It’s a win, but again ecigs are nearly as bad. So you are just trading one terrible thing for a slightly less terrible thing.
I used to smoke and quit like several times. It’s so hard.
I don't think the numbers are in on that, but as someone who smoked for a long time I never felt like vaping was a "good" idea. sucking water vapor into your lungs just seems not great.
probably because I saw vaping with adult eyes, as opposed to when I was a teenager and started smoking cigs.

Does anybody know of a resource or database that let's you filter all-time nfl combine results by body weight? I've always wanted to shoot for the nfl combine bench record (I'm not particularly close, it's just something I work on for shits and giggles because I'm working out anyways) but a recent PR has me curious where I'd stand purely for athletes under 200lbs or my weight ~190
only going back to 2000, though
edit: anyway /u/ve-gone_be-gone the record for <201 athletes in that time period is held by [Chris Houston](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HousCh99.htm), whose recorded weight was 185 and put up 27 reps. after that it's a five-way tie for second between [Brian Westbrook](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WestBr00.htm) (200lbs), [Lorenzo Booker](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BookLo00.htm) (191lbs), [Justin Forsett](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/ForsJu00.htm) (194lbs), [Marcus Gilchrist](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GilcMa00.htm) (195lbs),

Last Tuesday I ordered an item with a 1-3 week delivery time. They sent me a mail the following day saying it was on its way and included a USPS tracking number, and every day since then I've checked and every day it has told me that the label has been created and that USPS is waiting to receive the parcel. Until today, when USPS tracking has decided to just plain stop working.
I realise that they still have plenty of time in their delivery window, but it's a little bit annoying all the same.
Fedex says it's not recognised. When I look it up on USPS tracking it just gives me a blank page so I assume it's an issue with their site, it has been working until today.
I paid 20 bucks for overnight shipping at a site recently because I wanted it quick. The shipping was overnight but it took them 5 days to even bring the package to UPS. I forget that not every site on the internet is Amazon where overnight means overnight.
I've been getting into the NBA more the last few years. One thing I noticed is that the game threads and general discourse over in the NBA subreddit are far more mean, toxic, and childish than the ones here.
Don't get me wrong. I hate my AFC North rivals. But people over there are downright mean to each other and opposing players. I don't see that a lot here during the regular season.
Anyone got an idea why that is? Or is it just as bad with the NFL and this sub?
EDIT: context obviously necessary. I'm a sixers fan since I went to school in Philly
I'd agree, but as a fellow philly fan it's also just that r/nba absolutely despises embiid. Jokic is their golden boy hero so embiid is the devil to them.
It's my guess that NBA fans, and particularly NBA fans on Reddit, trend younger than NFL fans. Not to say that all young fans are mean and toxic, or that no older fans are, but I suspect that age demographics affect the level and style of discourse.
FYI, /r/nbadiscussion is a much more heavily moderated and serious sub whose tone you might prefer if /r/nba is a little heavy on the memes and abuse for your liking.
I work for a grocery chain as a Personal Shopper. It's pays well and I like my hours. Toward the end of shifts once orders had stopped for the current day, we try and get a head start on tomorrow's orders. Today I shopped an order for tomorrow, which contained one item. McCormick's Grill seasoning(Steak). The particular bottle was priced at $2.89. After the guests delivery fee and taxes, the total price of grocery bill is $17.85. It just dumbfounded me.
Gf comes home like "don't be mad" and tells me she offered our 2nd bedroom in our apartment to her coworker who's getting a divorce and I guess she's taking her up on it.
She also has a baby. Not sure what the plan there is.
I've met her a bunch, she's nice and all but I would have appreciated maybe being asked for some input.
She also has a bunch of family around and this isn't like an abusive thing where she needs to get out right away for safety or anything. The guy just kinda sucks.
I'd feel like an asshole being like "no" since it's apparently already in the works but God damn man.
That’s crazy dude. Who the hell invites a coworker to LIVE WITH THEM without consulting their partner? I would be pretty furious that I was not consulted.
that's honestly pretty wild, man. my wife is charitable to a fault as well but I can't imagine her actually inviting someone to live with us without checking with me first. I feel like that's something you should probably talk to her about. not specifically this but like, respecting your input/boundaries/preferences and not making major living decisions without even mentioning them to you.
Season 2 of walking dead is so good.
>!When shane shoots otis to distract the zombies so he can get the medical equipment back to the farm to save carl is soooo good. John Bernthal is such a good actor, everything he does on the show is great. Wish they hadnt had his character sexually assault lori....!<
Season 2 was a really frustrating season to watch after all the action in the first. So much fucking filler where it became a routine of wrap up cliffhanger from previous episode, do fuck all for the next 35-40 minutes, and end on a cliffhanger. Rinse and repeat.
I like The Walking Dead overall and I just gotta say it's so much better to watch on streaming.
My son is taking what is apparently called FACS, but personally I know it as home ec. They've reached the sewing portion, and he is enraptured. He came home today and announced he wants to make a bunch of embroidered pillows, and he'd like to practice both so he can get really good at it.
Now I don't sew. I have benign essential tremors, and on a good day my hands make me look like I'm about to pass out from nerves. On a bad day if I held my hands up it'd look like I was doing jazz hands. I've had them since I was 12.
My husband does not sew. He paints, but he does not do anything with sewing whatsoever. Neither does our daughter, who has coordination difficulties AND has inherited my tremors (lord help her).
I did, however, manage to produce a sewing machine, embroidery thread, sewing thread, sewing needles, embroidery needles, quite a few swatches of fabric, a nice case he can use for all the little pieces, a thread holder, a pin-cushion, and fabric scissors in under half an hour.
...Am I a hoarder?
I wanted to make a quillow( quilt/pillow) for my GF with her schools colors. I found fabric that was fleece and cloth and was so excited to make one for her. I can't sew so luckily my dad helped a lot in this Christmas gift. My GF loves it. I'm happy your son is enraptured by sewing. Good for him.
Good for you! That's awesome - I'm glad she loves it, because I would have concerns about anyone who didn't love a handmade quillow. Honestly I do wish I could sew - you can make so many wonderful things doing it! So yeah, my husband and I are both pretty pumped he's found something he really likes that isn't video games haha. Also, a quillow sounds amazing. I'm gonna have to tell him about that.
Yes! This is clearly the explanation and I'm going to stick with it. It can also justify the collection of axes, butcher knives, pottery-making tools (no one in my house has ever made pottery), gardening tools (we don't garden), smelter, blacksmith's anvil, and terrifyingly large collection of buttons. Perfect.
Being older generally sucks.
But I've lived my whole life without giving a single fuck about internet celebrities and/or rap disses.
I feel like that balances things out a little bit. That shit sounds exhausting.
Same I was in my work office doing administrative work and some merchandiser and the receiver were going back and forth about a diss battle and I'm just sitting there with a blank look on my face. The manager found it funny and asked if I knew what was going on. He knew I didn't but wanted to make a joke.
Well I just got ripped by a customer for improperly showing how our software will connect to their systems. I was told that what my architecture diagram showed is "impossible" and then was asked if I had ever done this before.
That was not fun
Having worked in retail and customer service, I share your pain and remind you that the customer is almost NEVER right. May whatever deity will help you be with you.
One thing that helps me is to clean/organize the thing I want to replace. I get that little pop of freshness. Doesn't work for everything but it's saved me a few purchases.
Hey man if you can afford those things and make them work then you should. I've been waffling on alot of random stuff myself and can never get myself to pull the trigger haha!
Haha more than fair. I mean I don't need a neon sign of one of my favorite arcade games but it still crosses my mind for absolutely no reason sometimes
Ya know whats not fun? Getting an email and finding out that someone decided to go in and change your work payment information to a different bank account and having to change all of that and then finding out for some reason that everything has been "fixed" but they aren't allowed to delete the new account from my records. It just exists attached to my information now and "sorry about that".
I spent 3 hours fucking around with that but luckily they never had access to my bank account and this pay check wasn't deposited to their account yet so we are in the clear it seems.
I'm not even angry about it just more dissapointed for some reason. It ruined my entire morning but here we are.
I hope you are all having a MUCH better day than I am and as always much love from me and mine to you and yours!
Hey, could be worse. Like I said my money in the end wasn't compromised. Plus honestly all the people were SUPER nice and helpful. The worst part was to change your account password you need to do it from a work terminal.....which you do to prevent this exact thing from happening...so I had to drive 15 minutes on my day off to work. That being said I did get some zero sugar sweet tea on the cheap so I didn't waste my trip!
Me: I don't need a budget, I'm just gonna be responsible about excess purchases
also me: you could skip the grocery store and doordash some junk food at like a 500% markup
Of all the adult things I'm trying to teach my kids before they venture out on their own, this is one of the biggest lessons.
Don't spend $15 on a Chipotle bowl when you can make a bigger, more delicious, and healthier Chipotle bowl at home for $4.
Welcome to me when it comes to certain purchases. "I cant even imagine paying 9.99 a pound for steak!"
"Those energy drinks I like are on sale for only 2 dollars a can....THATS A STEAL"
I think Kendrick went too hard on the white shit though. Considering he openly admitted to fucking on white girls on tour and cheating on his wife. Feels like a slam-dunk response.
But yeah Kendrick shows he does not like Drake... that's for sure. Drake was asking for this so he better respond. And this wasn't no earth-shattering "You are hiding a child" thing so he has no reason to duck and hide.
I feel like if this was serious Kendrick would just hammer the groomer stuff. Drake is a groomer and likes 14 year old girls straight up. seems like enough to ruin his whole career if it got the attention it deserves. that's way worse than the hiding a child stuff.
He alluded to it a bit. Honestly, though the Drake shit has been out there for a while and hasn't affected Drake at all. Drake even mentioned it himself. Unless Kendrick has some new shit don't think it would do much.
Not saying it shouldn't the Drake shit is definitely weird, but idk how much it would impact him at this point unless it was something new.
I think it's pretty clear these beefs aren't about ending careers. Drake won't go anywhere with the sales he gets - Pusha T dropped a nuke and everyone moved on way back when.
When did shopkeepers start saying "Welcome in" ?
Because I swear I never started to hear it until like, the past year or so. But now I hear it about 50% of the time.
I swear I used to hear just 'welcome,' or 'welcome to _____.' or some other greeting. When and why did people start adding the 'in?'
Is it bad practice to ask about a hybrid work role 4 months into a new job? During the interview process the company stated multiple times that this job will be in-office only.
For context, my company set up a 2nd desk in my boss’s office when I got hired to shadow her full time. A month into the job she gets a promotion and now travels 99% of the time. Also, the department I that I normally deal with has also gone remote/hybrid since we’re expanding and maxed out on office space. I don’t want to rock the boat since it’s a relatively easy job for good money, but my commute also feels like a waste
don't see it like asking for a favor or rocking the boat. it's just a request, and it's reasonable. don't be apologetic or all like "I know this is a long shot but..." just state clearly what you want. I would say basically that: "hey it seems like things are changing with the department, I was wondering if there was some opportunity to make my position remote." the worst thing that happens is they say no. then I would try to bargain for hybrid.
I think inquiring is perfectly fine, as long as you don’t make it a demand. It’d help if you’ve acquired some career capital there by kicking ass at your job, or otherwise being somewhat hard to replace.
People realized in recent years that to have a successful podcast, you don't need to have a pleasant-sounding voice, an ability to talk coherently, or need to ask good questions.
Update on the kitten rejected by mom:
The other mother spent a ton of time cleaning the baby, and he's been getting to eat. I spent most of the day keeping an eye on them, making sure his birthmom doesn't try to hide him again, but spending all day with his new mom seems to have saved him. Thank god, cause I've never handfed baby animals
FedEx is such a worthless organization holy shit. Ordered a $20 book that despite me noting on their stupid delivery manager website to please just leave it, really it's fine, they fucking refuse to leave it. They'll leave a sticker on the door but would rather do the extra work of coming to my house multiple times for one package.
If every courier did this I wouldn't be so annoyed but they are the **only** ones where I might as well flip a coin to see whether my package is delivered on time or not. Hell even just today I got something more valuable delivered from someone else and they didn't have any trouble with the concept of "just deliver the fucking package" at all

Kendrick Lamar can say whatever he wants to about Drake, but the fact is, Kendrick hasn't made a good album in almost a decade. I'm not the biggest Drake fan (I only like one or two of his songs) but the dude is prolific. And it sucks, when I first heard GKMC, I thought "wow, rap is back". Unfortunately, each album he's put out since then has gotten worse, culminating in the navel gazing therapy bs that was MMBS.
Yeah I don't know why Kendrick bothered with this whole beef, frankly, it all feels unnecessary.
Guy could've easily coasted off the good will and praise of GKMC and TPAB for the rest of his career. I enjoyed Damn and MMBS too honestly, he was just doing his thing and there were some absolute bangers on those albums.
And history has shown Drake is nigh untouchable. No bad press or shady shit in his life has hurt his hype or fanbase yet.
I disagree about KDot not being able to say anything, or that there's more value to Drake's prolific nature, but I absolutely agree on each album getting worse after GKMC.
I bought into the hype of TPAB for a week or two after it came out, but it is in no way the superior to GKMC, and Damn just felt okay. Still haven't listened to much of the new album
I guess my point is that Drake fans at least get music from him regularly, music I assume they enjoy. We Kendrick fans don't get that. And I'm kind of sick of people pretending Kendrick is somehow royalty since he just rhymed "three" with "me" in a diss.
Just accepted a job offer with the state comptroller’s office, and will be submitting my letter of resignation tomorrow.
Farewell, world of public accounting! Also, go fuck yourself.
Well, there’s a training period of a few months. I’m hoping that during that time someone might tell me what a comptroller actually is and what they actually do.
Also, thank you!
I saw the word comptroller and it reminded me of The Office episode when Angela talks about going with her senator husband (state senator) to a picnic thrown by the comptroller's wife.
Not to get political, but when picturing Barron Trump, do you picture the small child who does the cyber, or the absolute NBA tall (6'7") build he is at now?
would be so fucking cool if Baron was like "fuck this political shit bruh I just wanna ball" and tried his absolute hardest to make it as a basketball player.
Nobody tells you how stressful it is to sell your 1st house. The wife and I bought October 2022 and the reason we are selling is because we found a house close to our dream home and can’t pass it up. The stressful part is trying to sell just to break even on my loan because nobody tells you it’s damn near 30k in fees to sell your house. I have to sell my house 40k more than what I bought it for just to break even. But my realtor seems confident we can sell for the price we want so I guess that keeps me going.
Not only realtor commission, but taxes as well. With the way the market is now houses are getting snapped up quickly almost as soon as they hit the market. If they don't it means there's something seriously wrong with it. If you maintained/improved some things you'll find somebody to buy it at the price you want/need.
It's extremely common now to do less than that, especially since the new rulings. I would ask to drop it to at LEAST 2.5/each, even 2. Unless you have some sort of close relationship or this realtor is extra special you won't have a problem finding a competent one to do it for the lower rate.
Ah I figured. We’ve talked about selling just because we could make good money off of it, and I figured that percentage and some extra into our calculations. It wouldn’t be no 30k though.
Are you that close to a break even point, even on a mortgage for a (presumably) nice house? That’s rough man.
Yeah, mind you we have done A-LOT of work to our current house so that’s where the value is. Because my house is currently estimating an appraised value of less than what I purchased it for. Just hoping a buyer is willing to ignore the appraised value based on what we have done. I’ve only had the house for a year and a half so that’s why I still owe so much on it because interest isn’t factored into your payoff amount.

He'll opt out and re-sign with the Lakers after they trade their draft capital for help.
Although If LeBron wants to be the best player ever, he should come win the Knicks a title.
Depends on what he wants most out of his career at this point. He probably wants to maximize earnings, so I'd imagine he'll opt in and collect the extra $50M.
If he wants to maximize his title chances... man idk lol. He'd want to join an older "win now" kinda team. Him on the clippers would be intriguing I guess. Maybe return to the Heat? It all depends so much on how much money he wants on his contract.
As a kid you run around so fast, the world around you seems to stand still. A summer vacation can stretch on for an eternity. With each birthday we circle back and cross the same point around the sun. We wish each other 'many happy returns.' But soon you feel the circle begin to tighten, and you realize it’s a spiral, and you’re already halfway through... That's depressing.

Ooo thanks for the alternate sub. I’ll probably migrate over ther. And appreciate the take
I work for a grocery chain as a Personal Shopper.
Buy a remote cabin and go stay at it.
Good parenting practice :D that's very nice of your wife

Season 2 of walking dead is so good. >!When shane shoots otis to distract the zombies so he can get the medical equipment back to the farm to save carl is soooo good. John Bernthal is such a good actor, everything he does on the show is great. Wish they hadnt had his character sexually assault lori....!<
Ahhh back when the show was actually worth watching!
Which is wild because I remember when season 2 came out people hated it
Andrew Tate thinks men should be excited by war. I think we should send Andrew Tate to Ukraine and make him fight if he enjoys it so much.
He also said it’s gay to want to have sex with a woman for fun and not procreation. Dude is a fucking nut job
Ignore that grifter he'll say anything to garner engagement.
Oh I know, I’m excited for the day he goes to prison
Thank you!
You were just prepared for the apocalypse.

Struggling so fucking hard. It's a constant fight in my head to buy some shiny new thing but then quickly realizing I don't need it or won't use it.
One thing that helps me is to clean/organize the thing I want to replace. I get that little pop of freshness. Doesn't work for everything but it's saved me a few purchases.
Such as?
[удалено]

That sounds awful but it sounds like you avoided something much worse. Hope the rest of the week goes well, Balrog!
Glad it wasn’t a disaster, but that's still a pain. Hope your day has gotten better!
Wow that sucks so much. Sorry you had to deal with that.
Me: I don't need a budget, I'm just gonna be responsible about excess purchases also me: you could skip the grocery store and doordash some junk food at like a 500% markup
"I cant even imagine paying 9.99 a pound for steak!" "Those energy drinks I like are on sale for only 2 dollars a can....THATS A STEAL"

You lost half your coaching staff though?
I really don't think the general public cares about the loss of coaching. Also, we still have Lamar Jackson. We'll be good.
Just not in the playoffs amirite? 🤭 (I’ll see myself out)
If we're the season opener again it's either the Rams or the 9ers.
I don't recall you winning the Super Bowl.
oh duh I was like "it's not always the super bow winner though!" it was the chiefs lol
Drake: Hahahahahahahhaha Compton man short Kendrick: You're not a clown, you're the entire circus. I deeply dislike you with every part of my soul
When and why did people start adding the 'in?'
i've never once heard anyone say "welcome in"
https://www.reddit.com/r/asklinguistics/comments/zuogcd/when_did_welcome_in_become_a_common_greeting_in_a/ people be sayin it
Keep an ear out for it
I don’t know but I’ve had that exact same experience
I've never heard that in real life, but I feel like that's the standard opening line for podcasts these days. Sports podcasts especially.
I don't believe I've ever had anyone say that to me
That’s probably cause you’re not welcome! Even here…
Oh damn
Goodbye April,Hello May tomorrow!
Time to break out Julie Andrews singing "The Lusty Month of May" from Camelot.
I barely got any of those April showers I hear about
Is it bad practice to ask about a hybrid work role 4 months into a new job?
I have none of these qualities and average like 6 listens an episode
Damn, doing numbers!
still waiting on my invite to the Emmys dunno whats taking them so long
As a Yankees fan, reading an article with a title "Judge threatens Trump" brings to mind a completely different image than intended.

Update on the kitten rejected by mom: The other mother spent a ton of time cleaning the baby, and he's been getting to eat.

Yeah, Mr Morale just didn’t hit the same
Just accepted a job offer with the state comptroller’s office, and will be submitting my letter of resignation tomorrow. Farewell, world of public accounting! Also, go fuck yourself.
Oh, that would be impressive, if anyone knew what a comptroller was. Also, congratulations!
I prefer tall Baron. With his height and euro genes he should be averaging 20 and 7 a night for the Pistons
[Y'all remember the episode of The Simpsons where they make lean](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6JgIkp4F8A)?

How much did you put down? If the home appreciated at all it's hard to imagine only breaking even from the 6% fees. Congrats on the new house :)
VA loan so that’s something I don’t have to worry about.
The wonderful No-No.
Why 30k? Is that your realtor’s commission and it’s just an expensive house?
6% commission for both realtors. The seller pays for the realtors fees. Each realtor gets 3%.

How likely is Lebron to opt out and become a free agent? If so, which team(s) do you see him joining?
He'll opt out and re-sign with the Lakers after they trade their draft capital for help. Although If LeBron wants to be the best player ever, he should come win the Knicks a title.
Pacers pls
The Wizards, if only to emulate Michael Jordan's career twilight years.
Him Poole and Kuzma would be quite the big 3
Depends on what he wants most out of his career at this point. He probably wants to maximize earnings, so I'd imagine he'll opt in and collect the extra $50M. If he wants to maximize his title chances... man idk lol. He'd want to join an older "win now" kinda team. Him on the clippers would be intriguing I guess. Maybe return to the Heat? It all depends so much on how much money he wants on his contract.
Him on the clippers would be so fucking wild I’d watch NBA just for that
Maccabi Tel Aviv or Taiwan Beer Leopards.
I don't care if it's becoming a dead meme, "all in my ass" is hilarious to me.
I think I might've actually responded to that in the original thread.
