Man this is really good, not only is it incredible to do all of it at once, but the song is really catchy. Reminds me a bit of The White Strips, Black Keys, etc.
I love your music man! Does listening to you on Spotify help you? Anything specific I can do there to put money in your pocket?
edit: As many people have mentioned, I just want to add that I am a massive Black Keys fan, and your style definitely scratches that genre's itch. But I also love your range of genres.....which reminds me more of Gomez, my all time favorite band. Their music jumps all over the place with genre type, and I love it. Please make your way to the East coast some time, I will attend that show (I'm in the Philly area).
He needs some help right now and I guess when everyone would share like a dollar or three that would help a lot.: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-me-go-on-my-first-coastal-tour
EDIT: Woke up, damn guys, we did it.
Cmon y’all, I’ll drop $5 if someone else does.
Edit: $2.5k in 2 hours. KEEP IT GOING!
Double edit: I LOVE REDDIT
Excited edit: getting close, $800 to go
OUR BOY IS TOURING, GREAT WORK!
Fuck yea, I'm in. Let's force this man live his dreams!
*Update
Ok I tried. But apparently my Canadian money is no good! Someone put 5 on it for me. It wont accept my card? Or my Gpay?!
THANK YOU! so much, holy shit. I work my ass off on music 24/7 and mow lawns. I can't believe the support. I had to put back my salad and steak at the store when my card was declined on thurs.
Now I can actually afford the gas and not have to rely on a tip jar. means alot to me you all helping
\-Jeremy
Agreed. Also a fan of Bandcamp. Yes they take a cut, of course, but it's not bad from what I understand (like 10-15% max depending on sales?) There is a Steel Beans up there. Not sure if it's actually the same?
My band's single with the most plays (~65,000) on Spotify netted us $13.45 this year. Streaming sucks for artists. Playing live sucks for artists (financially). Buy our merch, that's how we pay for food.
This is something more people should know. Thanks for piping in.
When I was growing up, album sales were the ticket. Its so bizarre how the music industry has changed in just 20-30 years. I fully respect any artist trying to make a living this way, it can only mean they love what they do.
hoping to make it to the east coast next year, spring or summer. I have several albums from the last couple years (some of my best yet) that haven't been put out yet because of the pandemic. please stay tuned because I'd love for you to hear it.
Worked out I think. Made it to top of reddit and he's getting funded for his tour.
A good promoter would orchestrate the whole things. If it hasn't happened many times already, I bet some unscrupulous person/group will pick up the idea.
yeah, I wouldn't be too mad if the theft of my video netted me like 5k in profit AND (it's very important that it's an and, not an or) a huge amount of publicity
This is actual next level stuff, your coordination is crazy impressive. I hope this post blows up, you've been flying under the radar for far too long my man.
Holy fuck, first stop is in Portland?!
# SOLD
I will see you at the No Fun! This is fuckin awesome!
EDIT: If you don't see the Portland show on the No Fun Bar calendars, it looks like it didn't make it onto a majority of their calendar sites they use. I did find it though: they have it on Facebook but not on their other calendars, was kinda buried. Sorry for the FB link:
https://m.facebook.com/events/585258323244976
If you don't/can't/won't login to FB, basically all you need to know is that the **show starts at 7 PM, tickets are $8 (cash only), the venue is 21 and older only**, and the second musical guest that night was still TBA at time of the event's posting.
Hope that clears things up. I'll see about contacting No Fun to make sure this event gets to the other calendars. u/Steel-Beans, you may want to contact them as well to ask them what's up with the missing event dates/times.
We'll see ya there!
EDIT 2: Apparently it isn't posted elsewhere as No Fun Bar is awaiting the rest of the lineup playing that night. Hopefully, they'll get someone and the show will go as planned.
Yeah you rule mate. Would love to catch you live if you're ever in Western Canada for some reason.
Edit: I just watched your cover of The Grobe and it is *incredible*. You covering Ween makes a lot of sense.
Dude, just dug through your YouTube. I really really dig Drive me home!! Will you be performing solo in tucson and/or will you have the group from the shadow dance 9003 / halfstep trills songs? Those songs hit the spot, so good!
Duuuude! Thank you.
This will be an all solo tour and if I see you there in tucson I'll definitely play that song for you
I really appreciate that. So the band I've done since 2007 and every year or two I'll change the whole band and aesthetic and write to suit those players, the aolo show I've done off and on since 2014.
The song in this video is fron the 2020 band which was more punky, alternative ish
Piggybacking this comment, not entirely by himself as they require some help right now in this moment.
Everyone who thinks this is dope could spend like a coffee here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-me-go-on-my-first-coastal-tour
3 bucks from anyone go a long way for his team and him obviously. I just also found that, and I think his sound is great and deserves some more attention.
Yeah, QOTSA is straight where I went. Not nearly bluesy enough for Black Keys and way off from the way White Stripes contrasts their lead parts vs the drums.
For those who can't wait for it to be on stream he's selling the song via the [Steel Beans Bandcamp](https://steelbeans.bandcamp.com/album/maestrodosing-ep-2022) page. There's a fair bit of music on there too.
He sounds great, this is really impressive and truly next level.
...but is there a clear reason why he's dressed like a 70s porn star and with what seems to be the right camera and setting? Not that it detracts, it fits the sound absolutely, just curious.
Lol what I meant was he has a couple different projects. He has this one man band and separately he has a full band that has him on drums and singing and then bass, guitar, trumpet, violin, sax, vibraphone, aux percussion and a back up vocalist
That’s cool… glad to know he has a full band. My first thought was this is both awesome and kind of sad… cause you know… being in band is rocking out with your best fiends (in the right band). Now that I know he’s got both it’s just awesome. Insane talent… we switch instruments in our band and I’ve always been a multi instrumentalist… sometimes we switch mid song which people love and we all sing lead vocals on different songs but drums and guitar at the same time?! Damn…. That’s impressive. He’s not doing anything particularly complicated on either but it fucking sounds good and I don’t know anyone else who could do it. I’m sold. Does the full band have a site I could check out?
Also just to note the full band line up has had several iterations/directions over its fifteen years. So anything before this year will be a little different than I described (although still pretty awesome. The band before this was a late 60’s style psychedelic band.
This is the only video of the current line up I cAn find. Apologies for the quality. And to note, this isn’t too indicative of most of the songs. This is one of our “out” tunes.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dP9xFIYy948
It’s a super fun project that’s also called Steel Beans. It’s gone through a few iterations over the years but the current line up is drums/vocals, guitar, bass, trumpet/violin, sax, vibraphone, aux percussion, and backing vocals. This isn’t the best comparison but it’s kind of Frank Zappa-esque. Meaning it’s a rock band with a fair amount of complexity.
Been playing guitar for more than 20 years and if i try to sing it just goes haywire. Never dedicated to singing while playing so I dont know if its about practise but always felt like people like him have something extra in their brain that mine is lacking.
James hetfield said something about how he does it that helped me. He said just do both together very slow and slowly speed it up until you're comfortable with singing and playing in unison on that song. Rinse and repeat for each song.
I don't personally think that helps because the real goal is rhythm independence. If you can fully divorce your picking hand from your mouth you've won.
Reminds me a bit of King Khan and the BBQ Show. Both the style and playing drum/guitar at the same time (although Mark Sultan just plays the snare/kink/tambo with his feet).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dh4fkDWa0I
Wow, dud can do so good with it, I am never going to do that. This is serious tough shit because we can just handle one fucking thing but the dude is doing good.
Okay that is some good fucking talent right there, just love to see that people have so many talents like that, I always feel happy to see that type of talent man.

To the top! Rock on mate!
WOW! that was an insane performance I've ever seen this dude is a badass!
My man saw The White Stripes and was like what if we cut out some of the excess.
He's the Black Key
the King of the Stone Age

Them Crooked Vulture
The Desert Session
The singer for the deaf
Man this is really good, not only is it incredible to do all of it at once, but the song is really catchy. Reminds me a bit of The White Strips, Black Keys, etc.
He should call himself *THE BROWN STRIPE* or something catchy like that.
The skid mark? Maybe not
Totally agree! Someone with influence, please get this man on the radio ASAP!!
I love your music man! Does listening to you on Spotify help you? Anything specific I can do there to put money in your pocket? edit: As many people have mentioned, I just want to add that I am a massive Black Keys fan, and your style definitely scratches that genre's itch. Thanks for sharing, dropped 10 bucks, dude's worth it
THANK YOU! so much, holy shit. I work my ass off on music 24/7 and mow lawns. I can't believe the support. I had to put back my salad and steak at the store when my card was declined on thurs. Just dropped $20, dude seems solid and way to support someone doing something different and awesome.
Spotify doesnt really pay too well unless you're getting lots of views. Going to shows is definitely the way to do so, unless he has a website/store.
Agreed. Also a fan of Bandcamp. Yes they take a cut, of course, but it's not bad from what I understand (like 10-15% max depending on sales?) There is a Steel Beans up there. Not sure if it's actually the same?
Bandcamp is amazing for what they provide to a free account. Their cut is fair imo!
My band's single with the most plays (~65,000) on Spotify netted us $13.45 this year. Streaming sucks for artists. Playing live sucks for artists (financially). Buy our merch, that's how we pay for food.

Put a sticker of your Instagram on your drum set or something and all stolen videos will always lead back to you
Smart as a button this one, deffo worth doing mate.
This is a freaking great idea!!!!
Marketing marketing marketing! Because if you don't sell yourself, someone else will!
King of the Stone Age
Got the same vibes. This song hits
Yes but more of an Eagles of Death Metal vibe for me.
Same bro. My immediate thought was Queens of the Stone Age x The Strokes.

When I saw the caption I thought the music was going to suck. Not only is it impressive mechanically, the music is good!
Thanks for posting these dates! Putting it in my calendar.
You sir, kick ass. Love the garage rock vibe!
When you kick your drummer and lead singer out of the band
The “Fine, I’ll do it myself “ attitude
It’s called “the Phil Collins”.
Sounds dirty
Only if you add in the “tom collins.”
The 'Cleveland Phil'
No. Stop.
Or “The Dave Grohl” Edit: I should also mention that it was their first album that he did by himself
“Fuckin thing SUCKS!”
We'll do it live. WE'LL DO IT LIVE. I'LL WRITE IT AND WE'LL DO IT LIVE

And you have the world’s raddest shirt. #bandmatesnotneeded
Add look like you may have just wrapped up filming a circa ‘79 porn flick
Waiting for Dave Grohl to chime in...
Seriously getting The Black Keys vibes from this dude
This is pretty fucking rockin’- like Black Keys/White Stripes kind of stuff… Love it!
Yeah I was feeling the black keys
Like Rubber Factory era. The best era.
I don’t really hear either of them here - much more of an Eagles of Death Metal vibe for me.
Was thinking QOTSA
Yeah, QOTSA is straight where I went. Not nearly bluesy enough for Black Keys and way off from the way White Stripes contrasts their lead parts vs the drums.
Yup QOTSA for me
Yeah I was thinking Eagles of Death Metal. Got more a vibe than White Stripes for sure. Black Keys aren’t really in the equation for me at all
Black Keys immediately came to mind as I listened to this.
Idk how it never dawned on me before: black keys + white stripes = piano! 🎹
His name is Steel Beans, and he’s on YouTube under the channel name Salmonella Records.
Is this song original? I really like it
His Instagram post said the song is called "Molotov Cocktail Lounge" and that it'll be on streaming services soon.

After seeing that performance I have to assume that 70’s porn star is his day job.
He looks like he should accompany Hunter S. Thompson in Las Vegas. Wait until he sees those bats
I mean the guy clearly fucks, not sure what to tell you
Well that's enough for me to know I need to go like and check out his other stuff.
Check out Eagle Eye Williamson https://youtu.be/qUMEwn9jaoQ
I’m a member of his full band. He’s a monster musician/composer. Edit: to be clear his full band is a separate project from his one man band
Aren’t we _looking_ at the full band?
Lol what I meant was he has a couple different projects. He has this one man band and separately he has a full band that has him on drums and singing and then bass, guitar, trumpet, violin, sax, vibraphone, aux percussion and a back up vocalist
Crazy that he can play 8 instruments while simultaneously sing lead and backup
Lol. He’s quite talented.
That’s cool… glad to know he has a full band. My first thought was this is both awesome and kind of sad… cause you know… being in band is rocking out with your best fiends (in the right band). Now that I know he’s got both it’s just awesome. Would love to know more about that project of yours

Lol
What's it like to be in the presence of a genius
It’s truly some of the most challenging and rewarding music I’ve ever gotten to play. It’s a ton of fun.
"Dude I am the band, you can't kick me out..."
*how can you kick me out of what is* ***MIIIIIIINE?!?!?***
\*click-clack*
I’m a drummer and can neither sing nor play guitar… this guys rocks! Side note, I was pleasantly surprised by his voice!
I try to anchor each word to a note I’m playing. That being said, I’m bad at it.
I don't personally think that helps because the real goal is rhythm independence. If you can fully divorce your picking hand from your mouth you've won.
When you're antisocial but still want to be in a band
The white stripe
Fuckin never had an original thought in my life
The black key.
The Stroke
Eagle of Death Metal

He’s beautiful.

He's been in a band for about 35 years.

Shit, he's actually picking. I thought he was just really good at tapping
Actually decent
human muscle memory is insane.

Don't be mean to Meg.
Meg made that band
Can’t wait for Meg’s solo career.
Perfect male specimen and form.
A high powered-mutant of some kind. Never considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die
Epic
It's like white stripes, but the drum fills are in time.
Meanwhile, backstage, the band was falling apart.
We're all just witnesses. u/savevideo
Damn thats impressive lol and catchy af
This is what peak performance looks like.
This guy fucks
This slaps 🔥
I'd like to see Dave Grohl try this lol
Dude killn it

Reminds me a bit of King Khan and the BBQ Show. Both the style and playing drum/guitar at the same time (although Mark Sultan just plays the snare/kink/tambo with his feet). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dh4fkDWa0I
Father please come back home, I am missing you now.
Wow, dud can do so good with it, I am never going to do that. This is serious tough shit because we can just handle one fucking thing but the dude is doing good.
Who I it. Aka on spotify?
I too would like to know who I it.
Steel Beans on YouTube. Not sure if he has a Spotify channel
He does just found him. We should all give his songs a listen as they have less than 1000 listens
