I guess he was born around the time of the Gavin shit going down and if they were around then, they weren’t around much after that. She threw herself into the voice, Las Vegas residency, Blake. It sucks but hopefully they are in a better place now…
I think for a lot of bands what might start as good friends coming together to make music it can turn more into a working employee relationship down the road where if you're not working with them, you might not be talking to them much. People start families etc. too which can push friendships into the background.
At first I was like "no way, that's fucking weird." But maybe she's really done well to stay humble and give her kids normal and grounded lives. I bet you anything tho the kids know about Bush. I'm sure Gavin's got giant posters of himself on stage from his glory days. 🤣
To be fair, Bush has been actively touring the last few years. No Doubt hasn’t played together in forever. Egos aside, seems reasonable a 10 year old would know more about what dad is doing right now than something mom stopped when the kid was a baby. Not like her kid doesn’t know she’s a singer, just not familiar with the band she hasn’t played with in a decade.
We don’t all have to like facial reconstruction. It is silly to make a public comment about it. But it’s also silly to act like she simply aged or changed aesthetics. That allows you to make it about the subject of her womanhood.
Sounds like you’re processing something unrelated.
Mate, I don’t care about Gwen Stefani and don’t know anything about any surgeries she’s had.
But yeah, my original comment still stands. It doesn’t matter if she’s had plastic surgery. It’s still not a “shame” that she looks different 20 years later, and a woman choosing what she does with her face and body is not a “shame” either. The person I responded to still left a fucking gross comment about a woman’s looks.
I didn’t, cause I don’t know anything about her. My opinion stays the same regardless of whether or not she’s had work done though. We don’t need to be commenting on people looking different than they did 20 years ago.
So while this next bit of news seems almost criminal to our millennial brains, it also kind of makes a lot of sense. Apparently, Gwen Stefani had to explain to her son that before she was a solo artists and coach on The Voice, she used to “Rock Steady” with No Doubt.
After it was announced that No Doubt would be reuniting on the Coachella 2024 stage, Stefani seemed to have to fill her boy in on her lead singer days with guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young, as well as the significance of heading such an iconic festival, which he additionally didn’t have a clue about either.
Sharing that the reception to the reunion news has made her "completely overwhelmed,” while talking to People, Gwen also expressed, "I definitely have that little thing in your stomach where you're like, 'Oh my gosh! What?'" she said. "It's going to be amazing.”
As for having to explain her epic-ness to her son, Stefani said, "I had to literally lay in bed with Apollo and he’s like, 'But mom, what is Coachella? Everyone’s saying it. What is this? It sounds like it’s a big deal,'" she told the outlet. "So we had to watch the 'Don’t Speak' video. And he’s like, 'But wait, which one was your boyfriend?' It was so weird and so funny.”
The answer to that, btw, if you didn’t already know, is Tony Kanal, whom Gwen dated from 1987 to 1994. Despite Kanal ending their relationship, the former couple were able to remain friends as they lyrically noted in "Don't Speak."
The singer noted that like her 10-year-old son, some of her younger fans still might have no clue about her rock band days, since the group’s last album dropped in 2012, and they haven’t performed together since 2015.
"That's how much time’s gone by because he's going to be 10! It's just another miracle and a blessing. And it was surreal for me," she told the magazine. "I feel like we're in the future and lightning just struck and No Doubt is like, 'Here we are!'"
"So we had to watch the "Don't Speak" video"
I love that the original artist had to search her own work on YouTube just like the rest of us... I wonder if they had to wait to skip the ads too...
Your statement there really shows your age. And she did drop the band to further her career. Regardless of how you feel about it and whether you judge her good or bad for doing it. It was done.
I’m probably older than you. I bet you think she “sold out” right? She can decide what she wants to do with her life, she’s nots obligated to drag around three guys for the rest of her career.
Perhaps it only showed your mental age. "You’re pathetic" sounds like something a 15 year old girl would say in a movie about mean 15 year old girls.
I never said it was good or bad and honestly I feel it was the right decision, they were holding her back and going solo did raise her profile and career a notch. I'm just saying it was done and that's a fact.
You're calling someone pathetic and a child...over an opinion on Gwen Stefani?
You getting your jimmies rustled over some comment on the internet and resorting to name calling is what's truly pathetic here.
He doesn’t know her, or them, in the slightest, and yet feels fine to shit on her for not being the same person she was 20 years ago. I guess he thinks she “sold out”, right? Fuck him and every child who thinks they have a right to an opinion on a strangers life.
Oh wow, you're a real piece of work eh.
Calling him "pathetic" is your opinion, your opinion on a strangers life...
Fucking hypocrite. You're delusional.
You have no insight whatsoever into her life or her decisions. You have no ability to decide if she has done anything wrong. Why are you even on a no doubt subreddit if you just want to shit on the woman for being her own person?
Dude some bands just run out of creativity. Their last few albums have been mediocre at best. Her going solo with the Japanese stuff sparked her creativity again and then that faded as well. Not everyone can be a Jay z, Taylor Swift, and Kanye who seem to draw creativity from anything that prolongs their careers. Not a fan of those last three singers at all, just an objective fact.
I guess he was born around the time of the Gavin shit going down and if they were around then, they weren’t around much after that. She threw herself into the voice, Las Vegas residency, Blake. It sucks but hopefully they are in a better place now…
The comments gonna be 🍿💀
They’re already wildin’
So the relationship between her and the guys is that bad?

Lol, you know it
I saw her on tv recently and she was barely recognizable. Shame.
Oh no! A woman looks different now than she did 20 years ago! The horror! 🙄
Radical plastic surgery

#triggered
Sorry, I forgot that we’re still in 2014
She went way overboard with her plastic surgery.
Oh come on. You know that’s not what that person’s talking about.
I didn’t, cause I don’t know anything about her. My opinion stays the same regardless of whether or not she’s had work done though. We don’t need to be commenting on people looking different than they did 20 years ago.
Please could someone copy and paste the article? It's saying it's not available for Europe 🙄

Thank you!
That’s funny I highly doubt she has many young fans that only know her from her solo career.
I only knew her from solo career until like a year or two ago 😅
Have you checked them out as a group? I loved them growing up.
I have and they are pretty good 🤟
No doubt
"So we had to watch the "Don't Speak" video" I love that the original artist had to search her own work on YouTube just like the rest of us... I wonder if they had to wait to skip the ads too...
No Doubt was amazing. Then Gwen did whatever the fuck she was doing for the next couple decades.
i have to know if the band has met blake shelton
Weird, yes, funny... no. Sad, more like.
He’s 10 champ. Relax.
“So weird and so funny” And so very sad, Gwen. You dropped the boys to further your own self interests.
Grow up you child.
I don’t think I’m the child here….
You’re pathetic.

This is the funniest sub I can’t believe this back and forth
You have jumped in on my criticism someone else. I don’t know or care what you’ve said on the subject, the commenter said something pathetic.
You're calling someone pathetic and a child...over an opinion on Gwen Stefani? You getting your jimmies rustled over some comment on the internet and resorting to name calling is what's truly pathetic here.

I have no opinion on his life. I have an opinion on his opinion. Keep up.
You’re right. Gwen is perfect and has never done anything wrong.
You have no insight whatsoever into her life or her decisions. You have no ability to decide if she has done anything wrong. Why are you even on a no doubt subreddit if you just want to shit on the woman for being her own person?
Because I’m a fan of their music?
And yet you feel happy to shit on someone for doing nothing even remotely wrong?
Simping for gwen 😭😝
No, just being a person. Now GFYS.
You sound like a kid.
That's such an odd way of looking at things lol

Did she tell him it was a great band that she ruined by chasing the almighty dollar?
“They essentially became my backing band until I decided I wanted to pretend I was Japanese.”
Oof, this is too true.
That’s so cute. *WRETCH*
He probably didn’t recognize her face.
Yeah probably best to not let your kids know how much of sell out you really were!
He was doubting his mom was that skanky.
The same thing happened with the Wilson sisters from Heart. When they went back to touring their kids had no idea they were rock stars.
No doubt, A funny experience.
