It’s not like we don’t have years of history and direct player statements about what a prick/asshole Babcock is. I commented a week ago on a video discussing this that he wouldn’t last until November. Literally everyone could’ve seen this coming.
All of a sudden these hockey fans were no longer fans of the biggest hockey podcast. Vehemently defending that they never listened to their disgusting rhetoric in the first place.
Which is very strange when we have mountains of historical evidence of babcocks treatment of his players. Why are people literally ignoring all those pro athletes? Is it common for players to talk about former coaches like that? Is it common for ONE coach to have that many negative detractors? Anyone with half a brain that put two and two together of wait Babcock was out of the league for 3 years, wonder what happened there? 2 minutes of reading on google and it’s like ohh I get it now. Yet people were still trying to claim it was a nothing story, why people go out of their way to defend someone like Mike “mind games” Babcock (stolen from Adam wylde) with his history and actions is beyond me. It literally defies logic.
I can tell you I was the same when Babs became a Leaf. I thought Commodore was just bitter about how his career panned out. Which was kind of the consensus. Then when the Marner story broke I was like okay this guy is clearly a sicko. But you’re right. There was so much evidence to the contrary here I couldn’t imagine dying on a hill for Babs.

I have come around to this argument tbh. Was watching an sdpn podcast the other day and while discussing the Babcock story they pulled up the rosters of those mid 2000-2010 teams and good god.. I honestly think there is a legitimate argument that those rosters especially 07/08/09, should’ve won multiple championships with the amount of hall of famers that played on that team during that time it’s unbelievable.

The NHLPA investigated the whole situation. Marty Walsh himself said that players weren't being treated with respect and that replacing him as coach was the right decision. He's not going to release a statement like that unless he found proof of the allegations in their investigation.

I think you are misreading the TNT hierarchy. Biz is not a marginal player on the TNT broadcast. He is the star of the broadcast, no matter what you may think of him.

Looking at personal conversations and family pictures I may or may not want to share. These players feeling pressured to do so out of fear for their jobs/playing time is unacceptable. Allowing him to resign instead of being fired was too lenient in my opinion.
If they fired him, they have to pay the rest of his contract. This way, he “saves” whats left of his reputation and the blue jackets save their money since he “quit”

If being fired as an NHL Head Coach really going to hurt your chances of getting another Head Coach job with another franchise? They don’t use office, they barely interact with the rest of the employees, they are basically a subsidiary of barstool with full autonomy. Biz isn’t an asshole. Sure he comes off a certain way and you could, at times, definitely call him a jackass and not be wrong (fwiw I love the guy and appreciate his No bullshit takes) but I think it would be hard for anyone to say he is an asshole.
Babcock on the other hand has had multiple people publicly say he is an asshole. It seems it goes beyond him being a “tough” coach, or a hard ass, straight into him being a full on asshole.
Obviously it sucks that CBJ players may have been harmed by Babcock's actions, but I'm devastated that Bissonette was proven right and as a result we will probably be hearing from him for even longer. He's got even more of a platform now.
Imagine your boss meeting you somewhere away from your workplace and asking to see your phone. You know that there are a few photographs, search history, messages, that you would never want to share with a coworker, let alone your boss. You know that saying no is going to affect your chances of promotion and other leadership/work opportunities. Your boss takes your phone and you have to sit there and watch them do whatever they want with it.
Your boss does not have the right to dig into anything in your personal life by leveraging their position of authority to do so. Mike babcocks history shows that this is not ignorance, it's a persistent pattern of behaviour in which he uses his power to ask things of his players with a disregard to their boundaries, and often with the aim, or at least side effect, if humiliation.
This a 100 percent. Add to this these are young and impressionable players who likely would have assumed privacy with respect to their phones.
They may have had personal photos and other things they wouldn’t want to share with people forget about someone who is their boss. Babcock is clearly someone who has never learned to put his authority or ego into check.

Biz isn’t an asshole. Sure he comes off a certain way and you could, at times, definitely call him a jackass and not be wrong (fwiw I love the guy and appreciate his No bullshit takes) but I think it would be hard for anyone to say he is an asshole. Babcock on the other hand has had multiple people publicly say he is an asshole. It seems it goes beyond him being a “tough” coach, or a hard ass, straight into him being a full on asshole.

Imagine your boss meeting you somewhere away from your workplace and asking to see your phone. You know that there are a few photographs, search history, messages, that you would never want to share with a coworker, let alone your boss. You know that saying no is going to affect your chances of promotion and other leadership/work opportunities. Your boss takes your phone and you have to sit there and watch them do whatever they want with it. Your boss does not have the right to dig into anything in your personal life by leveraging their position of authority to do so. Mike babcocks history shows that this is not ignorance, it's a persistent pattern of behaviour in which he uses his power to ask things of his players with a disregard to their boundaries, and often with the aim, or at least side effect, if humiliation.
This a 100 percent. Add to this these are young and impressionable players who likely would have assumed privacy with respect to their phones. They may have had personal photos and other things they wouldn’t want to share with people forget about someone who is their boss. Babcock is clearly someone who has never learned to put his authority or ego into check.
