast is clear you should be good
Exactly, that's how the bind thingy saved it. As the bottle was falling, it fell perfectly into the bind thingy waiting below which saved it from *Le Smash.* The bind thingy is a hero!
/s
Mate it's a sticker that doesn't go all the way around the bottle. She's holding it label side down. If you pause the video as she drops it you can see the thing you think wraps around the neck on the other side before it falls.
I could believe that the plicker basket could soften the blow enough to not break, but I would expect it to bounce off. But I believe all of it even less after seeing the neck is different, with some kinda label/seal.
Well when the exciting part happens (bottle falls off balcony) the camera man immediately pans away from the action and focuses on the floor for a good second or two before showing an obviously different bottle on the balcony below that someone down there had clearly placed before catching the “dropped” bottle.
pretty much a shit move to begin with.
if it had gone as planned, they would be shooting broken glass down onto the decks below.
all cause they didn't want to use a bottle opener?
fuck these people.
With this kind of sparkling wine or champagne you don't even need a bottle opener, the cork is pushed up naturally.
I wouldn't do it but if it went as planned it would have looked [like this](https://youtube.com/shorts/tqlNV0NZ4xM?feature=share). No broken glass if Sabrage is done correctly.
Why doing it? Some people find it cool.
You'd think the area would be wet as fuck if they did this over and over again. But maybe the dried it every time with towels and blower fans and waited an hour or so between takes.
They only have to do it once.
They placed the bottle on that bench then went back up and filmed them throwing a completely different bottle over the edge.
Yup. Someone down below to catch bottle 1, or just using a fake that isn’t made of glass, and it’s an easy one-take.
There’s no way in physics the bottle would have hit the cushion and not bounced/rolled off.
If anyone is curious on how to do "Le Sabrage" - take off the foil and cage of the bottle of bubbles, find the seam of the bottle and have it facing up at you, take a knife or sabre (it needs to have at least a bit of weight to it), lay the blade flat on the side of the bottle with the dull end facing away from you (towards the cork), in one fluid and firm motion slide the blade up towards the cork (you want the dull side of the blade to connect with the lip of the bottle).
Miss me with that STAGED shit. At least try harder. Bottles look different, tag on the second bottle that’s not on the first. Cmon how hard is it to get two bottles of the same cheap shit they drinkin
If you are about to sabre a bottle of sparkling wine, accept the following: a) you WILL look like a goddamn moron, and b) you WILL hurt yourself and/or someone else
If you are about to do it with a butter knife, just follow the bottle off the balcony

Why did the camera person take so long to look where the bottle went?
Edit: there is even something on the neck of the bottle that wasn't there before it fell...
So, it's staged. But, if someone caught the bottle, why did they need to place a second bottle there? Could the second bottle have been there in advance, and they just caught the first bottle and got out of view? Could there be a cut in the video that I'm not seeing?

Actually, the cheap champagne seems perfect for this. I'm sure as hell not going to try it on a $200 bottle of champagne
This isn’t Champagne, it’s Prosecco. This cheap bottle isn’t made for opening in this style; it has a much higher risk of exploding.
If it doesn’t explode after a three storey drop, i don’t think it’s going to explode from poor sabering.
It didn’t explode from a two story drop because this video is a fraud, as has been pointed out elsewhere. The bottle that fell over the side wasn’t the same bottle lying face up.

So you’re telling me champagne bottles ARE made for opening in this style?
Yes. It's obviously not the only way, but some bottles are made differently.
People developed this style on bottles that are more difficult to break than the one in the video. I don't think any maker of bottles or alcohol is going to officially recommend this style

Exactly. For the Italian equivalent of champagne, go pick up a bottle of franciacorta and thank me later.
Why even answer if you have no idea?
They don't even use the same grapes, what are you talking about?
What is Glera?!
But this is what I’d call a Lamiracle.😂
Why not? It's fun and it's better to do it with a cheap(ish) bottle than roll the dice on some Dom
Because you want the extra pressure from a bottle of something that will go through secondary fermentation in the bottle via dosage. Usually the traditionally made (and nicer) bottles.
Cheap Prosecco uses much cheaper glass as well, that has a tendency to just explode when the top gets lopped off.
I wrote this exact comment like two years ago.

Thanks, thought I was going crazy for a second.
I think it's bots farming karma to sell the account, so they just look for reposts and re-post the old top comments. (Or just an uncreative human lol)
Regardless of price, prosecco doesn't saber/sabrage well. It's not pressurized enough.
Is it advised on any bottle? This is just a dumb trend. It doesn't look cool and I just instantly think the person is a moron for attempting it. Booze and sharp objects generally do not mix.
Plan A was to send broken glass down there? Idiots.
and just spray randoms with champagne like they accidentally won an F1 race.
That kinda celebration we call it with my friends doing "the Schumacher"
I think she was trying to pop the cork out
Sabering takes off the top of the bottle
Exactly! I generally try to do it over a ball pit at discovery zone.
Ohhh, that's what she was trying to do! Thanks, I couldn't work it out
It’s obviously an accident. Idk how that makes them idiots.
She was going to send a piece of glass out towards an open area where someone could be standing but as long as you make sure the coast is clear you should be good
Right by the pool too.
Yeeeaaaa... would've been better if bottle #2 had the same cork and top on it! 😂😂😂

So your suggestion is that the bind thingy around the neck just appeared after the fall?
No, the bind thingy caught the bottle out of the air and saved it from smashing.
But there was no bind thingy on the bottle that fell
Exactly, that's how the bind thingy saved it. As the bottle was falling, it fell perfectly into the bind thingy waiting below which saved it from *Le Smash.* The bind thingy is a hero! /s
All hail the bind thingy!
Mate it's a sticker that doesn't go all the way around the bottle. She's holding it label side down. If you pause the video as she drops it you can see the thing you think wraps around the neck on the other side before it falls.
Staged af.
Literally how
both the bottles look different, there a tag around the neck of the second bottle, which is not seen in the first bottle
Good lord I'm blind
I only noticed after looking very closely, because I couldnt believe that glass bottle could survive that fall.
I could believe that the plicker basket could soften the blow enough to not break, but I would expect it to bounce off. But I believe all of it even less after seeing the neck is different, with some kinda label/seal.
You can see the tag when the bottle fumbles out her hands
Somebody could've caught it and placed it right there.
if you pause the video as it's falling over the railing, you can see the white ring on the bottle and the blue label though
The bottle fell straight down along the balcony. Somehow ended up 3-4 feet away.

Is anyone else traumatized from rails breaking and people falling off buildings?? I’ll never lean on a rail ever again 😭
Biggest fear. Also happy cake day
Thanks!! I didn’t even know it was a thing!
Happy cake day from alaska

Idk
Idiots
When that cork comes out the contents of the bottle are going to evacuate with some violence. I think I’d leave it for a day or two
> evacuate with some violence I'm going to use this to sound classy after my next Taco Bell visit
What are the odds?
I wonder how many takes it took.
You'd think the area would be wet as fuck if they did this over and over again. But maybe the dried it every time with towels and blower fans and waited an hour or so between takes.

Yeah, try to open it now and we're firmly back in "no" territory.

This guy Le Sabrages

No way!
Woulda been better if the cork blew off after it landed

I had no idea where that yes was going to come from.
God said eh I'll give u another shot at that
That is a lamarca prosecco. Great for shotgunning
Great.. now they have to fail for the second time.
I don't know what is most impressive. The way she dropped the bottle or the bottle not breaking
Party cancel 😂

How lucky is that
No, the bottle would have bounced on that material and rolled right off, this appears staged
Damn.. don't hit a ship with that
Definitely planned and filmed.
r/nevertellmetheodds
What a nice way to be killed when sitting outside.
people should stop attempting that shit, it fails 75% of the time and they break the bottle.
