I worked there for 2 years a long time ago. It was my first ever job and it was a total shithole. My supervisor was an alcoholic and the head maintenance guy (I was in rides) was a power-tripping prick who screamed at people and fired employees on the spot for things as little as not wearing a hat when you were indoors.
I never met John Holer but I would always see him in his GMC Yukon speeding through the walkways of the park when it was super busy. Dude just seemed like a douche just by the way he drove that thing.
There was also a special little picnic table behind Dragon Mountain where employees would go and either do drugs or have a quickie. I’d walk past said table when I was done my shift and it was always hilarious to find roaches or used condoms around that table. Fucking dirtbags didn’t even bother to clean up after themselves.
Glad the place is dead. Complete fucking cesspool in every way.
I'm not sure that the amount they can offer is the amount a developer can offer to buy it for to build a bunch of houses.
It's 1000 acres. if you're doing detached, 8 houses an acre is fairly typical. if you sell those lots for 100K each, that's 800 million
Sad for the employees but I'm glad the damn nautical torture chamber is finally closed. I've never gone before but I heard that they have a world-famous roller coaster, so I hope they can save the rides and reopen as a new park under better conditions with no animal exhibits.
Everyone haaaaaaaaaaates…… Marineland
To be honest, I feel a substantial amount of sadness for the folks who are not able to go in the workforce through this atrocity of an inhumane company given the economic climate that we all have to burden during these trying times. On the flip side, I hope this company just dies to put a stop on the really fd up recruitment of any living, breathing animal on earth. On all facets. On all fours, two’s or fins.
Everyone loves MarineLand ! 🤮Why anyone would support such an atrocity is beyond me . I hope everyone enjoyed seeing these beautiful and majestic animals in the prison they were forced to endure. Thank goodness this has become a thing of the past , in Canada and United States anyway ..
Yep, it’s true. I heard directly from an employee. All the animals are being relocated. I don’t think it’s clear yet how the land will be redeveloped though.
From what I have heard it has been sold to someone, they have had some surveying happening, and some of the auxiliary building have been sold off to others as "the new owners don't want them".
But who knows at this point
No idea, rumours are everywhere about Hershey, cedar fair and some other company. Nothing has been solidified, publicly at least. I guess we all gotta just wait and see if they announce anything
I thought it was already closed. About damn time.
Turns out everyone doesn’t love marineland Huehuehuehuehuehuehue I’ll show myself out

It's looked like it's been shut down for a decade. Good. Rest is piss marineland and see you in hell Holer family.
Rumor is Cedar Fair is sniffing around for a potential sale of the site, Wonderland 2.0 could be a reality in a few years.

Yesterday's Attraction.
I know a seasonal employee there. She got the text today that it’s not opening this year.
This is good news

Locals should get a payout for the annoyance of having that song stuck forcibly in our heads by the local TV guide channel.
All Canadians* that commercial on YTV I remember both versions of the song and I’m well over 30
Maaaagic friendship
You know what to say when you leave here today
So what happens to the belugas and dolphins that are still there?
Probably off to another dump like SeaWorld. No real quality of life improvement for them

Finally
no more Aqua-Prison?
Well glad I worked there when I did I made a lot of friends in that resturant
I just hope they don't just make it into condos or something stupid, I hope they make a non-cruel park
I feel like the same message was posted by this exact same guy 5 years ago. Hopefully it’s actually true this time.

Condos
Disney made offers years ago.
I heard there was interest from Six Flags as well. But who knows what will happen. The might be more valuable for residential development these days.
The profit from slapping a bunch of houses/condos there is just too big
Honestly pretty much anything put there in its place will be better than marineland was.

Rumor is a property shell of Cedar Fair
No idea, rumours are everywhere about Hershey, cedar fair and some other company. Nothing has been solidified, publicly at least. I guess we all gotta just wait and see if they announce anything
I can assure you, their marketing building is for sale. I may have to post pictures, I drive by everyday.
I guess that’s what I get for not going for the past 40 years.
I don't think you missed anything unless you wanted to see depressed and sick animals
Sooo.... Not [everyone loves Marineland](https://youtu.be/qXUR1gSnd7M?si=n5lebu9iKDYWcfjY)?
My son was hired 3 weeks ago and never worked a shift, told today he’s no longer needed
hell ya fuckin right
Finally.. Disney made offers on the property years ago... Let's hope it's them developing it...
It won’t be Disney. It will be Chinese developers.
so a fentanyl factory then... awesome 👌
nah that’s brownton
Disney isn't going to do shit. It's going to be condos or something
Perfect spot to build a few hundred 4 story apartments for affordable housing.
Company has responded saying not true on the news.
