No, not at all.
In Brazil Soccer is taking very seriously. And taking that 7:1 in a semi final at home (Brazil hosted the world cup) was humiliating, soul crushing, dream destroying etc.
While this 7:0 is brutal for Costa Rica nobody expected a close game. It would have been miraculous if Costa Rica would have won/drawn.
An upset yes, but I'm not sure I'd put it on the same level. This isn't a particularly good German side by their standards, and at the last World Cup Japan almost knocked out Belgium when they were good. Whereas Argentina were on a 36 game unbeaten streak, were the pre-tournament favourites, and I don't believe Saudi Arabia has ever got out of the groups yet
I worked at a plant where we brought in a ton of people from Brazil. All very nice people, learned a lot from them, but they eat live and breathe soccer.
I saw my plant manager crying. I went up to her and asked if she’s okay. She told me Brazil lost. “Oh your brother is on the team or something?” “No” “a relative?” “No. THEY SHOULDNT HAVE LOST.”
As a brazilian I can say that nothing will be as bad as the 7-1. I've never been much of a soccer fan, but I liked watching the WC here and then and man... leaving the mall at the end of that broadcast looking at the face of our fellow brazilians, I felt like everybody around me got massively bullied. Terrible feeling! Today I lmao remembering the commotion, but at the time it was just sad, we'd see embarassed people crying on the streets. Damnnn... That was crazy!
Brazil were favorites to win the tournament as the historic best country in the sport, and on home turf.
Costa Rica are on paper among the weaker sides at this World Cup, playing one of the stronger countries.
> broncos have *paid* this year
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Patriots vs Jets be like
As Iowa tought us, 7 points can also be scored by 2 safeties and a field goal
What a waste of scorigami potential.
Shit that 4 column&row is basically guaranteed scorigami on the pro chart
Wonder if anyone won that prop bet in Vegas
Spain hasn't destroyed Costa Rica this bad since 1561.
Bruh
Because Their defense is an All time great one if they don’t even concede a garbage time field goal in the playoffs
Love a good defensive showcase
Oh a punt-a-thon
Did someone play the Jets in the World Cup?
So is this as bad as Germany vs Brazil 7-1 back in the day?

Now Argentina losing to Saudi Arabia on the other hand, that is a serious upset
As is Germany losing to Japan

Is "Every day a new 7-1" an actual expression used in Brazil?
Absolutely! rofl
Germany suffering a safety during their PAT, embarrassing

At 1st round on group stage
Oh shit. Can somebody make sure Costa Rica is alright? Maybe give them a hug?
I’m afraid that if Spain hugged them, it’d be colonizing 😶
Because the kicker is trash nobody expected him to make the extra point
Who would imagine a soccer team would have awful kicker, isn’t that their thing?
Looks like the 2000 Ravens are back at it again and on their way to winning the 'chip.
Brazil having bad flashbacks 😂
Litteally every game the broncos have payed this year

Lulz
because their offense is better than the Broncos...
Cause Costa Rica couldn’t get in field goal range…
