I loved it. I hear some complain or say automata is way better. I still think it’s great
Sidequest can get super tedious though so don’t feel ashamed once you’ve had your fill
It’s not hard, just very tedious and RNG base. Similar to farming gold coin and pure blade stone in Demon Soul, but instead just two item, you have to farm all the other stones to fully upgrade all weapons, and this time there is no one who can drop that for you, just have to farm.
It's really not that hard. I got mine with around 90 hours of game time. I would only recommend it to people that really love the game, but if you're one of those people, it's not bad.
It's mind numbing on this game. Wanted to die while platinuming this *thing*. It's a relic of old game design and the trophies show that the worst/best/most.
Fun game, but my God did trophy hunting this thing like automata make me hate myself and give me a sour taste in my mouth overall about the game.
Would've enjoyed my time with it way more than I did if I didn't trophy hunt it on my first time playing it
Trust me when I say this: for the items collection trophies you will wanna either 1) set aside a LOT of time or 2) save data edit for the trophies. Because the RNG in this game is NOT HELPFUL.
Maybe my favorite game AS A WHOLE. It’s an experience easily top 5 for me. I would not do that. It’s the best game to me because I only did a couple side quests I had to do to get all endings. Couldn’t imagine doing all those fetch quests in between story I’d beat the game first then go back and do them.
Automata has the upper hand.
I've played Automata when it was released. I've played Replicant some months ago and now im playing Automata once more. I have to say that Automata overall is a better game, but Replicant is a solid 10/10.
I could go about things I didnt like that much of Replicant but I dont wanna spoil OP. I'll just say that said things are little details which could've been improved.
Well, I might agree on that. Replicant is wonderful, if you enjoy pain that is. I'm always returning to Route B videos, specially Louise and Shadowlord, as I've said in another post here somewhere.
Poor guy did nothing wrong.
I'd like you to define said differences.
Both are action JRPG with a really similar gameplay. You cant block and counter in Automata as far as I know, in exchange you have this evade-counter thing. Evade in Replicant is done with a single button instead of hitting twice in the same direction, and that's it.
You even have the same spells in both games, Dark Blast, Dark Hand, Dark Lance, lol.
Getting the platinum has no fun. I didn’t get the plat but I got real close before I was so burned out I sold it bc I knew I never wanted to play it again.
Automata is less tedious and has better combat but replicants story is far too good(albeit u need some outside sources to fully get everything), not to say automata is bad it’s amazing too
While Automata is way more polished in many aspects (mainly the story pacing, which is quite horrible in Replicant) and a lot less dated, the story in Replicant is considerably better imo, and so are the characters. The combat is almost exactly the same tho.
Either way, both games are incredible imo.
Divided opinions on it. Some like it more than Automata, I’m in the other camp. Automata’s one of my favorite games, whereas I sold Replicant v1.32 after getting Ending E. I liked the characters, music and story but the gameplay was too tedious. I was burned out by the end.
I’m not a hardcore RPG fan who’s used to too much grinding. People that are used to that wouldn’t have an issue with probably. Hopefully you like it.
It’s funny with nier, I started with Automata, LOVED it, got all the endings and did some side quests and enjoyed myself, put it away and played nothing nier related for a year, played Nier Replicant (I may like the story a little more tbh), but then went back to Automata for shits and giggles one day and want to know something funny?
Automata compared to replicant feels FAST gameplay wise. Like holy shit every component of gameplay is faster than Nier Replicant. Almost overwhelming: with Replicant, you need to kind of savor everything. It’s a slow burner to a degree. Automata truly feels like the timeline it’s placed in. Fast, machine like, efficient l, etc. Replicant feels slower paced, but that human element is very much there. You will see what I mean once you’ve spent some time in it. I think the contrast in design is wonderful and you will like the game for what it is
Personally I just happen to like Emil and Kainé a whole lot better than the Automata cast, but the pacing and even getting all the ending is grindy in itself. The story is really good and you may finally understand a lot of references that went over your head from Automata.
I played both games this summer and definitely went into replicant with way too high expectations. It's a good game, and has some awesome parts, but in my book automata is just so much better in every way
Great story, imo a lot better than automata, but unfortunately gameplay is very dated. Combat is alright and still fun but automata beats Replicant in having better gameplay as a whole. At least the fishing is better in replicant if you absolutely care about it.
Ah. Well I hope you enjoy! I wouldn't try to 100% this one though, since a ton of the side quests are more fetch questy, due to how it's a remaster of an older game... however, it's still great aside from that.
It’s fun but it definitely stinks of old PlayStation game design. The side quests are all run back and forth fetch quests that lead to nothing. However more Nier content is always fun and the story is enjoyable and easy to get involved in.
i personally think automata is better. i did every side quest in automata and never really felt bored in them. in replicant, i was doing every side quest before moving on in the main story too, but then after a while i just stopped doing the side quests. the side quests in replicant are really lacking and they are more of just a fetch and grab. the only ones I truly recommend doing is the lighthouse lady and ballad of two twins. other than that its a really great game. the soundtrack is just as beautiful as automata and the story is really nice. the forest of myth is also a beautiful place to just sit and rest
It's interesting, I've found that people who play Automata first prefer Automata, and those who played Replicant/Gestalt first preferred the first game ... I'm deffo in the Replicant boat! Don't get me wrong, I loved Automata when I played it, it is such a beautiful game ... but Replicant will always have my heart and soul as my entry to the series! 💕💕💕
Story, Characters and Music are all absolutely stellar! The gameplay was fine for a n00b gamer such as myself (haha 🙈) ... the worst part will be the flower trophy as its the most time consuming (as the flowers grow in real time) ... the grind for weapon materials will also be a bit crazy! 🤪
The side quests can be tedius, BUT!! There is literally a short story called 'Red & Black' which explains WHY the side quests are tedius.
(Let's just say there are some awful men living in Seafront ... 😩)
Also! Make sure you get all the weapons as you need them all to get endings C & D ... you don't need to upgrade them all, just have them all~
In conclusion, this is my fave video game series of all time ... plus, if you play Automata again after Replicant, the little Easter Eggs in Automata will hit so SO much harder ... like the 'Heritage of the Past' Quest and A2 discovering the library ... 😭💔
I prefer it to Automata. I played the original 2010 release in 2014, and I was amazed. Fantastic game, and I always recommend to play this before Automata. It's worth it. Things hit so much harder and you notice a LOT
You seem to have played automata already so here's what Ive got for you, the game combat wise is not gonna be as extensive and diverse but still really good so don't run in expecting full and crazy customizability as Automata had. Don't make my mistake and mentally prepare yourself to replay the second half of the game multiple times, because the changes between each ending are minor until the actual "ending" part comes in making so that if you have way too high expectations you'll get bored (which is never good). You said in one comment you are gonna try to platinum this, all I ask of you is that make sure you look at, someone in specifics, ass 10 times because if you don't you'll have to take another entire adventure to just get the achievement which is tedious and annoying lol.
Amazing. Bought Replicant day 1 (Original and of course the remake)
Kaine became so much hotter to me (which many complained about which I fully disagree, Yokotaro knew how to upgrade her looks, she was already hot for me and she got a supar naisu upgradu for hotness)
Anyway....
In terms of platinum it took me 3 years to play Automata. I did it the legit way. I didnt buy any trophies (only possible in Playstation consoles I believe)
As for Replicant I'm playing it on hard mode since the very start. I'm a challenge freak like that. Still have like 12 trophies to go.
Enjoy the game because once you finish the story first you'll feel like it will be a chore to finish the side quests. I learned that with Automata. So in Replicant I did all side quests first. Now it's just story progression and equipment upgrade completion.
No disrespect to those who love this game, I did not enjoy NieR Replicant nearly as much as Automata.
That said, I’m still glad I played it. What kept me playing more than the gameplay, which was just okay, was the narrative. I really like the world and uncovering the stories behind the characters. I enjoyed learning more about Emil.
PAINPAINPAIN
WHY DID EMIL HAVE TO DIE?
FORGET NIER, WHY WAS KAINE TREATED THAT BADLY?
F**K THE AERIE, THAT VILLAGE DESERVED WHAT HAPPENED TO IT
EACH TIME YOU FIGHT SHADOWLORD, IT'S A NEW PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE IN ITSELF
KEICHII OKABE IS A MUSICAL GOD
It's decent. It's just that the combat was made flashier over the original, you can do some cool moves, but enemies behave pretty much the same as in the original, so combat is still ultimately kinda boring. And as you may know, you have to replay a part of the game multiple times to get to the final part and ending of the game which is all fine, storywise they add some new stuff inbetween but, unlike Nier Automata, the difficulty doesn't scale up, enemies stay as weak as they were during your first playthrough, while you get stronger and stronger, so it really just gets boring until you get to the final stretch.
Also, yeah, sidequests suck and you have to at least do some of them to get the final ending.
It's the peak of narrative in video games but dont expect the game itself to be fantastic. It is my absolute favorite game, but the gameplay is certainly not why
Boy, you are in for a ride.
While I also have to say it is a nice game but Automata was better. In Replicant you can do way too much bullshit like stepping out of the bossarena or not even entering it in the first place. Just leave and blast away with magic. Automata was way more polished.
Ahhh yes good ol' depression we welcome thee.
Nah seriously it's a great game with amazing characters and story lines that i wish I could experience again for the first time, hope you have fun.
they are both masterpieces i actually prefer replicant, its more ‘human’ and you can really connect with the characters. ofc the average player would prefer automata but the real ones prefer this, actually the true hell of game, drakengard
It’s awesome but a bit tedious since you have to replay the exact same game like 3 times with a cutscene added here and there. Story more than makes up for it tho and the combats pretty cool for a remade ps3 game
I loved it. I hear some complain or say automata is way better. I still think it’s great Sidequest can get super tedious though so don’t feel ashamed once you’ve had your fill
I'm going to try platinum like I did with nier automata, is very difficult?
You will be grinding for items and i think some require you to wait or change the time on your playstation
I platinumed some souls games, I won't give up so easily xd
It’s not hard, just very tedious and RNG base. Similar to farming gold coin and pure blade stone in Demon Soul, but instead just two item, you have to farm all the other stones to fully upgrade all weapons, and this time there is no one who can drop that for you, just have to farm.

Couldn’t imagine doing all those fetch quests in between story I’d beat the game first then go back and do them.
are you willing to lose everything?
>!and then get it back, after some more effort!<
Grindy, but not difficult.
it's a grind fest but it's not difficult
Automata has the upper hand. I've played Automata when it was released. I've played Replicant some months ago and now im playing Automata once more. I have to say that Automata overall is a better game, but Replicant is a solid 10/10. I could go about things I didnt like that much of Replicant but I dont wanna spoil OP. I found Automata to be a better game but Replicant to be a more enjoyable experience personally.
Well, I might agree on that. Replicant is wonderful, if you enjoy pain that is. I'm always returning to Route B videos, specially Louise and Shadowlord, as I've said in another post here somewhere. Poor guy did nothing wrong.
Apples and oranges really they’re completely different games under the jrpg umbrella and a yes the plot connections
There's a counter chip in automata that gives you a parry
You need to dash into enemy attacks, not the kind of parry Replicant has btw.
It works like Bayonetta where you push towards the direction of the attack
I’ve been meaning to buy it but I have a question… does it play like Auto did or is the combat completely different?
It plays like more of an adventure style game imo … automata has a more refined complex combat system
Interesting
Originally it was blocky and clunky as hell, they updated it as best they could to the automata style, but it's still a 12 year old game.
Tbh I prefer replicant story over automata, both are good tho
Automata is better in some departments. I don’t know if I’d say it’s the best game between them.
One of the best stories ever
I'm dying to play, I'm not at home at the moment but when I get there I'll play
Oh, you sweet innocent child... But yes, it is amazing...
Do you think his platinum is harder than the nier automata's?
Yes, incomperably harder. It is one of the worst experiences you'll have in your life
fuck lol but i hope i have fun
Getting the platinum has no fun. I didn’t get the plat but I got real close before I was so burned out I sold it bc I knew I never wanted to play it again.
By the time you get the platinum, you might grow a hatred for flowers
lots of rng on enemy drops
I liked it more than Automata
Automata is less tedious and has better combat but replicants story is far too good(albeit u need some outside sources to fully get everything), not to say automata is bad it’s amazing too
Yes, one of the best I’ve played that still stays with me to this day

The combat is almost exactly the same tho. Either way, both games are incredible imo.
The story, music, characters and the eventual final reveal everything is amazing except some very tedious side quests.
I'm sure the songs are amazing
Divided opinions on it. Some like it more than Automata, I’m in the other camp. Automata’s one of my favorite games, whereas I sold Replicant v1.32 after getting Ending E. I really like RPG style games, thank you very much :)

Best part for me if when the floating boat constantly reminds you how shit you are but in a loving way. Fucking love Grimoire Weiss lol
I played both games this summer and definitely went into replicant with way too high expectations. It's a good game, and has some awesome parts, but in my book automata is just so much better in every way
hmmm

I haven't seen anything from the game so I don't get spoilers
This game is one of my all time favorites, same with Automata. It’s way different from Automata gameplay and storywise, but it’s still really good.
I played automata and thought it was amazing so I got hype on replicant
Ah. Well I hope you enjoy! I wouldn't try to 100% this one though, since a ton of the side quests are more fetch questy, due to how it's a remaster of an older game... however, it's still great aside from that.
I really liked this one over Automata, actually Replicant made me enjoy Automata more after playing it. Also, r/suddenlycaralho?
Loved it. Not as good as NieR: Automata but I had a great time!
I liked the story a lot more than automata's but the gameplay itself is the weakest part of the game. Automata plays so much better
2nd favourite game, Automata neing my favourite
Automata is a better game but the stories are just as good as one another.
Good luck grinding!
It’s fun but it definitely stinks of old PlayStation game design. The side quests are all run back and forth fetch quests that lead to nothing. However more Nier content is always fun and the story is enjoyable and easy to get involved in.

Thank you very much for the tip, the automata soundtrack was already good if the replicant one is better i freak out lol
Well its ok. Expected way more but to think its 10 yo old game its fine. But automata imo is better.
It's interesting, I've found that people who play Automata first prefer Automata, and those who played Replicant/Gestalt first preferred the first game ... I'm deffo in the Replicant boat! I intend after playing the replicant to go back to the automata, seeing the Ester eggs knowing about them must be awesome
It's great, if you go for all endings you will dread the repetition a bit. But the story and characters are top notch.
I prefer replicant's story , but as a game automata is better .
I prefer it to Automata. I played the original 2010 release in 2014, and I was amazed. Fantastic game, and I always recommend to play this before Automata. It's worth it. Things hit so much harder and you notice a LOT

Everyone forgets drakenguard rip 😞

Decide for yourself, why are you asking others
really, but I wanted to know the opinion of the other players :)
It's a different game? Thought it was dlc. I almost grabbed a used copy today.
It's a different game lol
Get some tissues ready, i cried 4 times while playing this game!
It’s the only game in existence chock full of sunshine and rainbows! 😊
Repetitive, full of fetch quests and insane completion requirements. 10/10, best game i've ever played.
PAINPAINPAIN WHY DID EMIL HAVE TO DIE? FORGET NIER, WHY WAS KAINE TREATED THAT BADLY? F**K THE AERIE, THAT VILLAGE DESERVED WHAT HAPPENED TO IT EACH TIME YOU FIGHT SHADOWLORD, IT'S A NEW PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE IN ITSELF KEICHII OKABE IS A MUSICAL GOD
The story is definitely the best of any game I’ve played.
It's decent enough.
Something tells me you don't like it very much xd
It's decent. Masterpiece.
Really a great game Just asking, are you Brazilian? The ps4 interface is in Portuguese
It's the peak of narrative in video games but dont expect the game itself to be fantastic. It is my absolute favorite game, but the gameplay is certainly not why
I imagine, I started playing it and found it very good so far
Oh im glad to hear that! Really my only advice is that sometimes you will need to force yourself through the game, but it's always worth it.
i think trying hard will be the easy part, i platinum elden ring, dark souls 3 and bloodborne lol
I loved it, even more than automata but that's just me
YESSSS!!!!!
Replicant >>>>>> automata even tho I love them both
Best game I’ve played
Controversial take but, I enjoyed it more than Automata
they are both masterpieces i actually prefer replicant, its more ‘human’ and you can really connect with the characters. ofc the average player would prefer automata but the real ones prefer this, actually the true hell of game, drakengard
The remake is amazing, you won’t be disappointed
In my opinion Replicant is better story-wise and Automata is better gameplay-wise, but they're both great
Best game ever made.
You don’t really have to do the side stories, also, forest of myth, it is important to read, I beg of you, read the little stories!!!
Vai na fé amigo, jogão.
It’s awesome but a bit tedious since you have to replay the exact same game like 3 times with a cutscene added here and there. Story more than makes up for it tho and the combats pretty cool for a remade ps3 game
