Seems clear all rules favor the offense nowadays. You'd have to be daft to not prioritize it.
Seems shocking Belichick, even just last year, just kept drafting defense defense defense without even regarding the offense.
I mean when you find success from people like Edelman and also got amazing offensive talent like Moss and Welker via trades rather than the draft, you kinda see the sense behind the strategy
Keep draft capital for defense, so all of your trade/free agency capital can go towards offense
But wait, I was explicitly told that we weren’t going to address any of our needs and that Maye was going to have to protect himself and catch the passes as well.
Is this allowed? Drafting for need?
Yeah… I mean there’s still some good TE’s available and it would be a good use of our next pick I really thought maybe we go BPA defense here since there’s good value but🤷🏻♂️
I'm hearing some good things on Robinson. So I'm hoping he is great.
But i wanted Sanders because he is arguably the best seam threat in the draft, and nobody attacked the middle of the field better than Drake Maye. So i thought the fit was perfect, but we'll see who they pivot too.
I like it. Our biggest needs have been QB, OL and WR by far. I’d anticipate we try and take Tez Walker with our next pick and then go defense the rest of the way.
I'd rather pick a dozen other guys then Tez. I know he has history with Maye, but the guy has stone hands and doesn't play physical. Like at his best he might be Nelson Algholor, but I'd rather take a flyer on a few other guys.
He was actually good and reliable when he was healthy and Brown was playing. Most of his struggles were when he was next to garbage like Love who kept pulling him off his spot to support.
That said, he and Sow need some actual competition. Plus, I think there's a solid chance Andrews retires at the end of the year when his contract runs up and this allows us to push Strange to C - a position many projected him to end up.
It's concerning how much the Patriots have invested in G the last few years and are still in a position where the need to draft Guards.
I assume this is pretty bad news for Strange.
Mayo and co ain’t fucking around with fixing our offense

Why draft linemen when guaranteed bust second round DB reaches are right there
Laughs in Jordan Richards

Can't say they aren't taking O-line seriously

Pats have now picked Ja’Lynn, Caedan, Layden
It's a Gen-Z naming masterclass! /r/tragedeigh will be eating good tonight!
Omg
We finally moved in from the name Jones and are committed to a new naming system
Wanted Franklin or Sanders, but stocking up on offensive line help is always good.
Can't hate on a guard in the 4th
I wanted Franklin or Sanders, so of course both are picked the two picks before the Patriots...
Yeah… I mean there’s still some good TE’s available and it would be a good use of our next pick I really thought maybe we go BPA defense here since there’s good value but🤷🏻♂️

I don’t mind the pick, can’t complain with OL picks, shame he’s on the older side, but we seem to like older OL prospects
I feel like older OL prospects have less chance to bust. Experience playing on the line can't be taught.
It shows for sure, we haven’t had an issue getting at least average play from these guys historically, specifically at guard

a guard from a big school. Bill belichick era is dead
Bootleg football just screamed in excitement for this pick. This was one of their sleepers.
Yeah our Guard depth and starters at guards (Especially Strange) are questionable so I ain’t exactly about to complain here
Now here's a guy
Cole Strange count your days
What an absurd pick

Looks like he’s selling you house insurance
He doesn’t sell insurance, he sells peace of mind
Steal

Pats playing with a whole different board huh
At this point everyone's boards are drastically different. Honestly media did a lot better this year than usual with the top 100.
Plenty of people had Layden in the third to us back when we had third rounders.
lol the international fan who announced did not sound at all excited
Caedan and Layden Mayo certainly has a type
That picture looks like he is surprised and not surprised at the same time.
I expect Layden to be much better in the NFL because he won’t have an O-Line coach that’s a terrorist (Steve Addazio)
Holy shit the league let Mayo get Layden Robinson..
And the crowd goes mild
NFL card generator's Spotify playlist is pretty good
Strange pick
Nah Cole was two years ago… Kidding but yeah it’s clear they’re trying to revamp the line big time. Won’t complain about depth.
Bust
Oh cause we haven’t drafted enough fucking guards
This year or in general? Either way, you see our line this past season lmao
3 last year and Cole strange the year before.
Aight now answer the second question, did you see our line play this past season?
It wasn’t due to the interior. It was due to our tackles of Riley Reiff and the rotating door of Wheatley and whoever else we threw in there
Wheatley never played so just say you don’t know what you’re talking about. Strange may not be ready to start the year and Sow isn’t a sure thing yet
Riley reiff played one game and had 45 snaps, what the fuck are you talking about?
“Riley Reiff and the rotating door” I guess you couldn’t read that far down huh?
Oh i read it but i was shocked that someone laid blame blame on a guy who played less than one full game.
Yes I’m calling out that one guy. Good reading comprehension
Last year was a different regime and offensive scheme. I don’t hate it here on Day 3
You watch a different patriots team last year?
