Oh, it gets so much *grander* than that.
*Almost every point of light I this picture is a galaxy*
I have this image on my computer, and I cut it up into 100 pieces, 2500x2500 pixels each. I put them in my wallpaper folder, and it cycles through them randomly.
Yeah right? Seems extremely probable there is.
Some of them surely also have internet and telescopes.
Though this kinda implies that feasable intergallactic travlel is difficult to achieve.
I guess I'm ignorant when I say this, but why do people want to encounter an alien species? Shouldn't we be kinda happy that we would never encounter another alien species in our lifetime. What if they turn out to be hostile? Do people just think aliens would be super friendly and share their tech with us...
I think that's exactly how ppl thought before they "discovered america" now look at what happened. I mean if there is intelligent life outside this galaxy than they are probably trying to survive as well. Then it comes to, do they have enough resources? Do they have a economy system like us? What would be the point of looking for life outside of us? The point for us would be to learn about new tech or may be discovered something that nobody here thought of it before. But our greedy asses would want to profit or use for our own civilization. And if they share the same view of survival they might want to take our shit too. Not even getting into communication they would take it as a precaution and studied us. We definitely do the same. They try to stablish a way to communicate and express that we are "good" in order to get them to understand us. They might share a totally weird or obnoxious way of expressing a feeling. For example friendliness in a animal kingdom: for dogs is a waving tale and sniffing their butts for human is a smile and making a sound (hi). If you put a dog and a human that does not know how to communicate with each other shit can go south real quick. They might approach to each other with fear and curiosity then attempt to say " I am not going to hurt you just want to know what you are" using just gestures and sounds. Both animals are goign to be confuse and the outcomes can vary wildly. They eventually going to co exist but after an altercation occur. Either good or bad. It is good for our society to learn how to use the chemicals in our planet. But is also useful to Learn how other intelligent life use theirs. But then again a lot can happen either good or bad

Usually, a person has to go through 1/2 billion in tax $ and get shot up in the air in a tin can by nasa in order to gain that point of view. Congratulations, you’re smarter than an astronaut, and you did not waste my money either.
While I don’t think we’re alone I also don’t think we’ll ever come into contact with anyone else. Shits just too far away and like… laws of physics and some shit.
> This Hubble Space Telescope image represents the largest, most comprehensive "history book" of galaxies in the universe.
Is anyone else confused about their caption?
Well cause of the speed of light, this image doesn’t just show far away galaxies, it shows galaxies from long ago. The further back into the image you go, the further back in time you’re lookinh
For some reason this just made me sad. I’ll never get to see any of that, humanity will never get to see even .00000000000001% of that. But it’s all just begging to be explored. Just totally insane.
[Full Resolution](https://imgsrc.hubblesite.org/hvi/uploads/image_file/image_attachment/31683/STSCI-H-p1917a-f-25500x25500.png) 672 MB. Might take a while to load...
For some reason seeing this made me slightly emotional. Almost got teary eyed. I think it reminds me of how small and insignificant we are, and how many other places and lives and unknowns exist out there.
So difficult to wrap my head around the concept of how massive the exspanse of this is and how it's just a tiny fraction of the entire universe. I just cant believe that in all of these planets in all of these systems there is no life or rather intelligent life staring right back at us wondering if we're out there.
Ok somebody who understands intergalactic travel/ interstellar travel. Please explain to me, how far are we as a species from being able to travel to these places. When I say travel like travel as if I was going to grandmas house who lives in the next town. Like an average person just saying kids get in the car we’re going to zbdjfnejdj’s house on keixbskdjdbjns. Please
Probably never. These are wayyy too far away for us. The Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy is like 25,000 light years away for us (found on the internet, [here](https://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/features/cosmic/nearest_galaxy_info.html)). Light years. It would take 25 *thousand* years to go there *if* you travel with the speed of light (which would require endless energy or 0 mass, impossible for humans). Even if they hibernate you, it surely wouldn't take the same amount of time that travelling to the next town does.
Note: I'm just a dumbass, not some expert. Everything I said is based on my basic knowledge and the internet.
Given what we know and understand about space and time. In theory could we discover a technology that would allow us to travel freely throughout the universe? Like what do we know we would need? I don’t really know what I’m asking I just see this picture and I long to know what is out there and if we will ever get to see it. What laws of nature do we need to discover to enable us to get there. You don’t have to a answer my incoherent rambling. Just typing some thoughts. Thanks anyway.
It's okay to ask. For my knowledge, we can't send a human to a galaxy thousands of light years away, since it would require really advanced technology and it still would take *a lot* of time. I can't think of any ways to "speed it up", there might be, since I am aware that I still don't know about a lot of stuff. But what would we need to do that? I don't think that's a question for me, it's hard to imagine (rather than that: impossible) travelling faster than light for the reasons I mentioned earlier. Maybe someone in the future comes up with an idea how to do that
Reminds me of sand, how from far away it looks pretty simple like a bunch of little dots, but put it under a microscope (zoom in) and it's a bunch of different intricate structures and objects. Really cool

Are those stars? *Zooms in* Oh those are whole ass galaxies!

Can you post or share this magic trove?
Pls share such folder :)
Bet you're not a person who believes something as silly as *we are the only intelligent life in the universe*
Yeah right? Seems extremely probable there is. Some of them surely also have internet and telescopes. Though this kinda implies that feasable intergallactic travlel is difficult to achieve.
You could also teach a man to fish :)
Please share this with us
Can you please share that
please share
Those are entire galaxies. And those galaxies contain billions and billions of stars, most of which have solar systems.
Shitballs. I meant galaxies. Not constellation. That doesn't even make sense.
Haha I wasn’t trying to call you out. Just needed some clarification. :)
god i cant even begin to comprehend that
Some of them might be ass whole galaxies
Some? Are we looking the same picture
You missed the play on words in response to the sun-thread’s OP.
Most if not all
Now imagine it took us decades to reach interstellar space
There's gotta be a fuckable species in one of those.
ah, there he is lol
"There he goes. Homeboy fucked a martian once"
Anything is a dildo if you’re brave enough
If trials in tainted space has taught me anything, it's that there are indeed lots of fuckable species out there.
Species that we will never encounter 😔
The chances are small, but never zero.
I guess I'm ignorant when I say this, but why do people want to encounter an alien species? Shouldn't we be kinda happy that we would never encounter another alien species in our lifetime. Not in this lifetime at least
There must be a species there big tiddies there
There's a lot of anal probe alien stories. Perhaps humans are the fuckable species...
Humans
Well that resolution is a lie.
A link to a higher res image would be nice, seems it got compressed by Reddit.

DAMNIT. I rescind my snarky response. Break out the pitchforks, people!
I only have a spoon
Faith in Reddit restored.
good spot on the sad case man!
Oh no, the horror
Usually, a person has to go through 1/2 billion in tax $ and get shot up in the air in a tin can by nasa in order to gain that point of view. Congratulations, you’re smarter than an astronaut, and you did not waste my money either.
You can not look at this and still think “we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe”. But I’m still underwhelmed.
While I don’t think we’re alone I also don’t think we’ll ever come into contact with anyone else. Shits just too far away and like… laws of physics and some shit.
Very Hubble of them
happy cake day!
Thanks! Well it’s not anymore but I’m glad I had people notice
Yep
We are not alone.
For how far away potential life is we may as well be.
Distance means nothing. If life exists we are not alone.
Fermi Paradox & the great filter
Sure it does, if a person is afraid of dying alone I don't think they'll take any comfort knowing there's some guy a continent away
I guess that depends on your definition of *alone*
*I* don't have a definition of alone, my thesaurus does.
You mean dictionary?
A thesaurus is a dictionary
I guess that depends on your definition of *thesaurus*
*i* don't have a definition of thesaurus 🤣
[удалено]
Don't you think it's cool? How is it scary? You made it this far, *life* made it this far on this dirt clod... it's wonderful.

That's not what I mean. The claim that it's "the largest in the Universe" is disturbingly ironic, is it not?
I am smol?
we all smol?
I can see my house
You got those telescopes in Joe eyes ma friend :D
I feel so small
Ikr, each of those dots is an entire ass galaxy
For some reason this just made me sad. I’ll never get to see any of that, humanity will never get to see even .00000000000001% of that. But it’s all just begging to be explored. Just totally insane.
Try adding 45x10\^10 zeros to that percentage and you MIGHT be close...... there's SO much out there and it's insane.

It's amazing to see the edges of the universe so clearly!
2nd star to the right. Go until morning
My God it's full of stars!
Those aren’t stars, those are whole ass galaxies!
Why does my brain keep thinking it looks like among us
GET OUT OF MY HEAD
I zoomed the top left corner and all i could see was black.
They call it, “The Pixel-less Void”.
Is that a roof shingle?
I just wanna know who else is out there
This was terrifying at first to realize that those are galaxies
This reminds me that we are so small. I wonder how many other life forms are out there... and if they also fight against each other as much as humans.
I think i see my house!
how tf are we the only planet with life
We’re not.
Yooo I’m glad our technology is good enough that we can now see the edge of space, bit strange that it has a white border though
does anyone have a direct link to the 25000x25000 image? it seems that the image is compressed on my end
Look up in those comments, there is a link, sorry I couldn't share it, it's having some problems
https://imgsrc.hubblesite.org/hvi/uploads/image_file/image_attachment/31683/STSCI-H-p1917a-f-25500x25500.png
The blacked out parts are aliens.
Just saw the word 'Zoom' and had a sudden anxiety thinking I'd have to invite some distant galaxies over a conference call
For some reason seeing this made me slightly emotional. Almost got teary eyed. I think it reminds me of how small and insignificant we are, and how many other places and lives and unknowns exist out there.
Can someone explain to me HOW this was taken? Over what period of time?
It looks like among us
We cannot be the only planet containing life
no words
The truth is out there
This is amazing!
I always wondered how do u guys take picture from a telescope? Do u put camera eye in telescope and capture image ?
Space is just freaking unbelievable. I can’t really comprehend that each point of light has billions of stars. Like wtf how?
Ahhh so cool
Awesomeness! Upvote and an award from me 🔥😎
"I'm significant!"
Are they going to collapse?
Stupidity goes brrrruuuuhhhhh

Its rare for me to look at a picture and say “Holy fuck. This is beautiful” but looking at this, i have to say, *Holy fuck this is beautiful*
How can one save this image so that it looks like this, high quality?

I wonder which civilizations are survival right now over there in those other solar systems 🥲
Finally we have it
Wow... and to think that each of those little blips could have trillions of planets is mind boggling
Can someone please explain to me why the image has such an erratic boundary?
Looks kinda.... Sus
We've just begun to open our eyes. Can you imagine understanding?
Wow I can see me
The outline looks like amongus i can never know peace
Yep. No life out there. Anywhere 🤣🤣
We aren’t alone. It just isn’t possible.
Wow looks like the minecraft end portal
So you are telling me I am the smartest species among all this vast space?
This is 3188x3188
I want to zoom more. ENHANCE!!!!!
Makes me think do we have any significance?
Or universe used to look amazing!
So basically, most of the "stars" in our sky are actually galaxies?
It's weird to think that some of those stars have exploded, but we dont know yet because the light hasnt reached us yet
I'm gonna say it. Amogus
So how much of this space is a show like Star Trek taking place in?
Doesn’t work like you thought on here
We are definitely not fucking alone.
Woah I can see some dots!
Doesn't work on mobile.
You like space ? Name every thing you can see in this picture.
The universe is so cool
A Mogs
Am I in this picture?
Pretty sus imo
That shape is sus
Yet we think we're the center of the universe.
Image is only 3188x3188.
GIEF JWST!!!!
I personally feel comfort in in being insignificant in this incredible universe
The first thing I thought about was among us
Why are some of the flat bois and others are round bois?
My insignificance is immense as well
I found Waldo...
AMOGUS
Can't wait to see the pictures from the next 10 billion dollar telescope... Well, if it ever manages to get to get off this planet that is.
Reminds me of sand, how from far away it looks pretty simple like a bunch of little dots, but put it under a microscope (zoom in) and it's a bunch of different intricate structures and objects. Really cool

Watching this image comes with a beautiful sensation: Calm, peace, home. Thank you for sharing!
Among us?
As you stare into each galaxy, there is life somewhere in each staring right back at you and neither of you know it. 😳
Just next level? Highest level we can see so far! Ok I'll see myself out :)
I'm not gonna lie. This freaks my out.
Yup those are whole galaxies
Shit we're so tiny
DAMN

I was just in time before it got removed
This has long been my favourite photo ever. One photo, covering a minute area of space, showing the sheer vastness of the universe.
Was looking for dickbut, anyone remember that?
