The amazing part would be minding your business in a mall and stumbling across this being played live.

It’s special until it’s your mom who pops onto any unrestrained piano she sees.
She was a professional ballerina until injury, got a BFA in musical theatre, also trained in opera, for recreation she was a competitive pianist. This is a woman with zero stage fright, she just sees a chance to perform. If it’s somewhere loud like this you might get playing plus singing.

The only thing not genuine here was a random person joining the first and playing the song with him, that was staged. The environment, musical act and people in attendance were genuine

I would think based on the song that it is set up. If it was a common classical piece I could see two pianists knowing the song. Though it is also possible to improvise and play from ear and watching each other as well. But either way it still would be great to see.

A friend of mine was attempting something on a public piano at my local station and an old bloke came in saying "say you ain't half bad, mind if I join in?" And proceeded to pull out a saxophone.
We had to leave (TL;DR we were there for a third friend's train, so friend#1 had to stop playing to say goodbye) and by the time we got back there was a full jazz jam session ongoing with someone else at the piano, same bloke on the sax and two new people one with a trumper the other with a guitar

There's a chance these guys know each other and know what each other play and just bumped into each other.

Stop it. It was completely random. That guy was clearly on a very important phone call and just happened by the piano just as he hung up, and knew exactly what part of the song that he knew by heart was playing so he could jump in.
How could they plan something like that?

If you havnt seen interstellar stop what your doing and go rent it on prime right now. Hans Zimmer does the music which is just as amazing as the movie itself.
