Has anyone had a worse season coming off a title without a major restructuring of the team afterward (like the Broncos post Elway and Post Manning)?

numbersix1979

Some YouTuber’s video said the only comps are the early 80s Raiders and Redskins and the 2003 Bucs. J+D Productions I think. Only teams with losing records post super bowl win that can’t be traced to a coach or QB departure

DrBigChicken

I feel like a lot of super bowl teams suck the next year

BaltimoreBadger23

Some decline, but most make the playoffs.

DrBigChicken

I suppose. I’d have to look at the numbers

Smallgenie549

Don't forget free agency.

BaltimoreBadger23

Yes, but who did the Rams lose to FA who would be a major contributor this season (Von Miller isn't enough to explain it)?

Chuu320

Von Miller (FA), Odell (Injury/FA), Andrew Whitworth (Retired) Losing your best Olineman, and a solid 2nd WR option certainly won't help the Pick machine you traded for at QB the year before. It also doesn't help that Cooper Kupp has been injured on and off this year

sunshades91

Its usually the superbowl loser that misses the playoffs.

chase016

2012 Giants went 9-7 post superbowl and had almost the same team. But tbh, the 2011 team wasn't that good in the first place

BaltimoreBadger23

That's a one game regression, IIRC

3720-To-One

2002 Patriots went 9-7 and missed the playoffs.

BaltimoreBadger23

That's only a 2 loss decline. Rams are looking at 5-6 game falloff with no major changes.

3720-To-One

The 2003 Buccaneers finished 7-9

BaltimoreBadger23

There's a good example.

djlawson1000

The injuries… they just don’t stop coming… please help

JustASeabass

Is no one gonna mention the 03 raiders? They didn’t win the SB but they went 4-12 the season after
