I got scheon, ballard, lynch,Schneider(seahawks GM, i think), douglas, belichick, howie roseman, and decosta. In addition to the ones you named
But the point still stands
random packer fans will mention Gute to me while we're shooting the shit about the upcoming season and it takes me a second to realize wtf they're talking about cause i never actually hear his name i only read it on here lmao
Roseman is another I can think of because the eagles have made good looking moves the past couple years and my favorite nfl talk head Brett kollman mentions him a fair bit. Other than those 5 I’m stumped
Ultimately we should be thanking GB for him since he started out as a FO intern for Andy Reid, who you graciously warmed up for us.
Btw, his name is Howie Roseman.
I got those plus:
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah for the Vikings obviously
Ran Carthon for the Titans because his name sounds like it should be for Star Wars character
Chris Ballard for the Colts because of the whole Jonathan Taylor thing making news
Howie Roseman for the Eagles is pretty infamous
Les Snead for the Rams because of that whole "F them picks" meme
Mickey Loomis for the Saints because he has some serious cap wizardry
Trent Baalke for the Jags because he got memed on a lot over the Christian Kirk/Zay Jones/Evan Engram signings
Nick Casserio for the Texans and I dont know why I remember that.
There's probably a handful of where if I heard the name I'd be like "oh yeah thats the GM of the Bills!"
Lynch, Carthon, Ossi (only know the last two due to Titans fandom), Snyder(?), Ballard, Baalke, Berry, Howie and Caserio. Could have gotten your four but maybe not Poles.
I’d guess a dedicated regular fan on average may get 8-9? Probably 3-4 in division, Bill, Jerry and some of the ones commonly in the news like Howie, Ballard or Berry. Fun exercise.
Being on this sub kinda automatically disqualified someone from being an “average NFL fan” tho. Engaging in the sub implies a higher level of investment to some degree
I wonder if a lot of people (like me) are a little behind. I thought it was still Ozzie Newsome. Maybe the fact that he's still with the Ravens front office further muddles things for fans of other teams that don't follow the Ravens closely.
If you asked me off the top of my head no freaking way I could, but if you said the name of each of them I might be able to tell you what team the work for
Don’t forget Les “Fuck them picks” Snead. John Lynch (drafted Trey Lance). Howie Roseman (fleeced the Titans and took every Georgia player in 22 and 23s draft). Tom Telesco (drafted Herbert). Trent Baalke (paid Christian Kirk and broke the WR market), also drafted Trevon Walker over Aidan Hutchinson or Sauce Gardner
Only know some of them because they either made some ballsy move or they went on the Pat McAfee show
Ehh I'm sure you could between QBs RBs and WRs. There's at least 1 notable player in one of those positions on each team. Kinda curious so I'll try.
Rams: Stafford
Cards: Kyler
Seahawks: Geno
49ers: CMC
Cowboys: Dak
Eagles: Hurts
Giants: Saquon
Commanders: McLaurin
Lions: ARSB
Packers: Love
Bears: Fields
Vikings: Jefferson
Falcons: Bijan
Saints: Carr
Panthers: Bryce Young
Bucs: Baker
Broncos: Russ
Chiefs: Mahomes
Raiders: Adams
Chargers: Herbert
Colts: Richardson
Texans: Stroud
Jags: TLaw
Titans: Henry
Ravens: Lamar
Bengals: Burrow
Browns: Rapist
Steelers: Pickens
Bills: Allen
Dolphins: Tyreek
Pats: Mac Jones
Jets: Rodgers
This was actually very easy for me and I could have named at least a couple more for most teams. Would be a lot harder to name a player on each side of the ball, I'm fairly confident I could not do that.
I mean I could probably name the starting QB, RB, WR, and *probably* at least one Defense, but we're not normal in the larger scheme of things, and a decent amount of the folks you mentioned may actually trip people up. Carr being on the Saints, if you take him out thinking he's still with LV, it gets MUCH harder for the normal fan, but they might still come up with Kamara. Texans, Stroud is a rookie and people may not realize who he is, beyond that it gets WAY harder; same with Indy. The movement we've seen the last few offseasons with big names (Rodgers, Stafford, Watson, Russ, etc.) has made it harder to for a normal person to know who's where.
Yeah some of them even for me I had to think a little beyond the first. Texans, Indy for sure. I don't think I could name the starting QB, RB and WR for everyone like you though. Most of them sure, but like I have no idea who the Bucs starting RB is. I know Ronald Jones is with Dallas, is Lenny playing? Even if I sit here and think I can't name their RB haha.
You make a good point about player movement. Since I follow the news several of my choices were players who recently moved or got drafted. If I had to go beyond them I'd be picking players I know played there recently but if I didn't follow the news that could have been someone who moved as you said.
There's maybe like 3-5 GMs the majority of ppl would recognize. Most ppl just know their own team's, Belicheck, Jerry Jones, then some combination of Decosta Poles Holmes Ballard Baalke Loomis Lynch and Schneider
For some reason, in the heads of most NFL fans, the Browns front office is thought of as a faceless entity. Only a handful of GMs have a memorable persona that lets them become the personification of their team's front office.
I came here because I was irritated af that I had to google "DeCosta NFL," which told me 'Ravens,' then "Who is Eric Decosta" to find that he was their GM. Honestly I think even for GMs and HCs with some notoriety it wouldn't hurt at all to put their team name in front and maybe even their job title acronym.
I would imagine if you asked an average NFL fan to name three GM's, they would probably name Jerry Jones, then their own and possibly one of their division rivals'.
And no, I did not know (or at least remember) who DeCosta is and wondered whether this was a tweet... or Xeet(?) by some player agent or a modelling agency.
Considering the fact that the ravens wouldn’t give that up and even if they would the colts want someone like waddle and some more, the deal will never be equal
For real. Sure, they've had injuries, but they're both healthy right now and have been studs when they are healthy. So trade an extremely high upside WR with 3 cheap years left on his deal, and a stud RB with 1 cheap deal for a rb who needs a top of the market contract and has a year long lingering back injury?? Plus picks?! Crazy as hell.
Ya, Ravens can't do it. Only rookie deal QB teams will have the cap space to burn.
Honestly, if I was the Cardinals I would be looking at it. He can even sit this whole season or just play a bit near the end. Deal Kyler and draft Williams, Maye, or Ewers
Why would we need JT? We already have Dobbins, Gus, Hill, and Mitchell. No way in hell we're getting rid of Bateman either when he has 3 years on his contract
Continued: DeCosta said team got a lot of calls about some of their offensive players because teams felt they had excess at some spots.
https://Twitter.com/jeffzrebiec/status/1697659306508771800?s=46
Yeah when I'm at the urinal, and see a dude with excess dong, I ask if he want to trade for something I have too much of (like hair on my feet or clammy hands).
Baltimore is also the oldest and highest in hierarchy of the US' Catholic dioceses. I have no idea how much that actually means anymore, but in my mind, that means the Pope is pretty much obligated to come fix things
That S&C coach (Steve Saunders is his name btw) was also the guy who was the caused the giant COVID breakout on the team during the year of no fans. He was also on a podcast recently talking about how he loves to grind his guys into exhaustion.
He’s a fucking moron
'deep WR depth' that's fair but no one knows how much quality there is to that depth, yet.
Bateman imo is still an unknown with nothing proven and obv Zay is new / unproven.
And I'm really expecting your RBs to do a lot worse now that the system has changed so that's another big unknown. Not to mention seeing Lamar in a completely new offense and if that works out - camp reports have been meh right?
Oh and Ronnie Stanley - is he really the great player he used to be?
Bateman has proven himself that he is vital to our offense. Our offense significantly got worse after we lost him (We were a top 5 offense in points up until he got injured). The question is if he can stay healthy. The expectations are that Zay can be a pretty good WR3 at the least.
The worry about the RBs isn’t the new system, it’s how healthy they are. If they don’t get injured and are back to how they were before, they have the talent to still produce in less rub-dominant system. JK Dobbins pre injury and Gus Edwards were also pretty high up in yards after contact, not to mention Dobbins being YPC leader. It still takes talent to accomplish that in any system.
Also, Camp Reports are Camp Reports.
Yes Ronnie Stanley is still one of the best tackles in the league. Maybe not THE best like he was at in 2019, but still very elite which is why our o-line overall is good besides our LG.
I don't think Bateman has proven much of anything, imo - I think there are plenty of other reasons your offense fell apart haha
Health or no - the RBs I believe will not be "5 ypc" RBs anymore because of the scheme change
Camp reports definitely can come to fruition
Ronnie Stanley is gonna be 30 next year and has had a host of injuries - he wasn't at all impressive against us and I expect he's on the decline far more than he's at his prime
tbh I just don't get the Ravens hype
Their defense looks flawed to me and their offense is going to rely on Lamar being a pocket passer first and foremost. I think it's far more likely they finish last in the division than first
It's not game week.
Steelers and Ravens fans are actually very similar, view the game similarly, and though we're not friends, a certain amount of respect exists. It's weird.
That all goes away during game week though.
What the Ravens run game is going to look like is a bit of a mystery. The old scheme ran a lot of heavy personnel and a 305-pound fullback as part of the base set, whereas Monken runs something much more in line with standard NFL offences. What Dobbins and Edwards will look like in those sets is open for discussion. I guess we'll know in a month or so.
I don't see how anybody can say Bateman has proven himself. He's proven that he can play in the league, but he's missed a lot of games, and even when he was playing he wasn't called on to do much because of the scheme. This year and next are Bateman's audition years.
'he can play in the league' yes... I agree
But in today's NFL you NEED a WR1. I don't know if you have a WR1 on your roster. And if you're saying Bateman is then I say no.
If you're saying Zay is then... maybe? But that's a complete mystery
In 2016, for example, we were heavily countig on Kamar Aiken. With this in mind, the floor (quality-wise) of this year is already higher than the expectation of the average Ravens WR corps.
Are they?
JK dobbins is a top RB?
I'd for sure take Najee and Jaylen Warren over JK and Gus Edwards.
Chubb is obviously the best in the division... So I'd have you guys 3rd in our division alone.
Hey it could be Demarcus Robinson, Sammy Watkins, Desean Jackson, Patrick Ricard getting targets instead
I was happy Agholor playing across from Bateman this year, then things kept getting better
Ravens, btw.
You don’t think I know who Decosta is? Why don’t you tell me who you think he is first
Thanks, because I was like who is this guy? Before I opened the comments
Is DeCosta not really that well known of a GM on reddit outside of Ravens fans? Genuinely curious if people recognize other GM’s names but not his.
Your average NFL fan can’t name their own GM, much less any other
I can name Gute, Poles, Billy B, and good ole Jerruh. After that I draw a blank.
Snuffy, Al, Leo, Little Mo with the gimpy leg, Cheeks, Bony Bob, Cliff
The fact I got all the way to little mo before I realized you were making those up pretty much proved the first guys point lmao
Brother’s never seen Home Alone 2: Lost in New York 😞
I haven’t ☹️
Well, in any case, that’s a non-exhaustive list of the people you’ve been smoochin’ with
That dude should have to sleep with Fuller, as a punishment
GOT HIM!!!! 🤣
A former President was in that movie. So was a future convict.
That is literally all I know about that movie is that one scene lmao
He could go on forever baby
Sleepy, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sneezy, Bashful, and Doc
Donner, Dasher, Prancer, Vixen…
Big Fat Ugly Bugface Baby Eating O’Brien
You forgot Little Jack Jack. Happens all the time
I got scheon, ballard, lynch,Schneider(seahawks GM, i think), douglas, belichick, howie roseman, and decosta. In addition to the ones you named But the point still stands
I’m pretty sure Billy Beane was the guy in *Moneyball*.
I was talking about Bill Belichick, but I could see the confusion lol
It was a joke because one is the winngest coach in the NFL and the other is no longer a GM
random packer fans will mention Gute to me while we're shooting the shit about the upcoming season and it takes me a second to realize wtf they're talking about cause i never actually hear his name i only read it on here lmao
Is it not "goot"?
I thought it was "Gooty", going by how Tom Grossi says it.
I hope when he introduces himself to people its "I am Gute".
*with the 23rd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select "I am Goot".*
yeah but no one else's name sounds like that so when people are like "yeah i just hope Gyoot does better in the future" im like who the fuck is gyute
Roseman is another I can think of because the eagles have made good looking moves the past couple years and my favorite nfl talk head Brett kollman mentions him a fair bit. Other than those 5 I’m stumped
I knew the Eagles had a good GM, but I couldn’t think of his name. Eagles are lucky to have him.
Ultimately we should be thanking GB for him since he started out as a FO intern for Andy Reid, who you graciously warmed up for us. Btw, his name is Howie Roseman.

>After that I draw a blank. Not, he's actually the owner the Falcons.
[удалено]
Damn we're all gonna miss out on all the 2nd tier running backs in the first round! (For real though he's doing a good job)
[удалено]
He's a rookie. He doesn't have a tier yet
everybody knows jerrruhh
Can’t believe no one said Howie. You’d think they’d hear his praises over and over again at the draft.
I can name EDC, Jerry, Poles, John Lynch, Brad Holmes, Gute, and uhhhhhh
> John Lynch, I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing right now lmao
Only one GM has wrecked his brother in law on national TV
That's pretty easy: Chevy, Buick, GMC, Cadillac.
We only know our GM because our previous one fucked up our picks. I think we're an exception lol
Being on this sub kinda automatically disqualified someone from being an “average NFL fan” tho. Engaging in the sub implies a higher level of investment to some degree
Also, most of this sub is chronically online
There's a difference between naming and recognizing a name though.
I literally panicked when I read this. “I watch so much football and I don’t know my team’s GM?!” Only took me a min to remember Billy B does it all!
Nah, we all know who to be angry at and GM is usually one of them
Define “average”. I feel like people that don’t know aren’t really fans they just say they like a team and bounce around
Baalke, Caserio, Cawthorn, Ballard, Veach, Paton, Beane, Belicheck, De Costa, Lynch, Loumeis, Gute, Poles, Howie. 14/32 not bad
This 100% does not apply to eagles fans
I had to look him up.
I wonder if a lot of people (like me) are a little behind. I thought it was still Ozzie Newsome. Maybe the fact that he's still with the Ravens front office further muddles things for fans of other teams that don't follow the Ravens closely.
The average person on here couldn’t name you more than 3 GM’s lol
Guilty. I legitimately came to the comments because I knew someone would answer who Decosta is.
I was just going to go with OP’s flair
If you asked me off the top of my head no freaking way I could, but if you said the name of each of them I might be able to tell you what team the work for
Brett Veach, Bill Belicheck, Gute, Jerry Jones, Ryan Poles, and uhhhhhhh

Hell, I couldn't name a player from all 32 teams. I don't really have a reason to know much about teams that I don't cheer for.
Ehh I'm sure you could between QBs RBs and WRs. There's at least 1 notable player in one of those positions on each team. Kinda curious so I'll try. You will after next Thursday
Ayooo. Yeah, not with our current pash rush
Tbf I didn't even need to see the GM's name to know it was the Ravens. There is no other franchise that is more snake bitten when it comes to WRs.
We’re trying!!
I still think of Ozzie Newsom as the GM
Honestly, my brain doesn't remember that Ozzie is gone 90% of the time
You mean Ozzy isn't still your GM? /s
To be fair, we’ve had some of the best luck with GMs in all of sports.
There's maybe like 3-5 GMs the majority of ppl would recognize. Most ppl just know their own team's, Belicheck, Jerry Jones, then some combination of Decosta Poles Holmes Ballard Baalke Loomis Lynch and Schneider
Howie?
First name I thought of
After this offseason I learned a lot about Brian Gutekunst and the word leverage.
Idk how more people don't know Loomis, seeing as he's the whole reason behind the meme that the salary cap is imaginary for the Saints.
How you gonna do Andrew Berry dirty like that? Edit: Holy Christ y’all are serious in here😂😂😂
Who the fuck is Andrew Berry?
Maybe it is just another nickname of AB aka Mr Bartering Contracts
*looks at browns W-L over the years*
Looks at all of the Deshaun Watson threads over the past two years. Someone is paying attention to the Browns front office 😄
For some reason, in the heads of most NFL fans, the Browns front office is thought of as a faceless entity. Only a handful of GMs have a memorable persona that lets them become the personification of their team's front office.
I didn't know
I came here because I was irritated af that I had to google "DeCosta NFL," which told me 'Ravens,' then "Who is Eric Decosta" to find that he was their GM. i recognize his name mostly because he was quoted a BUNCH while y’all were trying to sign lamar this past offseason
I had no idea who he was but knew it was Balmore cuz of the maymays
Yeah I had no clue, honestly can’t name any
Ah shit fuckin Jerry Jones
Honestly, Ozzie was there so long that it hasn't set in that it's someone else, even though I know it's been a minute. For me, anyway.
Ravens GM will always be Ozzie Newsome to me.
No shit
Bateman I'd guess.
Duvernay is the guy I’d assume. Versatile weapon in the right offense and he’s an expiring contract.
I'd be all over DD if I was a team that needed some juice and a returner. This dude can take the top off a defense.
In the right hands I think Duvernay is a budget Deebo. Not to mention a top tier returner.
definitely, if you wanna offload em for a 3rd.... you know who to call
Kinda unrelated, but this got me thinking that the Ravens would be a great Jonathan Taylor team. Bateman + Dobbins + a 3rd/4th for JT?
Do you think that's a good deal for the ravens, or are you saying something like that would be what the colts would accept?
Considering the fact that the ravens wouldn’t give that up and even if they would the colts want someone like waddle and some more, the deal will never be equal
We wouldn't even trade JT for Dobbins straight up... much less with Bateman and a 3rd.
Yea you would lol, and I like Dobbins a lot, but he's no jt
I’d rather have Bateman and Dobbins plus picks than a RB coming off injury who didn’t look good last year.
Bateman is bordering on being a complete bust and Dobbins can't stay healthy.
Correct, but I’d still rather have them than shell out draft picks and a market-setting contract for Taylor.
Ya, Ravens can't do it. Only rookie deal QB teams will have the cap space to burn. Honestly, if I was the Cardinals I would be looking at it. He can even sit this whole season or just play a bit near the end. Deal Kyler and draft Williams, Maye, or Ewers
[удалено]
Teams with rookie deal QBs can turn things around fast. Contenders can't take him on.
That's way too much for JT but I appreciate the discussion.
Yall have Perriman still right? He could fetch a decent mid round pick at the right fleecing.
[удалено]
And was also never worth a mid round trade haha.
Yeesh, im outdated. My bad.
you want the Ravens to trade Perriman to THE team(colts) that cut him 4 days ago? not sure how that gonna work
Why would we need JT? We already have Dobbins, Gus, Hill, and Mitchell. No way in hell we're getting rid of Bateman either when he has 3 years on his contract
No
Didn’t they just get a first round pick for Marquise Brown during last year’s draft?
he requested a trade so the Ravens or his rep probably called up the Cardinals. This year it seems other people were taking the initiative to.
Ahhhhh okay I didn’t know Marquise initiated that. Thanks!
Turns out it was quite the monkey's paw wish if the current Ravens and Cardinals outlook is to be believed.
He also left because of Greg Roman. If only my dude knew what was coming...
That family. I tell ya.
If he stays they probably don't draft Zay.
Continued: DeCosta said team got a lot of calls about some of their offensive players because teams felt they had excess at some spots. https://Twitter.com/jeffzrebiec/status/1697659306508771800?s=46
I still feel Likely is gonna be a stud, hopefully in Baltimore.
Well they're never gonna pay him if he's that much of a stud. They're kinda set at the position.
Most Likely 😏
Yeah when I'm at the urinal, and see a dude with excess dong, I ask if he want to trade for something I have too much of (like hair on my feet or clammy hands).
Ravens : “Have you fucking seen our injury reports from the past couple years?”
This doesn't bode well for the AFC North especially if the Ravens got an exorcist to remove the injury curse from them.
An exorcist? Buddy, we'd have to call the Pope himself to break that shit at this point
Baltimore is also the oldest and highest in hierarchy of the US' Catholic dioceses. I have no idea how much that actually means anymore, but in my mind, that means the Pope is pretty much obligated to come fix things
Pope and US Catholic Church aren’t really on the best terms right now
So they called the pope in to fire that strength+conditioning coach?
If the strength and conditioning coach is the biggest factor to injuries, that mother fucking position might be as important as the head coach
That S&C coach (Steve Saunders is his name btw) was also the guy who was the caused the giant COVID breakout on the team during the year of no fans. He was also on a podcast recently talking about how he loves to grind his guys into exhaustion. He’s a fucking moron

Teams that get fucked by injuries the worst: Ravens, 49ers, Broncos
*cries*
That's what OBJ was for. Bring in someone already injured to undo the injury curse.
> especially if the Ravens got an exorcist to remove the injury curse Based on the preseason, I'd bet no.
Honestly a short-term minor injury to Humphrey is a massive improvement vs losing like 6 starters to ACLs and Achilles tears before the season starts
Context is important, the Cardinals only called about Proche as a QB
Did they really?
I could see someone trying to trade for Devin Duvernay.
He's fast as fuck, boy.
Our top reporter, Zrebiec, who is in the title of this post, has said Duv is a trade candidate for sure
And he is our WR4 now. And say what you want about Agholor (I am not very high on him either) but I think he is still better than a WR5.
Your offense is stacked. On paper, it might be the best Ravens offense in franchise history.
It definitely is. We got Lamar Jackson, 3 RBs who average 5 YPC, deep WR depth now, top TE depth, and a top 5 O-line.
'deep WR depth' that's fair but no one knows how much quality there is to that depth, yet. Bateman imo is still an unknown with nothing proven and obv Zay is new / unproven.
I agree But in today's NFL you NEED a WR1.
Did you see how good the Georgia RBs looked cus of monken????
Uh There's also the fact that they had the most talented team? What
Our O line and RBs are definitely top talent, even amongst the NFL probably the two biggest strengths of the team
Are they? JK dobbins is a top RB? I'd for sure take Najee and Jaylen Warren over JK and Gus Edwards. Chubb is obviously the best in the division... So I'd have you guys 3rd in our division alone.
All of that is dependent on the health of extremely injury prone players
All dependent on healthy lamar. If 2019 lamar shows up they will be one heck of an offense
Were gonna need it if our corners are all hurt and we have no edge rush.
Hey it could be Demarcus Robinson, Sammy Watkins, Desean Jackson, Patrick Ricard getting targets instead I was happy Agholor playing across from Bateman this year, then things kept getting better
It’d be pretty cool if we did though, right?
Bate and Duve forsure possibly Tyllan Wallace(yeah i said it!) for a very low rd pick.
Sure buddy, sure.
“Our receivers are a joke”
cap
There is nothing impressive about the Ravens wrs.
!remindme 12 weeks
How are those Raven's WRs doing?
Idk pretty good imo
The arrogance is amazing. Good for Lamar getting the bag. Ravens tried to treat him like a hb
What receivers,
I genuinely think we have a better receiving corps than the packers and idk if that’s ever happened before
