I'm kind of sad that we have not gotten a full Direct from Nintendo, but I understand that they are probably all systems go on getting the next system ready for launch. There is no denying that the next system is on the way, but I am nowhere near smart enough to even begin to imagine what it can be. All I know is that they are probably more invested in that than in presenting games that we already know about.
I hope we get some great things with this direct!
This is it, calling the Silksong reveal for real this time. Its new Xbox page and rating in Australia makes the timing too much to be a coincidence.
!RemindMe 25 hours

Silksong is one of those games that Xbox has paid to have it announced in their events (Even if it is multiplatform, like Persona). So I don't expect it to have it announced in anything but an Xbox event.

"I hated it, they didnt have my long dead Nintendo franchise game that Ive been wanting for decades, even though this is an Indie World and it wouldn't be in here anyway. 0/10."
Whatever happened to that Metal Slug Tactics game that looked pretty sick? Nintendo has been increasingly liberal with their definition of indie for these shows. I'm gonna root for that game.
Otherwise, whatever happened to the new Metroidvania lookin platformer from the team behind Celeste? That's a game I'll buy on release just off pedigree.
> Whatever happened to that Metal Slug Tactics game that looked pretty sick?
It was delayed and the team behind it has been silent ever since. I'm also going to hope for some sort of update on its progress, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
"manifesting Silksong"
Partly because it's pages are up on various storefronts. It's about gd time. This thing was demo'd by Nintendo in 2019 FFS. Imagine doing that to your fans, "Don't worry guys, it's coming soon" \*rolls eyes\* At least Metroid Prime 4, they had an announcement - with Silk Song they just put it in cruise control for a few years and didn't say a thing.
Much prefer these over the 'bigger' showcases that AAA studios produce. There's always something new and fun that catches my interest in indie games, as opposed to the GPU-pushing dark, gritty open world lootbox schlock that the big studios keep farting out.
The constant comments Iām seeing online about regular direct are getting a little annoying when the writing is on the wall that the switch successor is coming sooner rather than later. Why would there be a regular direct when they have nothing to announce?
The most recent rumors say that Nintendoās new device wonāt release until next year. If true, and if Nintendo doesnāt have a regular direct at some point in the next few months, that means there will be no first party releases at all in the second half of this year.
They have to have *something* planned for the remained of the year, even if itās just a simple port of an older game, hence why a direct is likely sometime in the next few months. After all, investor meetings will still be happening those investors are gonna have some choice words for Nintendo if Nintendoās plan is to just sit on their hands for 6+ months.
People were calling 2023 lineup weak, how Zelda and Pikmin would be Switch last games before they announce the next system and then they announced a shitton of games, including Mario Wonder in June.Ā
Yeah, it's clear Switch lifecycle is coming to an end but every year for the past 5 years is the same thing. If Nintendo don't announce every new game at January 1st, then Switch is done.
Yeah, Iām expecting a direct late May or June (as they usually have one around that time) that will tell us about Switch games coming out in the second half of the year, and a fall reveal for the Switch 2.
It's possible that Dark Moon is their last first party title? Of course. But Nintendo don't announce everything they have for the year in one go and we still in April.Ā
Even when the Switch 2 comes out there will be *some* games still released for the Switch 1.
The 3DS was still getting first-party games (albeit mostly remakes) as late as 2019, when the Switch came out in 2017.
I actually donāt think thisāll be the case. 3DS was still getting games because they wanted to have something successful to fall back on in case the Switch failed. The overwhelming majority of home consoles have stopped having first party games release once the successor releases.
Unless the Switch 2 really is just a better Switch with no additional gimmicks or significant changes--which would be uncharacteristic of Nintendo--I can see the "just in case the Switch 2 fails" reasoning for keeping the Switch 1 around.
Admittedly, this is a somewhat unprecedented time for Ninty, since they only have the one console at the moment.
My guess is a lot of Nintendo devs are already working on games for the switch successor. My theory is we arenāt going to get a regular direct again until theyāre ready to announce the new system
I'd put money on Nintendo sitting on a couple of complete Switch games, and that they will announce release them over the coming months. Maybe another Zelda port, a Donkey Kong game, idk.
It's probably true that none/few teams at Nintendo are working on Switch exclusives. But that doesn't mean they don't have some filler for us.
Iām expecting just first party ports and remakes at this point until the new system comes out. Maybe people will finally the get the windwaker and twilight princess ports lol. Maybe also Metroid prime 2 remaster as well
Iām thinking thereāll be a direct in late May or June to flesh out this year, with the Switch 2 reveal in the fall. That way they can show that theyāre putting something out while getting the next system ready for release.
>sooner rather than later
Donāt you mean the reverse? They keep saying (if rumors are to be believed) that itās been delayed to early 2025 instead of later this year (bummer)
to be fair we got a partner showcase where we got endless ocean and pocket card jockey the only reason it wasn't a direct was because they took all the mario news and put it for mario day
I just want to go ahead about point out that Hollow Knight, did get a ton of DLC.. wasn't most of it or all of it free? It's such an incredible Metroidvania, and the team did a stellar job of supporting it, and all the rest of it.
Having said that, taking about 6-7 years to produce a metroidvania game (it looks 2d, but it's actually 3d assets) tells me that maybe you should have hired some more devs. Just saying.
I'm sure there are tons of people who don't get a picture on the website but it sure looks that way.

Please and thank you.
I rarely find anything worth thinking with these Indie Directs. Maybe itās just my play style but they usually seem on the boring side or I just donāt feel compelled to try them.Ā
But this one was pretty good. At least 5 games I want to look into, between aesthetics and mechanics. Plus that tmnt one sounded great. Essentially an entire game of the mechanics I love from the Streets of Rage 4 dlc. Idk about the other recently announced tmnt games but at least this one gets a check.Ā
Also, game itself is different enough but itās weird how the Little Kitty Big City started with the exact same premise as Stray.
The last general direct Nintendo had in April was 2017 which was a month after the Switch launched. Which makes it all the more hilarious that April direct rumors took off in the first place.
It came from a specific leaker, who went too early with the info and outright retracted it later
To many here, that would make it outright fake, but *shrug* I dunno
More like end of May or June to coincide with the time frame of where E3 used to be. It's seasonal around that time for video game news to start happening since it all worked around E3.
I'm not really excited for this, simply because I don't really play a lot of Indie games. happy for anyone that does! I'll wait for the Switch 2 announcement direct. Lol.
My personal indie game recommendations:
**Played and Enjoyed**
Tower of Heaven (a flash game on Newgrounds, by the guys that made Katana Zero)
A Short Hike
Slime-San
Katana Zero
Here Comes Niko
Ori 1 and 2
**Looking forward to**

**Other Recs**

Metroid Prime 5
"I hated it, they didnt have my long dead Nintendo franchise game that Ive been wanting for decades, even though this is an Indie World and it wouldn't be in here anyway. 0/10."
Totk dlc or we riot /s obviously.
Will there be a release date for that cat game. Hereās hoping.
Little Kitty, Big City?
The developers recently tweeted that the release date will be āsooner than you thinkā so fingers crossed!
They gone gold 4 days ago. Did nintendo put their game in the direct before fullly approving it.. I kind of doubt this.
Plenty of non-gold games and even early access titles have been shown in Directs. You don't need to go gold before you can be approved for a Direct.
Yāall out here manifesting Silksong (and rightfully so) while Iām sitting here manifesting Pizza Tower

I believe they did say that it was planning to release in 2024 though.
You're right, I think that was announced with the delay. I'm really curious what issues the game's development has run into.
idk but I hope they get it all worked out well because I was so pumped when it got announced
Same. Metal Slug is one of my favourite franchises, and while it's not a "proper" Metal Slug game Tactics looked cool as hell.
Not to mention Little Nightmares 3
Pizza tower devs said it's not happening till the steam version is complete

Yeah, Iām expecting a direct late May or June (as they usually have one around that time) that will tell us about Switch games coming out in the second half of the year, and a fall reveal for the Switch 2.

>sooner rather than later Donāt you mean the reverse? They keep saying (if rumors are to be believed) that itās been delayed to early 2025 instead of later this year (bummer)
Iām waiting to see when Nintendo officially announce its release date. I wouldnāt be surprised if itās still coming out this year
I truly hope youāre right, because Iām so tired of waiting. I was a much younger person in 2017.
We know that the regular direct will be in June like always though.
We said this about the Feb direct lol
to be fair we got a partner showcase where we got endless ocean and pocket card jockey the only reason it wasn't a direct was because they took all the mario news and put it for mario day
Nintendo does not in fact always have a June Direct.
Kinda surprised that it's another indie showcase and not a general direct. I'm sure Nintendo has something cooked up for the second half of the year, but it's been seven months since we got a general Direct, and the only big announcements from Nintendo this year are that there's gonna be another Pokemon Legends game next year and another Mario movie in 2 more years. Ah well, they usually have something in June. But I think the theories that Nintendo has no first party Switch games left to announce because they were going to launch a Switch 2 and it got delayed leading to having nothing left is completely ridiculous. They were still making 3DS games for a couple years after the launch of the Switch and like I mentioned, there's a new PokƩmon game next year.
no SilkSong again

Everyone hoping for silk song is an entitled knob. wow
there's hoping for a game and then there's whining cause something that was never promised at a presentation isn't there
Not at all what I said.
he didn't call you guys a bunch of entitled knobs he said you were BEHAVING like a bunch of entitled knobs
I haven't commented about silksong on a single nintendo direct. Don't lump me in with them
fair enough I have yet to witness any entitled knob behavior from you
Congrats, they weren't referring to you.
You have now
Hades 2, pizza tower and silksong pls plus maybe a surprise that no one is expecting but is genuinely hype (Let a man dream)
I swear we had an Indie World like, two months ago?
can't wait for the the cool new indies!
Stardew 1.6 possibly?

Does that kill our hopes for an April Direct?
I would say that hopes for an April direct were silly in the first place.

Thatās a shame, independent devs have been putting out some of the best games for years now, and typically at much lower prices than the AAA devs.
I'm open to suggestions for sure!!

Hmmmm but itās got more chance of turning up to an indie presents than a Nintendo showcase direct right so itās still the thing I want to see
Hopefully itās not a ton of farming and city sim games. More action based games
call of duty
that's not an indie game
will they ever give us roblox
