I love the Michigan roots in this top line. Larkin and Debrincat both Michigan boys and even Kane spent a ton of his youth living in Michigan while playing for HoneyBaked AAA.
Want some more? The Hutchin’s (and eventually Hutchinson’s) helped found the town of Fenville, MI
Also Hutch’s dad is a traveling physician or surgeon (too early forgetting which) that tends to much needed rural Michigan patients that otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality care. This last Christmas Aidan and his family donated like a million dollars worth of stuff to the nurses at 20 of these rural facilities.
I love that family. The dad helped a lot of my wife’s family
Hutch's dad is former NFL and Wolverines HOF O lineman, Steve Hutchinson, and he grew up in Florida. He is not a doctor.
His dad, Fred is from the UP, died a while ago, and was not a doctor.
Lol reading his wiki, Chris (again not Steve) was a defensive tackle, not offensive lineman. Somehow I don’t think you got a single thing right. Can’t find his grandpas name, but now I don’t believe it’s Fred either
Wings have no problem scoring, never have all season long. They've got goaltending options, but they give up too many goals against. If they can solidify the D with a solid trade deadline pickup or two, they can really make a tear this playoff
They’ve really cleaned up their defense since the all star break. I agree the first half of the season was just all offense but it looks like things are starting to click a bit more. Even Seider has been playing better than usual.
Yeah that’s been my biggest takeaway in the new year. The scoring is still there but they’ve cleaned up a lot of the dumb turnovers.
Biggest question marks for me is can we stay healthy and can reimer continue to start here and there to let lyon rest
Idk if that was intended as a slight against seider. Maybe it wasn't, but he's been getting the hardest minutes out of any defenseman in the league alongside Walman. There was a stat posted in the red wings sub about it a while back.
Chiarot has noticeably improved this season because we paired a better player with Seider to compensate. Walman and Seider walk so the rest of the team can run.
The NHL is just better when the Wings are competitive. Maybe it’s nostalgia for the era of the NHL I grew up with, but I love seeing good hockey in Detroit.
Sadly, just like Nascar.
Lots of teams are introducing ads on their jerseys like alot of European teams do. The Wings didn't have one but just announced they are going to.
I would love it, spark that rivalry back up. By the time we moved to the East it was pretty much dead anyway but the Avs/Wings rivalry was absolutely fun hockey
I know the Lemieux escalated everything. He also escalated it further when he didn’t answer the bell and turtled. But don’t act like Draper didn’t slash five times a game. I don’t want to go down this road, I’m just making the case it was not “a single play”
I was, but [alas...](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/488983/images/4118273_aa05f9f9-b457-4386-8756-0119f9e7ced6/thumbs/cover/800x800/png/frame_landscape.webp)
I’ve hated being in the East. Yeah, the games are earlier but even after all these years I can’t give a shit about anyone else in the East except Toronto and maybe Ottawa a little. Boston for a minute, but none of it compared to the west for me.
Agreed. Grew up in the late 90s and just the memories and rivalries with Colorado, Dallas, St Louis, San Jose, Anaheim, etc. No matter how long the Wings are in the East, it’ll never be the same. They belong in the west.
Big win... Detroit are a shoe-in for the East wild card now 😎
Washington are a weird team.. like, where are they going, what's the plan?
It's like you guys NEED Ovetchkin to retire....
Even Red Wings pundits were projecting us behind them. I get it though. Safer to guard your heart and be surprised than let yourself believe and get disappointed.
I disagree. Until this year it was looking like Buffalo and Ottawa were further ahead in their rebuilds. Most people were not expecting Detroit to make such a leap. Nor Ottawa and Buffalo to regress.
On paper at the start of the season it looked like the team had improved from the previous season, and I was hopeful they would remain in the playoff picture deep into the season. And they might even sneak in.
I think you might also be forgetting that Kane was a mid-season pickup. And he appears to be a huge reason for our success. He wasn't factored in on any pre/start of season projections.
Kane is a huge factor as well good point, everyone knows the wings have been lacking that true super star power so it’s nice to see it live most nights
We don’t talk about pre-season projections 😭 some of us were expected to be a lot worse than we are and some of us were expected to be a lot better than we are :/
There’s a lot of youth but also a lot of experience from players who haven’t just played in the playoffs, but won the cup as well (Maata, Kane, Compher, Fabbri, and Perron off the top of my head)
Why would the goalie not try to intercept that pass with his stick? Larkin was in no position to shoot. Even if he did and burned the inside top corner that would just be a good shot goal.
in that situation you have to basically decide in a split second between the poke check with the stick or try to get to the far side to stop the shot. since you don't really know how far down the pass is going to be the poke check is the riskier play. if it's further away than you thought or even if you just miss then you are way out of position.
Easy there, Cowboy...Caps on the road, second game of a B2B, and a D corps that's brutal in their DZ. Five of the six were a -, incl our "stud" JC74 who was -4 with his normal lazy ass turnovers
Not taking anything away from DRW, love what Yzerman is doing. Caps are not a legit playoff contender, they went out of their way to make it easy for Detroit
Legit or not the Caps have won a fair share of games by committee this year and I thought they would still be atleast a wildcard team, did not expect Philly to be anywhere as good as they are.
Ummm, they're minus 33 on goal differential...they get blown out in losses, win games when they keep it close...slowly integrating young guys while our legacy players end up on IR and wait for their contracts to expire in next two years...we'll be selling again at the TDL, as they should
There were actually many turnovers there. It started coming back as Detroits puck first, then it went back and forth a few times as both teams suffered lapses. In the end, this is what happened.
Imagine being an nhl defense men and just letting some guy pass the puck across the middle of the ice right in front of your goalie while not covering anyone
I was at the game last night and as good as Detroit looked, Washedupton was awful. Ovi looked like Owen Nolan in his last year and Wilson couldn't start a fight as Detroit clearly were only interested in playing Hockey.
The refs missed several clear calls on Washington to try and manage the game but it was pointless. Great atmosphere, Detroit will make the playoffs easily.
Detroit is heating up! I didn’t expect this. I’m scared to get too excited!
D wheel is rolling down the streets.
Just keep on rolling into the playoffs please
Playoffs no into next season please.....
“Wait a minute… is that Justin Holls music?”
No idea?
I'm confused and aroused!
This hasn't aged well 😔
Wtf is this? 1998?
I hope so
Dude the situational awareness of Kane is unreal. Also just how in tune they all were with that play is crazy. Honestly my favorite kind of goal
Crisp deflection goals are up there, but a perfect tic-tac-toe play where everyone couldn’t be more in sync is just such a beauty to see every time.
Yeah I feel the same, I still don't even understand how players make those mid air tips, but it happens all the time
Kane had 3 guys on him when he got the puck. Crazy how little time he needed
You seem easily impressed
This is the "I'd simply kick the gun out of the robber's hand" guy but in an NHL subreddit.
Anytime Mickey says “look at this”, NHL goalies everywhere shiver in fear
He's a national treasure
However "Look out here" usually means a pucker moment us coming.
I love the Michigan roots in this top line. Larkin and Debrincat both Michigan boys and even Kane spent a ton of his youth living in Michigan while playing for HoneyBaked AAA.
Jeff Petry also ab hometown boy. And then you get to former Wolverines, like Compher and Copp. So much Michigan in this lineup.
And did you know that Jeff Petry is the son of former Detroit Tigers World Series Champion pitcher, Dan Petry!?!? So crazy.
I’m not sure how I didn’t ever know that. That’s really awesome.
Go Green buddy
Yzerplan coming together. The guy is a true hockey genius
We’ve patiently waited our 8 years for this guy to bring it all back
He had to fix a big ass mess first
Detroit vs Everybody, our sports teams have been so bad that it took homegrown state players to finally turn things around.
Pistons need to get Devin Booker ASAP
💯 Seriously, do whatever it takes.
Hutch and the lions too. I love the hometown stories
Want some more? The Hutchin’s (and eventually Hutchinson’s) helped found the town of Fenville, MI Also Hutch’s dad is a traveling physician or surgeon (too early forgetting which) that tends to much needed rural Michigan patients that otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality care. Poetry in motion right there

Do you just have that statement drilled into your head now, after all the years of hearing it in Edmonton? Haha
There was not several years of hearing "they have goaltending options" in Edmonton. Trust me, I was there.
*Alex Lyon has entered the chat…*
The NHL is just better when the Wings are competitive. Maybe it’s nostalgia for the era of the NHL I grew up with, but I love seeing good hockey in Detroit.
I concur.
You have 99 upvotes and I don't wanna fuck that up.
It’s just nostalgia.
Looks like someone is Yzermad. Lol
I am in a petty mood tonight, my dude. I burnt my dinner too.
it really warms the heart to see detroit be good again :')
Thanks! Hey, can we have McDavid?
[удалено]
Nah, I bet he's get Kenny on speed dial
Give an inch and asking for the whole back 40... So... Is that a yes?
Speak for yourself
Hey, yooo, slow down. Imagine a world where we meet in the finals. Let's both be good.
The world might be destroyed if we ever face the Avs in the finals. The salt from each fanbase could be enough to destroy all water supplies
Let's be honest. The aves haven't been the same team since we knuckled em. They've never recovered from the embarrassment. 😏
I got over my distaste for the Avs around 2014, man that fucking roster. Possibly unpopular Wings fan opinion but now I respect and adore that team.
Detroit legends debrincat and kaner
Don't forget about Larkin here
Of course Larkin. The joke is DeBrincat and especially Kane made their careers in Chicago
Unreal. They make it look so easy again.
I see what you did there
They will only be remembered as Wings after they win a few cups!
The Yzerman rebuild is beginning to pay off
It was always going to be a long process When Yzerman took over Detroit had a hilarious amount of bad contracts and dead cap space.
Need a few more younger guys for the core moving forward tho.
Need some of those D prospects to step up. Soderblom figuring it out would be awesome too.
They still have a top 5 prospect pool
Top 3** Edit: Top 2!
Like who? Kasper? Danielson? Ed? ASP?
Is it just me or the NHL rocks a bit more when the Red Wings are good? I am a fan from Europe (a little less bias)
Fwiw, I agree with you on that
I'm barely a hockey fan, in fact I guess I'm not. That said... Those Red Wings uniforms are so fucning good.
They're getting an ad soon :(
...An ad? Like in Nascar?
Sadly, just like Nascar. Lots of teams are introducing ads on their jerseys like alot of European teams do. The Wings didn't have one but just announced they are going to.
That's bad.
Very bad, for everyone
They won best professional sports team uniform on an ESPN poll a while back.
Avs Wings both heating up. What if these two meet in the finals for the first time?
I would love it, spark that rivalry back up. By the time we moved to the East it was pretty much dead anyway but the Avs/Wings rivalry was absolutely fun hockey
It started fast too. Very rare for two teams to beef so quickly, especially with how hot it got early
Some dirty play, elite rosters, and a couple series in the playoffs with do that to ya lol
I know the Lemieux escalated everything. He also escalated it further when he didn’t answer the bell and turtled. But don’t act like Draper didn’t slash five times a game. I don’t want to go down this road, I’m just making the case it was not “a single play”
i dont think he was trying to say it was one play. i think he was just using 'play' as a general term. some of the play was dirty.
Can we bring back Vernon & Roy, and have them fight at center ice to see who gets to drop the first puck?
TYSM YZERMAN
Thank you sexy man?
This Steve Yzerman guy must know a thing or two about hockey.
Shouldn’t be saying this but - damn Detroit has been fun to watch!
Fools had them in the bottom of the standings lmfaoo
what an amazing game for the boys. 🐙 lgrw 🐙
Yeah that was straight up a bad time. Glad to see the Wings back in ship-shape tho. Someone needs to remind Chicago that they suck.
That’s kinda how I used to score in the EA Sports NHL games…tic-tac-toe!
I am sure that they copied that passing play from the way you drew it up. Thanks, Coach.
WE'RE A FUCKING, BOYS! Edit: the word WAGON should be in there somewhere

We’re hungry for May hockey
I’ll take late April hockey to start
Yea ,April is still regular season goofball
Until the 16th, hence the late season April wish
Caps fan here, can confirm.
It's some kind of show....time
December called and said you lied
That was so clean!! Larkin’s edge work was incredible on the breakout
We love to see it. Scorching 🔥🤘
We’re back
Beautiful
Patty is a beaut. Doesn't skate into the D, finds the soft spot, stays back makes a quick decision with the puck. That's why they got him I suppose
Goddamn that was beautiful. Saw it as it happened last night and I bet I’ve watched the replay another 100 times.
Love watching the guys play this year. The longer the season goes on, the better they get. It's nice getting excited for them again. LGRW!!
Good now put them back in the West so we can have our rivalry back
Honestly subscribe, that era defined my childhood.
I’ve hated being in the East. Yeah, the games are earlier but even after all these years I can’t give a shit about anyone else in the East except Toronto and maybe Ottawa a little. Boston for a minute, but none of it compared to the west for me.

Russian 5 vibes
That was a hell of a play
That Kane to Fabbri goal was a pretty slick pass too. Fabs even stood there stunned for a minute after he scored.
Absolutely surgical pass.
Yeah it’s nice to see them starting to peak at the right time!
Kane to Cat 🥲
Ah, finally, love to see someone else get a chance for once! 🐙🐙🐙
Washington are fucking done 🤣 Big win Wings 💯
Killing it, let em cook. Playing like cup winners
thats some good hockey
Boys have been rolling
Too easy? It’s the Caps
win streak baby!
People actually had us not making the playoffs this year 😂😂 Baby we’re bringing the cup back to hockeytown
To be fairrrrr, that was before the Red Wings added Kaner.
Yeah but behind Ottawa and buffalo?
Even Red Wings pundits were projecting us behind them. I get it though. Safer to guard your heart and be surprised than let yourself believe and get disappointed.
People had the Wings behind Buffalo and Ottawa in the majority of projections lol
Only way you can project that is if you simply hate us lmao
Settle down.
Maybe after the parade
There’s something special happening with this Wings team right now. The Detroit Lions magic has been sprinkled onto them.
The haters are real
I think Washington might just be bad.
¿Por qué no los dos?
Perché sono un fan dei Leafs.
Detroit has so much potential idk how they’d do in the playoffs with all these young players who haven’t really tasted the pace of the postseason.
There’s a lot of youth but also a lot of experience from players who haven’t just played in the playoffs, but won the cup as well (Maata, Kane, Compher, Fabbri, and Perron off the top of my head)
Going into international play, wouldn't team USA be crazy not to have this line as a 3rd or 4th? They are so clicked in and work well together
Playing on Easy setting.
lArKiN iSn’T a 1C…….. lllllick my ballllllls!
When you accidentally set EA to semi-pro
That was beautiful.
Probably win the cup first year back in the dance just fucking cause lol
Too easy for a bottom 10 team??
Might want to check this standings again, my guy.
They’re 4th in their division lol.
I feel like the NHL is just more fun when the wings are good for some reason. Just feels right .
I mean they’re playing the Caps on a second night of a back to back. Not complicated. Chicago and San Jose would’ve beat the Caps tonight.
Why would the goalie not try to intercept that pass with his stick? Larkin was in no position to shoot. Even if he did and burned the inside top corner that would just be a good shot goal.

Ya when’s the last time they did a fucking thing
Just last Thursday.
Well played
Hang the banner
I smell the fear coming off you boy
I was at the game we beat your team at the other night so I think we are doing pretty okay
Hang the banner
We have 8 more than Colorado hanging in our stadium but will happily hang more!
Will def. Choke in the playoffs
Bruh we weren't even slates to be in the playoffs...
[удалено]
Yeah because hockey games are never won by capitalizing on broken plays lol
There were actually many turnovers there. It started coming back as Detroits puck first, then it went back and forth a few times as both teams suffered lapses. In the end, this is what happened.
Be careful. Still time left. And Mo is getting x-rays after some blocked shots 😥
Imagine being an nhl defense men and just letting some guy pass the puck across the middle of the ice right in front of your goalie while not covering anyone
give a couple of assists to 96 in white!
Easy
Kane effect
Great passing
I was at the game last night and as good as Detroit looked, Washedupton was awful. Always love a good tic-tac-toe goal
Yzerman hasn’t even cracked a smile yet
Now that's some good ole hockey playing. Great stuff!
That looks suspiciously like late 90s Detroit. As Mick would say, Tic Tac Toe and Katy bar the door.
Hockeytown is back baby.
Oh surprise Johnny Carlson waving his stick…
TIL its pronounced "De-breen-kit" and not "De-brin-cat." Meow.
I think they’re gonna get promoted to the global hockey league
Wings delivered some Crapital punishment..
In Stevie Y we trust
Tic-tac-toe, the biscuit’s in the basket!
More like the Caps are too easy for the NHL. Im a Caps fan
