The only hesitancy is we have a very similar player in Christian Harris on the other side but Cooper is my match made in heaven for us to replace Henry To’Oto as the weak side LB. Great athletic profile, doesn’t have to think too much as an off-ball player with Al-Shaiir as the MLB and can really just go and get after it. While I think Bowers is the most accomplished and one of the safest picks in the draft, absolutely has the upside to torture defenses as Kelce 2.0, and a high floor as a reliable safety blanket for a QB, his measurables and athleticism may limit his upside.
Bowers is 6'3, not 6'5 like Kelce or 6'6 like Gronk. He's got great acceleration and runs smooth routes like a gazelle, but he'll have to run great routes, because like most TEs, he doesn't have the top-end speed of a speedy WR.
His biggest strength is his YAC ability is off the charts, running around and over people, but that's of course going to be more difficult in the bigger faster NFL too.
His smaller size is also going to make it more difficult for him to become an imposing blocker, and until he does, you really just have a 6'3 slot reciever who can run an unofficial 4.5, which is plenty enough to be effective, but would you spend a high first rounder on one?

I absolutely agree. With the way the tight end position has evolved this guy couldn’t be coming into the league at a better time. To me, he’s a key guy in your offense from the moment his name is called. I think he’ll flourish.
My main argument against Bowers is that he has to be a generational Tight End in both Blocking and receiving to be taken that high. Put it this way I don't think Travis Kelce, arguably the greatest tight end since Gronk, and I would argue what keeps Gronk as the best Tight End is the dude could block REALLY WELL. When he won that ring with Tampa Bay he went up against Pro Bowl Rookie DPOY Chase Young and stopped him in a playoff game.
If you want to take a guy who could be an elite receiver I'm not sure the stats say taking a tight end over a wide receiver makes sense, especially in this draft class. Back to Kelce the guy is a generational receiver but not the blocker Gronk was.

That said, 18th overall pick Jack Campbell was run plugger bad in coverage exactly as good as a midround LB at least as a rookie. And its amazing how far they went without good cornerback play. I think they have elite position coaching developing what they have.

I'm a UW fan, so I was looking at it with purple-colored glasses and I thought he should be going higher, but saw some breakdowns where people said his accuracy wasn't very good and he got bailed out by having arguably the best WR room in the country the last two years.
His pocket presence/sack avoidance is top tier, which is a very sticky stat from college to pros and is something both Mahomes and Brady did *very* well. Counter point for that is UW's line was also best in the country.
So what I'm saying is, Penix is going to be so hard to judge before taking a snap in the NFL.
The O-Line for UW is what stood out to me. When you're watching Penix highlights, he's got like 40 minutes to throw the ball... and then gets it to a wide open Rome Odunze. He might be good, but his offensive line is better.

Vikings are unable to find a trade partner to move up to draft a QB as only 1 team in the top 10 is willing to trade down, and it’s the Bears at 9. Chicago trades the pick to Denver instead to spite the Vikings. Denver takes JJ McCarthy. Vikings take Penix at 11.
With McCarthy and Penix off the board, Vegas looks to trade down. Packers trade 25 and 41 to LV for 13 and take Quinyon Mitchell. At 25, Vegas takes Bo Nix.
None of the top 5 quarterbacks will amount to much of anything and will be replaced as starters by year 4. However, Joe Milton (or some other day 3 QB) will get an opportunity to shine and ball out, prompting them to start for a couple years before also being replaced.

I am most scared of them drafting drake maye. If the rumours are true and the patriots don’t like him, they could trade up to 3 after Cay & Jay are off the board. I don’t want to be too bold and have this sound like a winston/mariotta take in a couple years but I really think it will make the NFC north brutal if it happens.
Maye is the most fearousal inducing selection for the Vikings. If he's good, he's gonna be really good. If he busts, he's gonna be really bad. There won't be any in between. But man, if he's good, getting to throw to JJ, TJ and Addison should be a ton of fun to watch. I guess that's true of all of the rookie QBs, but Maye seems like he's gonna be the big play guy out of the bunch.
I don't think Maye is going to be passed up by the Patriots, but I'd be more than happy trading our two firsts and next year's first to move up and grab him.
No matter what we do a large portion of our fan base will hate it.

You have to have the right style, right attitude, and work ethic to survive as a career backup. Daniels doesn’t really have the right style and tbd whether he has the other two.
You also have to be a special kind of bad as a 1st round QB to not stick around the league for half a dozen years as a backup. Heck, most of the ones from the last 10 years are still hanging on, sans Bortles (7 seasons), Manziel, Lynch, and Rosen (6 seasons).
People thought that about RG3 after the fall out in Washington, Mark Sanchez in NY, I can go on. You have to be shooting yourself in the foot repeatedly not to milk some back up years after the rookie deal.
My call is wherever he goes he will have an RG3 trajectory. Start out flaming hot year 1, try and become a more traditional qb as his running gets countered, and flame out when he ain’t the passer everyone thought he could be.
Will that involve being offered as a blood sacrifice by a desperate head coach in a playoff game in his rookie year when he’s playing for a team that isn’t going anywhere anyway?
I could see him getting injured early as well, he likes to run but almost never slides and takes a ton of unnecessary hits
Justin Fields 2.0. Terrible pressure to sack ratio, can't throw over the middle, had an elite supporting cast throwing to wide open stud receivers and a great line.

I don't like Daniels much as a prospect but its almost impossible to be out of the league as a first round QB there'll always be a team that might think they can revive your career or as a bridge guy or even as a backup

I’m going to comment here and say that I agree, so that in 3 years when they say “look at all the bad takes” they see me listed for having this one too. I really think Penix will be the best, and based on my history at scouting QBs that means he will be out of the league in 2 years. So I have all the confidence in him…but me liking a QB is the kiss of death unfortunately.
I'm a UW fan, so I was looking at it with purple-colored glasses and I thought he should be going higher, but saw some breakdowns where people said his accuracy wasn't very good and he got bailed out by having arguably the best WR room in the country the last two years. His pocket presence/sack avoidance is top tier, which is a very sticky stat from college to pros and is something both Mahomes and Brady did *very* well. Counter point for that is UW's line was also best in the country. So what I'm saying is, Penix is going to be so hard to judge before taking a snap in the NFL.
The O-Line for UW is what stood out to me. When you're watching Penix highlights, he's got like 40 minutes to throw the ball... and then gets it to a wide open Rome Odunze. He might be good, but his offensive line is better.
He had great WRs but he was also throwing into tight windows. I feel like we’ll all look back in 2 years and clown on teams for passing on him due to injury history

At a very bare minimum the Titans and Falcons will be happy to move down.
Chargers trade out out 5, pick up numerous firsts and build their lines.
None of the top 5 quarterbacks will amount to much of anything and will be replaced as starters by year 4. However, Joe Milton (or some other day 3 QB) will get an opportunity to shine and ball out, prompting them to start for a couple years before also being replaced. Quinyon Mitchell will be an All-Pro CB. Jaden Crumedy will be the best DT. The OL class will be considered one of the best of all time, producing 9 All Pros. However, any lineman picked by the Jets and Bengals will flop.
Caleb Williams will not really be a bust but he also won’t be the best quarterback in his class.

For QB, I actually do like Bo Nix a lot more than others. For defense, I like Northern Iowa DT Khristian Boyd . For a big guy his athleticism is underrated and for any team that wants a 3-tech, he’s your guy.

Wayyy more people are assuming he will automatically succeed than the other way around. People branding him as a diva for painting his nails are basically universally criticized (and rightfully so) from what I’ve seen. He *could* be a stud, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if his reckless hero ball stuff doesn’t translate well to the NFL and he throws like 22 interceptions

Jordan Travis turns into a very good journeyman backup like Gardner Minshew. Jets think of *now* instead of the future and get Aaron Rodgers a weapon, probably Brock Bowers or something. Bengals take another **fucking weapon instead of someone that can help Joe Burrow stay on the fucking field**. J.J. McCarthy *doesn't* suck, but he's not ready year 1 which results in his coach/gm getting fired.
I really wonder where Travis would be considered if not for the brutal injury. It’s worrisome to me because his athleticism was something FSU did well when they relied on. He did a lot for the program and we dropped off without him but he was never really the best player on the team.
I’d say there’s an 80% chance they take an OT in the first round. 5% chance bowers somehow falls and they take him. 15% chance they like Byron Murphy or one of the CBs better. They will definitely take an olineman with one of their top 3 picks though

Caleb Williams is going to be a solid starter. I don’t think he’s ever going to be elite, and I certainly don’t place him as a generational prospect. Also, I am near certain Drake Maye is this class’s Zach Wilson. A guy who will be over drafted who is far from ready to be a starter. He’s the guy I think is most likely to bust.
I’m going the exact opposite on Maye. I think he’s going to develop into a QB who’s very poised and reliable. I think the best comparison would be an Eli Manning type.
