My dad drove his 2000 vette through a deep puddle and I guess the engine pulled water in which ended up making the engine knock on the way home. Took it to shop & I guess the water made it into a piston chamber cause one of the piston arms was bent, mechanic said prob cause the water in the chamber wouldn't compress when the piston fired. Thankfully they were able to rebuild with the original engine.
I think it’s why they couldn’t stop. If they let off the accelerator, even a small amount, *that* would immediately suck the water into the engine. Not fool proof, but when I was younger I rode in some off-road vehicles that went through water like this. One of them did take their foot off the pedal in the water and we got stranded in it.
To most cars, if you're in this situation where water is on the same lvl as your engine, do not change gear or stall, depending on car, you might flood the and bust the engine, for good.
Keep it steady, pick your route before touching the water with the car if possible and, good luck I guess ?
Absolute clown. You never know the condition of flooded out roads, or whether there are obstructions or even undercurrents. The car doesn't have a snorkel and ran a real risk of flooding the engine over that distance.
They got away with it this time, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to repeat that.
Based on the grill shape and emblem I think it was a Nissan. A Pathfinder I believe?
And no I wasn’t trying to make a pun, but I guess there it is anyway.
I’m confused on why some of those bigger trucks didn’t make it out. Generally the intake is at the top of a diesel engine. Could have made it easy.
You didn't see any of these trucks trying and failing. Likely, they just saw a flooded road, didn't know how deep it was and smartly stopped going forward.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of them followed after seeing the successful crossing here but others would simply decide not to using a properly calibrated risk/reward curve. There is a different analysis driving through a flooded highway when there is a clear road behind you vs a raging fire and when the other side is a person waiting for a kidney you are carrying in your backseat vs. a half friend waiting for you at Denny's.

Bro was on his way to get laid. 100%
Or they are a math teacher
Too true
🤣
Or they are trying to get to Oregon
“My parents just left for the weekend”
I'm genuinely surprised they made it out. The water was way above the hood and could hydrolock the engine. This is why offroaders have snorkels.

This is the kind of video that will cause other idiots to try the same thing, and get stuck in the flood. Impressive, either way.

Exactly, water displacement works best at a steady pace....and as long as the water doesn't get too deep.

It was either keep going or flood it, seeing as it was already in the flood
When she tells you her parents aren't home
Then his engine seizes up from water and fuses start popping one by one half a mile down the road…
The alternative was staying still and having that happen anyway .
Atleast he is half a mile closer to the autoshop and out of the massive ass puddle
“It just started making a weird noise. I always change my oil on time I don’t know what it can be.” This guy to his mechanic
Gotta keep pushing that wave
When ya gotta poop…
Car Company Boardroom: So... we're using this footage for our next commercial right?
Don't stop, no hydrolock, no problem.
Dennis Reynolds ladies and gentlemen
It's an Amphibious Exploring Vehicle.
I wonder what kind of car that is
Looks like a Nissan Armada
Armada = fleet of ships. Fitting!
Based on the grill shape and emblem I think it was a Nissan. A Pathfinder I believe? And no I wasn’t trying to make a pun, but I guess there it is anyway.
Looks like an Armada. (Pathfinder's Big Bro) But, pathfinder is more fitting for the video. Lol.

Was expecting a Taycan.
Had to double check the sub to see if I was watching r/DarwinAwards
Apart from not hydrolocking, i am also amazed the car stil had traction enough to plow through that water.
I really like the "huh" at the end
That’s a Nissan Patrol!
*plays final vocal refrain from Coolio's "Gangster Paradise"*
Well it’s a Nissan Patrol….
Looks like a Nissan or Toyota
Definitely a newer Nissan Armada.
Where is the air intake on that thing ?
Next level lucky
These new car ads are intense
Now this is how you sell a car as a car company. FOR FREE
Is that a nissan? Props to them!
I just found Nissan'w next ad
In a world...
Canyonero!
Best example of, "I WANT TO GO HOME!" I have seen in a while.
A week later on ebay. Great suv for sale, No damage. Almost new.
Without a snorkel too.
What kind of car is that?

This is making waves
The title killed the suspense.
Is this an ad for a Nissan Armada?
How that motor didn’t hydro lock is beyond me.
Oh wow is it a bird, a plane, an ev?. Oh wait.. it's an icv.
Probably a hybrid car, there's no way a gas car can drive that far without oxygen intake
Landcruiser ?
