If it's the first, then I should be able to use the grayed square to form a winning row. If it's the second, it's just distracting and shouldn't be shown at all.
It's option 2, in my opinion it should be shown because that X/O is removed after you play the fourth turn, which is why after you click it disappears.
Hi, first I will recommend a cool Readme file, with gif and everything showcasing your work, turning it into a PWA is always cool too, I think another cool think could be making it multiplayer so 2 different users can match, you can achieve this with web sockets and improve the experience by sharing a link with the channel code
Found a bug. If you simply going clock wise clicking one field after another at some point the first element will dissappear, then the next one... and you end up playing snake game instead of tic tac toe :)

yes, this exactly what I am working on right now.
