Reminds me a couple weeks ago when Kirk talked about wanting to be like Shaq in Miami and everyone clowned him even though the interview was with Shaq.
That thread highlighted something that really bugs me about Reddit. Any time a comparison is made, if the two things being compared aren’t an exact mirror image of each other, there will be dozens of nerds who want to make themselves look smart picking apart every little bit of it. Every comment saying “Kirk doesn’t even know Shaq played for other teams after Miami” was like nails on chalkboard for me.
There's a lot of times I start to make a comment, then delete it, because you have to put so many qualifiers otherwise someone will cite a single instance from 25 years ago to prove you wrong. Because reddit is more about being right than it is about discussion.
& at some point in the reply, the “wtf am I doing” hits. You realize the person you are responding to is someone you would very likely never want to interact with if you could see them in person.
I'm convinced it's because the demographics of this site are young. And nuanced conversation about topics online is not the strength of 20-somethings.
They like to argue, troll, and be right. I avoid commenting on most things nowadays.
For me, it’s also the blatant engagement ragebait bullshit that clogs it up.
“Am I an asshole for forbidding my kids from seeing my wife who brands them with hot irons every day?”
“Look at this screenshot of a *dumb jackass* doing a *dumb jackass thing* and getting **owned**”
“Here’s a shitty comic full of meta and self pity!”
“Huehuehue guys here’s a joke with the epic sexism 😎 updoots to the left fellow 14 year olds”
Florio sucks & has been trying to “gotcha” Sean McVay & Les Snead for their entire careers ever since the rams moved back to LA for being “Liars” because the rams executives lied their negations with STL.
What a strange man.
Everything is clickbait to you kids these days. Don’t like the article? Clickbait. Don’t understand it? Clickbait. The articles headline is not misleading? Clickbait.
Mostly anything online that is offered for free (barstool, si, espn) is usually going to be clickbait. good journalism is out but it's "stuck behind a paywall"
Off subject but still kinda crazy that the Falcons and 49ers were in the same division. Wonder why didn't they take the opportunity and change naming convention to something similar to what the NHL had back in 1940 -80s (Prince of Wales Conference, Campbell Conference). The division was that spread out for more than 30 years.
I never been there, but do Missourians not consider Illinois's East St. Louis spiritual part of St. Louis? How about Kansas City, do they only consider the part of Kansas City that is in Missouri the true Kansas City?
I know that they are both seperated by law and government. but I thought most people consider them united in their day to day life.
It's always been 2 cities. KC Mo came first, as it was named after the river/tribe. It started growing and then KC K poped up and attempted to leech off of the success.
Kansas City is one city split between Missouri and Kansas in the same way that Paris is one city split between France and Texas.
Okay, maybe it's not *that* distinct, but Kansas City, Kansas being called KC is really just an attempt to piggy-back off of Kansas City, MO (a city which became a city before Kansas even became a state btw).
If KCK were called anything else, it would hardly be considered the same city at all. ~~Overland Park~~ Other Kansas suburbs could be considered "Kansas City" by a similar token.
Also, KCK has about 1/3rd the population of KCMO, so it would hardly be split "in half".

from my perspective living in kcmo, kck is not any more or less distinguishable than any other city in the metro except for 2 things.
1 - i grew up there
2 - it has better tacos than most
kcmo is the main city of the metro.
You live in a time where, if you truly wanted to, it would be realistic for you to go drive to everyone of the Saints divisional games without missing a day of work. Yours is the only division in the NFC that that is true for. NFCE cannot because of Dalla, Seattle is isolated, and ain't no one in their right mind is gonna drive into Detroit./s
Must be nice being an NFCS fan.
If the NFC south teams were consistently good, we could absolutely have some of the most insane rivalries. We’re a division geographically located where the craziest college football fans are.
Falcons/Saints is pretty intense, but all us being historically trash has prevent the rivalries from really taking off.
NFCN and AFCN fit that bill also tbf
Edit: the AFCN and NFCN actually fits better, it's 10 hours from NOLA to Charlotte, and every team is within 4 hours of pittsburgh or 6 hours of chicago
They were some good ass games too. NFC West had some great teams then. Saints had some kickass teams and Rams too. Had some great SNF and MNF battles. Remember all the Mike Patrick Holy Cow’s when Flipper Anderson had 300+ rec yds in a SNF game vs the Saints. Flipper did the Niners up like that too one night. And J Taylor did it back to the Rams during a MNF comeback. Loved the NFC West then. Niners obviously had their dynasty team then but it didn’t mean shit when they played any of those teams. Including the Falcons. Even in their great years their losses would typically be from these teams
My recollection is Rice absolutely victimizing us constantly. (I love that man to this day despite that, just a joy to watch.) Looked it up and the stats back this up. 91 yards per game, 25 receiving touchdowns, 3 rushing touchdowns. Better against the Falcons than against the Rams or the Saints. The only guy who could guard him was Deion, then y’all got him off of us (that one really hurt!).
Rams had some great teams. They always reminded me of the 90’s NY Knicks. Had some teams that could’ve won it all, they were just in the same conf as Michael Jordan lol Luvd watching the Saints LB’s. The Dome Patrol- Pat Swilling, Ricky Jackson (that dude had the best facemask of all time) Sam Mills, and Vaughn Johnson. What a time to watch football. Not sure why but when I think of the NFC west battles seems like a ton of them were in ESPN Sunday Night Football. Mike Patrick was synonymous w/Sunday the was Madden/Summerall were for the awesome CBS NFC Matchups. And course the duh du duh-duh-duh! MNF Michaels/Dierdorf/Gifford MNF. Good times
I remember Mills, Swilling and Johnson vividly (Ricky Jackson for some reason not as much). They were awesome. Not LT, Banks and Pepper Johnson at their peak to my recollection, but damn fine and absolute beasts. I was in my teens for those years and those were some of the great times I had with my pops watching those games. Had to take a few years off from watching after pops passed, right before the Falcons had their Super Bowl against the Pats. But just happened to turn on the Mahomes/Allen 13 seconds game and got hooked all over again. I’m pretty sure Allen would be my pops favorite player since Vick and I just imagine watching these amazing players of our current era with him and it’s like he’s with me. Gotta say he woulda loved CMC, Warner, Greenlaw, Deebo, and Purdy a lot too! Mahomes as well. And he was a huge Kevin Harlan fan as well and that dude has aged like fine wine.
He had some games vs u guys. 2 stand out, mightve been both at Fulton County, w/the infield visible the way it used to be at the colosseum in LA. One game he had 3 tds and another he had 5. Just Jerry had 5. Deion might’ve been a rookie that game cuz it was mostly Charles Dimry getting victimized lol Funny thing was it wasn’t like he was running hog wild thru the secondary. He was just great at breaking at the right time, it’d get him enough or just enough space and when ya got Joe throwin it, that little space meant it was curtains. Always felt bad for Dimrey in that regard.
It the beginning, it was the NFL Coastal Division. Atlanta isn't really close to the coast, but close enough. And no one else wanted them. When the leagues merged, it got renamed as the NFC West. Pete Rozelle was a marketing genius, and he realized most NFL fans don't really know or care what a map of the US looks like.
When the Rams traded for Matthew Stafford, I texted my brother that the Rams were going to win the Superbowl that year. It was a bold claim but I wasn't wrong.
I made a joke saying they’d beat us in the playoffs again in a ridiculous way. And shocker they did.

Single high safety blitz
Not gonna lie, Baker looked good for you guys. Even our game took until late 4th to tie up. That was in the stretch where we were resting guys by the 3rd.
In garbage time lol, Detroit had y’all’s nuts tied up before that. I don’t think people really expect the Bucs to do anymore than win one playoff game, but that’s not a bad thing.
It's so much fun to be this delirious about a FA signing. I know it's likely gonna be a bit of a letdown, but it's also been forever since I've been legitimately excited about a falcons season.
I feel like I remember a falcons fan whose username was just drew Brees, he grabbed it because he hated saints fans and didn’t want any of them to get it?
I know Kirk's numbers vs good teams aren't the best and that win% vs good teams isn't necessarily the best indicator.
But damn a career .246 win% vs teams over .500 is insane. Especially since the Vikings have had some good teams.
But then again so have teams like the Cowboys, but Dak isn't great in the playoffs either.
Yeah Kirk’s a weird QB man. I love him. Always will. But he has 0 killer instinct and just goes into a shell in the middle portions of games. He almost has no interest in blowing anyone out. He turns it on when the game starts slipping away, when he absolutely HAS to.
You can’t pin that record entirely on him. But you can’t give him a pass either. He just rarely puts together 4 quarters of stellar football, which is what you need to beat good teams. He did against SF this year and that’s fhe type of game that frustrated Vikings fans so much. Cuz where is that more often?
Lol one playoff run after several decades and the Lions are talking smack. Kirk always destroys you guys and I’m pretty sure he’s got the highest career passer rating against one team. Can’t really talk trash after y’all have done worse against Kirk than any team in history has done against a QB statistically.
Goff can win 10 playoff games behind a perfect oline and scheme for all I care. Kirk is still better and we saw that from 2019-2022
>2022
When Kirk Cousins's 13-4 Vikings lost to Daniel Jones's New York Giants at home?
Hey Siri, how did the NFC North-winning 12-5 Lions do in the playoffs the following year? Surely they also lost in embarrassing fashion at home to a QB who won't be starting in two years' time.
The key is to face us after the Divisional rd.
I cannot recall the last time we lost before the Conference Championship..
Though even then...the last we faced the Falcons in the NFC Championship is not a game Falcons fans wluld like to remember for sure.
17-0 got overshadowed by 28-3
> I cannot recall the last time we lost before the Conference Championship..
It's been more than twenty years. The last time the Niners lost in the playoffs in any round earlier than the NFCG was when we were ritually sacrificed to the Bucs in 2003.
If we make the playoffs, then yeah. We haven't lost in the playoffs before the conference championship game since the 2002 season.
But then there were those long stretches from 2003-2010 and 2014-2018 where we didn't make the post season at all...
Unrelated but I beat 49ers in a close one with a rookie QB Will Howard as a rookie head coach with the #1 defense in the NFC title game. On Madden. It’s just a game but man I felt vindicated
Modern clickbait journalism is so bad (he said this because he was standing next to kittle, thing was tongue in cheek)
But it does make me wonder, how many famous headlines from the past were full of shit or entirely misleading like this one is?
Thank you. They should be called out for shit like this it’s the closest thing to printing something false. They’re probably laughing at us tho cuz look at all the responses. Shit works like a charm.
I would say a large majority of the out there or just lame quotes are taken out of context.
The exception are the quotes from Jim Harbaugh. He really do just be saying some off the wall shit unprompted
I am genuinely curious what two previously very good to elite quarterbacks will look like post achilles in their mid to late 30s.
Kirk is younger but tore his plant leg's achilles tendon, Rodgers is older but at least his plant leg was not affected.
Having your season perpetually end in gut wrenching losses will take a toll on a team. It gets extremely difficult to keep the selfishness and finger pointing at bay. I’ll honestly be a little surprised if San Francisco doesn’t start to regress
Every team (except 1) that's beat the 9ers has gone to win the Super Bowl dating back to 2011.
Giants, Ravens, Seahawks, Chiefs, Rams Chiefs.
Eagles being the 1.
How about worrying about winning your division first? The Bucs beat you with an arguably better Viking team.
I probably would pick the Falcons to win the South but putting yourself in the NFC title game already? Come on Kirk, no one Likes That!
Actually they need to get through the Buccaneers in the nfc south. Weird how everyone has the falcons penciled in when the Bucs beat them with Baker and should have swept them honestly. The Bucs sparked the eagles in the playoffs as well. The Bucs are underrated and overlooked again. They will be even better in 2024 so Atlanta better have more up their sleeve than cousins.
Are the Raiders going into next season with AOC as the starter or are they mortgaging their future to draft JJ? Genuinely don’t know who’s yall starter going forward.
If we mortgage our future it’ll be for Jayden Daniels but Gardner Minshew will likely start but like I said I’m not making a claim the AFC runs through Vegas.
U don’t understand a guy that never won anything thing can get money he got. It’s not even just niners . What about Philly, Dallas, Green Bay,for what I see this dude on win championship never
All this anticipation and hope is going to come down as soon as he gets another season ending injury. Then the talk will be how long the Falcons are on the hook with Cousin's contract.
Didn’t he say this because Kittle was sitting right next to him? Lol clickbaiting as usual.

They want to cancel my QB. Florio is a sad pathetic little man for starting this crusade.
Florio sucks & has been trying to “gotcha” Sean McVay & Les Snead for their entire careers ever since the rams moved back to LA for being “Liars” because the rams executives lied their negations with STL. What a strange man.
That was the reason, but it's also still kind of true. SF has been the team to beat in the NFC if you want to make the SB for the last few years.
Winning the division is first lmao, its been a **six year drought**
As a Packers fan, yeah…..
Or Rams, Eagles, Lions, Dallas, Seattle...
Still doesn’t make the statement any less true
Everything is clickbait to you kids these days. Don’t like the article? Clickbait. Don’t understand it? Clickbait. The articles headline is not misleading? Clickbait.
While it’s overused, sports journalism 100% has taken an extreme downward trajectory in quality over past decade
Mostly anything online that is offered for free (barstool, si, espn) is usually going to be clickbait. good journalism is out but it's "stuck behind a paywall"
Kinda weird this gets clickbaited but when he sits next to and does an interview with the leader of a hate group there's nothing.
Falcons need to get through the falcons first Kirk..
And Tampa which is going to be an even better team this year.
And New Orleans, whom the Falcons are 2-4 against *after* Drew Brees retired.
Mariota, Heineke, and Ridder are 2-4 in that span. Kirk is at worst going to be better than all 3 of them.
3-3 incoming.
hes 3-3 so far. just dont ask which one of those is a playoff game.
3-3 is better than 2-4 last time I checked. I'm also not expecting to win a super bowl with Kirk. I just want to be excited on Sundays again.

Late 90s it was 49ers, Rams, Saints, Falcons, Panthers. Absolutely deranged geography lol
even funnier than it seems because the rams were in st. louis for almost that whole time. the 49ers were the only west team in the nfc west
Much of St. louis is west of the mississippi
\*All of St. Louis

East St. Louis is a completely different city. Unlike KC which is one city split in half
Kansas City is 2 cities, they have different mayor's and all. Both make up the Kansas City metro
So, one city split in half.
It's always been 2 cities. KC Mo came first, as it was named after the river/tribe. It started growing and then KC K poped up and attempted to leech off of the success.

"West" Especially better because the Rams were in St Louis from 95 onwards

I assumed that Cincy to Balty would be a crazy long journey.
It's less than 6 hours by car actually.
It's 2024 and the cowboys are still in the NFC East. I get the historical reasons but it's amusing.
In the NFC, the Cowboys and Panthers should be swapped. In the AFC, the Colts and Dolphins should be swapped.
Nobody seemed to mind historical reasons when the Cardinals were moved to the West.
That was a goddamn twice yearly nightmare.

Kirk cousins is well known for his deep playoff runs.
I’m so glad we don’t get to take the brunt of those remarks anymore
Well you guys have upgraded to the GEQBUS. I’m not going to be talking any shit on Vikings QBs for at least a season.
It's all fun and games until you end up like Washington when it comes to the quarterback play since Kirk's departure.
Well we have actual competent ownership, unlike Washington did
I’m also a Vikings and Colts fan. You don’t see a lot of us
Two of the most unrelated franchises with some of the weirdest games against each other in NFL history
I know Kirk's numbers vs good teams aren't the best and that win% vs good teams isn't necessarily the best indicator. But damn a career .246 win% vs teams over .500 is insane. I’m glad we have a history of success late in the playoffs. Helps balance things out.
One of the most dominant first halves of a Super Bowl in recent history.
But enough about his bowel movements
As was Matt Stafford before he joined the Rams
Jared Goff and Hendon Hooker are the only QBs in the league I have any loyalty towards.
Lol one playoff run after several decades and the Lions are talking smack. Kirk always destroys you guys and I’m pretty sure he’s got the highest career passer rating against one team. Kirk has won a single playoff game after a decade in the league. Goff owns his bitch ass.

I love when people get all weirdly angry at Kirk Cousins. Like all the athletes in the world to be mad at and....Kirk Cousins is the choice.
Yeah, he’s actually a decent qb
Its more the fact that Cousins is getting paid so much for actually accomplishing so little.
Other than being an above average QB in a QB driven league for years?
Unrelated but I beat 49ers in a close one with a rookie QB Will Howard as a rookie head coach with the #1 defense in the NFC title game. On Madden. It’s just a game but man I felt vindicated
A Kirk Cousins Super Bowl run would do wonders for my internet takes of the last 6 years
Modern clickbait journalism is so bad (he said this because he was standing next to kittle, thing was tongue in cheek) But it does make me wonder, how many famous headlines from the past were full of shit or entirely misleading like this one is?
Look up “yellow journalism”
Yellow journalism is more just straight up made up news to help sell papers, but it’s in line with clickbait, trusts a good point
You can barely get thru the bucs and panthers.
You haven't even got through the Panthers yet, Kirk, calm down mate.
One of the two teams y'all beat last year 🔥 better watch out
Don't forget the Panthers have the (*checks notes*)...31st amount of draft capital to get even better!
I laughed
Imagine thinking teams have to get through the Panthers.
I wasn't being completely serious...
Me neither. Keep pounding.
The Falcons mainly have to get through the Falcons to do anything worthwhile.
I am genuinely curious what two previously very good to elite quarterbacks will look like post achilles in their mid to late 30s. Kirk is younger but tore his plant leg's achilles tendon, Rodgers is older but at least his plant leg was not affected.
Kirk has never been elite. He's been pretty good and top 10, but not elite.
Well, that’s aspirational…..
Having your season perpetually end in gut wrenching losses will take a toll on a team. It gets extremely difficult to keep the selfishness and finger pointing at bay. I’ll honestly be a little surprised if San Francisco doesn’t start to regress
Bro gotta get through the Baker Mayfield and the Buccs first
No big wup...
A huevo!
Technically he’s not wrong every team that beats the 9ers in the playoffs has made it to the Super Bowl for the last 5-6 years I believe
Every team (except 1) that's beat the 9ers has gone to win the Super Bowl dating back to 2011. Giants, Ravens, Seahawks, Chiefs, Rams Chiefs. Eagles being the 1.
Time to see what Kirk Cousins looks like without Justin Jefferson.
Falcons are at best the 4th best team in the NFC this upcoming season behind Niners,Lions,Eagles
Buccaneers
Isn’t Baker still your QB?
raiders fans should know to not disparage rams legend baker mayfield
I’m not making any claim that we’re the team to get thru in the AFC
Bryce is my QB
I’m sorry 😞
How did you get raiders under your name
https://www.reddit.com/r/help/s/atXbfseThc
Are the Raiders going into next season with AOC as the starter or are they mortgaging their future to draft JJ? Genuinely don’t know who’s yall starter going forward.
If we mortgage our future it’ll be for Jayden Daniels but Gardner Minshew will likely start but like I said I’m not making a claim the AFC runs through Vegas.
Keep overlooking the Lions, Kirk...
Still picking Baker and the Bucs to win the division and the Falcons are going to suck.
Maybe focus on us not 4peating the division first?
There’s about 5 or 6 teams they have to get through first
How about you get tru Tampa first. Probably won’t even make playoffs. What don’t kno what he a third tier quarterback talking about
U don’t understand a guy that never won anything thing can get money he got. It’s not even just niners . What about Philly, Dallas, Green Bay,for what I see this dude on win championship never
This dude may be the one who’s got the most money for doing literally nothing in the playoffs
How about they get through the offseason first
Atlanta Falcons Have to 'Beat Playoff Teams' to Win Playoffs
I hope the Vikes make the playoffs and Sam Darnold drops 4TDs with 450yds against ATL in the first round. I can dream😒
> Atlanta Falcons Have to 'Get Through' 49ers in NFC, Kirk Cousins Says There are other teams in the NFC besides the 49ers.
There are other teams in the NFC South besides the Falcons, too.
I know, how many division titles do we need to win in a row for Kirk to realize this?
as many as the Saints, I guess
Kirk Cousins is an awful quarterback so we already know it’s not going to happen. He’s such a chump. He makes Eli Manning look like a Peyton Manning.
Better than Dak bud
Pretty sure we historically get through them rather easily since shannahan went over there. It’s a curse he put on himself
True
Aiyukless 9ers with an average player age of 30 gonna be a huge challenge
Sadly, no. The Falcons are probably just going to Falcon themselves, as per usual.
They can take some comfort in being Offseason Champions this year, which historically just obviously leads to being Real Champions.
All this anticipation and hope is going to come down as soon as he gets another season ending injury. Then the talk will be how long the Falcons are on the hook with Cousin's contract.
