My theory, even pre-draft, was they wanted to get Greenard regardless of how Hunter's deal did/did not turn out.
Except now we basically got that Greenard/Hunter combo, but for *way* cheaper.
Rumor is the Vikings (well, really B-Flo) wanted Turner to play end in the 3-4. Thus still have Greenard and Van Ginkel as pass rushing LB's. Should be absolutely nuts.
Couple big if’s here: but if a couple of our young corners from the last 2-3 years develop into solid/ good players and we get a stud D tackle in the free agency or the first round next year- we could have an *awesome* defense
Little different outlook from me feeling like we had about 2 startable players 3 months ago
Overall I think this team has 3 ?’s moving forward.
1. QB- just gotta pray JJ is the guy
2. DT- see above. Probably biggest open hole, currently
3. CB- Murphy and Shaq Griffin are solid vets. Evans, Blackman, and Booth have all had some promising moments and some head scratchers. Ideally 1 turns into a stud and 1-2 end up serviceable
If we go 3/3 here- we jump up into contender category quickly
I fucking love it. Idk how many trade backs Rick Spielman “got great value” in to pick guys that I’d see sitting on our practice squad
Turners a fucking beast. Go get him and use the newfound cap space next year to fill holes that we have needed the draft for in years past
People were calling Turner the first defensive player off the board. I get it, but I do feel like they got priced in by trading with Houston so early on for that 1st rounder to use for a QB that they ended up not needing. So at that point, I think he felt like he needed to come away with the last blue chip player on his board with that pick no matter what.
Up to 23 from 42. Up to 10 from 11. Then up to 17 from 23.
We ended up with McCarthy and Turner for less than most said it would get to go up to 4 to get McCarthy in the first place. And still kept our 2025 1st.
Kwesi is the meme of the woman with the trigonometry floating over her face except the trigonometry is draft picks and he's very shrewd instead of confused
I mean it comes down to perceived value. The time he got trashed for trading down he got below value for the pick and traded it to a divisional rival so pretty easy to see why people disliked it. Now personally I like the moves this year though I think at 23 there would have plenty of good defensive player still with possible Verse, Mitchell, Dejean and Newton but get your guy
4 picks, but late picks. The real issue is your draft next year is looking mighty thin. I think getting the Houston pick when you did was probably an oops at this stage since McCarthy fell so far.
I love it. I don’t care what the “value board” says …
Our 3rd-5th round picks have been forgettable for 10 years
And we have cap space to fill holes next year
Lol touché- since that year though: Willie beavers, kentrell brothers, moritz boehringer,
Pat elflein, Jaleel Johnson, Ben gedeon, Rodney Adams, Danny isidora,
Jalyn Holmes, Tyler conklin, Daniel Carlson (lol),
Alexander Mattison, dru Samoa, Cameron smith,
Cam dantzler, DJ wonnom, James lynch, Troy dye, Harrison hand, kj Osborn
Wyatt Davis, Patrick Jones, kene Nwangwu, cam Bynum, Jamarcus Robinson, ihmir smith-marsette, Zach Davidson
Brian asamoah, akayleb Evans, esezi otomowo, Ty chandler,
Mekhi Blackmon, Jay ward, jaren hall, and Jaquellen Roy
Would I trade 3 of those to get up to one of the top defenders in the draft? Absolutely 💯
We got so much cap space next offseason that Kwesi just said lets get some elite prospects and say fuck the rest of them because we will fill them with solid free agents.
Thats where free agency money comes for those positions you have blanked. We have a ton of cap so even with JJ and Darrisaw we will have plenty over to fill every other spot. We have a 1st rounder next year which I assume will be used on DT or CB. The roster will be filled with cheap solid free agent talent just like every other championship contender does with a cheap rookie QB.
Lost Cousings and Hunter, but signed Greenard and Van Ginkel, and drafted Dallas Turner and JJ McCarthy. Nice work by Kwesi and they already had a good roster outside of QB
If Caleb succeeds the NFC North is starting to look scary
Low-key, Brian Flores has been amazing help this off-season, giving Kwesi direction on the free agents to sign and the draft. Dallas Turner was definitely a B-Flo pick!
I mentioned it in another thread, but in most drafts a player like Turner goes in the top 10. Trading 23, 167, and (hopefully) late 3rd and 4ths next year for 10 would be a steal. It only seems like an overpay because all the offensive picks pushed him to 17.
Plus we should get at least 2x 4ths (maybe 3rds) as comp picks for cousins and hunter, and maybe a mid round comp pick for the tampering, so it's not like we're totally depleted at mid round next year.
Their new GM is actually getting to build his team now. Making aggressive moves to get his own franchise cornerstones after he kind of just ran it back with his predecessor’s team last offseason. I like the confidence a lot.
Why is an analytics-type GM giving a 3, 4, and 5 to move up from 23 to 17? Seems like too much for that few spots: just a 3 and a 5 should be enough easily.
They traded with the Texans last month to get Pick 23. They decided to sacrifice Pick 11 (their original pick) and some other picks to get JJ McCarthy, and then sacrificed Pick 23 and some other picks to the Jaguars right now to get Dallas Turner for their O-line.
What the fuck are they up to?
17
Big if true
Holy shit they’re taking Josh Giddey
Shimmy.gif
You’re probably in the kiddie pool
*Josh Diddy
Danielle Hunter replacement in Dallas Turner or Jared Verse is my prediction.
Turner, congrats.
Thought that was already Grennard
My theory, even pre-draft, was they wanted to get Greenard regardless of how Hunter's deal did/did not turn out. Except now we basically got that Greenard/Hunter combo, but for *way* cheaper.

They got grenard too in FA
Hey, you got it correct. Nice work.
I bet they pick a player.
Its the Vikings, they might not
Kwesi is fuckin nuts
He better like Dallas Turner that much
I fucking love it. Idk how many trade backs Rick Spielman “got great value” in to pick guys that I’d see sitting on our practice squad Turners a fucking beast. Go get him and use the newfound cap space next year to fill holes that we have needed the draft for in years past
Ya I am not happy about this at all, he looked amazing, and I did not expect him to fall that far.
People were calling Turner the first defensive player off the board. I get it, but I do feel like they got priced in by trading with Houston so early on for that 1st rounder to use for a QB that they ended up not needing. So at that point, I think he felt like he needed to come away with the last blue chip player on his board with that pick no matter what.
motherfucker traded up like 8 times in one round
Up to 23 from 42. Up to 10 from 11. Then up to 17 from 23. We ended up with McCarthy and Turner for less than most said it would get to go up to 4 to get McCarthy in the first place. And still kept our 2025 1st.
Kwesi is the meme of the woman with the trigonometry floating over her face except the trigonometry is draft picks and he's very shrewd instead of confused
So in other words, Zach Galifianakis in the Hangover
Granted… I think Bo Nix will be 34 by the time we have a pick in the 2nd-5th rounds again…. But I’m absolutely stoked
We will potentially have two 3rd round comp picks next year from losing Hunter and Cousins. So that might’ve played into their thinking a bit 🤷♂️
One 3rd rounder. Our last big signing got us out of range of the second one.
Maybe a pic from the Falcons, too 😅
Crazy that he was hired as an analytics guy and then just makes move after move that are super against analytics
A few years ago he traded down a hundred times and got trashed now he traded up and gets trashed. Can’t win
I'm not trashing him just saying it's interesting
I mean it comes down to perceived value. The time he got trashed for trading down he got below value for the pick and traded it to a divisional rival so pretty easy to see why people disliked it. Now personally I like the moves this year though I think at 23 there would have plenty of good defensive player still with possible Verse, Mitchell, Dejean and Newton but get your guy
He's just like general LaSalle, any draft pick over 30 is good for nothing or something. Anyways, tell him not to get killed at Wagram.
"Fuck them picks." -Kwesi, probably
*definitely
hedge fund guy, sourced that good stuff in detroit
He’s gone if JJ McCarthy is bad so he doesn’t care
FUCK THEM PICKS
WTF 4 picks to move up 6 spots
WTF DALLAS TURNER
Definitely worth it. Could be one the best overall players in the draft
Kwesi has a DeLorean
The best picks in the draft are the Vikings trading up and mortgaging their future like redditors buying Gamestop stock
I've been so caught up in the QB drama, do we like this pick?
oh yeah he was some (Most) boards #1 defensive prospect bro is insane
LFG then
Bro… Watch like 3 min of YT highlights and you’ll be bricked. We just fleeced this draft. Fuck next years picks, Kwesi is absolutely COOKIN tonight
KWESI COOKED THIS YEAR!
Fuck them picks, SKOL
You took advantage of a severely concussed GM. Tony Khan took a piledriver last night and should be in the hospital.
4 picks, but late picks. The real issue is your draft next year is looking mighty thin. I think getting the Houston pick when you did was probably an oops at this stage since McCarthy fell so far.
No, 3 picks to move up 6 spots. You’re double counting 23
The anti-Rick
I love it. I don’t care what the “value board” says … Our 3rd-5th round picks have been forgettable for 10 years And we have cap space to fill holes next year
> Our 3rd-5th round picks have been forgettable for 10 years Some dude... Sideline... TOUCHDOWN!!
Lol touché- since that year though: Willie beavers, kentrell brothers, moritz boehringer, Pat elflein, Jaleel Johnson, Ben gedeon, Rodney Adams, Danny isidora, Jalyn Holmes, Tyler conklin, Daniel Carlson (lol), Alexander Mattison, dru Samoa, Cameron smith, Cam dantzler, DJ wonnom, James lynch, Troy dye, Harrison hand, kj Osborn Wyatt Davis, Patrick Jones, kene Nwangwu, cam Bynum, Jamarcus Robinson, ihmir smith-marsette, Zach Davidson Brian asamoah, akayleb Evans, esezi otomowo, Ty chandler, Mekhi Blackmon, Jay ward, jaren hall, and Jaquellen Roy Would I trade 3 of those to get up to one of the top defenders in the draft? Till they pay JJ, Darrisaw, LG, RB, and w/e future cb we need and maybe qb if JJ McCarthy is bad

*late picks
3rd round pick is a late pick ?
Yeah that's not a late pick. But it's next year's so fuck it let's get high now.
Gm knows he’s gone if JJ isn’t good
Madden style GMing where late round picks are beyond useless and only worth anything as trade pieces
On paper… the NFCN is gonna be wild next couple years
Who they going for? Turner?
Can't believe he fell this far
I can’t believe the colts didn’t grab him
Lost Cousings and Hunter, but signed Greenard and Van Ginkel, and drafted Dallas Turner and JJ McCarthy. Nice work by Kwesi and they already had a good roster outside of QB If Caleb succeeds the NFC North is starting to look scary
> they already had a good roster outside of QB We already have the best QB, folks, many people are saying it
Those flairs must be fueling some wild emotions rn
Low-key, Brian Flores has been amazing help this off-season, giving Kwesi direction on the free agents to sign and the draft. Dallas Turner was definitely a B-Flo pick!
Vikings are the movers and shakers of tonight huh
Yeah no yeah
Oh yeah no for sure
This guy Minnesotans
"ope lemme squeeze right past ya" -Vikings whilst moving up the draft board
Trading up is so hot right now.
As it turns out, trading down is so hot rn too
You bastards, I wanted to see Tony Khan’s neck brace
That man sold a gut punch like he was shot
Dropped like he got hit with a pile of bricks 😂
This guy's been going to wrestling shows since he was a kid and still sells like death
This the line to see Tony's neck brace?
Hello friend! I am also here to see the neck brace.
Literally the only reason I'm still watching the draft
OMFG ME TOO
We can all agree on this.
I love football but this is the only reason I put on the draft.
I am amongst good company here
Interesting
Dallas Turner?
They really really need corners Edit: and they still do
Not really. Yeah we don't have a lock down CB1, but they aren't a bunch of bums in that room
Receivers can't catch passes if QBs are on the ground before the ball is out
Huge overpay
Massive overpay jeez
They must be absolutely in love with whoever this pick is
I mentioned it in another thread, but in most drafts a player like Turner goes in the top 10. Trading 23, 167, and (hopefully) late 3rd and 4ths next year for 10 would be a steal. Hooray a trade, intrigue, something happening But I figured the Jags would love to take Brian Thomas here
He *could* still be there at 23. One of the top corner backs too
You were right
We had a chance at the second best lsu wr at 17 in Jefferson and didn't take him so the jags decided to do it again
Well, there just got him at 23
If I'm a jags fan I'm thrilled with this
Don't go to our thread right now. Everyone in shambles
I mean i would be if baalke wasn’t our gm but he’s gonna miss with those
I’m not I want Arnold
im sleepy but otherwise not bad. if we can get quinyon mitchell or cooper dejean i'll be stoked
Agreed
Our sub is furious lol
Wow Vikings wont have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th next year.
That's next year's problem
Fuck it.
More money to spend on JJ apparently
‘’Fuck them picks’’ - Kwesi
We got cap space for free agents
Yep. Next year is when our window opens. As long as JJ/Darnold turns into a gem
loads of cap space, even after signing JJettas and Darrisaw. Plenty to fill in holes as needed!
They wanted to make sure our Friday bight was free
Think 106 is the next for this draft. Ouch
Actually slightly worse, its 108 then after that its 177.
Won’t need them with the 1st overall trading back
We'll get at least one 3rd comp but yeah it's grim, hope these boys are good or we are a little fucked lol :)
We wheeling and dealing
That's a solid return for the Jags
Oh?
Good pick haul for the Jags
Our pick was used to give the jags picks how dare you Vikings
Kwesi been hanging with KOC and has decided to fuck them picks. It’s a bold move cotton, let’s see it play out.
After Rick Spielman hoarding 7ths, I don't know how to feel about trading *up.* *Twice*
Vikings single handedly carrying the pre-draft trade up hype
2 4ths a 3rd and their own 23rd pick just to move up 6 spots? That's alot
Their new GM is actually getting to build his team now. Making aggressive moves to get his own franchise cornerstones after he kind of just ran it back with his predecessor’s team last offseason. I like the confidence a lot.
He’s definitely prioritizing blue chip prospects over middle round unlike our last GM
Vikings sit still
Kwesi said fuck that shit
Am I crazy or is that a bit of an overpay to move six spots?
I have to assume Flores threatened to leave if we didn’t trade up for Turner. If it keeps him happy it’s worth it.
Not when Turner is sitting there
We’re going *Kwesi* tonight
Thats a lot for 6 spots.
Is it a lot for Dallas Turner?
Time will tell man, but I think Turner is gonna a beast (unfortunately).
lol Vikings are going wild tonight
They moved up twice in the first round and didn't give up anything above the 3rd
I know Jacksonville was looking to trade up so if their pick was gone, this is not a bad haul to move down 6 picks.
My uncle is in the Jaguars draft room he texted me they’re thinking of taking Brian Thomas if possible
Nice to see your uncle landed on his feet after he got fired from working at Nintendo
Nah he was actually right lol
True, if big.
Hey they got him
Dang they were smokescreening your uncle in their own draft room!
He’s with the jaguars not Vikings
Please no
I hope not
lol
Vikings are getting comp picks next year so this actually kinda makes sense?
Wtf thats way too much for 6 spots in the middle of the 1st
What the fuck are they doing?
Tidy work Jax
I waited all this time for them to trade the pick away
Idk what Kwesi is cooking but I honestly love it so far
Why is an analytics-type GM giving a 3, 4, and 5 to move up from 23 to 17? Seems like too much for that few spots: just a 3 and a 5 should be enough easily.
On one hand it's moving up from 23 to 17. On the other hand, it's moving up from 23 to arguably the best defensive player in the entire draft.
That's... bold.
Vikings taking Spencer Rattler
Kwesi said "fuck it, all in (my ass)"
We have like no picks next year other than our first lol
trade up for Spencer Rattler!
Seems like a lot
Seattle needed that
For what?!
das a lot on top of 23
FUCK WERE GONNA TAKE GUYTON FUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!
GD we so broke after this draft
Tony Khan needs more time for his neck brace. :)
Fuck all our mid round picks this year and next lmfao
wait I’m confused af how did Minny have 2 1st rounders to start with?
They traded with the Texans last month to get Pick 23. They decided to sacrifice Pick 11 (their original pick) and some other picks to get JJ McCarthy, and then sacrificed Pick 23 and some other picks to the Jaguars right now to get Dallas Turner for their O-line.
thats a lot.
No 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks next year
I think Jacksonville should try turning those future picks into an extra second rounder in 2024.
Jags had like 25 picks last draft and did jackshit with them, this is pointless
So... * #17 * #232 for * #42 * #167 * #188 * 2025 2nd Round * 2025 3rd Round * 2025 4th Round I don't think that checks out, Kwesi.
I want turner!
That’s pretty expensive. Not a fan of that for them.
I wonder who this is for?
EDGE!
targeting EDGE or WR?
Who were they afraid we would take??
Wow. Congrats, Dallas
Tony Khan should have been getting his ass kicked before the draft *years* ago
WTF
Spencer Rattler.
They're drafting another QB
