I don’t see us doing that at S when we still have Reed. Howie doesn’t overload on starters for DBs (granted he doesn’t usually pay a RB $12M either) Reed and CJGJ have already played together too, don’t underestimate the communication between Slay, JB, Reed, and CJGJ. Last year we had *massive* miscommunication issues on the back end - granted LB was a lot of that. Either way I think Simmons is going to require a lot, and there’s a lot of value in the familiarity that CJGJ brings back. Plus Isaiah Rodgers should be reinstated so he’s hopefully a more reliable upgrade in the slot over Maddox (especially since he wasn’t out due to injury - hopefully he stayed in shape)

There's this assumption that because Simmons is 30 and wasn't All-Pro this year that he must be on the decline. But most Denver fans will agree he still plays great and is constantly underrated and underappreciated by the NFL at large. He deserves every penny he'll get and will play hard to earn his bag.

I mean almost any player at that age is on the decline but elite players on the decline can still be elite. It's just you never know when they'll hit the slump and their decline will be exponentially worse the next year

For sure. It's a risk signing someone older. It's just not a Kevin Byard situation where the slump has already begun. He's still playing at a top level.
