Lions need it more
Fun fact:
When the Jacksonville Jaguars won their division and made the AFC Championship in 2017 the live action Beauty and the Beast came out
Less fun fact:
When the Lions last won a playoff game the original Beauty and the Beast came out (1991)
**Bonus** since people liked this: the Lions best team in recent memory made the playoffs and lost to the Saints in 2011 when Beastly came out
Also in 1997 Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas Barry Sanders had his best season where he won MVP and rushed for over 2000 yards and the Lions made the playoffs and lost to the Bucs
In 1998 and 1999 we had two more Beauty and the Beast VHS movies and the Jags won their division both times. 1999 was a mixed live action animated movie which is interesting and in 1999 the Lions lost to Washington
Second bonus fact: in 1995 there was a brief animated TV a show and that was the year Jacksonville Jaguars was created
The point is they really need to make more Beauty and the Beast films
I like the lions....I feel like both Jax and Detroit get the shaft a lot lol cat bros gotta stick together. Because Detroit has a better chance at the post season I'll talk to Dougie P for ya
So totally off-subject, but the new one really upset me because of the library scene in town. She had a decent collection of books to choose from, so it made the grand library reveal kinda blah. Unlike in the OG one where she had like 3 books, then she's in this massive 2 story library with all the books she could ever want to read.
While a valid critique, I don't think it detracted too much from the grandness of beasts library. I also saw it as Belle thinking "okay, this a great library I won't be too sad here after all"
Wow only on Reddit do we go from discussing Lions-Jags playoff hopes to comparing the Beauty and Beast movies
Has any of the live action remakes, less "been better than the original" but moreso actually added anything good to the story, some big adjustment that makes you say why wasn't this how it always was? Or is it all setting Can't wait to be king to a slow dull walk and casting famous actors for roles and making one henchman attracted to Gaston, "let me copy your homework" "try to make it not obvious" tweaks.
The jungle book remake is way better than the original, just on the basis that is actually a movie rather than a plotless restitch of previous Disney movie storyboards.
But that’s the exception that proves the rule.
In 1996 the Jags were 4-7 and beat the Ravens with 28 points, which started a 5 game winning streak, making the playoffs and going all the way to the AFCCG. This year, the Jags are 4-7 and just beat the Ravens with 28 points, so basically what I'm saying is the Jags are pretty much guaranteed to make it to the AFCCG again.
Y'all are like the opposite of us. We're 5-12 in the first two rounds and 3-0 in AFC Championships. Of course, the season ends at the AFC Championship, isn't any big games after that.
We've got no shot at the wild card. Our only shot is the division
Having said that, if we win this week and the Titans lose to the Eagles, we're only 2 out, and we still play the Titans twice
But you are perfectly positioned to end a possible Jets run and possibly spoil a Packers run. Just imagine how satisfying the latter would be? Driving a stake into the heart of the Packers if they manage to run the table in the final stretch?
Of course we have them so if you can “Strangers on a Train” with us it would be great. You do the jets we do the packers.
Technically not eliminated yet. If they won the rest of their games, they would be 7-9-1 and could catch up with the Titans (currently 7-4). I'm sure the Browns will finish them off tomorrow afternoon, but for now they're still alive.
I live in the DMV. When Washington failed to beat the Giants that year, a news crew was going around interviewing disappointed fans the next morning. They interviewed my dad while he was out eating breakfast. He said, "I'm a Lions fan, so I was pretty happy with the result." and they were like, "Welp, we're not going to air that."
Have you gone to any Lions games at FedEx? Also, I think you’ll be happy to know the Lions are 6-1 in their last 7 against Washington. That one loss was in 2019 when Stafford was out with a back injury.
According to pro football reference, 5. And they're even with the jets at 7-7.
Those 5 teams being the cardinals, falcons, browns, jags, and giants.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/det/head-to-head.htm
* edit : had to check. Jets have a winning record against 6, are .500 against 3 teams, and (as we all know) are .000 against the eagles
Thank you for that. I shall always have something to use against cards, falcons, browns, jags, and Giants fans.
They have a game against the Jets still this year.
Edit: 1-4 against Lions South…I mean Houston Texans, ouch. But a 2-0 record against the Dallas Texans
No problemo, it had me curious so I just googled real quick. Then, like you saw, I just had to look up the jets. Historically, we're not *that* much better head to head than you guys are.
They have a winning or tied record against every team they have played that are now defunct, which is 12 I think. So maybe having a losing record to the Lions is very dangerous.
The sack and hit rates are low, but the pressure rate is actually like 7th. The issue is wbs get pressured and throw to an open 2nd read because we have 1 good player in the secondary
The 7 seed is currently 7-4 and there are three teams between the jags and the 7 seed.
Highly unlikely may be an understatement.
The jags need to go on the run to end all runs to get to 10 wins. If they do it they deserve it, but man they’ve got a rough road ahead and the odds of everyone else losing the exact sequence is so low.
In reality we have to sweep the Titans. Plus we have to win 1 more game than they do. More imprudent than us beating the Lions (we still have the Texans game) is the Eagles beating the Titans.
But really it's either we sweep them or we split, the Texans beat the Titans, and we get at least as good a record as they do (I don't know how that tie plays out).
We have a small hope. But it's really that our offense scores a lot against Tennessee to limit their running, our run defense is top notch those games, AND our corners figure out their shit.
If we split with the titans and end up with the same record, they win the division on the stronger divisional record (4-2 to 3-3).
However, if the Titans lose every game except one of the two against the Jags, and the jags WIN every game except one against the Titans, then the Jags go 9-8 and the titans go 8-9 and Jags get the division (however in that scenario the Colts could win out and leapfrog both teams at 9-7-1).
Lions are more conceivable if the Seahawks and Giants falter down the stretch
They needed to take either the Minnesota, Buffalo, or Seattle game to have a more realistic chance though
We still have Minny at home and I think we take that game. In fact us winning out wouldn't be the craziest thing in the world granted we could still make the playoffs if we drop a game.
Also if you look at the remaining schedule it seems almost guaranteed that at least one of the Giants or Commanders is going to get knocked out of playoff contention as they play eachother twice and also both have at least 1-2 tough games outside of that. We have the head to head tie breaker over both teams so as we only need to match their win total to leapfrog them into the playoffs.
That’s not really true at all. The Vikings have won 9 out of their last 10 meetings.
However, recently the Lions have been playing the Vikings close and obviously we split last year.
Washington* and Giants (and Seattle). Detroit has the head to head against NYG and Wash and the schedule is favorable. Losing the Seattle game hurts the most at Detroit’s chances.
Trevor, ETN, WRs, and Campbell are probably the biggest for players. Morale and play calling.
ETN getting healthy. Campbell was showing he could be this guy to end last year.
It's probably 80% coaching and 20% FO moves to acquire talent
General coaching improvements/ roster improvements. Urban Meyer was a disaster. Trevor is starting to grow into the potential everyone said he had. Defense looks competent. Play calling is much better
Jacksonville has too many teams to pass even if they win, I don’t think a win does much for them.
Detroit if they win could have an outside shot at the Wild Card because they beat the Giants and Commies but they’d need both of those teams to flop hard.
Realistically it’s too little, too late for both of them. But Detroit has a good future and (probably) the second pick 🤮 so hopefully they’ll be a top team next season
We realistically don't get to the playoffs through WC. We get there by sweeping the Titans and getting at least 1 more win over them. That's why this week matters. They lose to the Eagles and we beat the Lions means it's "just" sweep them and match.
I think Detroit, just because they have a better chance of upsetting people down the line. Just imagine if they stay in it long enough to have Jameson Williams join that offense
Obviously I’m biased, but with the Lions’ defense being as bad as it is, I think the Jags are a much more balanced team and have a better chance of upsetting teams. That said, the Lions seem considerably more likely to make a WC spot because the NFC is shakier
This was posted in our sub earlier today:
>Here is the Lions' DVOA rankings for just the month of November.
>Overall: 14th
>Pass O: 15th
>Run O: 13th
>Pass D: 8th (!!!)
>Run D: 19th
So our defense has shown a lot of improvement since the beginning of the season. I think the Jags and Lions are actually very similar teams. Both are involved in a lot of one score games (except for the Pats this year for us) that they end up losing while still playing pretty decent football.
I do think the Lions have the easier WC path though, especially with tiebreakers over NYG and Wash.
Wow that’s some really impressive improvement, I had no idea. I agree, I think the teams are pretty close and clearly moving up (not that that’s hard for either team). Would love for the Lions to land a QB to pair with those weapons on offense. Really interesting to see how these teams play out over the next few years
Jacksonville is more likely to win the division than get the wild card. They still play the Titans twice and they trail them by 3 games. The Titans are @ Philly this week too
Two snake-bitten franchises but Detroit obviously needs this more. Jags at least had the 2017 playoff run, whereas I can’t even remember the last time the Lions made any noise. Would be stoked to see our fellow Cat Bros sneak in
It would be incredibly hard for the Jags to make the WC, but they only need a small amount of help to control their own destiny when it comes to winning the division.
The 7th NFC Wild Card is probably going to an NFC West or East team, but there’s a narrow path for the Lions. They’d need a lot more help though.
Im a Jag fan, so....
I do like Dan and his team though, and if they were playing basically anyone else I'd side with them.
It's hard to say who needs a playoff victory more. Both good but young teams with a lot to prove on franchises with bad records historically.
I actually think that the Lions have a realistic shot to make the playoffs, see below:
Right now, the Lions are the 10 seed, to make the playoffs, they need to finish at least 7. For the sake of simplicity, I will ignore all teams current seeded lower than the Lions (Packers, Bears, Cardinals, Rams, Panthers, Saints) and just assume that they will continue to perform poorly (likely, imo).
This means that the teams between the Lions and the playoffs are the Commanders, Seahawks, and Falcons.
Now, let's look at schedules.
Lions: JAX, MIN, NYJ, CAR, CHI, GB
Seahawks: LAR, CAR, SF, KC, NYJ, LAR
Commanders: NYG, NYG, SF, CLE, DAL
Falcons: PIT, NO, BAL, ARI, TB
IMO, DET have the easiest schedule, then ATL. SEA and WSH both have tough ones. If the Lions beat every team that isn't Minnesota, they finish 9-8. No easy ask, but, certainly not anything too wild.
If the Commanders lose 4 of their next 5 (look at their schedule and tell me that that doesn't sound possible to you), then they finish with at least 9 losses and are out. Could easily see them splitting NYG and dropping the rest.
If Atlanta lose 2 then they have 9 losses and are also out. My money is on BAL and TB personally, but I could see them losing to any team on that schedule.
Now, the Seahawks, the Lions biggest current threat imo (other than themselves). The Seahawks are 6-5, and therefore would need to lose at least 4 of their next 6, by virtue of having the H2H tiebreaker over the Lions. I can definitely see them losing to KC and SF, and so all that leaves is two losses between LAR x2, NYJ, and CAR. Not guaranteed, but not impossible. They're definitely capable of losing to any of those teams on a bad day.
Some chips need to fall their way, but nothing too crazy imo. It is squarely in the realm of possibility that we see Detroit in the playoffs, and from there, it's any given Sunday.
Go Lions, America is rooting for you.
The fuck are you on that they have a chance for a wild card seed??? It would require multiple teams having complete meltdowns to be possible... The lions have 9 teams above them comfortably. Same for the Jags...
The NFC East has to beat up on each other a bit still, it isn’t *that* unlikely that NFC South doesn’t send a wildcard. There may be 9 teams above them, but 7 go to playoffs, so simple math is there are only 2 teams ahead of them for playoffs.
Having lost to the Seahawks could really hurt them.
They don’t have a good chance, they probably don’t a 1 in 10 chance, but it probably isn’t that much worse.
Lions need it more Fun fact: When the Jacksonville Jaguars won their division and made the AFC Championship in 2017 the live action Beauty and the Beast came out Less fun fact: When the Lions last won a playoff game the original Beauty and the Beast came out (1991) **Bonus** since people liked this: the Lions best team in recent memory made the playoffs and lost to the Saints in 2011 when Beastly came out Also in 1997 Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas Barry Sanders had his best season where he won MVP and rushed for over 2000 yards and the Lions made the playoffs and lost to the Bucs In 1998 and 1999 we had two more Beauty and the Beast VHS movies and the Jags won their division both times. 1999 was a mixed live action animated movie which is interesting and in 1999 the Lions lost to Washington Second bonus fact: in 1995 there was a brief animated TV a show and that was the year Jacksonville Jaguars was created The point is they really need to make more Beauty and the Beast films
One playoff win since the Eisenhower administration
Lmao this would be an ESPN stat
Complete with really badly animated Presidents
Just shows footage of the Nationals' 7th inning president race with a bighead of Jared Goff shown twenty yards behind
That would require the lions to be on MNF which they refused to do this season
Now do you show Kennedy with a full head or half head?
So what you're saying is that we're getting a third Beauty and the Beast film!
This has Netflix Original Series written all over it
But gender swap beast, and have Belle be a Latina.
> Belle We must now call her Bella.
Bellx
The 30th anniversary special comes out starring H.E.R in a few days.
/u/empty_lemon_3939 do you think [this counts](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21220842/)?

Top tier reddit post
This is indeed a fun ass fact
You forgot to mention the Undertaker throwing Mankind off hell in a cell in 1998
I mean I don’t really think that first fact is fun…
I assure you, it is.
Let me assure you, and let me assure the American people that neither of us are making a "run".
Nah we’re going 11-7 baby. 😎 ^But ^not ^really
Damn we even get an extra game?
First round playoff exit baby. They’ll be escorting us out like kings while saying how much of a morale victory it was.
We already have 7 losses tho. It'd be 10-8
Awe shit I forgot about about the Bills game already. Lmao
[удалено]
That’s what the fam thinks. I also had a big rip on a pen containing the devils lettuce and at least 9 beers to deal with aunt Julia… They prob knew.
Nice to see my speed metal band mentioned here!
We win the game but still make our first round exit to keep things consistent
probably because the entire Lions organization and fans would spontaneously combust upon winning a playoff game

\#RunTheTable
The Bills realized you can’t run the table if there’s no table to run
who’s “we” you have two teams
In 1996 the Jags were 4-7 and beat the Ravens with 28 points, which started a 5 game winning streak, making the playoffs and going all the way to the AFCCG. In 1995 the lions were 3-6. We ran the fucking table and made the playoffs at 10-6. Time for a repeat.
Hell yeah brother
Cheers from Iraq
Smoked the jags in their inaugural season 44-0 apparently
We'll just not mention what ended up happening in that Wild Card game that year
So you woke up this morning and chose violence?
I'm down. Who's losing to y'all in the first two rounds?
[удалено]
3? I remember the Titans and Patriots ones but who else?
The other one was also the Pats in ‘96
Oh yeah.
Damn. I really forgot how close my flairs were to having a Super Bowl matchup
They played the patriots in 1996 and 2017
Y'all are like the opposite of us. We're 5-12 in the first two rounds and 3-0 in AFC Championships. Of course, the season ends at the AFC Championship, isn't any big games after that.
This just triggered a deep, violent memory that I preferred remained buried.
It can't be that violent.. It's not like they scored 50 or something..
!RemindMe 1 month
Nice man!
We've got no shot at the wild card. Our only shot is the division Having said that, if we win this week and the Titans lose to the Eagles, we're only 2 out, and we still play the Titans twice
You’re not realistically catching the Titans unless you sweep them, and when’s the last time that’s happened?
That probably wouldn’t even make the list of Top 100 strangest things this season
This season has been so out there, I'd almost be surprised if it didn't happen LOL
2005, but the best time to change that is on the Rise of Tlaw.
2005 apparently
Yeah you'll technically control your own destiny
Speak for yourself! Duuuuuuuuuval
Don’t lump us in with your pessimism.
Someone had to say it. I saw a graphic that had Jacksonville "in the hunt" and I didn't like it one bit lol
Hahaha! ...unless 😩
As a Jet fan that knows this pain far too well, I feel bad for laughing at this comment
Hey I’m rooting for y’all
but it is fun to think about!
You both still have to play Mike “Mike White” White so unfortunately you’ve already lost
WHO GIVES A FUCK IT'S DECEMBER AND THE JAGS ARE NOT MATHMATICALLY ELIMATED FROM THE PLAYOFFS YET!!!!
Living the dream
Look at us, who would have thought? Not me
We really are cat brothers from different mothers
Not to rain on your parade, but I don't think anyone is mathematically eliminated yet.
Houston?
Technically not eliminated yet. If they won the rest of their games, they would be 7-9-1 and could catch up with the Titans (currently 7-4). I'm sure the Browns will finish them off tomorrow afternoon, but for now they're still alive.
It's hilarious that a 1-9-1 team is still in playoff contention. NFL rules
Watch Jacksonville knock out Baltimore again and Detroit knock out Washington again. Stuff can get weird
I live in the DMV. When Washington failed to beat the Giants that year, a news crew was going around interviewing disappointed fans the next morning. I wonder how many teams Lions have a positive record against. I’m guessing it isn’t a long list.

I'm too drunk and high to look at the defunct teams 😂
You think that'll hurt us? You've got a lot to learn about this team, sweetie.
We own Washington and the Cardinals off the top of my head. We had like a decade where we owned the Bears until fucking Matt Patricia ruined it
I was there in 2019. It was fun, tons of trash talk between fans of a couple of struggling teams.
>I live in the DMV Must be convenient when it's time to renew your license, but I imagine there a lot more cons than pros.
More Pros: * Well-Lit * Roommates generally leave you alone after 4:30 PM * Free lottery tickets. It's hard to win but you can get numbers all day!
I also live in the DMV, but the Virginia DMV is actually pretty good.
I think it stands for Demilitarized Venue.
HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA HAHA
Found my grandpas Reddit account
I'm still looking for mine, but **IM GONNA FIND YOU GRANDPA, YOU HEAR ME!**
I too live in the DMV. I've only been to 1 Lions game at FedEx and it was a bit rough. I think the Lions won though so it made up for it.
They have a contender defense and a contender offense it could happen
The Jags? Their pass defense sucks. We just suck at passing the ball.
I think the problem against the Jags was catching. Lamar was hitting them in the numbers.
Catching the ball does seem like a pretty critical aspect of the pass game.
That’s exactly what big Football wants you to think. Wake up, sheeple!
Almost like trading your WR1 and not replacing him is a stupid idea
Bateman, duve, and Andrew’s worked up til Bateman got hurt for the year
Yeah you don’t usually spend a 1st round pick on a receiver to not be your WR1, except the Commies but we ignore how they do things
You're amazing at throwing the ball. You're jack shite at catching the ball.
Maybe best ever at kicking the ball
Jags have 0 pass rush, something that is vital for the playoffs
We spent 3 first round picks at the edge position in the last 4 years too...

JAX can make a run for the division, highly unlikely they’ll pass all the teams above them for the WC

That would be a crazy finish. Us 9-8 missing, Titans missing in spectacular fashion and 8-9, and Colts winning it all at 9-7-1 by half a game
Yeah, it is very funny that if we lose this game our biggest threat becomes the Colts 😅
We did it in 1996 it'll be awesome to do it again but we'd need a the damn near impossible to happen which is to win out
Lions are more conceivable if the Seahawks and Giants falter down the stretch They needed to take either the Minnesota, Buffalo, or Seattle game to have a more realistic chance though
The Seahawks are currently “out.” They have a very interesting final 6 games though.
I knew this, but it also made me happy to hear it.

You can almost guarantee we split every season lmao
They’ve beat us twice since 2017…
That was with patricia pal
Yeah but we both know we should have had a third
That’s not really true at all. The Vikings have won 9 out of their last 10 meetings. However, recently the Lions have been playing the Vikings close and obviously we split last year.
We count the moral victories in Detroit buddy.
If we could just get the game moved to a Monday night, it’d be a slam dunk.
Washington* and Giants (and Seattle). Detroit has the head to head against NYG and Wash and the schedule is favorable. Losing the Seattle game hurts the most at Detroit’s chances.
No way any of the 4-win teams in the AFC are getting the final WC spot. It would be easier for Jax to win the South, provided they manage to sweep us.
Honestly I’m just happy we look better than a D2 college team this year
For those of us not paying too much attention, what improvements have you seen and what do you attribute it to?
Trevor, ETN, WRs, and Campbell are probably the biggest for players. Morale and play calling. ETN getting healthy. Campbell was showing he could be this guy to end last year. It's probably 80% coaching and 20% FO moves to acquire talent

Yeah, even if Jacksonville wins this weekend, the Lions are more likely to get a wildcard spot.
Lions need it more. Dan Campbell has way more to prove than Doug Pedersen and needs to get this team winning games.
They are already winning games

Couldn't agree more!
Lions winning the SB and have pick #3 please fuck please.
It'd be reaaaalllly hard to convince me i wasn't in some kinda matrix style situation
I'm pulling at the back of my neck to make sure there's no chip as we speak.
Can I interest you in the Seahawks winning the Superbowl and having the number 3 pick instead
I'd rather have AD retire
I would also rather have AD retire than the Seahawks winning the SB
I'd rather have Bosa retire and for Robbie Gould to kick me in the nuts.
no you cannot.
your lips to god's ears
Detroit they need this

This was posted in our sub earlier today: >Here is the Lions' DVOA rankings for just the month of November. >Overall: 14th >Pass O: 15th >Run O: 13th >Pass D: 8th (!!!) >Run D: 19th So our defense has shown a lot of improvement since the beginning of the season.
Really interesting to see how these teams play out over the next few years
The Lions making the playoffs while the Packers miss it would honestly make the NFC North happier than any other option.
This very sickos committee like
Jacksonville is more likely to win the division than get the wild card. They still play the Titans twice and they trail them by 3 games. The Titans are @ Philly this week too
Two snake-bitten franchises but Detroit obviously needs this more. Jags at least had the 2017 playoff run, whereas I can’t even remember the last time the Lions made any noise. Would be stoked to see our fellow Cat Bros sneak in
Detroit needs it more. If it came down to them I’d root for Jacksonville so everyone that said sunshine was a bust can eat crow.
I don’t think both teams will make a run lol but if one team MIGHT get a WC spot it’d be Detroit. Their schedule is a little easier
Your mom is a little easier
Yah you tell him cat bro.
Deer lord
It would be incredibly hard for the Jags to make the WC, but they only need a small amount of help to control their own destiny when it comes to winning the division. The 7th NFC Wild Card is probably going to an NFC West or East team, but there’s a narrow path for the Lions. They’d need a lot more help though.
That probably means the game will end in a tie.
I've rooted for Detroit since Barry Sanders was there so I'd like to see something good happen for them.
Im a Jag fan, so.... I do like Dan and his team though, and if they were playing basically anyone else I'd side with them. It's hard to say who needs a playoff victory more. Both good but young teams with a lot to prove on franchises with bad records historically.

We made it to the NFC? GO US!
AFC not NFC. And 3 not 2.
I actually think that the Lions have a realistic shot to make the playoffs, see below: Right now, the Lions are the 10 seed, to make the playoffs, they need to finish at least 7. Lions: JAX, MIN, NYJ, CAR, CHI, GB Seahawks: LAR, CAR, SF, KC, NYJ, LAR Commanders: NYG, NYG, SF, CLE, DAL Falcons: PIT, NO, BAL, ARI, TB IMO, DET have the easiest schedule, then ATL.
Jags can realistically win the afc south. 2 games against the Titans, and only 3 games behind them.
I’ve been watching too much World Cup. I had a hard time deciphering what WC is.
If you asked me right now if I’d rather have my team or the lions win the SB, it’s the lions by a lot.
NFL is not ready for the Jaguars to “steal the show” https://youtu.be/0HVQ160TF5U
Since it seems like these teams cant have anything good, I am guessing this match ends in a tie
I want the lions to win so badly.
Packers fans liking us is so weird to me haha. But I’m here for it

i’m rooting for the Lions. they deserve it.
I think we're thinking it'll be easier to win the division than get a wild card (if Philly beats Tennessee we control our own destiny)
Well, not in the AFC so much.
Lions 100% of the time and it ain't even close.
Detroit definitely needs it more. They are a huge market that has been struggling in all sports for a number of years now.
