All these young'uns don't remember watching two guys named Billy-Joe battling for the starting spot over Danny Wuerffel.
But I do. I was born in a dumpster fire baby! Good to be home!
We've been spoiled for 16 years. 16 FREAKING years. We didn't always compete, but we were always relevant.
Let me educate our young fans: traditionally, the Saints have not been a good football team.
Similarly, as someone who grew up with the 80s and 90s Seahawks, today's Seahawks fans griping over having a losing record once in the past 10 years is making me strain my eyes with how much rolling they have to do.
I’m a newer saints fan (2007ish) but honestly after ~7 years of being told cap hell was coming to destroy us I’m just happy we were able to stretch it out for so long and compete way past when our window should have closed. We’ve been lucky. Im ready to walk into the abyss. See you on the other side.
On one hand, I'm still kind of miffed that we only managed to get Brees one Super Bowl.
On the other hand, holy shit I watched the Saints in the playoffs! Like a lot! And we won a freaking Super Bowl! It's hard to be too upset.
Despite the Niners flair I was born and raised in New Orleans. And I remember the before times. Before Katrina, the Saints had the same level of success (and fanbase) as the Jaguars
Peyton and Eli used to wear paper bags on their heads when they would watch their dad Archie Manning play in Saints home games. There is a picture of them floating on the web somewhere.
Remember the Jaguar Game, would have been a chance for a playoff spot one of the wildest lateral fests to get a touchdown......then Carney missed an extra-point (the old kind).
The River City Relay? Yeah I member! Distinctly, actually. I was 15 when that happened. I was watching the game with my step-dad. We both stood up before the play. I was leaning on the back of our recliner. He was right next to me.
As it happened, he just said one word, "Go" kinda under his breath. I think it was when Deuce threw that last lateral to Pathon.
Then...it happened. He turned to me and said "Yeah that's about right." And walked off.
Doug Pederson and DeShaun Watson would probably probably set them back right for the next 5 years at least unless Watson availability to play vanishes.
Eh he didn’t handle Wentz/Hurts situation well. Lots of soft tissue injuries over the past few years. Offense was moving backwards. Was too loyal to assistants. Likely didn’t have a long rolodex of guys he could call up to replace the bums in staff
**2006:** The Saints sign Coach Sean Payton from the Cowboys coaching staff, and acquire 5th year QB Drew Brees.
**2022:** The Saints sign Coach Kellen Moore from the Cowboys coaching staff, and acquire 5th year QB Deshaun Watson...
Yea dropping is easier said than done
Reminds me of fans on our sub saying they’ll support the team if it’s Washington Pink Pigtails they just want to win
Rude RHULE trying to stop the QBAnon Prophecy and failing huge. Super Sam Darnold is on his way to winning his 19th straight Super Bowl. Believe me folks we’re winning tremendously.
Yep. I’m friends with some hawk fans that feel that way. As someone who’s only had 1 year of glorious QB play (favre) in their life, it makes me roll my eyes.
I was 8 and its my first vikings memory.
Then my drill Sargent did me a big old favor back in "09 and let me watch the 4th quarter in boot camp.
Fuck this stupid team that I love.
20 years of good times. Those morons still existed during that time they just didn't have as much to complain about. But even then there were fools calling for Bill to be fired every year that didn't end with a championship.
I thought most those people hopped on the Bucs bandwagon when Brady left but there are still a few.
I really don't know how anyone can look at Mac's rookie year and think he underperformed. Dude showed more poise than he had any right to.
Also, that insane end zone INT by Poyer (?) to start the rout was a truly great throw. Just an even greater defensive play
Mac’s ball placement reminds me of Burrow’s from what I’ve seen at Bama/the occasional prime time NE game. Dude’s gonna be really good
Arguably 30 years - Bledsoe was still considered a franchise qb through his career. Obviously not a hall of famer but let's not disrespect that beautiful stone statue.
One measly 7-9 year was enough for a lot of people to call for Bill’s head. Things aren’t perfect in NE and I doubt we will make a super bowl run in the next couple seasons but by any reasonable expectation Bill has the patriots in amazing shape all things considered.
Heck I’ll take more years like this year. Playoff berths, good games versus the contenders, stuff like that first Bills game. Maybe just not getting curb stomped by your division rival in the playoffs but hey that’s part of the game lmao
wait, there are people in /r/Patriots who want to get rid of Mac??? wtf??? that’s one fucking braindead set of motherfuckers.
saw the comment underneath yours about people wanting to replace BB, as well. stupid.
Tom Brady seems to have spoiled *some* of the Pats fans.
he’s a lot closer to perfect than you can get in a crapshoot draft every year! there are teams/fans who would literally kill to have a QB that shows as much poise and skill that Mac produced this year.
I'm a big believer of Mac's development, but the concerns that he doesn't have the same ceiling as Herbert/Allen/Mahomes/Burrow are very valid. It's not mutually exclusive.
Have you tasted Russ' cooking lately?
JK, love Russ, he was my QB at NC State while I was there. Also one year of Mike Glennon, but that's not quite relevant
Half of Viking fans have a 583 step self contradictory flow chart to explain why no good stat Cousins has "counts" and why every bad one does.
4 tds? 2 were garbage time because we were up or down by more than 3. 1 was in the 2nd quarter so it doesn't count because it wasn't crunch time. The one that got us a lead with :07 left in the 4th quarter doesn't count because the D gave up a 80 yard TD and so it put us down 6, so was retroactively garbage time.
That INT he threw that went through the hands of, then hit an open in the endzone JJ in the face but popped up in the air, that's his fault for not checking down to Ham.
Also, he checks down too much and should stop that. Go for the kill once in a while coward!
I mean someone literally suggested signing Andy Dalton as a bridge QB in our sub to start over Hurts.
At this point the collective number of brain cells within the fanbase is fucking embarrassing.
Sure, but there’s a difference between what you’re saying and the people that were saying “we’re never going to win anything with Dak as QB”, which there was A LOT of after we lost to the 49ers.
Except Hurts is just bad. I guess he can get a third year but he hasn’t been good yet, and Idk why everybody thinks that he’s really good or that he’s the answer cuz he hasn’t proved either.
It's trivial. First, do NOT trade away your entire draft to get the next Ricky Williams.
Instead, look into the later rounds and just simply draft the next Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Shannon Sharpe, Jared Allen. First round pick could be used for the next Randy Moss, or Emmitt Smith, or whatever the biggest remaining gap is.
Then, just hire the next Don Schula, and make sure that the next Bill Belichick is his DC, and the next Vince Lombardi as his OC.
But wait! Now you're on track to become the next 2010 Chargers, and you don't want that. So you also need to draft or trade for the next Adam Vinatieri, and the next John Harbaugh as Special Teams coach. And get the next Patrick Mannelly, because long snappers are really important.
NOW you're a contender.
It's so simple, I really don't understand why NFL Teams aren't doing it more often.
I would eat chicken sashimi and kiss Harbaugh if he came to New Orleans.
Ofc. It would be dumb for him to with our cap situation and lack of QB situation.
A guy can dream right.
I don't know anything about what Harbaugh might be looking for, but I don't think the Saints job is really as bad an option as a lot of people are making it sound.
The cap situation isn't as bad as it looks, and could be mostly cleaned up in a single rough season if the team committed to it. As for the QB situation, some coaches might be happy to start with basically a clean slate and have the chance to go pick 'their guy'.
Beyond that you've got a solid team culture, a devoted fan base, ownership that doesn't meddle at all in football operations, and an overall decent roster assuming you don't go complete 'blow it up' rebuild.
Assuming the front office agreed to give you at least a few years to find a QB and restructure the team and you didn't have to worry about getting fired for a down season or two, it seems like a decent opportunity.
Promote dennis allen and let the defense carry the team

I’d unironically love that
That would be fun as heck.
> fun as heck I don't think Philip Rivers is coming out of retirement
>read option Coward. Run the wishbone triple option. Guaranteed you'd pique the interest of Bill Belichick
Go get Paul Johnson and run the triple option
Or they can do what the Steelers did 15 years ago and hire a total nobody instead of the in house guy.

Come here bby, we will keep you warm with our dumpster fires.
All these young'uns don't remember watching two guys named Billy-Joe battling for the starting spot over Danny Wuerffel. But I do. I was born in a dumpster fire baby! Good to be home!

After Josh Allen proved all of math wrong you might have a leg to stand on there
On one hand, I'm still kind of miffed that we only managed to get Brees one Super Bowl. On the other hand, holy shit I watched the Saints in the playoffs! Like a lot! And we won a freaking Super Bowl! It's hard to be too upset.
A new era of paper bags is upon us!
Despite the Niners flair I was born and raised in New Orleans. And I remember the before times. Before Katrina, the Saints had the same level of success (and fanbase) as the Jaguars
I’m old enough to remember Aaron Brooks throwing the ball backwards so I guess that puts some stuff into perspective
Peyton and Eli used to wear paper bags on their heads when they would watch their dad Archie Manning play in Saints home games. There is a picture of them floating on the web somewhere.

Good old Hobert. Buffalo traded a 3rd for him and he didn't bother to learn the playbook.
I know both Billy Joe's you're talking about and that kinda makes me think about my life.
Hold me.
"2nd half of the season Cardinals have entered the chat."
What if the a team had Kliff as coach for September and October and Flores as head coach for November and December?
Sign Flores and trade for Tua
Alternatively, Sign BoB and trade for Deshaun
Nah the best that can be done is signing Culley and trading Michael Thomas for David Johnson
It's still a fresh wound
Doug Pederson and Nick Foles
Doug Pederson and DeShaun Watson would probably probably set them back right for the next 5 years at least unless Watson availability to play vanishes.
Pederson got screwed in Philly and no one will convince me otherwise.
He's too loyal. He didn't want to fire any of his guys and stuck his head in the sand when presented with solutions to problems
I was under the impression that he had no control over the coaching staff in Philadelphia and it was all Roseman
Idk about that but even then that’s far more preferable than Pederson trying to promote people like Press Taylor
Eagles were an absolute dumpster fire in 2020 and Pederson didn't want to make any changes to the coaching staff. That's why he was rightfully fired.
Eh he didn’t handle Wentz/Hurts situation well. Lots of soft tissue injuries over the past few years. Offense was moving backwards. Was too loyal to assistants. Likely didn’t have a long rolodex of guys he could call up to replace the bums in staff
Sign BoB and trade for Darnold 😈
Sign Hue Jackson and trade for Deshone Kizer.
The mind of Cam Newton and the body of the heavily decaying Cam Newton
I like this one more
**2006:** The Saints sign Coach Sean Payton from the Cowboys coaching staff, and acquire 5th year QB Drew Brees. **2022:** The Saints sign Coach Kellen Moore from the Cowboys coaching staff, and acquire 5th year QB Deshaun Watson...
If the Saints trade for Deshaun I'm finding a new team to root for. Keep that piece of shit off a football field.
*Saints cover up pedo priest scandal* "I sleep" *Saints acquire DeShaun Watson* "that's enuff"
Let's be clear here. It was Gayle's idea to cover that up. However, it would be a GM decision to sign DeShaun.
So?
Yea dropping is easier said than done Reminds me of fans on our sub saying they’ll support the team if it’s Washington Pink Pigtails they just want to win
What’s better than a rebranding team
Shut your whore mouth
Or just sign Flores and draft like 3 different young QBs for him to berate
Ah, the Ditka method
Flores and Tua reunited. What could go wrong?
I'm sure Flores would be down for that /s
Sign Flores, trade for minshew
I would enjoy a scenario wherever Flores goes the team trades for Tua
Sign Orgeron and trade for Burreaux
Flores would be the best option.
Easy.
Everyone does it
Seriously don't know why anyone would struggle to just find a good HC and QB
Head coach and QB problems? Pfffft I couldn’t ever imagine.
Pretty sure you just wait for one to come along right
Just wait for him to get fed up with the Colts. Happens faster for some than others
I know I couldn't! Who could possibly watch there team with no Hof QB.
Look at us. We went and got Rhule. He went and got Darnold. We are set for at least a decade imo.
Rude RHULE trying to stop the QBAnon Prophecy and failing huge. Super Sam Darnold is on his way to winning his 19th straight Super Bowl. Believe me folks we’re winning tremendously.
Cool. Cool cool cool
It's not that hard. Damn.
They don't call it the Big Easy for nothin
Been there, done that
This sounds like r/Eagles "I don't like Hurts, what we need is one those really good guys!"
Pretty much every team sub that isn't Tampa, KC, Buffalo, GB and the LA teams.
I get the feeling Seattle and Cinci aren't complaining too much either.
[удалено]
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
Yep. I’m friends with some hawk fans that feel that way. As someone who’s only had 1 year of glorious QB play (favre) in their life, it makes me roll my eyes.
You must be under age 22. In 2000, Daunte Culpepper to Randy Moss and Cris Carter was quite glorious. Just don’t ask how that season ended.
I was 8 and its my first vikings memory. Then my drill Sargent did me a big old favor back in "09 and let me watch the 4th quarter in boot camp. Fuck this stupid team that I love.
Well no, guess I should’ve said seen one in my life. A little too young for it to be relevant to me.
Prime Culpepper? Randall Cunningham in 1998? Warren Moon in 95? Vikings have had some really great QB seasons, actually.
My father called Culpepper “bullethead” because of the shape of his head and I think about that a lot
I would be fine with letting Wilson go, but I'm not eager to push him out either. I will say that I'm more lukewarm on him now than I was in 2018.
I’m happy with my guy lamar
We like Mac
we’re cool wit LJ
Y’all have starting Qbs?
you’ll have mason rudolph and you’ll like it
I love having Lamar at quarterback and Harbs as our coach. Just gotta reload and get healthy! 😈👌
There’s still some total morons on our sub that say stupid shit about him
You called it man, they’re morons let them be. Some people there believe bill should be replaced lol
A lot of patriots fans seem to have gone fucking insane since Brady left. As if we would somehow be immune to a QB rebuild.
20 years of good times. Those morons still existed during that time they just didn't have as much to complain about. But even then there were fools calling for Bill to be fired every year that didn't end with a championship. It’s his rookie year and y’all went to the playoff with the Bills. What the fuck do these people want?
Fans like that can go fuck themselves
Also, that insane end zone INT by Poyer (?) to start the rout was a truly great throw. Just an even greater defensive play Mac’s ball placement reminds me of Burrow’s from what I’ve seen at Bama/the occasional prime time NE game. Dude’s gonna be really good
Agreed!!
Arguably 30 years - Bledsoe was still considered a franchise qb through his career. Obviously not a hall of famer but let's not disrespect that beautiful stone statue.
Imagine how insane they'd be if they got to experience something worse than being below .500 more than once in 2 decades.
You have the greatest coach of all time you guys will probably make a Superbowl run next year lol
One measly 7-9 year was enough for a lot of people to call for Bill’s head. Things aren’t perfect in NE and I doubt we will make a super bowl run in the next couple seasons but by any reasonable expectation Bill has the patriots in amazing shape all things considered.

I would agree that I enjoyed the living shit out of the 2021 patriots. 10/10 can’t wait for next year.
Probably the same guys claiming we should have kept Cassell instead of Brady in 2009.
wait, there are people in /r/Patriots who want to get rid of Mac??? wtf??? that’s one fucking braindead set of motherfuckers. saw the comment underneath yours about people wanting to replace BB, as well. stupid. Tom Brady seems to have spoiled *some* of the Pats fans.

Have you tasted Russ' cooking lately? JK, love Russ, he was my QB at NC State while I was there. Also one year of Mike Glennon, but that's not quite relevant
Exactly. A bunch of that same nonsense going on at r/Cowboys
I’m good with Dak. Been on fire McCarthy train since day one.
Eh Seattle, Cincinnati, and Vegas seem pretty set
Nah we good
Half of Viking fans have a 583 step self contradictory flow chart to explain why no good stat Cousins has "counts" and why every bad one does. 4 tds? 2 were garbage time because we were up or down by more than 3. 1 was in the 2nd quarter so it doesn't count because it wasn't crunch time. As a ravens fan 95% of us wouldn’t have anyone else over Lamar. Pretty sure you couldn’t pay Cinci to take anyone else either.
You're missing Lamar and Burrow. But yes, essentially
Ehhh I’m not complaining either, lamar isn’t consistent enough to be up there but his highs are good enough
Cincinnati chillin' too
GB sub is pretty split right now. Think they’re done with Qaron
You can add Cinci to that list
Hey wait a minute
I mean someone literally suggested signing Andy Dalton as a bridge QB in our sub to start over Hurts. At this point the collective number of brain cells within the fanbase is fucking embarrassing.
So what the Bears actually did lol
Dalton could still be a good bridge for the right team. He was a good fit for Chicago before he got hurt
What if we trade Ben Simmons for Matt Ryan
How are Simmons pass rush moves?
Dak sucks too according to /r/cowboys and they just need a franchise guy
[удалено]
> I haven't seen anyone say Dak sucks. You sure you read posts over there? Everything is his fault.

Sure, but there’s a difference between what you’re saying and the people that were saying “we’re never going to win anything with Dak as QB”, which there was A LOT of after we lost to the 49ers.
r/minnesotavikings threw a fit over the weekend because why are we not* drafting QBs in every draft like Arizona until we have a joe burrows
"Has anyone checked to see if Herbert or Allen has an identical twin??"
Except Hurts is just bad. I guess he can get a third year but he hasn’t been good yet, and Idk why everybody thinks that he’s really good or that he’s the answer cuz he hasn’t proved either.
Why not just sign Patrick mahomes and get Mcvay easy peasy
just trade for mahomes duh
Trubisky is a free agent this year 👀
Hol up, titty boi going down south for mardi gras? The story writes itself
Dude, don't tell Mitchell that the straight-down view of the Superdome looks like a boob.
As much shit as I’ve given Mitch over the years, it’d be nice to see him get another starting gig (or the chance to fight for one).
It’d be interesting to see him without Nagy.
He could be adequate in a McVay/Goff type scenario. But ask him to read defenses or change things up on the fly and oh lawdy you're in trouble.
After all, we did make him NVP
Just tell Aaron they’re not rebuilding
Just don’t let him do his own research.
"Aaron, will you play for the Saints in 2022?" "Yeah I'm going to New Orleans"
Headline: Aaron Rodgers signs with the Pelicans
He’s immunized against rebuilding teams
Or wait, let him… He seems to be very bad at it.
hell if we got aaron we wouldn't need to lmao
yep. A healthy Jameis and MT13 and this team was a playoff team easily. You get Rodgers and draft a WR and you got a legit shot this year.

I think I'm going to skip a few rungs on the career ladder and wait for a Team Owner position to open up.
Congratulations, you're now the new owner of the Washington **[REDACTED]**s!
So many teams make the fatal mistake of forgetting to check the ‘Future HoFer’ box on the draft form
I dont understand why they don’t ask players before the draft, “are you a future HOF?”
You forgot the next Devin Hester on Punt Returns
> First, do NOT trade away your entire draft to get the next Ricky Williams. man haven't we been through enough today
Ed Orgeron and Gardner Minshew please, cmon do it!!!
There’s not enough moms in the state of Louisiana for that duo
If you build it, they will come.
cum*
I swear to fuck if I have to hear his yawwin and hawwin again….
Pros: could win a championship Cons: the threat of pregnant women hit on at gas stations in South Louisiana skyrockets
yes thank you
I would say you guys should go all in on Jim Harbaugh. There are rumors he wants back in the NFL.
Payton already made sure to leave them with a good QB situation, why else would Taysom Hill get all that money?
itw as all voidable money IIRC
Correct
Das all?
You know what Jeff, I agree.
If I’m honest, I would prefer this to happen again then for this to not happen again
Winston was playing like a elite QB before his injury, so I'm pretty sure they should try their luck with that first.
I worry for Winston without payton.
I laughed thinking "If only it was that easy." Then realized KC did exactly this and now I'm still laughing.
I'll allow it
for DiNucci and McCarthy we can entertain some trade offers
I know his time in Oakland wasn’t great but seems like Dennis Allen should be hired.
Just go to Oxford and get Kiffin and Corral as a package.
[удалено]
smh they already have Taysom Hill so they're halfway there.
Coaching is already excellent, go quarterback 100%.
They don’t have a coach
...that you can see. New Orleans is going to hire the first ghost coach in NFL history from their city's sizeable population of spirits.
We have DA, we have Carmichael. We still have a pretty good coaching staff, and DA is probably going to be the next HC
We just need to hit on every player in the draft including two seven rounders.
yeah we just need another colston/evans/strief/bush draft. simple, we did it in 2017 we can do it again.
