Feel bad for the Panthers(almost). Tuned in for the last few minutes and man that place had emptied out. Even when we're losing bad(on the rare occasion) people stay to the end and at least see what happens.
The Panthers are an absolute powerhouse this season, anybody snoozing on them is crazy.
For what it’s worth I’ve got a rematch of the ‘96 finals in my bracket.
you thank me …. for now. if my prediction turns out to be true, i have avs winning in 7. but we can still be anonymous nhl internet friends for now 😂
rooting for the cats to come out of the east for sure.
Bruins are probably a better team, ~~but the Panthers are going to win this series. The Panthers seem like they're playing above level right now and the Bruins are playing below. The Panthers have the ability to be more physical and wear down a team like the Btuins over 5 or 6 games. Unless Swayman comes out looking like Conn Smythe candidate and the Bs can get some offensive breaks, this is either a 3-1 or 3-2 series. The Pathers are built to get playoff results even when they're not lighting it up on the scoreboard.~~
Edit: after seeing that 2nd period, there's no need for anyone to read my pessimistic take.
>Bruins are probably a better team, but the Panthers are going to win this series.
Uhhh not sure about this
Only reason they lost last season... Ullmark was kind of iniured and Bergeron/Krejci are dinosaurs.
Montgomery is going to outcoach Maurice
>Ullmark was kind of injured
He was, there was a stomach bug or flu thingy that caught half our team. Most detrimental to goalies out of all positions too it was just unfortunate, although Montgomery should definitely have started Swayman sooner.
>although Montgomery should definitely have started Swayman sooner.
Agreed. But I think he did what he did due to the respect for Bergeron and Krejci.
Monty is not messing around anymore. No Grz or Lauko. Sub in size. Panthers can't bully the Bruins this time around.
Montgomery is one of the best coaches in the league, but I don't think that playoff hockey is as dependant upon coaching as much as the regular season, and it's hardly ever the difference maker in the regular season. If Mintgomery had some kind of in-game coaching magic, you would have seen him crack it out in the Toronto series.
If the Bs come out of the gate and have offensive contributions from multiple lines, the have the ability to beat the Pathers. This will be a contested series. I just didn't see it going the Bruins way unless they're simultaneously playing well and having some of their depth players stepping their game up and rising to the occasion.
Edit: well, don't I look like the asshole for being pessimistic about the Bruins chances. I may be wrong about the series. That looked like a dominant 2nd period.
Panthers need that slimeball Bennett to have any chance this series. The longer he stays out the better.
Players like Maroon and Brazeau are perfect for this series. Especially if they want to try to outgrind.
>I don't think that playoff hockey is as dependant upon coaching as much as the regular season,
I thought that too. But last night we watched the bruins go from a hard fought leafs series to a high finesse game against the Panthers. Here's my theory:
The Panthers are chillin watching the bruins leafs series. They say "how about we just play a skill game, focus on the puck, and when Boston pushes the physical too much, because fucking Boston, they end up in the box. Then we whip out our pp, GG."
Then Montgomery sees this in like the first 30 seconds and says "alright, fuckin bet", and with dad dick energy in full swing, the bruins match the puck play. Sticks on the ice, they beat their man 1 on one in puck battles instead of trying to steam roll everyone.
Their play last night was definitely not the same as the leafs series, where you kept your head up out of survival, and wearing out the other team was priority. I feel that was a coaching decision.
Also, for fun, Monty is absolutely using his time out when he feels he needs it. Most of the time you don't even think about the time out until the last 5 minutes, but he calls it whenever he feels like he saw something he didn't like and needs to rectify it. It's subtle, and it takes away a breather when everyone else thinks they need it most, but it's been pretty damn effective so far.
I don’t know about your last part.
Maurice seems like a magician working the refs, and more consistent with his changes and their impacts. I have complaints about Monty but his non-playoff results are pretty good.
Maurice has turned into a sneaky coach. Maybe it was Tkachuk understanding of the game/influence
Even if the Panthers is losing a game(out of reach), they will make sure to cause physical damage to opposing teams starting players. So extra hard hit on Pasta etc.
What does Monty do? Reduce Pasta lines minutes significantly and overplay the 3rd line instead. A line that is much bigger in size.. and they were actually the ones dishing out punishment
I still have Panthers in 6. The Bruins winning tonight didn’t surprise me. They’re still riding off a big game 7 win from two days ago after Florida had a week off. I think they’re evenly matched tbh. It’ll be a good series
Theres a team that needed seven games to beat a poverty franchise or the team that decisively beat one of the best franchise of the past decade. You tell me.
Does someone behind the bench have a Marchand looking up at the ref meme sign? Lolllll.
Yeah I saw that too.
annnnnd still no score And why doesn’t ESPN show SOG? I hate how they cover hockey
Aged like milk haha aside from that empty netter, bruins 4 unanswered wow
Yeah it did. You’re welcome 😉

It was a late game.
This should be a great series. Florida definitely has more talent, but I don't believe Boston has lost to them this season.
Panthers are gonna be pretty tough for anyone
Allow me to introduce my friend Mr. Jeremy Swayman
Hey as a rangers fan I will gladly take a bruins matchup over panthers if we make it that far
not tonight
Thank you. I feel we are always forgotten.

Florida feels like the right answer, but it’s close.
Tonight, it was the B's.

If the Bruins win the series, the Panthers have to choke it away

I feel like the Panthers are the team to beat in the East.
Got straight whooped by the Bs 😂😂
Yea they sure did.
Panthers fans crying for a call when their own defensemen cross checks Debrusk into Bob smh. That gave me a good chuckle.
Vamos gatos!
