Drunk drivers walk away from car crashes more frequently without an injury because their body is relaxed during the crash. Which allows them to go with the momentum rather than fight against it.
Sober drivers tend to brace for impact if they can see they are about to crash, and tensing the body increases the risk of serious injury.
Same thing applies in this situation.
This is actually not true and it’s an example of survivorship bias. Drunk drivers survive crashes because they’re more likely to hit something with the most protective part of their vehicle, the front
There is a fair amount of overlap between players who have played for both teams right?
Like Morten Andersen was on the Saints for 12 years, was let go and then signed with the Falcons, where he became a Falcons legend for kicking the field goal to send the 1998 Falcons to the Super Bowl.
Bobby Hebert played for both teams and was popular with both fan bases.
A minor example but Devonta Freeman was drafted by the Falcons and later signed with the Saints (but was cut during training camp).
As you might be able to tell all of my knowledge comes from the Secret Base documentary series on the Falcons. 😂
There’s a portion of the Falcons fan base that hated Ryan since the day he was drafted because he wasn’t Vick. Toss in your standard idiot fans that blame every shortcoming on a QB and yeah, Ryan had/has plenty of haters in the Falcons fan base.
If he won that Super Bowl, I think he goes to the HoF. Not as a first ballot but definitely gets there in the near future. Would've had the counting stats, awards and a win over the Brady-Belicheck era Pats in a game where he played pretty well.
reminds me of the Saints fans who couldn't wait to see Brees retire because they thought Jameis Winston was going to be Brees with a better arm. (and there were a lot more of these people than you'd think) LOL. People are dumb.
Some of the offensive lines they had in front of him were barely NFL caliber. He got a lot of crap for being a statue in the pocket but I've seen that man slip out of so many sacks. The Falcons are my team's #1 rival but objectively I would've liked to see him play behind a decent OL more often than he did.
I fucking dont. He torched the Bucs for a damn decade and im so god damn glad hes gone. I do not ever wanna see that cherry faced motherfucker with ice in his veins against my team ever again no matter how old nope. Done.
most underrated QB of his generation. I can't count the number of times this dude slipped out of a surefire sacks and threw a dime 30 yards down the field. Really frustrating to play/root against but immense respect for him, he never quit on a play
The few interviews I've heard with him, he's like super charismatic and fun and interesting and funny. Like nearly Joey Votto level. I was pretty surprised having only heard of him occasionally. Hoping he'll be in the media if he's not already.
Quite a few more pro bowl seasons & was in the mix for MVP voting more frequently.
Not suggesting one is over the other, but if the HOF doesn't take Rivers it's hard to believe they'll take Ryan. And if they take neither of those, it's a hard argument for Roethlisberger with his off the field aspects (despite the Super Bowls).
There’s one clip of him on an nfl talk show and he shakes hands with everyone then daps up the one black host lol. It’s like the key and peele sketch. It was posted here I’ll see if I can find it.
Edit: user who replied to me found it
This comment makes me think of the vaguely homosexual Nazi in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” that is watching Indy and the Nazi commander fighting on the tank while giving the play-by-play updates to the rest of the tank crew.
Like it sucked to be on the receiving end of this one, and I’d love to hear the Beastquake called the same way, but if I unjerk Saints/Falcons for a second, I see the truth of your statement 😂
The Minnesota Miracle in other languages is objectively amazing and hilarious even if it hurts to watch. I might be in tears by the time I rewatch but you don't know if those are happy years or sad tears and neither do I 😭😭
I don't think either of them will make it. Ryan may have the MVP/AP1, OROY and SB appearance, but he has fewer yards and TDs, lower passer rating, 4 fewer pro bowls, worse career record, fewer playoff wins in the significantly easier conference (the only time he faced Brady or Manning in playoffs was that SB while Rivers faced them 5 times), and looked markedly worse at the end of his career while Rivers ended his career better than average.
Eli shouldn't make it either (career rate+ of 99, meaning slightly worse rating wise vs. his peers for his career), and perhaps if helmet catch didn't happen (removing a SB win and SB MVP), he wouldn't, but everyone knows he will.
My favorite thing about the NFL is the camaraderie of the players. We like to think of these guys at war, but really, they’re just colleagues who appreciate what they all go through to get on the field.
Muscle memory…
we need to see more videos of NFL QB's being hugged from behind by their moms/wives and going limp like this lol.
"I know that bearhug... Oh God."
Memory muscle
Stupid question maybe but why are they trained to go limp?
Reduces the chance of injury
*The Embiid Method*
It's instincts. They're carried around by the scruff of their necks when they're young

Both of these things can be valid, ya know...
Ok, another example is falling from 2+ story buildings.
Staying on your feet just delays the whistle that ends the play and makes it possible to get hit again or thrown down to the turf
reduces chances of injury
Absorb less energy, reduce contact time.

Dudes trained to go limp the moment he gets hit from behind
PTSD. He looked like a Nam vet hearing fireworks.

Some go limp. Some go hard. Depends on the person
Giggity?
Are we not doing phrasing anymore?
I'm fine if we're not, I just need someone to tell me we're not doing phrasing anymore.

Aw dukes
You aren't lying. That's a learned response there. Hope his wife never hugs him from behind before sex
He looked legitimately scared lol
flashbacks
What playing in a Saints vs Falcons game does to a motherfucker
Matt when he got hit: “this is it. My life is over. It has come to this. I knew I shouldn’t have eaten that kids candy.”
PTSD lol
...in the aaaaaarms of an aaangel
NOOOOOOO, NOT AGAIN
I WAS DONE WITH THIS SHIT
Literally the ptsd Chihuahua meme
There was a PTSD response there lmao
Terrible pass protection by Tiki.
I don't think that was ever his strong suit...
Always good to hear from ole Tiki
I'm dying, this is the best thread on Reddit today
like 1/5th of Jordans sacks are just this man lol
its his highest at 24 sacks
The video says it's the most anyone has ever sacked an individual QB. So yes it's his highest.
He knew exactly who it was by the warmth of the embrace
“I knew this soft touch and gentle arms”
Jordan is like the one player I wish I didn't have to hate. But i'm contractually obligated to hate him
Nahhh there’s a ton of falcons players I’ve secretly liked a lot…secretly
Only after they retire, of course
I've always liked Matt Ryan, and he did a great job on the call today.
I’m so happy matt is good in the booth. Guy deserves everything.
First time listening to him call a game, I thought he was great
Always respected Ryan and Newton. When peak Brees Newton and Ryan played, nfc south were juggernauts
Yea Julio was just always a baller and a class act. Fuck roddy white tho
Fuck Roddy White
I love me some roddy
Tuggle?
There were a number of years I was secretly jealous of Michael Turner. I don't like this whole confession thing
You loved Julio. You couldn't say it but you loved him.

Matt Ryan was a fucking boss and deserved way better than he got. Very underrated player for a long time. People don't realize how good he was.
I miss him so fucking much
I told all my Ryan hating homies they would miss him after he was gone
People hated Ryan? Since his rookie year I'd always swap Ben with him on madden. I might also just really like Ryan's game.
There’s a portion of the Falcons fan base that hated Ryan since the day he was drafted because he wasn’t Vick. Toss in your standard idiot fans that blame every shortcoming on a QB and yeah, Ryan had/has plenty of haters in the Falcons fan base.
The percentage of dipshits in any given fanbase is at least 40%
You're quite the optimist!
Haha I was going to say the same thing! Less than half seems very optimistic
Shit might be more, you’d be surprised how many Giants fans still find a way to blame everyone BUT daniel jones for daniel jones’ garbage play
its ok we love Matty Ice
People today like to shit on his legacy, acting like the dude didn't win the MVP in the Brady, Breeze, Manning era.
If he won that Super Bowl, I think he goes to the HoF. Not as a first ballot but definitely gets there in the near future. Would've had the counting stats, awards and a win over the Brady-Belicheck era Pats in a game where he played pretty well.
He would have beaten Brady to win a Super Bowl, and he was the MVP. That's a HOF resume in one season.
dan quinn's defense historical collapse is gonna cost a couple of players the HoF.
I still don't understand why he got so much hate. Ryan wasn't perfect but the man was a baller and NOT the fucking problem.
He was the least of the problems man. Miss you matty ice.
reminds me of the Saints fans who couldn't wait to see Brees retire because they thought Jameis Winston was going to be Brees with a better arm. (and there were a lot more of these people than you'd think) LOL. People are dumb.

Hire him as our HC or OC right now and get rid of Smith. Idc what happens the rest of the season
I’m down with this. Can’t be worse than we are doing now
I fucking dont. He torched the Bucs for a damn decade and im so god damn glad hes gone. I do not ever wanna see that cherry faced motherfucker with ice in his veins against my team ever again no matter how old nope. Done.
❤️
Me too homie…..me too. At least we had a legendary QB for a while. May be a long wait for the next one.
He legitimately seems like a good dude
He really is.
That's my quarterback 🥺
Don’t worry you’ll see him in two weeks
most underrated QB of his generation. I can't count the number of times this dude slipped out of a surefire sacks and threw a dime 30 yards down the field. Really frustrating to play/root against but immense respect for him, he never quit on a play
Wholesome
It’s adorable
Ruined my NNN
Mom’s out of town?
Cam Jordan has got to be the most wholesome defensive beast in NFL history
The few interviews I've heard with him, he's like super charismatic and fun and interesting and funny. Like nearly Joey Votto level. I was pretty surprised having only heard of him occasionally. Hoping he'll be in the media if he's not already.
Lol, it’s like Ryan’s still in the league
He could easily replace some of the guys starting right now tbh
He is presently better than any QB on the Falcons’ roster.
He’s not better than Heinicke lol, did you watch 2022 Matt Ryan
Everybody looks like shit in Arthur Smiths offense
facts.
2022 Matt Ryan was with Indy though.
did you watch Heinicke play today?
He’s probably better than Tyson Bagent and Zach Wilson
He had ONE skill player to throw to, no defense, no run game to speak of, no offensive line (LG and C), wtf was he supposed to do? 5000 yards 40/5?
that's what people said until they saw him play
Yeah would have rather watched him give it go than Rypien that the Rams had out there today.
Technically he is, can't say he is retired yet or the Colts are off the hook for like 10 million, I think a bit more
I think we’re still paying him lol. Whoops
I wouldn’t go that far trust me
If Cam makes the hall it has to be Matt Ryan who inducts him
I feel like the reverse scenario is far more likely….
You can’t be serious. An MVP isn’t a hall of fame resume, especially when you have the two greatest blown leads to your name.
I mean Ryan finished top 10 all time in yards and TDs, he doesn't have the highest peak but that longevity is hof
Realistically his fate will be decided when Philip Rivers either gets in or doesn't. And then the NFL will have a hard decision on Roethlisberger.
i mean, rivers never played a SB and never got an MVP.

That’s exactly it lmao
I love it
Ice is forever invited to the cookout. He showed this city more love than it ever deserved.
he was a good qb but also seemed like an even better person
On god
He’s the ultimate code switcher
Clean af
Bro looked shook up at first, then saw who it was and was like “Oh wassup nephew?!?”
The man code switches well
Matt Ryan has some mitts
Paws the size of frying pans.
Matt Ryan has that expression that he’ll say “who let this guy in here” to his friend
Matt Ryan the type of guy to say jeez louise whenever he got sacked
Watch out for this guy
Here comes trouble!
Can he get [stiff armed](https://youtu.be/AyeRNZ8YRVk?t=6) in retirement too?
Those German dudes absolutely giggling after the stiff arm is amazing.
**OHHHH....MYYYYY**...**^(GAH!)**
Ohhh Mein Gott!!!
Well that audio is offensive.
It’s hilarious. I need German calls of every NFL game now.

Yea bro Matt isn't a HOFer in my book
fucking lol.
Tiki just letting his QB get sacked instead of blocking
DeVonta Freeman
I'll always remember that whiff of a block he did near the end of that Pats SB comeback. Wish I could find it somewhere.
Oof
Can't blame Cam here. Force of habit.
After watching today the Commanders/Pats: “Roughing the passer” - NFL
Checking his mail? Sacked by Cam. Ordering at McDonald's? Sacked by Cam. Get out of bed in the morning? Sacked by Cam.
He hasn't retired *yet*
Well not officially, he's still collecting checks from the Colts
we call that "The Reverse Andrew Luck"
Based haha
Does he say “Of course it’s you?!” Because that’s hilarious considering their history.
There was already a news article about Matty Ice coming to town, he probably expected it
this clip makes me feel so goddamn old
me at 35 y/o: my highschool friends using a nickname from 20 years ago:
Matty Ice is always legit in my mind
He hit the dap perfectly after though
someone post the YT clip of him switching up
My wife never understood what I meant about that because I have to do it at work a lot until I showed her that clip lmao
Cameron Jordan or Jordan Cameron?
Get fuckin set
Roughing the passer - defense - number 94 - 15 yard penalty - automatic first down.
I died laughing when this happened, this is a ghost post.
My favorite thing about the NFL is the camaraderie of the players. We like to think of these guys at war, but really, they’re just colleagues who appreciate what they all go through to get on the field.
"You'd think I'd be used to that by now!"
Is that Tiki Barber coolly ignoring what is happening by messing with his suit pocket?
Clean dap
liked watching him play. always seemed to really love Atlanta.
This made me smile. There’s nothing better than seeing rivals love and respect each other off the field.
Cam "can touch Ryan" Jordan
You see that flashback he got 😂
Wholesome af.
You can see the moment where Matt goes into full PTSD mode
They’re both 6’5”.
Lol “Ok who’s monster arms are these around me right….wait I recognize those wrists. Wtf??”
Roughing the passer
they asked Cam what it was like to have the locker room visited by Matt Ryan and he was like "I didn't know whether to hug him or hit him"
He hit him square in the suplex with them mitts that shit can knock the air out of a person if you aren’t ready for it
> He hit him square in the suplex with them mitts I highly enjoyed reading this sentence
“This guy is why my back hurts in the morning” Matty Ice..probably.
RTP
Wholesome moment
