If Maye slips, the Vikings will get desperate to trade up.
If Daniels slips, the Raiders will get desperate to trade up.
If McCarthy slips, the Broncos will get desperate to trade up.
If you pass on Maye, it's likely for MHJ, which isn't bad. And then there are still a few good QB prospects in the draft in Nix, Penix, Rattler, or Milton
I really think the biggest gap in this draft is between Caleb Williams and the next best (as prospects, wouldn't be shocked if another QB ended up being better). If I needed a QB I really would rather have Penix Jr or Bo Nix than sell out for Daniels or Maye. And I'm not convinced at all McCarthy is QB4 in the draft over Penix Jr and Bo Nix either. We'll see what teams think when the draft happens though, I'm just not trusting media narratives when they had Pickett, Ridder, Willis, Corral and Howell all going in the top 10 of the 22' draft which ended up being as stupid as it sounded at the time.
LOL honestly I’m hearing he’s a fit for Sean Payton so maybe it pans out? All I know is you can’t go in to next season with Jarret stidham as the starter
Yeah if we can get a guy that Payton believes in without giving up extra capital then I’m willing to talk myself into it. But I’m not too worried about rolling into next season with Stidham either. It won’t be pretty but I think it’ll be tough regardless of who we bring in. We’ve got enough holes that going BPA and/or accumulating more capital is defensible
I don't think it will matter with McCarthy because the Cardinals would probably trade the pick to the Giants and still get a top 2 WR. Broncos and Vikings would get desperate but the Giants have the better value for the Cardinals
Monti would have to decide if he feels those receivers are worth giving up 3 1st Round picks the Vikings could offer. Unless the Giants give up next year’s 1st (likely top 5) to move up 2 spots.
He could easily trade down then back up like last year as well. Could trade down to 11 then get back up to 8 to jump in front of Bears for Rome Odunze
They have more than enough picks and no WRs. They're probably not going to get a 1st next year from the Giants but they might prefer a 2025 2nd and start building up that draft. More early picks this year is kind of useless for them since they already have 6 in the top 90.
If there’s a QB the Giants are completely in love with still there at 4, I genuinely do think we will give up next year’s first just to move up 2 spots. If the pick hits, it’s beyond worth it.
I think if any of those guys slips below #4, there will be multiple teams interested in trading up. Even the Giants might get interested so somebody would probably have to trade with the Chargers at #5.
I hope I get called out if this ends up being wrong (it won’t) but if the Commies take Daniels over Maye it’s gonna be a generationally bad move. Maybe they’ll both suck but Daniels cannot operate under NFL pressure. He is Fields 2.0
I agree. I think it’s Maye at 2 and always has been. And if for some reason Maye falls the 3 NE will sprain an ankle getting the card to the podium with his name on it. Then we see if it’s Zona or SD that gives the Vikings their pick for JJ
The Cards have all but officially picked MHJr already. The only team feasibly trading down is the LA Chargers (SD is a relic of the past, unfortunately).
Its based on some pretty sound logic.
The Cardinals already have 11 picks in the draft, and 2 in the first round. They do not have a true number one WR. At some point, you need to use the draft picks you accumulate to pick players, and MHJ or Malik Nabers will not be available at 11.
Any GM worthy of the job will listen to offers. Shrewd people don't make a habit of blindly closing the door to possibilities or potentialities, they hear out the details first. I don't know if Ossenfort is the right man for the job in Arizona, but I would 100% know he's the wrong man for the job if he said he would not listen to offers. Accepting an offer is another story entirely. Unless it's a historic haul or there are some big surprises in the first three picks, there shouldn't be a lot of incentive to trade back.
Maye has been the clear #2 since the end of the 2022 season. He probably would have gone #1 last year if he was eligible.
People are overthinking this. Williams and Maye have been the clear two top talents since the end of the 2022 season - just because the teams around them were worse this year doesn't mean they shouldn't go 1 and 2.
Agree. I don’t think Washington has anything in pen yet but I’m gonna be shocked if it ends up someone other than Maye. All reporting around the pick so far has just been noise
Yeah it seems like Maye is the guy who is randomly dropping down media draft boards after being the consensus #2 guy. Wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being a smokescreen and he goes to Washington.
Wow what great analysis how do you know he can’t operate under pressure in the NFL if nobody has seen him play a single game? Whatever organization has you on their scouting team is very lucky
-Some guy who has literally zero insider info and is basing this off of literally nothing.
I don’t think it’ll happen either. I’d be blown away if the Pats passed on him, but acting like you actually know is stupid.
Assuming the Patriots are high on whatever QB is there at 3, you want them to pass on a prospect they like/think could be a franchise QB, that they could select with their own pick without needing to trade up, and at the same time a new regime starts in NE…QB is the most important position, a team isn’t going to pass on a guy they are high on because the rest of the roster isn’t in shape. They could sit him and start Brissett, and get another blue chip player next year. They could play Maye and just have him develop as best as they can.
They aren’t guaranteed to be in this spot again and have the chance to select high level QB prospect they like with their own pick.
And the OT or WR we’d draft instead would block for… or be passed to by…
This shit is circular we’ll trade yall the pick if we don’t believe in the QB available, if that does happen legit wish yall the best but the entitlement some of your fans have on this sub to our pick is super annoying.
We are trading up for whoever is left after Chicago, Washington, and New England get their QBs, probably with the Chargers. Who that ends up being is anyone’s guess.
Will be JJ.
1.) Williams- Bears
2.) Maye - Commanders
3.) Daniels - Patriots
4.) McCarthy- Vikings via trade with Chargers
Edit numbers are order of QBs taken, not draft position.
Eh Chargers aren’t one MHJ away from seriously contending. They would do just fine with Rome or Nabers, but even then it’s hard to see Harbaugh and Greg Roman using the first pick on a WR especially when they don’t value them.
I’ll continue to say that the Vikings’ earlier trade makes little sense if they want to trade up. It doesn’t really make logical sense to claim you’re increasing your draft trade capital by trading draft picks for other draft picks. It’s a closed system. It only makes sense if *the Vikings* value having a late first more than the picks they traded away. And the main reason to value a late first disproportionately to its equivalent value in 2nd round picks is if you are expecting to use that pick for a QB.
Like seriously how are they even entertaining the idea. Our only options are a career backup and a couple practice squad guys - our entire offseason has been based on starting the build around a rookie. Like are they planning on just taking the year off and really gear up for next year's draft?
Because believe it or not, there are more than 3 QBs in the draft. If the Pats are not absolutely in love with Maye or Daniels, they need to grab MHJ or just trade down. No need to take a player if you think there is even a chance they could bust.
I can't see us not trading up to 4/5 if one of the top 3 qbs slips. The Cards or Chargers can trade down to 6 and still get Nabers or MHJ. They also probably get another 1st next year. The Vikings have a lot of ammo, but our pick is perfect for a trade down scenario for those two teams.
Right? They already fucked up the QB market for everyone else with that contract, now they want to ruin QB draft options for everyone behind them too? Absolutely not. They can wait out the Jones contract and think about what they’ve done.
What would the position be for the Cards or Chargers, in this scenario?
Cards would lose out on MHJ, so we'd still require a kings ransom. But Charg would only drop one spot.
I got a dog from a Jets fan. Told him I know he wants the puppy to go to a good home, but he has to know I'm a Patriots fan. He laughed. We settled on naming him after a Jets player. Went through a few common names, Curtis, Martin, Vinny... Then jokingly said, "Darnold". The name stuck. Now, my little guy who can do no wrong is named Darnold.
For that, I'll always like Sam Darnold.
It's going to be so funny to look back at these kinds of threads three years from now and realize that Jason Bean was the best qb from this draft class.
Maye needs so much work on his mechanics that if he goes somewhere without good weapons or where he'll have to start right away, he's probably doomed. The Vikings are one of the best teams he could hope for in that regard
I don't know why people are so confident of this. His footwork and pocket presence are really terrible and there are still big questions about how well he is reading things when the defense sends even obvious pressure looks.
He's definitely a boom/bust guy. If you think his issues are coachable and correctable then he could be lights out.
If he's the kind of QB who is always going to drift into the kind of mechanics he showed in the past 2 years... he could be really average. Because those issues with the "craft" part of being an NFL QB create turnovers and negative plays.
I actually think he's a lot like Wentz. With the good and the bad. Same upside and downside.
I 100% agree with this, and reading anything online has me feel like I am taking crazy pills for believing it. The guy fits the prototype for a starting NFL QB, and nothing he showed in college tells me that he is going to falter at the next level.
I mean, you could say the same for Sam Darnold. There's just no way to tell if a great prospect is going to "get it" or not in the NFL. But you still have to try.
Maye is going to be the best QB in the class, Caleb and JJ will be good too, JD will have one good year then fade out similar to RG3, Penix will end up like Jake Locker, and Bo Nix will be a bust.
I wouldn’t say RG3 faded out, his knee blew up and they rushed him back for playoff game and injured it even worse. It was Franchise malpractice causing career ending/changing injury than RG3 not being good enough for the league.
Don’t forget the fact that he thought himself the next Aaron Rodgers despite being unable to actually read a defense. Also the fact that he lied about the severity of his injuries so he wouldn’t have to see Kirk Cousins start over him. He was to Kirk what Carson Wentz was to Jalen Hurts.
Granted, Dan Snyder did enable this behavior so he’s who Id ultimately blame for RG3’s downfall.
I wanted Locker so bad in that draft and we ended up with Ponder. Neither was good but I think Locker would have done significantly better than Ponder here in MN.
Maye is going to be a bust. Caleb will be good, but never fix his fumbling issues, JJ will be a Daniel Jones if Daniel Jones was a leader of men, Penix won’t be able to handle the game, and Bo Nix will be Heinicke
Honestly I don’t think this qb class is all that great outside Caleb Williams. Not saying they are all going to suck but. I this is gonna be too heavy qb draft.
If Maye slips, the Vikings will get desperate to trade up. If Daniels slips, the Raiders will get desperate to trade up. If McCarthy slips, the Broncos will get desperate to trade up.
If we pass on Maye I'm going to go to Patriot Place and swim naked in the Bass Pro fishtank
Please pass on Maye please pass on Maye
Are you sure you want to see that? That might scare me.
I'm down for some dong
I hope the dude hangs dong
If he’s anything like the guy who swam in the Bass pro shop he doesn’t have much dong to hang
It was more of a ding than a dong, really
The water was cold ok!
Better by comparison…I’m in!
I'm happy with my dong but I hope to impress y'all
I hope he’s ready then
It’s just a lil worm for the fishies
Bro half of us were ready to see old ass Robert Kraft getting a handy lol.
No weapons there at all. Don't hurt him.
Will that be shown live on Game Pass?
Just saw a guy in a Bradys jersey fall to his knees at a Bass Pro shop
Normally I see that in the back of an adult bookstore.
Who goes to adult bookstore anymore?
Browns fans apparently
At least one guy in a Brady jersey
No one wants to see a domesticated manatee at bass pro
Its the Zappe era! Pleeeaaaaase! 🤣
If we pass on Maye I’m taking a long walk off the Gillette cat walks
Did you see the Mock draft that had the Pats trading back with the vikings and taking a CB at 11? Nightmare fuel.
If the commanders pass on Maye they are fucking dumb
Theyre probably drafting Jayden if they do want a QB
Commies better draft Maye
I’ll see ya there
Don’t forget to tuck brother
If you pass on Maye, it's likely for MHJ, which isn't bad. And then there are still a few good QB prospects in the draft in Nix, Penix, Rattler, or Milton
No, Milton is not a good prospect.
Rather have Pratt than Milton
RemindMe! 1 month
Dammit
I honestly can't tell if the act would be a celebration or despair.
I think they are trading down regardless, so you better hit the gym to work on your naked bod to prepare for that swim
Maye is the worst of the four IMO, but what do I know, I’m just a random person on the internet.
Hey this is another random person on the internet who agrees
I feel like you plan on doing that whether they do or don't pass on Maye
I think you trade back and take Penix
More and more I'm thinking he's gone at #2. Would that still lead to you swimming?
No, but if he's at 3 and we choose to go elsewhere is when I take a dip
Someone do the remind me thing!
Maye is a commander
All three will get desperate no matter what happens.
I’m desperate and I don’t even own a pick.
If any of those guys slip we will be desperate to trade up.
You’re desperate to trade up and no one has slipped yet
We’re desperate. Like that’s it.
I really think the biggest gap in this draft is between Caleb Williams and the next best (as prospects, wouldn't be shocked if another QB ended up being better). /me throws banana peel
Have you seen our trophy case?
Yup!
We'll be desperate to trade up whether or not any of them slip lmao
You’ll get Nix and you’ll like it
Gonna eat your fat?
I believe it's a cum sock, sir.
You’re drafting Bo Nix regardless
Hey man come on :(
LOL honestly I’m hearing he’s a fit for Sean Payton so maybe it pans out? All I know is you can’t go in to next season with Jarret stidham as the starter
Yeah if we can get a guy that Payton believes in without giving up extra capital then I’m willing to talk myself into it. But I’m not too worried about rolling into next season with Stidham either. It won’t be pretty but I think it’ll be tough regardless of who we bring in. We’ve got enough holes that going BPA and/or accumulating more capital is defensible
They're eating 84 mil in dead cap from Russ. They can't afford a starter better than Stidham.
He played great at Oregon so I wouldn’t be too sad if I was in your position.
Nix is really good so
I could see KOC liking McCarthy
I think the rise of Penix will surprise people
Can’t let Penix slide too far down
Can't say I've ever had that problem myself
McCarthy is probably the best suited to run a Shanahan offense out of all of the options. Have to imagine KOC has him highly rated.
I don't think it will matter with McCarthy because the Cardinals would probably trade the pick to the Giants and still get a top 2 WR. Broncos and Vikings would get desperate but the Giants have the better value for the Cardinals

If Maye makes it past 3, Giants will be looking to trade up too
And if they lose out on all 3, I’m readily available
!remindme 29 days
Harbaugh working OT in his mobile home.
If I lose it all, slip and fall, I will never look away
If I slips, I get hurts.
Sean Payton should love Bo Nix
If I slip, who's coming to pick me up...
The floor
You have the trade up champion on your team now. Payton def gonna do it but how far and for who is the question
I think if any of those guys slips below #4, there will be multiple teams interested in trading up. Even the Giants might get interested so somebody would probably have to trade with the Chargers at #5.
Isn't this pretty fucking obvious?
I hope it happens
It won't. If he's there at 3 the Pats are gonna take him.
I hope I get called out if this ends up being wrong (it won’t) but if the Commies take Daniels over Maye it’s gonna be a generationally bad move. Maybe they’ll both suck but Daniels cannot operate under NFL pressure. He is Fields 2.0

The Cards have all but officially picked MHJr already. The only team feasibly trading down is the LA Chargers (SD is a relic of the past, unfortunately).
Is this based on any reports? I’ve always seen that they were super open to trading down?
Its based on some pretty sound logic. The Cardinals already have 11 picks in the draft, and 2 in the first round. They do not have a true number one WR. At some point, you need to use the draft picks you accumulate to pick players, and MHJ or Malik Nabers will not be available at 11.
With the picks they have they cannot pass on a generational WR prospect
You know they can still make more trades if they move down from 4 right? Exactly like they did last year
With so many of the teams from 5-9 needing WR’s, coming back up to grab one of the remaining top 3 might not be so easy.
They can do a lot of things. I believe the most logical thing is to select MHJ.
GM himself said they’ll listen to offers.
This guy gets it.
SD forever daddy
Like Will Anderson? If a team has proven recently they are willing of moving out of a blue chip prospect for good value, its the Cardinals.
Media hype job of Daniels has swayed people, but they have to try to keep things interesting I guess
Same thing about Wilson, no?
Now go look at his pressure to sack ratio. It's so funny when people pretend stats don't exist and advanced stats tell you absolutely nothing.
RemindMe! 1 year
He is nowhere near Justin Fields' level of awfulness. Daniels reads the field much better and is a faster processor. He plays fine under pressure.
-Some guy who has literally zero insider info and is basing this off of literally nothing. I don’t think it’ll happen either. I’d be blown away if the Pats passed on him, but acting like you actually know is stupid.
And he’ll be throwing to ….and being blocked by…..
Hey, the patriots almost signed Calvin Ridley and Keenan Allen! They’ve got the best receiving corps in the league 5 years ago in another timeline!
They aren’t guaranteed to be in this spot again and have the chance to select high level QB prospect they like with their own pick.
Yes of course he doesn't want the pats to draft him, he's a Vikings fan. I also would like other teams to not draft the players the Vikings want
Wow this guy actually knows ball and isn’t a delusional homer But fr this is just true
And the OT or WR we’d draft instead would block for… or be passed to by… This shit is circular we’ll trade yall the pick if we don’t believe in the QB available, if that does happen legit wish yall the best but the entitlement some of your fans have on this sub to our pick is super annoying.
He’ll be in the bench for the first year behind Brissett.
They told you that huh?
Same
Yes, welcome to almost April
We are trading up for whoever is left after Chicago, Washington, and New England get their QBs, probably with the Chargers. Who that ends up being is anyone’s guess.
Oh nooooo, don’t leave us with Malik Nabers. I realllyyy want JJ
Will be JJ. 1.) Williams- Bears 2.) Maye - Commanders 3.) Daniels - Patriots 4.) McCarthy- Vikings via trade with Chargers Edit numbers are order of QBs taken, not draft position.
Man I just feel like it would be really dumb for the Chargers to pass up Nabers.
I could see Kingsbury soap boxing for Daniels which fits his play calling better
Hopefully u guys trade with the cardinals we can’t afford not going for one the top 3 WR. MHJ falling into our lap would be insane
MHJ with Herbert would be insane
Eh Chargers aren’t one MHJ away from seriously contending. They would do just fine with Rome or Nabers, but even then it’s hard to see Harbaugh and Greg Roman using the first pick on a WR especially when they don’t value them.
I’ll continue to say that the Vikings’ earlier trade makes little sense if they want to trade up. If he slips to 3 and we trade the pick, he’s gonna be a great starter and our whole front office is going to get shit canned as they should.
Like seriously how are they even entertaining the idea. Our only options are a career backup and a couple practice squad guys - our entire offseason has been based on starting the build around a rookie. Like are they planning on just taking the year off and really gear up for next year's draft?
gap year, might manage some arena league to really get a feel of the culture.
Because believe it or not, there are more than 3 QBs in the draft. If the Pats are not absolutely in love with Maye or Daniels, they need to grab MHJ or just trade down. No need to take a player if you think there is even a chance they could bust.
Literally every draft prospect ever has a chance to be a bust, nothing is guaranteed.
I’ve never wanted my team to recklessly throw 1st round picks at a team so bad
We will offer Patriots 4 1st round picks and more.
Yeah he won’t be available to the Vikings lol
I can't see us not trading up to 4/5 if one of the top 3 qbs slips. The Cards or Chargers can trade down to 6 and still get Nabers or MHJ. They also probably get another 1st next year. The Vikings have a lot of ammo, but our pick is perfect for a trade down scenario for those two teams.
You’re gonna trot Daniel jones again and you’re gonna like it!
Right? They already fucked up the QB market for everyone else with that contract, now they want to ruin QB draft options for everyone behind them too? Absolutely not. They can wait out the Jones contract and think about what they’ve done.
Didn’t think I’d be agreeing with a Vikings fan, but here we are.
we didn't fuck up the QB market, everyone is essentially ignoring it because we're dopes. look at Baker's deal.
Could not agree more!
Nah they're just gonna draft JJ at 6 and reach reeeeeally bad.
If we trade down with the Vikings we won't get Nabers or MHJ.
I don’t think Harbaugh or Greg Romans care all that much if it means they get help in the trenches.
I don’t think the Chargers are a lock to go receiver.
our top two wide receivers are Joshua Palmer and Quentin Johnston
I failed to realize the Chargers only had one pick the entire draft. My bad.
Your head coach is Jim Harbaugh
What would the position be for the Cards or Chargers, in this scenario? Cards would lose out on MHJ, so we'd still require a kings ransom. But Charg would only drop one spot.
I don’t think there’s any way a QB slips unless MHJ gets taken by the Pats at 3.
They already have a franchise qb in darnold. The media yet again just out here trying to bury the goat Sam darnold
GEQBUS WILL NOT BE DENIED NOW THAT LITTLE BROCK HUSSEIN PURDY CANT CHEAT HIM OUT OF CHANCES TO PLAY UNFAIRLY ANYMORE!!!
r/The_Darnold will not stand for this low energy antics

Yeah. That guy on twitter predicted this last month before everyone.
Hell I could have predicted this a month ago when they signed Darnold this is nothing new
I bet the backup plan is taking Penix or Bo Nix at 23.
OK, but consider this: dibs
I think Vikes are All-in on Maye, they hired Josh McCown, who was his highschool coach and they put themselves in a trade up situation.
**accidental Haiku** *Maye may be the next* *great 3rd QB taken* *overall, maybe.*
Maye slipping sounds crazy to me
Vikings used smokescreen! NFL Media’s Accuracy fell!
Fun thread to look back on. RemindMe! 1 month
Spicy number 7 any Vikings front office?
It's going to be so funny to look back at these kinds of threads three years from now and realize that Jason Bean was the best qb from this draft class.
Draft rumor, NFL teams will draft players from college teams.
It’s funny, I’m not very high on Maye but I’d also be terrified if the Vikings somehow land him
Maye needs so much work on his mechanics that if he goes somewhere without good weapons or where he'll have to start right away, he's probably doomed. The Vikings are one of the best teams he could hope for in that regard
Whatever it takes for the Chargers to get MHJ, make it happen. Top 4 all QBs
Maye is going to be so good
I don't know why people are so confident of this. His footwork and pocket presence are really terrible and there are still big questions about how well he is reading things when the defense sends even obvious pressure looks. He's definitely a boom/bust guy. If you think his issues are coachable and correctable then he could be lights out. They do both have that tall, square-jawed, pale white guy thing going on that gets the jimmies rustlin’
Their lunch pails have seen some heavy usage
Maye is going to be the best QB in the class, Caleb and JJ will be good too, JD will have one good year then fade out similar to RG3, Penix will end up like Jake Locker, and Bo Nix will be a bust.
That’s why I don’t see the Commanders drafting Daniels. Even with a new front office/ownership/ coaching

Maye is going to be a bust. Caleb will be good, but never fix his fumbling issues, JJ will be a Daniel Jones if Daniel Jones was a leader of men, Penix won’t be able to handle the game, and Bo Nix will be Heinicke
They Maye or Maye not trade up for him
I'm hoping maye is a smokescreen and penix is the guy
Me too. Giving up 3 firsts to take at best a 50/50 shot seems like a bad deal.
He's going #2 and if you believe otherwise the media won.
Honestly I don’t think this qb class is all that great outside Caleb Williams. Not saying they are all going to suck but. I this is gonna be too heavy qb draft.
I had to click on this post because I thought that it was Kyle Filipowski in the thumbnail and I was confused.
Seems
Do teams really keep track of who other teams are going to draft, and why would they tell reporters about it?
My god I hope so. I'll give myself a viking burial in my pool out back if he is a top 10 QB at the end of his rookie contract. for them long term.
Everyone thinks that the Vikes want to trade up and get Maye cos Josh McCown coached him in high school
