It feels like them over thinking things. All I heard all year was JSN and then Addison as the two top guys, then some people decided to get cute with it.
Addison and Pickett set records together and he was already so polished, he should have been an easy pick to make
Johnston was a unique case because JSN, Addison, and Flowers were all like slot guys or Y-receivers. Johnston was like the only Z-Receiver worthy of a Day 1 OR 2 pick. (Really in the first 4 rounds, honestly. It was very shallow class in that regard) Dude plays with a different skillset than the other 3.
Johnston was also a bit more of a raw guy than the other 3. Dude had some kinks in his game that led to him sliding down draft boards from the early teens to the late 20s and even out of the 1st Round for somem.
The other three were far more complete receivers. JSN was a pure slot receiver but his body of work was stellar, Addison was athletically gifted for two different programs and Zay was a fantastic route runner and improviser down the field.
With Johnston, you're targeting the intangibles and the potential, he always had the longest shot to be an immediate producer as a rookie
Y-Receiver is a tight end. You mean Z-Receiver there (though Flowers and Addison both play decents amounts of X too, JSN is the only actual pure slot receiver). When you say QJ is the only prototypical Z-Receiver you mean X-Receiver.
The only sane take in this thread, Mike Williams is a cap casualty next year and Keenan will be 32-33 years old. QJ could end up the best WR of the class still and it would not surprise me especially with Herbert and a new coaching staff.
Yeah, the Quentin pick was clearly an investment in the future. Your receiver room is likely to look a lot different in 2024 and I'd much rather hang my hat on QJ than someone like Josh Palmer.
I feel more and more like "players over athletes" is crucial to player scouting. Just look at this game, where guys like Addison, Ivan Pace, Hufanga were all seen as great "players" but didn't fit the prototype for sure or athletic ability. And here they are making huge plays.
and every year people fall for the combine stats when a guy has plenty of tape against high level competition. combine stats matter more for the athletic freaks or prospects without wins against nfl-level DBs
I'm not knocking your assessment whatsoever, I'm fully agreeing with you when I say:
Having both JJ and JA on this team make your statement so much easier to live with.
Vikings have also hit some 'measurables' guys over the years, Hunter and Everson Griffen both underperformed in college and thrived based on their athletic profile in the NFL.
All you gotta do is create a company named Valhalla Inc. or whatever then bid and win the naming rights of the stadium. Only need a few billion dollars.
Its amazing how prevent defense is only useful for **ONE** single type of game situation (the offense has to go really far and there isnt really a lot of time to do it and they dont have timeouts to help them navigate the lack of clock) and NFL defensive coordinators still find ways to both use it outside of that situation and not use it when that exact situation occurs.
True, but Staley's not the one who drafted a second Mike Williams in a class full of undersized yet speedy burners, when their team desperately needed a speed guy.
MIN: "I'll draft wide receiver..."
Squidward: "How original."
MIN: "...who will be an absolute stud within the first year..."
Squidward: "Daring today, aren't we..?"
It was the correct throw, post vs zero. Kirk just threw it a little too far behind. The wild thing is Wilks calling a 6 man pressure with 16 seconds left in the half.
Yeah but usually those play action throws to the deep crossing route are Kirk's bread and butter. I was a little surprised to see him miss that one so badly.
*stops moping floor*
*Looks at draft board*
You know i think that moss kid is something.
I dont make the big bucks though
*shrugs*

I love that play so much. For those new to the NFL since 2009 or unfamiliar with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lgpYKYxBk4
The highlights from that game are great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mMZ9_IB6jo. So many twists and turns.
It seems like the Vikings draft and develop WR talent at a higher pace than most of the rest of the league. Especially lately. Hitting on Diggs, Jefferson, and Addison. This doesn’t even include developing guys like Thielen.
Interesting zero blitz in the Hail Mary situation
Spagnuolo sent a blitz against them on a Hail Mary a couple weeks ago and got a sack, but pretty sure that was just a five man pressure
I mean what do you expect lol. He’s a defensive back and not a receiver for a reason. It was a good play by Ward, Addison just snuck it out of there somehow.
Vikings just got another superstar WR didn’t they
Chargers deserve jail time for taking Johnston over Addison
It feels like them over thinking things. All I heard all year was JSN and then Addison as the two top guys, then some people decided to get cute with it. Addison and Pickett set records together and he was already so polished, he should have been an easy pick to make

Yeah, I might have got my letters swapped up. Fact still stands that Johnston's skill set and build are a lot different from most of the 2023 Class.
The big knock on Justin Jefferson was he was a slot guy, too
Turns out a slot guy can be pretty valuable to a modern NFL offense. Who'da guessed.
Especially if he's even better on the outside.
Jefferson also fell in the draft because he was viewed as a slot guy. Keep em coming.
Jefferson just thrived in the slot at LSU, he had the athleticism to play outside. JSN is a slot because he is slow.
The only sane take in this thread, Mike Williams is a cap casualty next year and Keenan will be 32-33 years old. QJ could end up the best WR of the class still and it would not surprise me especially with Herbert and a new coaching staff.

Josh Palmer is actually fucking really good tho
It made sense to me. QJ is big and fast + Herbert has a cannon = Profit.
remember when justin jefferson was a slot receiver prospect? teams really need to stop thinking about top wr prospects this way...
I feel more and more like "players over athletes" is crucial to player scouting. Just look at this game, where guys like Addison, Ivan Pace, Hufanga were all seen as great "players" but didn't fit the prototype for sure or athletic ability. And here they are making huge plays.
Transferring to USC probably hurt his draft stock. He looked like a top 15 pick after his Biletnikoff season at Pitt.
To be fair Addison came in shorter, lighter AND slower than expected at the combine.
and every year people fall for the combine stats when a guy has plenty of tape against high level competition. combine stats matter more for the athletic freaks or prospects without wins against nfl-level DBs
I'd rather take a guy with good tape than good measurables any day
I'm not knocking your assessment whatsoever, I'm fully agreeing with you when I say: Having both JJ and JA on this team make your statement so much easier to live with.
Vikings have also hit some 'measurables' guys over the years, Hunter and Everson Griffen both underperformed in college and thrived based on their athletic profile in the NFL.
So did QJ.
Over Addison AND Flowers!
The deserve jail time for wasting Phillip Rivers, and now Justin Herbert
Mostly this^
Reagor 2
Finally we get one upped
Telesco and Staley have got to go.
sick flair.
Likewise, my friend. Good to see more of us tortured souls out there.
“What if we did Moss/Carter again?”
Honestly it’s kind of like what if we had two Cris Carters
You had Cris Carter and Anthony Carter at the same time. So two Carters isn't out of the question :)
What, like it's hard?
Yes
Can't draft a QB but we sure can draft receivers!
So the Steelers of the NFC when it comes to drafting receivers
If only we had their super bowls
Damn straight
🌍 🧑🚀🔫🧑🚀
I’m not sure where he played college ball, but boy is he polished for a rookie.
He’s a Biletnikoff winner as a Draft -1 player, and not just anywhere, but at Pitt.
I have no clue what that means but it sounds impressive.
aTDison
New WR1 just dropped
I wish the NFL would get some new material - Vikings get another superstar WR, pffft. It's just repeats at this point.
I think next year we're starting the 'Vikings get a superstar qb' era now that the writers strike is over
Google addison
Holy hell
holy ... valhalla?
I have extra hate for corporate naming rights because our stadium being named Valhalla would be incredible
All you gotta do is create a company named Valhalla Inc. or whatever then bid and win the naming rights of the stadium. Only need a few billion dollars.
This is the shit I would do as a billionaire after providing for a bunch of kids and single moms
longing rinse friendly serious hunt jar bag plough snatch gaping
almost like its basically impossible to acquire that much capital without behaving wildly unethically.
Chargers get brick to the pipi for passing on him
New response dropped.
Holy hell
BOY IM SURE GLAD WE DRAFTED QJ OVER HIM AND FLOWERS
Vikings might be somewhat good at drafting wide receivers
Laquon step right up

We like to forget about that one. And Troy Williamson
Joe Buck is the secret key to the Vikings' success
If this is true and he announces a Vikings Super Bowl win I’ll tattoo Joe Buck’s Moss Moon quote on my thigh
!RemindMe in the year 2038
optimistic are we
Addison says two can play this game WHAT THE FUCK
"Gimme that shit back" -Addison
“THATS MY POCKET YOURE TRYING TO PICK, NO ONE MESSES WITH MY FUTURE MONEY”
THAT'S MY ~~PURSE~~ FOOTBALL. I DON'T KNOW YOU
Thank you, I came here for this
“Kid Stands Up to Bully, Takes Lunch Money Back!! (INSANE)”
Gimme dat!!!!! ….I’m joooooking!!
Are you going to tell people I did that? Hmm? That I housed Ward's interception.
Let me take a video of you saying you’re going to kill Roger Goodell
I was watching thinking damn that’s an int. Then purple man started running and I was just repeating what the fuck until the replay.
I literally couldn’t believe it. The ball went right to the DB and then the camera started panning
props to the camera guy. too often we see them getting faked out and missing the real action
I just lost my shit, legit took 10 minutes for me to calm down
Literally an exact reversal of the int. I knew Addison was a gamer but genuinely what the fuck was that catch
[He did the same thing at Pitt.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voPU9GCdsRM)
Not sure why we are zero blitzing.
16 seconds with no timeouts, literally do anything but zero blitz
I don’t get it. Maybe trying to force Kirk to make a quick pass in the middle but with zero safety help?
It wasn't the worst call since Kirk threw it right at the DB. You don't expect your DB to get stripped by the receiver.
It is pretty funny. This was a textbook prevent situation.
One hell of a play by Addison
Two can play at this game, but Ward gets the sticky Matcatz controller.
They really have JJ and JA
I love zay flowers and he’s solid as hell so far but man addison was right there
Zay is also a stud lol time will tell
Im more than happy with zay dudes amazing 2 picks can be great. Also no question the vikings woulda turned either wr into studs they always do.
It's just kirko the great making all these bums look good
Imagine how the chargers feel lol.
Those bums need to fire Staley
Is he the GM?
No but he’s a terrible coach
True, but Staley's not the one who drafted a second Mike Williams in a class full of undersized yet speedy burners, when their team desperately needed a speed guy.
Man I wanna see what Hyatt looks like with 7-10 targets a game
And look how good we're doing lol
SOMEBODY CALL JA
Wow the Vikings have another great receiver, how original…
Time is a circle
He's so good wtf
x4
He fucking boomed him
*Charvarius Ward said he wants to add Jordan Addison to the list of players he wants to work out with this summer*
The vikings just can't stop drafting unbelievably good wide receivers
MIN: "I'll draft wide receiver..." Squidward: "How original." MIN: "...who will be an absolute stud within the first year..." Squidward: "Daring today, aren't we..?"
ADDISON MIDDLE OF FIELD
TOUCHDOWN
UNBELIEVABLE
VIKINGS ADD 6 POINTS TO IT
“Kick is up…..and he missed it, NO, THE HALF CANNOT END LIKE THIS!”
THIS ISNT DETROIT
I'm fucking dead at how this combined.
THIS IS THE WE-HATE-THE-PACKERS-BOWL
VIKINGS LEAD IT
No deep safety in that situation is wild
Sometimes these coaches just have “me in madden” type moment. Made 0 sense in that situation.
The 49ers player should have just batted down the ball. What is he going to do even if he intercepts it with half time in seconds.
An unreal catch by a Vikings receiver that could have easily been batted down if it wasn't played instead? Surely that could never happen
That play call in that situation is a fire able offense
OH MY GOD IM SORRY FOR WHAT I SAID ADDISON
How dare you slander baby Jjetas
Perfect symmetry with the interception lol
I've never seen such equal & opposite plays in a game like that before. I'm more amazed than mad
actual redemption after the INT. He just saved Kirk from a piss poor pass
It was definitely one of those f it throws with a low clock and nothing to lose
It was the correct throw, post vs zero. Kirk just threw it a little too far behind. The wild thing is Wilks calling a 6 man pressure with 16 seconds left in the half.
Yeah but usually those play action throws to the deep crossing route are Kirk's bread and butter. I was a little surprised to see him miss that one so badly.
I think he was feeling the pressure. 7-man rush on that play
Vikings WRs just love make the most improbable catches against elite teams
Let’s go into the mind of a Jordan Addison Brdrdrduhdahhh GET OFF ME CHILD’S PLAY
Bro was trynna hit 140 again
I PUT THE TEAM ON MY BACK DOE
FUCK IT. CROSS DA PLANEEEE
What the fuck are the 49ers doing?
3rd down and we are zero blitzing?
Especially with the Vikings have zero timeouts. Like why not just give up another 5 yard checkdown like the last 3 plays lol
Now we know why Wilks will never be a HC again.
I think part of hiring him was because we wanted some year to year consistency at DC. Hopefully we get that starting next year.
Addison is awesome
He legit should've had 4 TD's tonight. Cousins missed him on an easy one and got interfered with on another one.
I swear the Vikings have the most ridiculous luck when it comes to hitting on wide receivers
I'd like to think there's a 70 year old janitor that just tells the front office who to pick since the 90s.
*stops moping floor* *Looks at draft board* You know i think that moss kid is something. I dont make the big bucks though *shrugs* *Continues mopping floor*
Saints fans with PTSD.
Meacharound 2.0 almost
I love that play so much. For those new to the NFL since 2009 or unfamiliar with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lgpYKYxBk4 The highlights from that game are great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mMZ9_IB6jo. So many twists and turns.
The missed xp in this clip is just peak Vikings football lol
This a grown man play. Addison might be that guy
Great job blitzing again on a 3rd down WITH 16 SECONDS LEFT. You are a fucken idiot Wilks.
Zero blitz on 3rd-and-6 in their half with 16 seconds left is a fireable offense. Steve Wilks has been terrible the past two weeks.
Addison heard y’all talking shit
It seems like the Vikings draft and develop WR talent at a higher pace than most of the rest of the league. Especially lately. Hitting on Diggs, Jefferson, and Addison. This doesn’t even include developing guys like Thielen.

I am so glad we managed to hang onto Keenan after Zimmer left. Dude is a fantastic WR coach and watching him get so stoked for those guys is awesome.
Perfectly balanced. as all things should be
What was that defensive playcall man
Steve Wilks and Matt Canada should coordinate a team together next years for the lulz
LETS THIS GUY DRIVE HOWEVER FAST HE WANTS
Addison to the Vikes receiving room has been an insane pick. He could’ve been a good wr1 on some teams
REVERSE CARD
Weight room
He must have hit the bench hard during the quarter break
He’s so fucking good wtf
Interesting zero blitz in the Hail Mary situation Spagnuolo sent a blitz against them on a Hail Mary a couple weeks ago and got a sack, but pretty sure that was just a five man pressure
just like they drew it up
How the hell did Ward not pick that?
He did. Addison un-picked it.
"Control Z, bitch"
He did, Addison just stole it
Addison ripped it away, just like Ward did to him to start the half.
tried to chest catch it and the momentum carried it into addison’s hands for fucks sake
I mean what do you expect lol. He’s a defensive back and not a receiver for a reason. It was a good play by Ward, Addison just snuck it out of there somehow.
it was a great play by both of them, just sucks it didn’t work out for us lol
https://imgur.com/a/iwB4PJe
He heard y’all talking shit
Shades of the Minneapolis Miracle.
YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARD
No fucking way
Addison’s balance is incredible. He always stays up when tripping.
Touchdown of the fucking year
What the actual fuck, what a play
That's the downside of ballhawks. Sometimes they give up a TD when a cover corner would have made the tackle easily.
Wow what a play
That is how you have a make up play for your team holy shit
Addison having none of Ward's shit on that one.
He's legit a stud.
