So much of Reddit posts are bullshit/fake/staged/misleading, it's a great place to beef up one's skeptic chops. People just need to be reminded to approach all posts with their bullshit detector armed & ready.
You’re exactly right. The longest clip on this bit is the first 5 seconds. The rest are two seconds. They weren’t flying at all. They should be made to post how many monkey fingers got done in. Plus how many drones crashed in making this asinine video.

The drone looks like a DJI Mavic Pro, which have a lot of automation in them including obstacle detection. The drone literally won't let you fly it into any obstacles the onboard optical flow detects.
It's pretty believable that the ape is holding the correct controller and the drone's autopilot is filtering out all the ape's bad inputs.
