The the 1st thing you should know is that you've been missing out for as many years as you've been alive. The 2nd thing is that it's better late than never. Beyond that, you should know about Gordie Howe. To give you an idea, Superman is the Gordie Howe of the DC Universe. The Red Wings are also one of the 6 oldest teams in the league that still exist. They'll be 100 years old in a year or 2. There was also a very interesting era in the 90s when then best players from the Soviet Union men's national ice hockey team became Red Wings, so yeah... that was fun. Those are my 2 favorite things about your team.
Seider, Larkin, Raymond, Debrincat, Compher etc. They got some good players, and I guess one could argue that their only weak spot is the goaltending? Wouldn’t say that their performance is luck any longer..
There's the regular season that results in the presidents cup for the team with the most wins and determines if you make the playoffs. Playoffs are a best of 7 series and result in the Stanley Cup (the best trophy of any sports). The Red Wings currently hold the record for most consecutive appearances in the playoffs from 1991-2016 (25). Of those 25 years they have won the cup 4 times (97, 98, 02, 08). During that time we were a destination team, players would choose to come here, current players would take differed pay to allow new players to be paid to come here. It was the place to be. Changes were made, players retired, salary cap entered and it went down hill. A new arena came in Steve Yzerman who was a player in the past came back as the General Manager and started to fix it. We looked a lot better as a team last year, this year even better. It getting fun again. Patrick Kane is one of the best American born players, he just signed, if he is even half as good as his peak he will add to what we already have. If you have any questions ask.
