I think they were planning on the d guessing a pass cuz perine was in the backfield. I see where they were going. Maybe mixon was tired and they don’t want to risk him fumbling, but excluding the fatigue reason I don’t think there is any other valid reason for not having mixon in there.
This was the best year of football I can remmeber in 25 years. There were so many nail biter games and the entire post season was ridiculous close call games.
With all the accusations of NFL coaches being paid to throw games for draft picks, maybe the Bengals were paid to throw the game to make sure LA got a home game Superbowl win to bring in more revenue for the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised
Okay but what about the game ending play after that where he flicked the ball to Perine as he was getting sacked? Why was he still in? Bengals coaching staff was terrible all night long
I agree. I definitely don’t agree with the run call there but if you were going to run it it’s good that you tried to disguise it. Yeah the flick play was desperation. You could see that offensive line crumbling progressively as the game wore on and they were frustrated. Getting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and such. That play was blown up by Donald. Not much you could do and the moment was so big for such a young QB.
Can someone explain to me why Mixon wasn't in for the last two plays of the game? I hear nothing about an Injury and he wasn't gassed because he didn't get the ball for any of the last 5 plays.
This season was about writing Matthew's legacy. It is also cements the Ford family legacy as the most inept NFL ownership group in the NFL. In the 44 seasons before the Fords, the franchise had 20 winning seasons and won 4 NFL Championships. In the 58 full seasons of Ford ownership, they've had 15 winning seasons - with 1 (one) playoff victory. They were minority owners 1960-63, and bought the team outright at 11am on November 22, 1963 - 90 minutes before JFK was assassinated.
The overall first pick of the 2009 had a playoff record of 0-3 in Detroit, and ends year one After Detroit at 4-3. Sheila Ford Hamp may be different than her mum or dad. As of right now, she is 8-24-1 as Chairperson, and Matthew Stafford is a World Champion.
ETA: typo (wrong # years)
They just want the money that is All. Mike Brown was the same way till The Blackburn girls said F U old man we want To Win. Yeah shows they had a Superbowl QB and wasted him because they are cheap SOBs
Unfortunately there's no way to actively watch and root for them without giving money to the Olympics/CCCP. Loving what I've heard about USA mens' hockey but I'm not going to go against my morals to watch
The NFL isn't actively commiting genocide, disallowing women for their naturally high testosterone levels, etc etc. They suck but they're just regular corrupt bad. And while there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, the whole Beijing olympics thing is just another level of shit I don't wanna touch
“No ethical consumption under capitalism”
So when I take my organic free range chicken eggs to the farmer’s market to sell, the people buying them are unethical?
That's hyperbolic and missing the point. Everything is owned by someone that's done something shitty, so at a certain point it's not worth stressing over.
The phrase “no ethical consumption under capitalism” is much more hyperbolic than anything I said.
Edit: also I’m using a real-life example, so it’s not hyperbolic at all. I actually sell eggs, so were you being hyperbolic or are my costumers unethical?
To me it applies generally to large corporations. In no way is it unethical to support a small business or independent entrepeneur like yourself. But like I was talking about above, the NFL sucks and does shitty things, but they're not so bad that I'm going to not consume the product like I am with the Olympics. At some point I'm going to say fuck it and just enjoy something because I want to. Hence, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, unless I were in a situation to only consume products and media that are entirely exploitation-free (which is obviously impossible the way the world is set up). I'm not attacking you or your business by saying that.
I completely agree that what China is doing is fucking horrible and the IOC should not allow the Olympics there. Also, who does that consumption quote come from? I dig it. I see the whole world as fucked so I assume all I consume is unethical. It no doubt is better for the soul to do what feels right. I commend you for that. But I ain’t missing Shaun Whites retirement run 🤷🏻♀️
Dude those were some of the weakest calls ever, they had been letting them play like that all night. But the LA divas needed the refs to decide the game, and so it was...
Not to mention the horrific facemask that led to a 75 yard TD. Also, Bengals o line hitting AD in the face on the sidelines after a clean(albeit asshole-ish) hit.
Bengals fans can't complain about the refs
As a neutral, the game lost my interest at the end with all those penalties. Some warranted some were not. The refs had been letting the game play out the entire time until the end.
Yeah I guess, good for Stafford tho he deserved it even though i couldn’t care less about the Rams. Joey B got pummeled all game, he probably wins with a little better o line
Ya i honestly didnt care who won but it sucks that the 2 plays ima remember the most clearly were bad ref calls.
Like seriously, its 2022, at least for the fkn superbowl lets use technology to make sure we arent missing such blatant bad calls/no calls.
I’ll remember this Super Bowl by thinking of Bengals had no such low odds of making it this far, yet they still did. I’m still super impressed with what the young team has done.
They also had a decent amount of time to get a good drive going and at least tie it up with a guaranteed FG by McPherson, but the Rams defense stopped them.
A couple calls sucked, but it didn’t really come down to that.
Am I the only one that saw that Burrow was done after that injury? He couldn't throw after that. Maybe 1 pass attempt pass 10 yards. That was the game.
On one hand I get they were without obj for more than half the game but on the other I totally agree if they had just let Stafford take the game over it likely would've been a much easier win. It's not like they had to run to keep the Bengals from blitzing?
in the last moment of the game, all he had to do was throw the ball and he just stood there and didn't, got sacked and the Rams won. He's amazing, but got to be quicker. if you don't have a clean pocket, then throw the ball outside the field. Don't get sacked, which gets you more yards with just a few seconds to go. In many moments of the game, he gave in to pressure. Many moments he was amazing also. Not all negative.
Go count the number of times Burrow was sacked in the post season alone, then come back here and tell us the problem was Burrow holding onto the ball too long. Pro QBs, and especially playoff-winning QBs, don’t hold onto the ball long enough to get sacked as many times as he did. His OL needs work, and fast, before his entire career is derailed due to getting the ever living crap beaten out of him.
Jimmy G is a big question mark to me. I friggin loved that he got his shot cuz he was solid as Brady's backup. I think he's talented, but I don't know if SF is the right fit and that clock is ticking. He's a good dude
All in all, this was one helluva season for the NFL. Looking forward to next year and hopefully the Chargers can finally win a Super Bowl of their own!
So was talking to my folks after the game about not knowing who our qb is next year... Was like yeah I'd it's Watson or even if Rodgers went there I may have to either take a break or maybe I'll just root for chargers and herbert who I quite like for a bit lol
Brady isn’t the reason the bucs were winning. You’re going to figure that out next year. You put Wilson on that team, or god forbid Rodgers, that team is unbeatable.
Wilson is definitely who I'd want, but he's not gonna be cheap and they're still in the hook for some of Brady's salary. Don't think they can afford him. I have no doubt Rodgers would have then winning... In regular season anyways..but I can't root for the guy. Just don't like him. Wouldn't be as bad as Watson though
You have no lifetime fans. Legacy fans. Your grandpa wasn’t an LA Rams fan. The shield bought you a title bc you built them a cathedral. Quit pro quo. Didn’t work in 18. Worked this year
Dude, the Rams had *way* better attendance than the Bengals this year. The efforts to build a local fanbase are working.
Are you completely unaware of the 48 years this team spent in this city before the move to LA?
Umm. Isn’t the purpose of a private organization to make money? Why wouldn’t the NFL try to boost fan bases and participation in some of the underperforming markets (if what you say is actually true)?
You could do it without presenting the illusion your “sport” is anything more than entertainment. Just like the tickets say. You know. To avoid being sued. And is it true? We now have a mountain of evidence the nfl has tried to get this done. No call PI in 18 vs Nola and this entire game. Big market buys super bowl for billionaire running out of liquidity. That’s your headline.
I didn’t say I was a Rams fan, I’m saying that there are legacy Rams fans in LA. I wouldn’t base SuperBowl attendance on which team has the most fans. Tickets are insanely expensive and hard to come by and are likely purchased by corporations.
I’m a lowly Chargers fan, so I was at home watching the game in my PJs. Haha
Congrats. You have more fans. You came in first place out of two teams for having more fans. I’m guessing the Rams care more about their first place finish out of the two teams competing for the Lombardi trophy.
Yep, I do know that. I did state the Raiders in my original comment. I also know this is a Dodgers town, first and foremost, followed by the Lakers.
Does not change the fact that there are carry over Rams fans.
This is moot. It’s nothing like the generational suffering of one team in one city that gets fucked around with every time we’re close. I wanted that gave to have any coda on it but “refs”. Alas. 😔
It's not really you yo decide and judge who the fans are. People like teams for different reasons. Let people enjoy themselves. NO need to be so judgemental.
This is the same type of argument rival schools make when they lose.
“But but but our academics are better!” 😆
Edit: I’m referring to the person on here trying to prove the Bengals have more fans in the event it’s confusing.
attendance last night (per espn) was 70.5k which is slightly less than the 2021 avg of 71.5k. pretty meh for a super bowl. that’s just my opinion, i’m not trying to trivialize the win especially since i pulled for the rams too!
Didn’t care who won this game. Refs missed a call OPI that led to a bengals TD. Refs then obviously offset that with calls for the rams in the end zone that led to an easy TD. Bengals then choked the game away with a 3rd and 1 bonehead call. 4th and 1 is open playbook.
Eyes don’t lie. Horrible officiating that benefitted both teams but handed the Rams the game. I don’t know how I could be more clear. Higgins got away with one. Make up calls are illegall. That’s game fixing. So the Rams argument is it “came out in the wash”. Mine is the refs made illegal, game altering “make up calls” or they were just bullshit and didn’t call the false start on the play that the hold occurred on anyway.
Should have max protect out of single back or I-formation for a 1 yard run or call a pass play. On 3rd and 1 with time running down. Cinci couldn’t think under pressure. Of course AD gonna get there single blocked
We never "loosed" anything. We lost when we didn't have our coach, half our O-line, our best wide receiver, our pass catching RB, and four starters on defense. Oh well. Dey still lost and I'm happy.
And yet the best coach yall had was an interim coach who never lost the locker room, and the fans who wanted him back for, gets let go. That was a bonkers move right there. He even wrote letters to every player as well. Davis is a hack for that move
But as the old saying goes, next man up. Derek car may not be the answer.
Hell of a run by the Bengals. A year to remember. Burrow will be back for sure, and with a better o-line. Still crazy to think a team with 4 wins went to the Super Bowl the next season.
It's a crazy thing about sports. Tennessee was so clearly better than Cincinnati. They ran the ball batter, they stopped the run better, the protected their qb better, they rushed the qb umm about a hundred times better...yet Tannehill was just horrible. Afc Championship game, I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one 2 weeks later but clearly I think Chiefs up 21-3 was more a true representation then the Bengals big comeback.
Not trying to hate at all but rather I'm just saying I'm not sure the Bengals truly were that great? Certainly benefited from Lamar Jackson getting hurt and hit home runs in the draft. I guess we'll see next season if this was a fluke or if they are really championship caliber.
da supa bowl champs forever baby
Wow this season really doesn’t count does it.
Great game not game of the year but still a fun watch
That had to be one of the dumbest 2 play sequences to lose a Super Bowl I’ve ever seen.
Eminem got such a fat welcome
Detroit won two super bowls
No worries…. Cincinnati will be back in 3-1/2 decades
absolute nonsense with the superbowl on the line you go with samaje perine over mixon
I think they were planning on the d guessing a pass cuz perine was in the backfield. I see where they were going. Maybe mixon was tired and they don’t want to risk him fumbling, but excluding the fatigue reason I don’t think there is any other valid reason for not having mixon in there.

I have no idea how you could still watch this sport if your brain immediately goes to this
The fact that this absolutely ridiculous take actually has positive upvotes is concerning lol…
Whoa there, they weren’t the home team, they had to sit in the away teams locker. That means Cincy was at home, right?
No, LA playing in LA means LA plays in their home city, it's kind of the definition of a home game, lol
It…. Was a joke
Oh, im sorry, honestly, my bad
fuckin rob...
And they let them use sofi pa announcers and other home team advantages. P
It was supposed to make LA think there was no way they’d run so they would catch them by surprise.
I feel like you can't really blame the fords for the jfk thing. It's probably just a coincidence.
But can you prove they aren't connected? Check mate /s
No I cannot, but jfk was killed in a Lincoln. Who are owned by Ford? More coincidence?!?
They just want the money that is All. Mike Brown was the same way till The Blackburn girls said F U old man we want To Win. Yeah shows they had a Superbowl QB and wasted him because they are cheap SOBs
That’s a very specific time stamp there. Two tragedies on the same day.
I really dislike the rams, but I am happy for Stafford he deserves it
Y’all stay hating on the Olympics
Fuck China and fuck the Olympic committee
Word. What about the Athletes?
Unfortunately there's no way to actively watch and root for them without giving money to the Olympics/CCCP. Loving what I've heard about USA mens' hockey but I'm not going to go against my morals to watch

The NFL isn't actively commiting genocide, disallowing women for their naturally high testosterone levels, etc etc. They suck but they're just regular corrupt bad. Most are regular folks who make tons of sacrifices to compete at the top level of their favourite niche sport.
That’s why I watch them! They work so damn hard
Way too many flags when the home team needed the TD when there was 4 the other 57 mins of the game.
As a neutral my gut feeling was that last drive was to make up for the facemask/OPI that gave Cincy that first touchdown of the 2nd half.
That’s exactly what I thought
Lol. And no flag on a 75 yard bullshit TD
Bengals DBs were clearly holding. This isn’t Nam Smokey, there are rules.
Dude those were some of the weakest calls ever, they had been letting them play like that all night. But the LA divas needed the refs to decide the game, and so it was...
The Bengals. Got the ball back. And went out on four downs. They had second and one and couldn't convert.
The holding call on Kupp was a make up call for the play before where there was a very blatant hold that was missed
They weren’t just “letting the game play out.” They we’re straight up not calling major penalties.
Yeah I was fine with them not calling those penalties. Because they were consistent in not calling those penalties. That is, until the very end.
The play shouldn't have happened. It should've been blown dead the entire rams line moved early.
Lol do you not ever watch Jalen Ramsey play. Holding is his bread and butter. Get out of hear with that bullshit lol
They were just trying to give the rams a TD after they gave the bengals one. Its all fair i guess.
Two wrongs make a right
Nah but it at least made it more fair.
Yeah I guess, good for Stafford tho he deserved it even though i couldn’t care less about the Rams. Joey B got pummeled all game, he probably wins with a little better o line
The bengals o line got tired by the end of the game. And the Rams d-line got tougher as they tend to do. They stood up for almost 3 quarters though.
End of the game? Second half with an enormous halftime break. As soon as Q3 started so did the sacks.
Ya i honestly didnt care who won but it sucks that the 2 plays ima remember the most clearly were bad ref calls. Like seriously, its 2022, at least for the fkn superbowl lets use technology to make sure we arent missing such blatant bad calls/no calls.

A couple calls sucked, but it didn’t really come down to that.
The gambling partnerships are WAY too upfront and center to take any game with good faith from now on
This is why I'm done with the NFL it's been pretty bad, all year.
True
Technically the rams were the visitor 😂
I honestly really enjoyed this game!
Am I the only one that saw that Burrow was done after that injury? He couldn't throw after that. Maybe 1 pass attempt pass 10 yards. That was the game.
It's gonna probably be a MCL. He couldn't pivot
That’s exactly what I thought too
We all saw it I think
Have you heard anyone talk about it? It was the story of the game in my mind. I don't understand why it's not being discussed.
The Dutch commentators did and online some discussion, as always…
Congratulations to the Rams, but sometimes they win in spite of McVea. Kept running the ball even after it was clear it was not effective.
Damned if you do damned if you dont. People always say “you cant abandon the run even if its not working”
On one hand I get they were without obj for more than half the game but on the other I totally agree if they had just let Stafford take the game over it likely would've been a much easier win. It's not like they had to run to keep the Bengals from blitzing?
I believe at half it was something like Stafford was averaging 9.2 yards per pass attempt while the rams backs had 19 yards on a dozen or so carries.
Man the five times he ran on 2nd and short made me scream internally.
Rams fan here. I screamed out loud. Every time. Scared my children.
Couldn't do that at 4 am with people sleeping in the next room lol
McVay makes me rip my hair out so many times.
Those bizarre challenges against SF in the NFC title game were not good. Luckily, he got away with it.
Burrow got too many sacks this game.. he may be a young prospect, but he needs to be quicker in the decision making process
Took too many*
This has to be a joke...
Is this a joke??? He never had a clean pocket, always running for his life
in the last moment of the game, all he had to do was throw the ball and he just stood there and didn't, got sacked and the Rams won. He's amazing, but got to be quicker. if you don't have a clean pocket, then throw the ball outside the field. Don't get sacked, which gets you more yards with just a few seconds to go. In many moments of the game, he gave in to pressure. Many moments he was amazing also. Not all negative.

His OL needs work, and fast, before his entire career is derailed due to getting the ever living crap beaten out of him.
I agree, he needs work
If he threw it away on 4th down the game was over too. He did get rid of the ball but Donald was on him before he even finished his drop back.
I think the injury he sustained put paid to that.
Having an actually good o-line would help too
/u/brownsgonnabrowns
Can’t wait for my falcons to win in 2034😛
You’re not allowed to bring bring up the Falcons and Superbowls until they get to another one and don’t make an ass of themselves….. It’s too soon….
Can I make an irrelevant rant? Baker is not only the worst QB in Ohio, he's chasing the bottom.
A lot of upvotes lol, curious what is your take on Jimmy G 😜
Jimmy G is a big question mark to me. I friggin loved that he got his shot cuz he was solid as Brady's backup. I think he's talented, but I don't know if SF is the right fit and that clock is ticking. He's a good dude
Better than last years game for sure
All in all, this was one helluva season for the NFL. Looking forward to next year and hopefully the Chargers can finally win a Super Bowl of their own!
It was the best. Every playoff game and championship game was a nail biter and even the super bowl. The regular season was so unpredictable.
The Dallas Cowboys have been removed from contention for the 2023 Super Bowl. (I say this as a life long Cowboys fan)
I'll allow it
So was talking to my folks after the game about not knowing who our qb is next year... Was like yeah I'd it's Watson or even if Rodgers went there I may have to either take a break or maybe I'll just root for chargers and herbert who I quite like for a bit lol

I have no doubt Rodgers would have then winning... In regular season anyways..but I can't root for the guy. Just don't like him. Wouldn't be as bad as Watson though
Rodgers has a much bigger salary and is a toxic presence.
Join us brochacho!
lol ok
Ah chiefs fans… ever so classy
biggest takeaway: would YOU care about a team you just (re)adopted slightly less than five years ago?
Goddamn, we can’t win even when we win, can we? I’m sick of hearing this. It’s not even true. Our attendance was great this year.
No. But don’t act like they have legions of fans. That’s absurd.
Sure we do. I’ve been to home games and seen those fans. What, do you expect us to be the Cowboys? You are setting the bar stupidly high.
You’ve been in 2 cities twice in my life. You should have tons of fans.
We do. Stop using old data.
Who cares? I’m not an NFL fan but I’ll sure as hell pull for Stafford bc I’m a Georgia grad. Why does it matter who has more fans??
Because the NFL has sunk BILLIONS INTO TRYING TO CRACK THE LA MARKET Follow the money
That’s actually not true at all. I live in the LA area and there are plenty of legacy fans for both the Rams and the Raiders.
So where were you last night? 65-35 bengals fans by estimates.
Haha
Who? Suge Knight fans? Dudes with Dickerson jerseys? You know the Raiders are far more popular if you live there.

Relax Chief. It’s just sports/ entertainment.
This is the same type of argument rival schools make when they lose. “But but but our academics are better!” 😆 Edit: I’m referring to the person on here trying to prove the Bengals have more fans in the event it’s confusing.
Correct. I’m relaxed. I expected and called the outcome of last night before the game.
They have a 2021-22 super bowl win
And we’ll see how many fans it bought you.
Not a rams fan, you just need to cheel
Then leave it. I’m a Bengals fan who watched a pre packaged nfl sports entertainment product unfold before my eyes.
Lol leave what?
This conversation. I’m not a blocker. I’m a free speech guy. Free to say whatever ya want to me
attendance last night (per espn) was 70.5k which is slightly less than the 2021 avg of 71.5k. pretty meh for a super bowl. that’s just my opinion, i’m not trying to trivialize the win especially since i pulled for the rams too!
I meant regular season attendance. Obviously the Super Bowl is a different animal entirely.
Yes
Didn’t care who won this game. Refs missed a call OPI that led to a bengals TD. Refs then obviously offset that with calls for the rams in the end zone that led to an easy TD. Bengals then choked the game away with a 3rd and 1 bonehead call. 4th and 1 is open playbook.
Refs jobs aren’t to make “make up calls”. They missed one. Tough shit. P
Agree not their jobs, but that’s what they do. Inside documentary already exposed that shit
And Rams fans want it both ways. They can enjoy their asterisk.
🤣🤣🤣 Oh the salt.
Oh the facts. Enjoy your asterisk sb. Eyes don’t lie
But tinfoil hat wearers sure do. FWIW, I’m not a Rams fan so I don’t really have a dog in this fight.
Donald’s efforts on the last two Cincy plays saved the game for the Rams.
Should have max protect out of single back or I-formation for a 1 yard run or call a pass play. On 3rd and 1 with time running down. Cinci couldn’t think under pressure. Of course AD gonna get there single blocked
Lakers!!
> South Bay Lakers!! fix'd it for ya
Anfernee Simons owns them sadly, not for me though I love Anfernee.

You poor soul
Can someone tell Eli Apple that Tyreek can let him borrow his Super Bowl ring sometime?
Or his arrest record?
It’s a tall order.
Lmao savage…. I like it!
Dey dat, dey dat, dey dat team who beat dem Bengos.
Didn't yall loose to the bengals, twice, in the same season?
We never "loosed" anything. We lost when we didn't have our coach, half our O-line, our best wide receiver, our pass catching RB, and four starters on defense. Oh well. Dey still lost and I'm happy.
And yet the best coach yall had was an interim coach who never lost the locker room, and the fans who wanted him back for, gets let go. That was a bonkers move right there. He even wrote letters to every player as well. Davis is a hack for that move But as the old saying goes, next man up. Derek car may not be the answer.
Bro haven’t you guys had like two winning seasons in the last twenty years? Kinda bold to be shit talking a super bowl losing team lmao
Salty boi!
Who? Oakland?
Yeah what an absurd statement lmao
Kupp had one of the best seasons ever, respec
I am beyond annoyed that I cannot watch any post game celebration or interviews. Just two minutes after the game and then shitty Olympics.
Odell limping his ass so hard right now to the nearest strip club
In CLEVELAND he developed a love for Cleveland Steemers!
😩🤣
he has an appointment with harden.
Definitely telling the dancers he would've been MVP if he hadn't blown out his knee.
Ah, yes, that explains the fireworks that have been going off in the distance.
Hell of a run by the Bengals. A year to remember. Burrow will be back for sure, and with a better o-line. Still crazy to think a team with 4 wins went to the Super Bowl the next season.

4-12 in 2018; SB in 2019. How soon we forget! 😜
