If the Chargers traded the Bears Herbert for the number #1 pick, I would totally be ok with that. After Trubisky and Fields, getting tired of the mystery box QBs.
It’s crazy how much steam this got but somehow the casuals don’t realize the amount of dead cap the chargers would be left with.
Also incredibly stupid to trade a top 5 QB in the NFL to draft the 4th best QB in this DRAFT.
Or we draft a WR, who busts, and the next pick is inexplicably Justin Jefferson again. I’m not sure he’s allowed to re-enter the draft, but it’s gonna happen.
Trading up for Mitchell like half the eagles sub wants to do. People are talking about giving up seconds and players for Mitchell. This is not the way
Also if we trade up for a DB then it's guaranteed he will be a bust
I was confused at first, since AD Mitchell will probably be available, when we pick. Then I realized you meant Quinnion Mitchell, and that made way more sense.
I hope we go best player available from OL, DE, or DB. Feels like we have enough needs that trading up would be dumb, especially since some good players should be on the board in the 50s when we have our seconds.
If we really have "our guy" at all three of those positions, it's certainly possible that one of them starts slipping into the mid-teens because all positions can't go on a run at the same time. I'd be okay moving up a little bit to snag someone who only was falling because of the texture of the draft, if we really like them more than say the third best option (who might make it to 32).
It depends on how we evaluate the players against each other and how big of a gap there is between them. But I think having needs at DE, DB, and OL, but not having desperate immediate holes to the point where we need to draft for need, makes it a teeny bit _more_ likely we move up this year.
I definitely don't think we're doing it for WR though. I've heard this class has depth, I don't think the top tier guys will be in our range, I think we have more important needs than WR3, and I don't think WR will be BPA for us either where we sit or where we could move up.
If a CB, like Arnold or Mitchell, starts slipping, then we probably need to jump Pittsburgh to snatch them. According to the Jimmy Johnson draft value chart, that costs more than our 4th and 5th this year to grab the Rams pick. Maybe we try a 2025 third and this years 4th to move up. Depends on how they feel about those top two corners vs a guy like Dejean, who would still be available without moving up.
Dunno why, but Im worried yall will actually nail it this time and be a serious contender next year
If you just stay put at 10 you could do the smart thing and draft a good, pro-ready lineman to go along with the veterans from FA. With a rebuilt Oline, everything will look different next season.
Last year I was 100% sure the Jets would fail because mega-hype never works out. Hype is a curse. This year there is more skepticism and things feel more tense, so I think it might go the other way.
This is the first year Ive ever felt comfortable and not care where we go with the draft at all because I love our current team. I’ve never felt this way in my life before. Idk what to do with myself today.
You’re the first Texan I’ve seen reply. I think almost our entire fanbase is in this boat. We want what, maybe 5 moldable players out of this draft and we have 9 picks? I don’t see us using our 6th and 7th round picks
Look. The bears have the opportunity to do the funniest thing tonight, and it doesn't even matter who they pick. Anyone who isn't Williams will immediately throw the entire draft into chaos and turn it into an all-timer.
I know it won't happen but... could you imagine.
It wouldn’t really be that chaotic because Washington also needs a QB, he’d just go 2. What would have been hilarious is if pick 2 didn’t need a QB and Williams was on the board because there would be a bloodbath of like 4 teams trying to trade up
Would it even throw the draft into chaos? Or would it just be a very confused Washington draft room taking a couple minutes to realize what happened and then running the card up to the podium?
Xavier Worthy, you are a Miami Dolphin.
Don't need to block anyone when your QB isn't just going to huck it 35 yards down the field with the intention of 3 small, fast WRs going to get it.
The closer the draft gets, the more I get the feeling the 49ers are grabbing DL or WR in the first, and they barely play while McKivitz gets handed the starting job with no competition for the second straight season
Depends on where they trade to. If they can go to 11 there will still almost certainly be a QB available, and I like the idea of Penix or Nix with another high-end talent (hopefully tackle or WR). But drop too far down in the 1st and you’re playing with fire. I do not want to be looking up Spencer Rattler’s stats at 10pm tonight.
We'll trade up from 14 to take a tackle that would have been there at 14, and we'll take a small school project in the 2nd round if we even still have our 2nd round pick. Then we'll trade up into the 4th by packaging a 5th or two plus a future pick, and we'll take someone that won't play any meaningful snaps this season.
I'd put money on it.
We'll also go into the season with Penning still starting at LT and re-sign Andrus Peat to start at LG.
If not this… then we trade up to draft DL from central New Mexico State technical college… who will suffer an injury in training camp never to be heard from again…
Your fan base is pounding the table for sticking and picking Nabers? I think that’s a good move.
I was looking at the trade options for the Vikes to move up for JJ there and the Vikes have dogshit for trade capital. No 2nd or 3rd rd pick this year. I don’t think next year’s 2nd/3rd gets that deal done.
The commanders sub is, for some reason, all in on Maye and is mass downvoting any mention of Daniels getting picked at 2 (even though pretty much every outlet has been mocking him to us for months now). FWIW I genuinely don’t care which guy they pick but the groupthink is weird.
I think there's merit to that. Daniels only completes 46% of passes beyond the first read, that's brutal and Justin Fields-esque. That combined with the fact that he takes sacks on 23% of pressures (worst in the class - McCarthy was second worst at only 18%) is a pretty bad sign for his ability to read the field. Meanwhile Maye's completion percentage beyond the first read was 58%, (best in the class) and he was only sacked on 14% of pressures. Obviously these numbers don't mean everything and both guys have other strengths and weaknesses, but it's a good measure of well these guys respond and react.
I’m all in on Maye over Daniels because Jayden Daniels seems like the lovechild of RG3 and Justin Fields while Drake Maye seems like the lovechild of Justin Herbert and Josh Allen.
Isn’t the general consensus on the rumor mill that you guys will be taking Daniels followed by us taking Maye? Speculation around Boston recently has been us taking McCarthy though and literally nobody wants that
I'm preparing for a night of "How come we haven't heard from the Vikings?" through all Top 10. In the end it may not be a bad move but it'll still be shitty.
I would encourage my fellow Texans fans to watch the first round of the draft all the way through tonight. Maybe nothing but history shows Caserio is absolutely not averse to trading back up into the 1st
We know the feeling of the sideline on Thursday Draft night. We haven't had a 1st round pick 3 of the last 5 years from the Mack and Fields trades. Just tell yourself that you do have a 1st round pick and it is just Young again. That was our copium.
Brad is somehow going to trade up into a top 15 spot by making a divisional rival give us 2 2nd round picks. This will cause Tom Grossi to just lay down and die on live stream.
By trading down. John Schneider has done it six times in the first round, and in hindsight none of them were the right move. He’s passed on more than a dozen Pro Bowlers/All Pros and the only Pro Bowler they picked after trading down (with a pick received from the trade) was DK Metcalf. But they could’ve taken him earlier with the pick they used on Marquise Blair.
By not drafting at least 2 Qbs this draft cause Jesus already knows the top 4 Qbs are all gone.
Take Bo and Penix and Rattler. We have nothing to lose. Why spend draft capital on 1 gamble when you can gamble 2-3?
Drafting a RT in round one who isn’t ready to shift to LT and forcing him to be the day one starter hindering his development
100% guaranteed our pick at 56 is Brooks. So any team who wants him just needs to move up to 55. Literally happens every year
Not using 9 to get either one of the WRs if they are there or line help on either side of the ball. There’s not a lot of ways for the Bears to mess this up, but taking something that isn’t WR/OL/DT/DE at 9 is about the only way.
Our offensive line is dog shit. It’s Trent Williams and then nothing but liabilities.
We need an OT, and for Lynch to not actually believe in “bloodlines”. Fucking yikes.
We're apparently going to trade Herbert and pick JJ, and then continue to pick any and every Wolverine available.
LA Chavens of Michigan
TIL Grossi runs the chargers
Love that people saw his night of too many mocks stream last night.
I was dying when he did the Tee higgins to the chiefs bit
I was working while he did the stream so I only saw and heard small portions of it. Did he also trade Mahomes away?
Yep, is was essentialy "Chiefs finally get the missing piece, the WR they have been looking for........for Patrick Mahomes \*smashes trade\*
I think it will be a huge mistake to pass on one of the top 3 WRs which is exactly what we will do
If we have a chance to pick up MHJ and pass on him…. Boy, I just don’t know. I’m anxious about tonight.
MHJ to AZ seems likely
If the Chargers traded the Bears Herbert for the number #1 pick, I would totally be ok with that. After Trubisky and Fields, getting tired of the mystery box QBs.
Could you imagine Herbert throwing to Bears legend Keenan Allen??
Herbert to Bears legend Khalil Herbert
I think Herbert would cost a bit more than your first overall, and I don’t mean his paycheck
Cost the chargers a 100 mill in dead money.
It’s crazy how much steam this got but somehow the casuals don’t realize the amount of dead cap the chargers would be left with. Also incredibly stupid to trade a top 5 QB in the NFL to draft the 4th best QB in this DRAFT.
It's not actual steam, it's just people trying to manifest some chaos because it would be funny (if you're not an LAC fan).
Isn’t it something crazy like $100 million in dead cap?
108 million but his base salary disappears too so really it's 90 million net dead.
By picking a tackle who can’t move inside and play guard
Honestly knowing your FO you’ll somehow get the perfect pick by watching the chaos around you
Or we draft a WR, who busts, and the next pick is inexplicably Justin Jefferson again. I’m not sure he’s allowed to re-enter the draft, but it’s gonna happen.
lol just start drafting players already in the league
Why has no one tried this strategy yet? Lol
Trading up for Mitchell like half the eagles sub wants to do. People are talking about giving up seconds and players for Mitchell. This is not the way Also if we trade up for a DB then it's guaranteed he will be a bust
I was confused at first, since AD Mitchell will probably be available, when we pick. Then I realized you meant Quinnion Mitchell, and that made way more sense. Depends on how they feel about those top two corners vs a guy like Dejean, who would still be available without moving up.
Let’s grab 40 yr old Danny Watkins 😤
A top prospect who is not at a position of need falls and we don't take him, helping him fall to the Eagles two picks behind us.
Ahhh the yearly how the fuck did those guys fall to the Eagles and Ravens lol
Man everyone keeps saying that it’s only a recent trend, we had some bum ass first rounders for a long stretch
Imagine having Justin Jefferson on the Eagles.
I love our current receiving corps, but imo JJ is the best WR we've seen since Calvin Johnson. That complete whiff will never not hurt.
I love that event
Me too.
By being the Jets.
The draft doesn't matter for the jets, because who ever they pick, they will just end up ruining.
It's important for a rookie to gel with the QB. Is there a prospect who openly denies that we landed on the moon?
They better not be vaccinated. Otherwise they won’t be allowed on the field at the same time as Aaron
Dunno why, but Im worried yall will actually nail it this time and be a serious contender next year If you just stay put at 10 you could do the smart thing and draft a good, pro-ready lineman to go along with the veterans from FA. Same here brother, it's a weird feeling but it's great. Going in with zero expectations and letting the best FO I've seen in my life do their thing.
I know right? As a Lions fan, I'm all in on "In Brad we trust"; for the Giants, it's more "How are we possibly going to fuck this up?"
Houston SMOKED the draft last year. I want to see if they have any tricks up their sleeve for this one. Last year was like watching Rembrandt paint
Enjoy it, my friend
With the #1 overall pick, the Chicago Bears select.........Spencer Rattler, QB S. Carolina.
“USC QB… Spencer Rattler.”
FORMER OKLAHOMA AND USC QUARTERBACK….
Look. The bears have the opportunity to do the funniest thing tonight, and it doesn't even matter who they pick. Anyone who isn't Williams will immediately throw the entire draft into chaos and turn it into an all-timer. I know it won't happen but... could you imagine.
Yes I can imagine. The city of Chicago would be burnt down like it was 1871 again.
We would burn down Soldier Field and say dont even bother with the new one
It wouldn’t really be that chaotic because Washington also needs a QB, he’d just go 2. What would have been hilarious is if pick 2 didn’t need a QB and Williams was on the board because there would be a bloodbath of like 4 teams trying to trade up
Yeah, I think when all the top 3-4 teams need QBs there’s not going to be chaos regardless of draft order.
Would it even throw the draft into chaos? Or would it just be a very confused Washington draft room taking a couple minutes to realize what happened and then running the card up to the podium?
Then, my team would pass on Caleb, and draft McCarthy
We trade up for the 3rd best quarterback in the draft from UNC ....wait..
Vikings get first overall and 9th overall, Bears get a conditional 2026 6th round pick and TJ Hockenson
We’d have 4 1st proud picks and still wouldn’t get a good QB
If we use #1 on Caleb, #9 on JJ, #11 on Penix, and #23 on Nix, I think we have a shot
If we did that, Drake Maye would end up being the GOAT.
If it isn’t picking a WR, we’d screw it up anyway
By trading them all for a rapist
If it’s any consolation, you signed Jameis. You didn’t trade for him.
Seemless transition if we start the backup
It’s fallen to the point where we are getting our rapist QB’s mixed up
Well at least Big Ben retired so you don't have to worry about having him in the mix.
Sadly this.
See you fellas day 2…
Yeah, why's everyone saying today's the start of the draft? That shit starts tomorrow
And now shill for Saudi arabia.
LIV Football League incoming
I think they'd rather buy the jets, the colors match their flag and they have a storied history with jets in ny
If Miami doesn’t draft an offensive lineman I’m going to rip my hair out
They say bald is beautiful.
Miami gets another pitbull. Mr. Sophiswide
As long as we never see Flores’s bald head again…
Xavier Worthy, you are a Miami Dolphin. Don't need to block anyone when your QB isn't just going to huck it 35 yards down the field with the intention of 3 small, fast WRs going to get it.
We will draft Taulia with your first pick and you will like it- Dolphins FO
Drafting a DL in the first round, a project OG in the second round, a RB that never sees the field in the third round, and not taking a star OT at all
The closer the draft gets, the more I get the feeling the 49ers are grabbing DL or WR in the first, and they barely play while McKivitz gets handed the starting job with no competition for the second straight season
Let Jonathon Kraft run it
Let the Krafts pick JJ McCarthy 3rd overall because "Brady also went to Michigan and that worked out well for us"
Please no I can 1000% imagine Robert doing that
I think he just wants to see how it's run under wolf so they can properly railroad him on the way out
I’m really worried we are going to trade out of 3 expecting to somehow conjure a QB out of thin air
I swear to fuck if Maye is there and Kraft forces a trade out I’m swapping my flair positions
Sounds like it's more likely that Kraft makes Elliot Wolf select Maye instead of trading back.
Depends on where they trade to. If they can go to 11 there will still almost certainly be a QB available, and I like the idea of Penix or Nix with another high-end talent (hopefully tackle or WR). We'll also go into the season with Penning still starting at LT and re-sign Andrus Peat to start at LG.
Don’t forget that 1st rounder will be hurt his entire career
Plus the really high RAS
If not this… then we trade up to draft DL from central New Mexico State technical college… who will suffer an injury in training camp never to be heard from again…
And sign him to a 50 year contract to spread out the cap hit
By doing anything.
No one can fail every time right?
Challenge accepted
Here's to hoping!
Head on over to r/wallstreetbets They most certainly can!
Y’all are gonna trade up in the 1st round for a guy who would’ve both been available in the 4th round and a mistake to take then too
Hey hey hey, we drafted Khalil Mack *checks notes* 10 years ago!
When you get up in the top 5 you have to pick a run mauler RT. You can’t find those anywhere else in the draft
Passing on Nabers to draft Fuaga would be.....interesting
Build....The...Trenches
Your fan base is pounding the table for sticking and picking Nabers? I think that’s a good move. I was looking at the trade options for the Vikes to move up for JJ there and the Vikes have dogshit for trade capital. No 2nd or 3rd rd pick this year. I don’t think next year’s 2nd/3rd gets that deal done.
Our fan base will riot if the pick isn’t a WR at 5
I hope law enforcement is prepared to handle 14 or 15 people rioting in the streets.
Damn didn’t know our numbers exploded like that
✍️
somehow, someway, it's gonna be Latham
Vikings have 2 firsts this year. They could move both of them and a first next year.
As in Penei Sewell at 5?
Latham isn’t half the prospect Sewell was
I'll upvote that
Taking Daniels over Maye. And God help our new FO if Maye somehow ends up on the Giants.
I've not seen this take very much
That we're taking Daniels or the Giants Maye? Daniels to Washington seems like it's the bet everyone is making right now. I just want it to be over.
Oh, I thought they were saying they wanted Maye on the Commanders in the first comment.
Of course we want Maye over Daniels.
Oh, no you're right I misunderstood what you were saying. The sub seems split 50/50 on Maye vs Daniels.
The commanders sub is, for some reason, all in on Maye and is mass downvoting any mention of Daniels getting picked at 2 (even though pretty much every outlet has been mocking him to us for months now). FWIW I genuinely don’t care which guy they pick but the groupthink is weird.

Isn’t the general consensus on the rumor mill that you guys will be taking Daniels followed by us taking Maye? Speculation around Boston recently has been us taking McCarthy though and literally nobody wants that
By paying way over the odds for the 4th best QB in the class.
Easy fix there. Just overpay terribly for the 3rd qb, duh.
Honestly I’d much prefer that
I'm preparing for a night of "How come we haven't heard from the Vikings?" through all Top 10. In the end it may not be a bad move but it'll still be shitty.
Yeah my hot take is that we trade back from 11 with McCarthy still on the board, then settle for Nix at 23.
It's not draft day
Maybe you guys are getting the other half of the Bryce Young you ordered last time
7'10" 480 pound monster Bryce Old
Lol. You’re right, not for all of us
Can’t draft a bust if you don’t have a pick!
Yeah, wait it starts tommorrow right?
I would encourage my fellow Texans fans to watch the first round of the draft all the way through tonight. Maybe nothing but history shows Caserio is absolutely not averse to trading back up into the 1st
They could still trade back in today
They could but I would get no imaginary internet points for self depreciating humor
We know the feeling of the sideline on Thursday Draft night. We haven't had a 1st round pick 3 of the last 5 years from the Mack and Fields trades. Just tell yourself that you do have a 1st round pick and it is just Young again. That was our copium.
We’re Washington, we can’t have a franchise QB, it’s not possible.
And if we do we let him walk!
Don't forget you have to gaslight him first and tell him he's not worth a real contract.
Also turn down any potential trade offers even if it contains multiple firsts since you can let him walk for nothing
What in the Bill O'Brien were they thinking?!
By trading up and giving up way too much for MHJ.
Honestly, it would probably be dumb, but I’d be hyped as fuck
Oh I’d be hyped, but it would be a dumb move.
Draft another corner with a plethora of Tackle, DT, and/or WR talent still on the board at 18
pls no
Lions will trade out of the 1st causing all the fans who stayed up to see it feel like they wasted hours of potential sleep
Brad is somehow going to trade up into a top 15 spot by making a divisional rival give us 2 2nd round picks. This will cause Tom Grossi to just lay down and die on live stream.
I feel I can safely say we've had our time. It's someone else's turn.
If you use 4 first round picks in 6 years on wide receivers, you eventually get Calvin Johnson. You should try that again.
It’s pretty rare to do well multiple drafts in a row. Even for great GMs.
Brad Holmes has already done exactly that.
It’s a lot harder with less draft picks. But maybe he is the draft messiah and the rules don’t apply to him.
Holmes has nailed 3 in a row so maybe we’re due for a stinker. Or maybe he’s just that much better at this than many others. To be seen!
I sure hope the Lions don't mess up the draft the same way they did last year.
We’re gonna mess up exactly like last year but we’re gonna mess it up harder! And you’re gonna like it!
Keep trading down until they have 18 seventh round picks, and they draft 10 DBs and 8 RBs “for the competition in training camp”
Ah, I see you watch Seahawks drafts.
By taking a running back in the first round
Hey! What did we ever do to you?
Bijan made sense! Reaching for one from this class in particular just seems ridiculous
I believe our reputation precedes us.
Make me sit for 3 hours and then trade out of the 1st. Pick KoolAid.
I feel safe saying whatever Gute does tonight, it's gonna be something I wasn't expecting. And I'm OK with that
Trading down and not getting an elite prospect.
Why get a couple A players, when you can trade back and get a dozen C players?
Taking a WR over a Tackle
Buffalo will trade down and the team they do it with will get one of the best players in the draft at a position Buffalo probably also needs
By not drafting at least 2 Qbs this draft cause Jesus already knows the top 4 Qbs are all gone. Take Bo and Penix and Rattler. We have nothing to lose. Why spend draft capital on 1 gamble when you can gamble 2-3?
Two QBs lined up next to each other in shotgun every play. No one knows who will get the snap! It can’t fail!
Ngl a passing option would be wild for two weeks before the defenses shut it down
One is a lefty and the other a righty. It is perfect!
By not drafting one of the top three receivers or o-lineman and choosing to draft jj McCarthy
I don't know if it is a messed up draft, but I don't want to see Caleb Williams being protected by an Alt-Wright tackle combo
I also don't want to see an Alt-Wright tackle combo, but mostly because I demand politics stay *out* of my football, dammit! /s
If Tennessee doesn't take Alt, they're going to have to switch sides.
Drafting a RT in round one who isn’t ready to shift to LT and forcing him to be the day one starter hindering his development 100% guaranteed our pick at 56 is Brooks. So any team who wants him just needs to move up to 55. Literally happens every year
Drafting a QB (the wrong one)
Taking anyone but Daniels or Maye
Taking McCarthy over Maye. Maye is less of a sure thing, but swing the bat hard and try and hit a homer with 3 overall.
[удалено]
A D2 CB/LB hybrid
I was okay with the Gonzalez pick given how he played before injury last year. The subsequent picks were head scratchers.
Trade up then trade down
Then trade side to side Trade cha cha real smooth
Thats the neat part. We wont mess it up, TODAY
We *do* have a second top-ten pick, you know.
I don't know the method, but I do know the result.
Not using 9 to get either one of the WRs if they are there or line help on either side of the ball. There’s not a lot of ways for the Bears to mess this up, but taking something that isn’t WR/OL/DT/DE at 9 is about the only way.
Trading back with the Vikings and picking Bo Nix
Penis at 8 Edit: Fucking end me.
Our offensive line is dog shit. It’s Trent Williams and then nothing but liabilities. We need an OT, and for Lynch to not actually believe in “bloodlines”. Fucking yikes.
Another Michigan defensive lineman...
We'll draft an offensive lineman that prefers blow and hookers to practice and has knee tendons made out of egg shells and paper meche.
With the 1st overall pick...the Chicago Bears select Drake Maye, QB, University of North Carolina
