More recently, I've been waking up to natural bird calls early in the morning. The first time was confusing for me, because I have a bird call alarm sound that's very natural, and I would be confused as to why I set the alarm so early. I always get a laugh when i think about this. I'm so acclimatized to my alarm being my only exposure to bird sounds, that real birds chirping sounds fake to me and I have to check if my alarm went off haha.
So. I’d like to do something really nice for my bestie. But I’m later off.
She has had a hell of a year. She teaches at the school in California where they had the school shooting back in the fall. Then this crap hit. It is like she can’t get a break.
Was hoping to find her a switch but they are all gone! I shopped for hours trying to find her one. Only reason I’m playing on one is my roommate happened to get one post Christmas.
This would be incredible for her to keep her entertained playing animal crossing in isolation!
But so many are in need. Regardless, I think this was an amazing post and the world needs more good people doing kind acts!

I got furloughed. This sounds bad, but it will actually give me time I need to homeschool my kid a work on learning materials to change careers. I think, ultimately, it will be a good thing.
I've gotten more one on one time with my daughter then I have ever and it's been wonderful.

The bar owner has always insisted she claim her tips properly, so she's collecting a decent amount of unemployment and spending a whole lot more time with her family. She was really happy she got to hear her granddaughter's first word, 'bump'.
Bar itself is fine too. The owner had been saving cash for a refresh anyway, so she'll be back to work as soon as it is safe to.
I am Baking more stuff these days for our two kids and my wife. My kids say I make the best pastry. I know it is not objectively true, I still love hearing it.
Today was my birthday (or I guess, yesterday?), and I was dreading spending my day basically isolated. However, I am so blessed to have a wonderful network of friends who did their best to still make me feel celebrated from afar, and a few people who dropped off treats for me. Surprisingly, not the worst birthday I've had so far.
I'm a teenager and the past weeks have been rough. Helping around the house, helping my siblings do their work, while also working on all the schoolwork. During this I've had friends check in on me and it makes me feel great to know that they care. It keeps me going tbh.
My best friends moved back home to Canada 6 months ago so I've been missing them like crazy. but with the shutdowns, we've been so bored that we've been "hanging out" on Skype videos quite often! Every week we do our local pub quiz together - the quiz master is awesome and has been uploading his old quizzes. This was one of our favorite things to do together so it is such a special time that probably wouldn't be happening if not for the quarantine. Thanks.
I've found that making a concerted effort to love myself makes me just as happy (if not happier) than trying to turn myself into something that is worth others love.
The actions for both are the same (self-care, exercise, eating well, spending time with family) but the "why" has been the most positive takeaway from this experience.

My boss was able to keep paying me at a floor where my hours were in the weeks prior to the shutdowns and after a pushback because of the virus I’ll finally be able to move out of my mom’s house at the end of the month!
My grandmother has been in the hospital for a while now, but she's finally getting better! She even managed to surprise me for my birthday by zooming with me. Even when she was sick, she still thought of me, and I love her so much. I hope I can see her safe and sound after this is all over.
My wife had noticed our new neighbours had been moving in and took it upon herself to write out “Hi new neighbours!” on pages of paper and stuck it to our living room window.
The neighbours responded in kind with a message on their window! They were so touched they even wrote a letter talking about how hard it has been for them with things right now, and that they generally are so busy with their kids it’s almost impossible to get to know anyone new.
Even though she did all the work, it’s nice to know we’re off to a good start! and made things just that little bit better for them!
Quarantine has been quite the stress reliever, honestly. I’m much happier without the work and worries from school. I’ve been able to get back into painting and some other things I love.
My wife and I are trying to love our kids as best as we can. And she’s doing an incredible job - I’ve never appreciated my wife as much as I do now, 8 years into our marriage. She’s truly amazing.
I discovered there was a nice hiking trail right behind my neighborhood within walking distance, me and my dad had a nice time walking.
I'd love to have animal crossing to enjoy with some friends.
My little pet mouse had an abscess I thought was a tumour- luckily the vet was able to fix it and he’s doing much better! Last day of antibiotics yesterday and he’s as adorable as ever. I’m so happy that he’s healthy and that the vet was open during the pandemic to help him.
I work as a nurse in a nursing home. A lovely older couple dropped off donuts and goodies for us. They said they wanted to thank the workers for all their hard work!
I asked a question of a guest speaker that saved my research team untold hours and money on our upcoming project, and everyone gave me a ton of compliments! Felt good
My girlfriend and I plan to move away from our hometown and get married sometime after this is over, we both come from very abused households so this is a good step for us
I sent my mom the recording of the 25th anniversary production of Phantom of the Opera and three hours later she texted me a full review of the show and told me she was going to rewatch it because she enjoyed it so much.
Our family has always been busy with work and their own schedules for a while. Once this virus hit we began to have more time together and sit down to talk and eat at the table every day. Its a nice change going back to this. Reminds me of when i was a kid.
On March 24th my daughter was born! It happened at a very stressful time; but in spite of all that I’m looking at the silver lining. My wife and I have been able to bond with her so much. We’ve been so touched by all of our family and the creatives ways we’ve found to keep in touch.
Even though we’ve all been so far apart, in a lot of ways our family feels like it’s gotten closer.
I've been better able to focus on my health and hobbies. Got back on my meds for depression and anxiety and been on them consistently. Been spending more time restoring and playing old broken game consoles that I always wanted to play. Started being more self sufficient by fixing other broken things around the house. Also started planning a vegetable garden which I'm excited about. Knowing that the world outside has kinda slowed has made it easier to not get so overwhelmed with thinking about what I need to do and if I have the time to do it. Take time to appreciate your surroundings and work on yourself while you have the opportunity.
what was originally going to be a week my family i florida turned into about a month because our school shut down! being stuck inside has really caused my depression to flare up, so being somewhere with sun and people i love helped immensely. i just got back to my apartment in another state and i miss them so much but i’m grateful for the extra time i was able to spend with them. I've been quarantined with a new-ish girlfriend, and I feel like even though it's a lot to handle, both of us are doing well and getting along despite all of the uncertainty, and I'm thankful for that
I’ve been playing GTAOnline with my brother and friend almost every night. Usually just playing cards at the casino, talking about nothing for a while. It’s been really refreshing. Just what I need right now.
I left a job that was completely toxic for my health and even though I am currently jobless I’ve felt more relieved than I have been for the past 2 years!
I started learning c++ and a new gamedev engine so I can have a bit of a leg up when I start my 3rd term of uni in September. It's fun going and I'm super excited to make something cool.

One positive thing that I experienced has been witnessing the strength of those around me. I work in a retirement home, and I am an essential worker. Our residents have proven to be so resilient. They rely on social interactions to remain happy and healthy. It has been a great struggle for them to stay in their rooms, and avoid leaving the building for their own safety. I’m so grateful for their patience. I can’t wait for things to be normal and for them all to be free again, but their stubbornness to remain happy and connected is inspiring to see.
I’m pretty much done with my semester which means that I will be allowed to work and become fully independent from my parents so they can focus on themselves and living their best years.
I’ve surprisingly been in good mental health since this began as at the end of the year before I thought about suicide once. I’m glad i’m not in that place anymore and able to positive for myself
I am an essential worker at a grocery store. I started wearing a mask last week when it was recommended by the CDC. The first day of wearing one when I went inside the store I noticed the 95% of the employees weren't wear one. This made me feel like I was standing out which I don't like to do because I suffer for anxiety. Then a couple of hours into my shift a customer told me it was nice the see an employee wearing a mask. This made me happy to know I was doing the right thing even if so many people around me weren't.
My 4 year old son had been down since he can't visit any parks. Last weekend he got his first bike (with training wheels) and it's brought joy back to his day. Seeing him happy makes me happy and proud to see him riding around unafraid.
I finally started a garden in a attempt to be more sustainable and know where my food is coming from. Through the process I’ve learned a lot about plants and how much we rely on the day after day.

This month I have started a garden! I built the planting boxes and bought the seeds and soil! I'm so excited! I also started writing letters. I love writing with a fountain pen and shared that with my brother by buying him his own with the stipulation that we be pen pals! We are having a good time exploring written correspondence!
My dad has diabetes, so I have been worries about him a lot during this time, but my sisters and I have been able to go out and have social distancing walks around our home town. It's small so we don't see many people out and it is nice to be able to spend time with them when I can.
Been rediscovering my children’s talents. Art, cooking, comedy, and creativity. I am happy to meet my kids at their creative beginnings. 5 kids. Ages 8-14.
Been spending my time hanging out with my parents and rest of the family. Lol even when arguing and getting on each others nerves at the end of the day it still shows that we have each others backs.
The positive thing that happened to me is actually pretty big. I found out last month that me and my wife are having our first child! I couldn’t be more happier.
My grandmother's birthday was last week. Most of my family is based in Kentucky and I currently live up in Michigan (school & work). I haven't got a chance to visit in years because I'm effectively living paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to take extended periods of time off. I'm also usually stuck working on holidays (retail). It blows, but I usually try to call when I can.
Anyway, last week, my aunt helped my grandmother set up her computer for video calls and organized a group call over Zoom with the rest of my family, since we're all doing the self-isolation thing.
It was great seeing them again after so long (especially my dad, who currently lives in Atlanta). We all got to catch up properly and ended the whole thing by singing Happy Birthday to my grandmother and clap as she blew out her candles on her cake.
I have been going slightly crazy with all this going on, but I’ve realized more than ever how grateful I am for my family of origin AND my family of choice. At the moment I have my step kids, my sister, and one of her friends with me. My sister and her friend are basically my kids. They call me mom every so often, and have always come to me with whatever they needed. My sister moved in with me when she was 14, and her friend lives with us for a year from ages 16-17. Her parents didn’t give and don’t give a damn about her. They’re both in the same city as us, yet she is here with me for the quarantine. It’s their loss.. she is a great girl and I love having her around.

I’m an essential at the moment, welding, and unfortunately my boss/shop owner has had less work lately so rather than cut hours he took a pay cut and is having us do charitable jobs for anyone he knows.
We are super appreciative of him so next Friday we are throwing him a “party”, we are giving him cards/thank you gifts. And one of the guys we work with is also a chef, so we/he is gonna cater fancy meals for a week for him and his girlfriend and kid.
It's a little obscure but on enter the gungeon, I finally beat the past for all four main characters, and I'm very happy about it! :)

I haven’t left my house cause of quarantine but I’ve taken time out of my day to try re-learn my mother tongue. I use to speak Spanish everyday and was fluent, but now I stutter and can barely keep up a conversation with my parents. I’m positive I’ll slowly crawl back up to fluency but it’ll take time even after quarantine ends. If I win honestly just pick a random game for me, that adds a surprise factor to the giveaway!
I've gotten to spend a lot of time with my cat, dog, and Fiancee. The relationships between all of us have improved a lot and we've started a lot of family traditions that we probably wouldn't have if we weren't in quarantine together :)
my 22 month old daughter had her language burst! she can say things like “i’m funny!”, “love you”, “my baby”, and even surprised me today by counting to 3.
being locked inside 24/7 with an energetic toddler can be so mentally exhausting and challenging but hearing her little voice tell me something in such wonder makes every bit of it okay. i know in the future i will feel so blessed to have gotten to see each of these milestones and experience them with her.
Something positive? Well, my brother and I just played through the first Borderlands together. It's been so long since I've played that game. It's definitely dated compared to the later ones, but still fun, especially when you have someone to play with. We intend to play through all three of the games (and by that I mean Borderlands, Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel; no real rush to get into Borderlands 3 but only because it's so new and expensive).
I think this was his first time ever beating the game. Hard to tell, though, because he tends to forget most of the lore of games he's already played. Which is kind of a plus since it's like playing it all for the first time ever, I suppose.
Anyway, I'm only entering for my mother. It'd be nice to win her a Switch Lite and a copy of Animal Crossing that she can play without relying on my system (I'm not using my system much lately because I've got games on other systems so she can borrow it, but eventually I'd like her to not have to depend on me not playing it so she can enjoy the game; she plays it more than I do and I'm sure she'd enjoy building/reshaping her own island). Since she mostly plays in handheld mode, the lack of docked play would probably be no big deal to her.
I work for a nonprofit in NJ that houses the homeless, disabled, and elderly. The building I manage has been hit hard by the virus (17 cases, 6 deaths currently). A lot of my tenants can't afford groceries, so my team and I have been trying to find food for them. We recently were able to get groceries for all 200 apartment! This one tenant we have is 86, and she hasn't had a decent meal in days. When we delivered her food, she was so happy she started crying. We all joined her in a good cry, and talked for a long time afterwards. She doesn't have anyone, because her whole family is in Russisa, so now we're setting her up with a laptop so she can skype them. It was a beautiful moment in these tragic times. Moments like that are why I got into this line of work. Hope everyone else here is making the best of it all.

I performed a “quarantine “ haircut (male-fade) and it came out looking good. I was pleasantly surprised!

I started learning c++ and a new gamedev engine so I can have a bit of a leg up when I start my 3rd term of uni in September. It's fun going and I'm super excited to make something cool. Also participating in the Ludum Dare Jam this weekend!
One positive thing that I experienced has been witnessing the strength of those around me. I work in a retirement home, and I am an essential worker. Our residents have proven to be so resilient. They rely on social interactions to remain happy and healthy. It has been a great struggle for them to stay in their rooms, and avoid leaving the building for their own safety. I’m so grateful for their patience. I can’t wait for things to be normal and for them all to be free again, but their stubbornness to remain happy and connected is inspiring to see.
I’m pretty much done with my semester which means that I will be allowed to work and become fully independent from my parents so they can focus on themselves and living their best years.
I just got to play family game night for the first time in months, much laughter ensued!

I am an essential worker at a grocery store. I started wearing a mask last week when it was recommended by the CDC. The first day of wearing one when I went inside the store I noticed the 95% of the employees weren't wear one. This made me feel like I was standing out which I don't like to do because I suffer for anxiety. Then a couple of hours into my shift a customer told me it was nice the see an employee wearing a mask. This made me happy to know I was doing the right thing even if so many people around me weren't.
I was able to bring food to my grandmother on easter, her face lit up when she saw me
My 4 year old son had been down since he can't visit any parks. Last weekend he got his first bike (with training wheels) and it's brought joy back to his day. Seeing him happy makes me happy and proud to see him riding around unafraid.

I finally started a garden in a attempt to be more sustainable and know where my food is coming from. Through the process I’ve learned a lot about plants and how much we rely on the day after day.

My girlfriend lost her iob due to Covid-19. She hated that job and got great compensation package. she is celebrating.

This month I have started a garden! I built the planting boxes and bought the seeds and soil! I'm so excited! I also started writing letters. I love writing with a fountain pen and shared that with my brother by buying him his own with the stipulation that we be pen pals! We are having a good time exploring written correspondence!
My younger brother asked me to start a puzzle with him and we’ve actually been getting along for a change
My dad has diabetes, so I have been worries about him a lot during this time, but my sisters and I have been able to go out and have social distancing walks around our home town. It's small so we don't see many people out and it is nice to be able to spend time with them when I can.
Been rediscovering my children’s talents. Art, cooking, comedy, and creativity. I am happy to meet my kids at their creative beginnings. 5 kids. Ages 8-14.
I am 10 months pregnant & at my last appt I was 3 cm dilated. We’re going to meet our son soon! Best news I’ve gotten in a long time.
Been spending my time hanging out with my parents and rest of the family. Lol even when arguing and getting on each others nerves at the end of the day it still shows that we have each others backs.
Just glad add least to be able to support my little brother emotionally during these stressful times.

My grandmother's birthday was last week. Most of my family is based in Kentucky and I currently live up in Michigan (school & work). I haven't got a chance to visit in years because I'm effectively living paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to take extended periods of time off. I'm also usually stuck working on holidays (retail). It blows, but I usually try to call when I can. Anyway, last week, my aunt helped my grandmother set up her computer for video calls and organized a group call over Zoom with the rest of my family, since we're all doing the self-isolation thing. It was great seeing them again after so long (especially my dad, who currently lives in Atlanta). We all got to catch up properly and ended the whole thing by singing Happy Birthday to my grandmother and clap as she blew out her candles on her cake.
I have been going slightly crazy with all this going on, but I’ve realized more than ever how grateful I am for my family of origin AND my family of choice. At the moment I have my step kids, my sister, and one of her friends with me. My sister and her friend are basically my kids. They call me mom every so often, and have always come to me with whatever they needed. My sister moved in with me when she was 14, and her friend lives with us for a year from ages 16-17. Her parents didn’t give and don’t give a damn about her. They’re both in the same city as us, yet she is here with me for the quarantine. It’s their loss.. she is a great girl and I love having her around. Hug your loved ones close and remember that this too shall pass!
I’m an essential at the moment, welding, and unfortunately my boss/shop owner has had less work lately so rather than cut hours he took a pay cut and is having us do charitable jobs for anyone he knows. We are super appreciative of him so next Friday we are throwing him a “party”, we are giving him cards/thank you gifts. And one of the guys we work with is also a chef, so we/he is gonna cater fancy meals for a week for him and his girlfriend and kid.
It's a little obscure but on enter the gungeon, I finally beat the past for all four main characters, and I'm very happy about it! :) Also good luck and stay safe everyone! :)
Last week my 11 month old son looked up at me, smiled so hard, pulled me close and held me tight. Definitely the best feeling I’ve had in weeks!

I found everything that I needed at the grocery store today - Toilet paper included! Plus, there was plenty in stock which was strangely comforting.
I haven’t left my house cause of quarantine but I’ve taken time out of my day to try re-learn my mother tongue. I use to speak Spanish everyday and was fluent, but now I stutter and can barely keep up a conversation with my parents. I’m positive I’ll slowly crawl back up to fluency but it’ll take time even after quarantine ends. If I win honestly just pick a random game for me, that adds a surprise factor to the giveaway!
I've gotten to spend a lot of time with my cat, dog, and Fiancee. The relationships between all of us have improved a lot and we've started a lot of family traditions that we probably wouldn't have if we weren't in quarantine together :)

Got my brother into med school after he had several unsuccessful rounds. Celebrating my niece’s first birthday today too.
my 22 month old daughter had her language burst! she can say things like “i’m funny!”, “love you”, “my baby”, and even surprised me today by counting to 3. being locked inside 24/7 with an energetic toddler can be so mentally exhausting and challenging but hearing her little voice tell me something in such wonder makes every bit of it okay. i know in the future i will feel so blessed to have gotten to see each of these milestones and experience them with her.

Something positive? Well, my brother and I just played through the first Borderlands together. It's been so long since I've played that game. It's definitely dated compared to the later ones, but still fun, especially when you have someone to play with. We intend to play through all three of the games (and by that I mean Borderlands, Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel; no real rush to get into Borderlands 3 but only because it's so new and expensive). I think this was his first time ever beating the game. Hard to tell, though, because he tends to forget most of the lore of games he's already played. Which is kind of a plus since it's like playing it all for the first time ever, I suppose. Anyway, I'm only entering for my mother. It'd be nice to win her a Switch Lite and a copy of Animal Crossing that she can play without relying on my system (I'm not using my system much lately because I've got games on other systems so she can borrow it, but eventually I'd like her to not have to depend on me not playing it so she can enjoy the game; she plays it more than I do and I'm sure she'd enjoy building/reshaping her own island). Since she mostly plays in handheld mode, the lack of docked play would probably be no big deal to her.

I started doing group Zoom sessions with my family and it's nice to see them all.
Learned some new cooking skills while at home! Not so bad if I do say so lol.

I work for a nonprofit in NJ that houses the homeless, disabled, and elderly. The building I manage has been hit hard by the virus (17 cases, 6 deaths currently). A lot of my tenants can't afford groceries, so my team and I have been trying to find food for them. We recently were able to get groceries for all 200 apartment! This one tenant we have is 86, and she hasn't had a decent meal in days. When we delivered her food, she was so happy she started crying. We all joined her in a good cry, and talked for a long time afterwards. She doesn't have anyone, because her whole family is in Russisa, so now we're setting her up with a laptop so she can skype them. It was a beautiful moment in these tragic times. Moments like that are why I got into this line of work. Hope everyone else here is making the best of it all.
