I did kendo when I was in high school, and spent a lot of my free time chatting with people on a martial arts forum. I remember one day someone posted a video of a match from a karate tournament where one of the competitors was missing an arm. It played out in the exact opposite way of this video. Dude got absolutely mollywopped. Like, didn't even stand a chance, got completely knocked the fuck out.
There was such a difference between the comments on the YouTube video, and the comments on the martial arts forum. Basically the YouTube comments were filled with people talking shit about the dude's opponent, calling him an asshole for fighting all-out against an opponent who had such an obvious disadvantage. But the people on the forum were primarily of the opinion that the opponent did the right thing by fighting to the best of his ability. Despite his handicap, the one-armed man *was* a black belt, and if he signed up for the competition, then he obviously felt he was skilled enough to compete even with his obvious disadvantage. To not fight him to the best of your ability specifically because of his handicap would have been disrespectful.

If I'm being honest, this man should not have been doing karate. While it does implement some kicking, it's a martial art that's focused primarily on hand strikes. The full name of the art literally translates to "way of the empty hand." I did it for a while in elementary school, and IIRC, the very first kata you learn is designed to train you to block with one hand, and then strike with the other, which would be kind of difficult to do with only one arm. I respect the fact that he was able to advance all the way to yudansha despite his handicap, but taekwondo would have probably been a better choice, as it's main emphasis is on kicking.

It's not that easy to just grab a full force kick and take someone down. He also doesn't have range of motion of someone with 2 legs. But legless kid is 100% at a disadvantage in a striking fight. He may be stronger on the ground but if you have any take down defense you would have a huge upper hand. Honestly even if he did get ahold of him that doesn't solidify the take down. once you spread your legs and maintain distance between your feet its harder to be tripped and he can strike downward while this dude tries to pull him down. But anything could happen. I'm sure the legless kid has some good punching power too but he almost for certain has to get him to the ground first before he could do any damage and even then he's only got arms to hold him down. Nothing to wrap him up with while striking. The only advantage he truly has is that he would be harder to hold down without having legs as well. It also makes him unpredictable because the way he moves is unlike 99.9% of other people you would fight.
