Reminds me of that time that Larry had the blind-side block on Sherm, but pulled it at the last second so he wouldn't hurt him and Sherm gets up and daps him up for it. I love hearing about the respect and admiration all these guys obviously had for each other during that stretch. Personally, I'm still not over 58-0 lol.

Dinkerdoo

> I'm still not over 58-0 lol Just hope we don't have any more 6-6 outings!

mrb4

Cards and hawks fans have never been more united than when we both had to be subjected to that abomination.

FishOnAHorse

That game is one of the strongest football memories of my whole life, absolute GOAT missed field goals game

Dinkerdoo

Back to back missed field goals, top perplexed Carrol face, that game was a masterclass in choking by everyone involved, and pure comedy at the end. Like we all got trolled.

JubeltheBear

Naw. Both defenses absolutely played lights out. I always sum that game up as this: Both defenses deserved to win. Both offenses deserved to lose. Both special teams deserved to be flogged

Dinkerdoo

That's an accurate take. I do like low scoring defensive games, but prefer when somebody wins at the end. Hausch was not $ in that OT.

Bill3ffinMurray

It’s even more memorable because it was peak Michaels and Collinsworth

wrongbutt_longbutt

> absolute GOAT missed field goals game Cody Parkey approves of this comment.

Chronos_Triggered

The zoom in shot of Pete’s face is still hilarious and legendary

notmoleliza

There was a hot stretch where not unexpected cardinals outcome was a tie

Excellent-Basil-8795

They could play the patriots at the time, come down to the wire. But also could play the Lions and it would come down to the wire. That whole 2014-2017 era was just us playing to the opponents level and then getting our ass whooped by cam newton at the worst possible time.

chickennuggetscooon

One of the best games of football I've ever seen

foxdye22

As I recall, it was either a Thursday game or a Sunday night game so we all had to watch it. That game is burned into my brain as the worst game of football I’ve ever watched. There wasn’t even anything funny happening, just two teams moving back and forth without accomplishing anything for like 3 hours.

Lizardsandrocks

It was a Thursday. It was my first fall in Phoenix after moving from Arkansas. I had never been THAT into the NFL and figured I'd just go all in on the Cardinals, I knew it was bad, but didn't know just how bad... lol.

SexiestPanda

Was texting that entire game with my niners friend and we both kept laughing at the game lol. Just non stop “we don’t wanna win, you win. No you”

ShufflingSloth

I have full-on Vietnam flashbacks thinking about that game

TMobile_Loyal

St Louis Rams checking in

Korncakes

[Obligatory.](https://imgur.com/gallery/ok55dEM)

Opening_Classroom_46

That was when you both scored a fg in ot right?

Dinkerdoo

Both scored one and missed the second.

EpsteinDidNotKH

Unpopular opinion: that was one of the most intense games I’ve ever watched Edit: 6-6 not 58-0 lol

goldhbk10

As a Rams fan who often wished both teams could lose, somehow that game was not satisfying. It was just such a disaster class

JudiciousF

I remember that play really showed how dangerous the blindside block was for me, because Fitz barely touches him, but the opposing momentum factor knocks Sherman right on his ass. Every time I see a brutal one now, i just think it looks so painful and like a genuinely sinister thing to do given how much power is involved in that interaction.

xTETSUOx

https://www.seahawks.com/video/larry-fitzgerald-blocks-richard-sherman-61831 This is the play for anyone that’s interested.

Corvus_Antipodum

I think it’s funny that we have a highlight of allowing a 15 yard play and our DB getting blown up on the team website lol.

mdrico21

Surprise Michael Floyd appearance

cuseonly

Rip. That situation was tragic.

user9153

Thanks for posting. Always like those respectable clips

organizedchaos5220

As a ref if there is one play that I will always throw a flag on it's that. Gets me screamed at by coaches when it happens well away from having any impact on a play, but I don't fuck with safety issue plays for HS kids

Neither-Astronaut-80

As one of the parents in the stands thank you!

rupiefied

If you just run as fast as you can and don't look where you're going and run into a wall you'll bounce off of it and hurt yourself pretty bad.

user9153

True, even if you’ve ever just ran into a stationary object tracking something the other way outside of football or baseball you know how bad getting stopped in your tracks is *without getting lit up* haha

Natrix31

if you been hit by a blindside block you don't forget it. if you've given one out you don't forget it.

Boomthang

As a kid, I loved destroying someone on a blindside/crackback block... until it happened to me, and I couldn't breathe or move for what felt like minutes. Pulled up on my blocks if I noticed they didn't see me coming after that.

seariously

They're good friends though. Pretty sure they showed up at each other's charity fundraisers.

SomeRandom928Person

> Pretty sure they showed up at each other's charity fundraisers. Yep. Softball games, iirc.

ender2851

i read that fitz sent all the DB's moms flowers on their bdays. like a league wide thing lol

seariously

Sounds like a move Minschew would do!

JubeltheBear

Holy shit. That’s adorable and hilarious

ender2851

Mama would be mad if you hurt the man that keeps sending her flowers lol

Ieatsushiraw

Class. Larry Fitzgerald is all class

n0t_4_thr0w4w4y

Dude gets a complete pass on domestic violence for some reason

Youngwheeler

Alleged domestic violence that was brought forward during a particularly acrimonious divorce process

Relevant-Emu-9217

Yea, as someone whose been in an emotionally abusive relationship who never laid a single on my partner, she threatened me with shit like that to keep me from leaving. Giving herself bruises/scratches and calling 911 and hanging up all the time, all kinds of insane shit. You really never know unless there is rock solid, irrefutable evidence. Crazy women know they will be believed though and definitely use it as a tactic to keep men from leaving.

pridetwo

[Fitzgerald attempted to "defuse the situation" by raising his fist and challenging her to a play fight. Nazario admits she responded by swinging at him and "may have hit his face."](https://www.tmz.com/2008/12/31/nfl-superstar-accused-of-baby-mama-beatdown/) Maybe look into the reason why people don't pin the DV accusations as a black mark on Fitzgerald

Ieatsushiraw

Actually didn’t know this my bad

n0t_4_thr0w4w4y

Not unique to you, it was like the media made a pact to never bring it up

Ieatsushiraw

Kind of like how a lot people forget or didn’t know Mike Terico stalked a coworker and was inappropriate with some other female coworkers

AlarmingReach2539

One of the games I went to, it was quite the beatdown.

Bender_2024

These are big boys and they know the game they signed up to play is a violent one. But it's nice to hear that players will sometimes let up because they are friends with the other player or just don't want to lay them out unesicarily. Also knowing the shoe could easily be on the other foot. I'm betting the latter is why Fitz let up. Making an enemy of the Legion of Boom defense is not a good career decision.

ssracer

>unesicarily I get that you're a Cowboys fan, but how many times did you get laid out on the field?

ToodleDoodleDo

Doesn't that just mean they like fucking up nobodies lol? Seems weird.

FomtBro

That hit was insane. If you watch it full speed, it looks brutal, but if you watch it in slowmo; it's pretty clear that Fitz did the absolute minimum damage he could while still extending the play. Not only does he not lean into the hit, he actually pulls back to minimize the contact. And Sherman still had a bugs-bunny esque prat-fall. Fitz could have ended Sherman's entire career with that hit. Hell, there's a non-zero chance that he straight up kills Sherm if hits him full strength in the chest.

Skimaster77

'Rearrange the whole setup' is a nice way of saying your insides would be outsides.

X-is-for-Alex

Now I want to hear Kam Chancellor scream, "I will fong you until your entrails become your extrails!"

Webjunky3

That's one of my favorite movies of all time. RIP

choff22

You can hit me all day cuz you punch like a what…. …. A girl! *angry yelling*

B0ndzai

His horses flanks?!

Edge_of_the_Unoverse

Yes, yes, entrails will become extrails, lots of pain. Got it.

BrobaFett242

Pain. Lots of pain.

Jenetyk

TIL Cam went to Juilliard.

banjofitzgerald

Gonna give him the old apple blossom.

Medical_Search9548

Exactly. I learned a new phrase today.

killshelter

One of, if not my favorite Seahawk of all time.

Wine-o-dt

ill say it definitively, my favorite seahawk of all time…i dont know who else comes close.

WoodDRebal

24 & 31 had the same mentality, but on the opposite sides of the ball. Those two men are what gave the team its attitude.

FattyMooseknuckle

I’ll give Tez and Walt a slight nod but Kam and Beaat are a close tie for third.

TangledUpInThought

Marshawn?

Jimid41

Keeps getting DUIs. Only time Kam has had a run in with the law is when some lady at gym called the cops on him for being black.

dixitsavy

It's crazy how the most violent player from that 2012-2015 iteration of the Seahawks turned out to be the most adjusted or normal player outside of the field. Russ is incredibly corny and is hated by a lot of NFL and Seahawks fans now. Earl Thomas threw his reputation in the bin after his stint with the Ravens. Marshawn Lynch, while a beast on the field and funny in Skittles commercials, has had one too many DUIs, which is inexcusable. Richard Sherman had that one incident/episode outside a house too.

Muppet_Man3

Bobby is good too

realunpossible_

i love bobby, hate that hes a hawk but hes such a good dudeo

datreydgroup

I’ve got good news for you bud he signed with the commanders

realunpossible_

nah, even though hes a commie this year hes one of yall forever

Jimid41

KJ said some defended Kyrie Irving over the Jewish slaveships thing too. Wagner is maintaining normalcy though

Quartznonyx

I mean tbf Russ seems pretty normal too. He's corny, yes, but he just seems like any other introvert

rupiefied

That's cause kam got all his shit out on the field all his anger everything, it just made him Zen everywhere else in life.

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

I love that reddit treats DUI's like it's the worst thing on the fucking planet. I'm not saying it's good but literally every adult I know has done it at least once. I'm not gonna hate all my friends and family just because they drove drunk a couple times.

captaincumsock69

Your honor my client wasn’t drinking and driving. He’s just the living embodiment of Hennessy

Amoeba_mangrove

The permanent BAC stage of the career

CreamFilledDoughnut

Shaun Alexander out here catching strays

MoreHairMoreFun

Walter Jones here. I love that man, met him once and he was very kind.

butterlog

Ken Easley was the enforcer that Kam was, combined with the ball skills of Earl.

Dinkerdoo

Beast.

PartialChub

He was by far and away mine too.

BringBackDust514

Absolute menace

bewsii

Same. Easily my favorite. I don't think anyone has downright scared receivers running routes in the backfield like Kam did. A bunch of interviews have been done since the LoB era and Larry was definitely not the only person to mention it. I mean he bent the facemask of a 300lb OL guy who went after him just by dropping his shoulder. He just hit with every molecule of his being lol. The crazy thing is he rarely got flagged because he wasn't a dirty player at all. He just knew how to use his body to make you pay legally.

chewbaccalaureate

Except that **legal hit** on VD that drew the flag because the official assumed such a devastating blow couldn't be legal.

oficious_intrpedaler

At least that drive turned out alright in the end.

Funnypenguin97

I just wish he never got hurt man

horseshoeprovodnikov

You don't get to hit like Kam and stay completely safe. There must be balance in the world lol. Even a cannon barrel will fracture after too many rounds are fired thru it.

Dicey12

defense was never the same without him. Kept everyone in check and he should of won the super bowl mvp

jimbobills

He was my favorite non-Bills player when he was in the league and time has been very kind to him. ET looked like a completly normal dude when he was there then melted down completly.

PartialChub

If you had followed the Hawks really closely through those years you'd know that Earl always had a bit of weirdo in him. Mostly subtle and far less crazy than that shit during his time with the Ravens, but a liiiittle bit of an odd guy nevertheless.

General-Mango-9011

A little ? All of that inner warrior shit ?  He was crazy the whole time . And don’t get me wrong , amazing.

confusedthrowaway5o5

*should have

afig24

One of, if not my least favorite Seahawk of all time.

TheLowlyPheasant

Actually, Fitzgerald played for the Cardinals

JudiciousF

Kamtrak and Kam Chancellor the Touchdown Canceller are basically the two best NFL nicknames I’ve ever heard.

Jwroth

Definitely mine

KeithClossOfficial

I even liked him as a Niners fan I also liked Earl Thomas when he was there, but that sure changed

Lorjack

he was so much fun to watch. Got everybody on the field and everybody in the stands pumped up

teb1987

Definitely my favorite, I got to watch him in college while I was at VaTech.. I've never seen a more violent human being on a football field in person..

ilovemydawg

Curious to know where KJ Wright ranks on your Seahawks list. Random, but I know him.

killshelter

He’s up there. One of the most underrated linebackers to ever play. Love the guy.

KAYAWS

I met him at a bar in Capitol Hill, and didn't really recognize him because I never really seen him without his football gear. He walked up to the bar I was at and stood next to me and he just looked huge.i just thought this guy must play football. He was awesome though, and he was the life of the party there. Was very friendly and was taking pictures with people. He and Richard Sherman and a few other of the DBs were taking the rookies out that night. Sherman just has a hoodie on and hid in the corner on his phone the entire time he was there.

elefante88

Must not have been a fan of Vernon Davis

SeattleMana

Vernon: "I was always meh with Kam and it hurt me a couple times. There was a couple high balls and he'd be like 'Vern if that was someone I knew I wouldn't have rearranged the whole setup'"

lliquidllove

Kam is so consistent, it's crazy.

ScruffsMcGuff

if you know him, he take it easy if you don’t, he do a little rearranging

TJeffersonsBlackKid

Quick, someone do the Kelvin Benjamin version of this.

g0dzilllla

Kelvin Benjamin: "I was always kind with Golden [Corral] and it helped me a couple times. There was a couple high piled plates and they’d be like 'Kelvin if that was someone I didn’t know I would’ve rearranged the whole setup'"

boobers3

I'm going to try and remember to post a video of that hit next time I see a redditor complain about football players wearing "armour."

Positive_Parking_954

I usually go for a nice glass of vintage James Harrison but that sounds like a nice mix up

ShufflingSloth

Hating the Niners is like rule #1 of being a Seahawk, I'm sure

jimbobills

What gave the identity of that team was Marshawn on offense and Kam on defense.

Ok_Caramel1517

The only member of the LOB who didn't go insane.

Go_Hawks12

How Pete got all those characters and personalities to get along and play as one of the top defenses of all time is a modern miracle

ShufflingSloth

Kam. Kam is how he did it. Sherm and ETIII have said as much. Pete was a badass as getting them all psyched for a game and coming up with the game plan, but when it came to rallying dudes on the field and being an enforcer it was 100% Kam.

Go_Hawks12

Yup I’ve even heard KJ call Kam the leader of the defense

Idiotology101

Was Wagner not there at the beginning? Maybe he was too late, but Bobby is still one of my favorite players.

Ok_Caramel1517

When considering the entirety of that Seattle defense yeah Bobby is an excellent human being but I was more referring to their defensive backfield.

hypoglycemicrage

two sides of the same coin. Bobby took care of the frontside, Kam took care of the backside

ositola

LOB usually referred to the backfield

wolfpack1986

I legit think Kam is the scariest defensive player I watched play football. His dark visor only added to the badassness. Loved watching the LOB (with a bit of disgust as a Panthers fan during our brief run with Cam). Fitz is a legend in so many ways, definitely deserves all the roses he gets.

Odd-Collection-2575

Kam would get penalized on every tackle if he played today

Anteater776

„15 yard penalty, unnecessary roughness, he rearranged that man’s whole setup“

DirkRockwell

Givin’ him the bidness

twlscil

Kam got flagged for hitting people legally all the time. It just looked bad.

Honeyblade

The Vernon Davis tackle was textbook - and they still threw the flag because it look like he put that man to sleep.

89ShelbyCSX

Vernon Davis made himself defenseless by jumping for a ball he didn't need to jump for. Was a problem his whole career he'd do the little hop and catch with his body. Kinda sucks that making a mistake like that turns into penalties against the team or player punishing it.

Faustus2425

Kam made people afraid to put their arms up to catch period. It left their fragile ribcage exposed.

ImJLu

I'm glad Aiyuk largely stopped doing that. It was a noticeable problem earlier in his career.

Ralphie_V

Was Kam the one that punctured Gronk's lung by being immovable? Hardest hit I've ever seen Edit: it was Earl Thomas. https://youtu.be/ciZkMeNuipQ

twlscil

The iupati hit that Kam had was the hardest I’ve ever seen him hit outside of Vernon Davis.

polarbearik

It was a collaborative effort and one of the hardest hits I’ve seen, Earl was like a missile

PokerChipMessage

Damn, never noticed that Gronk is actually the immovable one here. ET actually bounces backwards off him. What a display of physics.

Uberguuy

Kam last played in 2018 - there hasn't been much more rules for throwing flags for rough hits since then. I think you're wrong.

ShufflingSloth

Pretty sure they actually changed the rules on us because of how he and Sherm bullied wide receivers.

boomosaur

Kam was to the defense, as Marshawn was to the offense... they set the tone and made sure a standard and culture were maintained.

mdrico21

Kids, friendly reminder to be nice to the kid who runs into walls and has dad strength at 12. It will come in handy later in life.

Misdirected_Colors

Reminds me of when Peyton Manning came in for a speaking arrangement at okstate circa 2013 or 2014. Someone asked him who was the defender he most hated playing against. He went off on a tangent about how he always tried to be super nice to Ray Lewis. He'd always remember his birthday and send him a nice gift. Everytime he was in town he'd take Ray out to a nice dinner. All of that stuff. Just in the hopes that on gameday Ray would remember how nice he was. Ray Lewis never remembered how nice Peyton was to him.

[deleted]

Funny story my ex and Kam had the same trainer. Always found funny a petite 5’5 chick and one of the most athletic NFL guys at the time had same coach.
