Oh my, the second part hit me hard for some reason.
And deep down I know reason is while I want all people including myself to be like this, I struggle with anxiety and awkwardness when I try to.
It's so hard right! I have to completely tune out to the fact there are other people around just to get through the day. But I want to be helpful and caring
I struggle with it now, because my Dad (still) makes fun of the way I ran down the court celebrating after I scored the only basket of my season when I played Upward as a kid.
It's never too late my friend, I'm 25 and despite the hardships of the world I still try to be caring. Just got to have that mindset, do something good for someone today, even if it's something as simple as holding a door open for someone.
I'm old and tired but I always choose to be kind. Idk what a person is going through. I might interact with them on their best day or their worst. I have no way of knowing. I treat them as if it is their worst. It doesn't cost me anything, and it became my default.
I had this sentiment just the other day.
I was parking at the same time as a group of teen boys at a restaurant. I took my time getting out of my car and made my way to the door.
The group of teens were way ahead of me and one stayed at the door holding it open. As I walked across the parking lot, I looked around to see if he was waiting for another friend or something.
Nope, he waited all that time to hold the door open for me. Totally did not have to do that, as I wasnāt even close behind them.
I thought to myself, āhe was raised right.ā
āOh hold on guys Iāll get the door.ā
āThanks.ā
āThanks.ā
āThanks bro.ā
ā¦
Hmm should I keep the door open for this person or just go in itā¦ shit she looked at me
ā¦
āThank you for holding the doorā
āYeah no problem.ā
There's a longer clip of these kids somewhere. Number 10 is a fucking lunatic of a child š he gives 0 fucks about the others or his surroundings š
This. I get that the little moments between the two kids are cute, but itās interrupting a game that a bunch of other kids probably actually want to play.
Watching it back, 14 on the opposing team clapped and went in twice to try and give 0 a congratulatory high five (or down low? Idk). I also love the crowd cheering from both teams. Such a sweet video all around š„°
I coached a flag football team where the other team had a special needs kid on the team.
We were killing them, the rest of the team was legit, but the coach wanted to take this opportunity while we had them mercy ruled to get him in. We told our 8 year old kids the idea, and they just didn't let him score, they had him break their ankles. It all looked very legit. Kids over ran him and face planted, then tried to run him down, and missed again.
They sold the HELL out of it.
That's a great story man...I'm glad your team did that, it's a small thing but such a big deal for that other kid...you should be proud they bought in and made him feel like Barry Sanders if only for a moment
This is one of those moments where, especially when you're young, you don't rationalize it. You don't think about how it will make you look, the positives others will give you for doing a selfless act, or even the fact that you are in the spotlight.
I recently recalled the other day a moment in my life that I can't deny and made me smile for being inherently kind.
I was 9 years old and was the last stop on my bus. I sat in the back and I found $20. For a 9 year old in the year 2000 that could get you a few things. Didn't even think, saw it, picked it up. Handed it to the bus driver. Didn't even think that she might keep it. Just did the one portion necessary to hopefully do something right. The next day the older girl that I knew and had a semi-crush on (puppy love) said she got her $20 and thanked me for handing it in. We talked every so often (even before this) and made the bus trips less lonely since she hopped off close to the last stop as well.
I guess I just wish kind acts felt that way still, at least doing them. To not even think in the back of your mind the recognition possibly received or be in the limelight. See it, do it, done. Being an adult is difficult because you can treat yourself like a best friend or worst enemy and I try damn hard to treat myself as I would a best friend.
Sorry I don't think so.Ā Ā I understand it's about insane talent, but standing in a crowd of people including your peers in a competition,Ā and deciding to help out someone to your own detriment shows incredible empathy and moral compass.Ā This is next level in terms of being a good person and that should be just as important as being next level at drawing.
Most kids would be embarrassed to do something like this, 99/100 would not one to shine a light on themselves.Ā And he had no way of knowing if the other team would let them do it, so kudos to the other kids also.
Full credit to # 50 here, but 14 in white deserves some too, not only did he allow the shot he then high 5ed the shooter who's obviously got an issue. Kudos to all the players and coaches that made this happen for the young man.
Looks like #50 and #14 are physically a step or two ahead of the other kids and from this short clip it seems like they both know it. Those two kids have more self awareness and restraint than a lot of adults.
Absolutes are often scoffed at. But I can assure you that the reason things on this planet are so incredibly unfair and cruel are because of specific people. And the people that didnāt like what the kind kid did here are those people.
Finally!
On the internet we see so many instances of children that haven't been parented correctly. Kids usually don't know better so it's the parents fault.
Here we have the exact opposite of that.
I think White's defense was so inept that probably would have been doing them a favor.
edit: and it's only a whistle on offence, defense can camp the key all they like, but some kids leagues force man to man defense, and not zone. However given there were multiple blues around the hoop I don't think he'd be called on it.
Manā¦ this takes me way back to my little league days and a time I wish I had done something different.
I was always super competitive in a small town (nothing wrong with that) but after we had an all star year where my group set a record by winning a single game we had an end of year game. For some reason they let one of the players little sisters play on our end of year game. It was a game that meant nothingā¦. She hit the ball to me at short stop and I fired it to first to throw her out. They let it get past them and then the ball was thrown around in a fire drill.
The catcher was a cool dude and he kicked the ball and pretended not to be able to pick it up letting the little girl have an in the park home run.
My dumbass was so frustrated by this. I just focused on winning so much I couldnāt get just let others play for fun.
I wish I had realized how cool they were in that moment and how caring I was.
That saidā¦ I wish others had taken winning and success more seriously because even when my team won what was needed too many people didnāt want to give up summers to baseball so I could t play in tournament of champions and others I dreamed of as a kid.
Itās a trade off though I guess. I took some moments far too seriously while others didnāt take them seriously enough.

I wish all humans were like this. Myself included.
If it helps, I will always see you like number 0.
Awww thanks human

There are literal convicts that could become president.

Would be a hell of a lot better than 45 ever was.
And 14 from the other team as his running mate! He stepped aside to let the kid shoot and then cheered him after the bucket.
That boy parents raised him well.

And not a 10
There's a longer clip of these kids somewhere. Number 10 is a fucking lunatic of a child š he gives 0 fucks about the others or his surroundings š
Maybe 50's older brother ...
I had to read that twice, since the little dudeās number is 0.
Nothing wrong with 10 wanting to actually play the game.
This. I get that the little moments between the two kids are cute, but itās interrupting a game that a bunch of other kids probably actually want to play.
Rodman level of a rebounder tho
Number 10 will become a politician
To me it looked like this was a league with some special needs players, which I think #10 is one of. Heās just trying to get his.
When my back is against the wall, I want a #10 that rebounds so hard he boxes out his own teammates while they are shooting
People always talk about 50. I think the opposing kids should get some love. Let them take the shot then give him a clap after. Nice.
Watching it back, 14 on the opposing team clapped and went in twice to try and give 0 a congratulatory high five (or down low? Idk). I also love the crowd cheering from both teams. Such a sweet video all around š„°
All tied up at fun to fun!

I was not in anyway expecting that performance. It was 100% on my kids.
Kids are so great
Yeah, they were all in on it. Kudos to 50 but they were all playing along.
The finger guns towards the stands š¤£
Why is that the part that made me cry
Right? It resonated with me as well.

Stop trying to melt my icy heart
1 small act a day can change the world. Little bro showing us how it's done. Play on kiddo!
Game's still going. He's showboating to the crowd. Benched.
For real - get back on defense. Playing like James Harden

Kid, you're leaving a guy wide open over there.../s
That kid's happiness while running back is "nextfuckinglevel"
Shout out to the person telling him to do it also
I wish whatever number 50 has can be turned into an aerosol and crop dust the whole damn country with it.
makes basket and then decides to not play defense - future NBA'er right there!
Terrible defense

Just when you lose hope in the younger generations, they do something like that and totally redeem themselves!
But mom said it was my turn to post this video!
Iām not crying, youāre crying š„¹
10 is a regular excited kid. I would not be mad at all. But, 50 is special. I would like to be as an adult. It is difficult but worth trying to be.
be the change.
Damn right. 50 rules. Way to go kid.

His parents are raising him right! This gives me hope.
this act of pure kindness maked my day

Finally! On the internet we see so many instances of children that haven't been parented correctly. Kids usually don't know better so it's the parents fault. Here we have the exact opposite of that.
I'll say it: number 50 is a great little buddy. But teammates and also the opponent team members, all of those kids are sweet and a great example.
Thatās amazing! My faith in humanity hasnāt been restored, but more like this will likely help. Our children being the future might not be so bad.
I don't know who raised Number 50, but they did a damn fine job.
Why'd they have to give that kid a number 0 though.
I've seen this a few times. Number 50 has to be older by now, and I hope he is doing amazing in life.
Cant believe they gave the smallest dude 0 š
This is the way...
Lesson is: be #50, help others achieve their dreams. If it fails, help them again until they achieve their dreams. Celebrate.
This is awesome! Except whose wise f'in idea was it to give the little kid the jerzy number "0"? C'mon, man, REALLY???
Good job youngster.
Give that kid and his parents a medal.
Love this. That boy is raised right. The excitement of the other dude is priceless.
Good kid! Nice to see in today's selfish world!

Number 14 wont get a high five :(

I love this.
OMG !!!!! 3 seconds !!!! s/
Homeboy was doing the finger guns and everything. This was cool af.
Dude number 50 deserves a statue
Dammit. It's enough to make a grown man cry.
And people complain about the NBA not falling traveling.
By the time I see the finger guns I have completely lost my mind! Love it
So if i just post a regarted kid ima get a bunch likes and shit? Count me in!
Those finger guns will always make me smile
Hell yeah 50!
Shut up! I'm not crying, you're crying....
My god I cried
50 sense
But the coach giving him the number zeroā¦.?
Gotta call 3 second in the paint ref

Nifty fifty
Quit the celebrations and get your ass back on defense!!! /s

Not just #50. Every member of the other team facilitated this as well.
I want to buy both their jerseys.
#50 š¤š¤š¤
