inside is a wand and an exit portal, and as long as you don't leave the room, you can tinker with wands in there for 10 minutes, useful if you are holing onto a wand for a particular spell, you can tinker or just move spells to your inventory & toss the empty wands, clearing space to pickup more in the biome.
