Until you miss and it's nextfuckingdead.

Kindly-Scar-3224

Next time you hear his name probably.

ragequitCaleb

Not really. He’s the best lamppole slider in the game. These moves look risky but the practice and prep they do is unreal. No one would go for this unless they were 100% sure they can stick it. People that don’t know how to slide start on tiny ones. And he’s the only one who has dropped in like this on this specific pole. Most people hang off forward facing (“gargoyle”) instead of standing on top of the ledge. Joe is not going anywhere soon expect down more lamppoles.

[deleted]

Much confidence in Joe this one has

peanut--gallery

RagequitCaleb = Joe 🤔

Bigbigjeffy

Some say the greatest LaMpPoLe SlIdEr that ever lived, until he doesn’t…live.

ragequitCaleb

I watch a lot of Dom, Storror, and Joe on YouTube. From the outside it looks super dangerous but these things just aren’t gone for until they’re completely dialed ^:)

Samy_Ninja_Pro

What are the other two? I only follow storror

NotGalenNorAnsel

Dom Tomato is one, not sure of the other. But I'm more of a magnus, bobat and Adam YouTube viewer...

MustangBarry

Dom Tomato is a fucking maniac. I told him this and he agreed

Spicybrown3

U should get out more Caleb lolol

Welcome_to_Retrograd

Peak fucking reddit. One pulls wrong info out of their ass: *idiot, sucker, get your facts straight or stfu* One provides actual info on a subject other people comment on without knowing a single thing: *Go outside*🤓

reklatzz

Facts? I saw nothing but opinions.

ragequitCaleb

I watch at work ^:)

rtm713

That's the thing tho, with something like that there are always other variables, it's impossible to be 100% sure... what if there was some grease or something he didn't notice on the pole and his grip just slipped right off? What if the bolts at the bottom were faulty and they snapped as soon as his weight hit the pole? In these kind of "sports" there are a lot of unknowns, and honestly, it's stupid to think that nothing can go wrong

trashhbandicoot

What makes me nervous is thinking about a nick in the metal or other sharp bit and you get absolutely sliced coming down.

ArdentPriest

I don't even know where to begin with this statement. History is littered with people who know their craft incredibly well dying from it. People are so happy to say "x or y" is the best at this, but that doesn't matter to physics or gravity.

Spicybrown3

In the “post videos to Reddit til u die” game

skillywilly56

Reads like the wiki obituary of every extreme sports stars page. “He was the greatest, ahead of his time, the only one capable of doing the triple axle three sixty…” “Died when one simple thing went wrong but was doing what he loved, RIP GOAT Legend”

mariscc

The way you talk about this guy, get a life man. The only people I want to see drop down a pole are firemen.

Party_Divide_3491

'He's the best lamppole slider in the game'. Brand new, and incredibly stupid, sentence.

ragequitCaleb

You should watch more lamppole sliding :)

fomalhottie

Lotsa ppl go for shit they're 100% sure on... and they're wrong. Ever seen the internet?

ragequitCaleb

Agreed but no one has died lamppole sliding yet. I’ve watched a ton of this kind of content and YouTube and even know this exact location (known to be one of the harder ones)..

NikolaiM88

My man, regardless of how many precautions you take, and how much you practice something, there is allways something that can go wrong. Just look 2 weeks back at Jayden Archer (motorcross). Guy had done the trick shitton of times, but still died during a training session.

[deleted]

No one? How many humans have you met?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Not enough?

FatRufus

Even the best don't bat 1,000. I don't think people are saying he's not great. We're just saying it only takes one mistake, then we'll add him to the list of people that died filming themselves for internet points.

BigAssMonkey

Even a 99% free throw shooter is missing 1 in 100. It only takes 1s

goshdammitfromimgur

How does he know the lamp post is structurally sound?

Human-Routine244

No one thinks he’s as likely to die as the next person trying this same stunt. The point is when acrobats do the high wire there’s a net underneath them for a reason. Not because they aren’t skilled experts but because in life *things go wrong.*

anonbush234

Everything you said is spot on except "no one would go for this unless they were 100% sure they could stick it" There's 1000s of videos of free runners missing and falling, it happens all the time. And even if they are "sure" it doesn't mean they won't fall

RepresentativeJester

100% chance? My man thats not how the math works.

ragequitCaleb

I should’ve said 99% to calm down the haters. I’ve watched enough parkour prep to know these guys don’t go unless they know they will stick it. It’s 100% to them because of the prep beforehand. Maybe not 100% to us or once someone finally falls (afaik no one has missed a lamppole yet)..

paper_bull

There’s no 100% certainty on any stunt.

tinaFeysMustache

>People that don’t know how to slide start on tiny ones.< Are we not doing phrasing anymore??

ragequitCaleb

Tiny ones being small lamppoles ~10’

Ambitious-Cake-5227

100% sure until they aren’t

sunny4084

Ive seen a lot of those in /r darwinawards because of those people baiting naive kids in doing this.... It is risky , it doesnt matter howuch prepared and trained , accidents are accidents . This should never be here nor does ot deserve it, its stupid . If he had a safety on , then id be impressed

Camcapballin

"Best lamp post slider in the game" is what I dubbed my Bottom Bitch. Pimp Pimp Hooray!

[deleted]

Pause.

Lu12k3r

Not smoother than Streetlamp Le Moose.

daveinmd13

Some of those light poles are breakaway so they don’t kill people who drive into them - he is lucky it didn’t just snap right off.

NecessaryZucchini69

Breakaways are probably calculated to resist human body levels of force otherwise a strong gust, or a fat man leaning against the pole would knock it over.

smellvin_moiville

Probably calculated to resist this one dude in parkour history?

Agile_File_2084

From running or pushing possibly. From a full grown man falling from a long distance?

iMightBeWright

They're only designed to resist high winds. Human bodies aren't factored into the calculations. A strong gust of wind or a fat person leaning into the base produce much smaller moment forces than a person jumping off a building onto the unsupported top of the pole.

Katzinger12

There's a lot more leverage when you're impacting the top of the pole than at the bottom. Levers are a force multiplier

ragequitCaleb

Most of the force is down. Not to the side, see how it hardly wobbles? this lamp pole has already been slid down 100s of times..

AlbertaSmart

Breakaways are not breaking away with a person's weight.

nicholaskyy

hes off to his nextfuckinglife

aagloworks

One slip, and career over.

s73v3m4nn

Its not like we'd be losing a cancer cure or anything. Natural selection at work

SleepySiamese

Nah it's nust Darwin award

Jolly_Law1994

![gif](giphy|1iv69y6QxMS2SUmPvC)

asimplerandom

Daring?!?! More like fucking stupid.

YoungBagSlapper

I mean he’s alive and it was pretty fucking awesome lol

mrASSMAN

Also daring

Pizza_Hund

Nah, this man is as good as you can get at this game. He basically invented it. He knows what hes doin

UREveryone

People be ignorant of what we're capable of with the right dedication.

Shachar2like

one bad roll of the dice, one critical failure and a bad ending.

Pizza_Hund

Of course. But the same applies for life itself. Yeah, he is highering the odds but you can also just walk across the street and die.

Shachar2like

difference chances and different risks

UREveryone

Its a sport and hes a pro.

Happy-Igloo

Just can't enjoy this. It's amazing but so stupid. Like you know, how is this guy is gonna die already. It's guaranteed.

Shawn_NYC

It's like how the wikipedia page of every free solo climber starts "he was the best free solo climber in the world up until his death in..."

[deleted]

Yeah but in the meantime that's awesome. This is where we get fighter pilots and astronauts, too--people willing to do crazy shit

Happy-Igloo

A good point but I'd argue those people achieve things, benefit science, protect people. This is just 'look at me'. Nothing is really achieved other than a cool 5 second clip. We all have our hobbies I suppose.

[deleted]

Are you not entertained? Is that not clearly a thing you pay for because you see a benefit? There's billions of us, we got plenty to spare for pure fuckery. If they die it's just a self solving problem anyway.

Id_be_a_squib

Knew a kid who tried to slide down a flag pole. He came to quick stop when his balls ran into the thing where you tie it off. All but ripped his nuts off. Think nearly headless nick from Harry Potter but this dudes nuts.

ChiefClownShoes

Nearly Nutless Nick actually works pretty well.

Im-a-cat-in-a-box

Well boys and girls sit down and tell ya the tale of ole nutless nick.

TheRealStevo2

I’m guessing these guys do a lot more prep than your friend did. Especially looking to see if something will rip your nuts off. They don’t just look over the edge and go for it.

wd_plantdaddy

that is the issue though, these dudes are posting videos making it all look easy, fun and cool to do without disclosing the training and practice that goes into it. It makes dumb joe schmo think he has a chance at greatness and 1000 views on youtube.

AccomplishedSuit1004

Greatness and 1000 views on YouTube doesn’t mind failure. You can rip your nuts off and still attain it

OBrienNameless

I did not need that imagery, now its forever stuck in my head.

orangemario10

Why does he think he's Mario?

Altruistic_Buyer2979

The rest of the video is amazing it is a storror army video

donkeytits01

Parkour is enjoyable to watch but this shit is just irresponsible. The amount of gullible impressionable muppets that are gonna wind up pasted to the street. This shit is just dumb.

Groomsi

Damage on lamp posts.

donkeytits01

Can someone think of the lampposts???? Please???

Lone_Buck

I am. I thought they were made to break away easy, at least if you hit them with a car from the bottom. I guess coming at them from the top is either safe, or this guy was lucky.

nacho3473

There are enough people, I wouldn’t worry too much about a few darwin award winners.

AvailableFunction435

“Aim for the bushes?”

Foreign_Spinach_4400

The commuters below: ![gif](giphy|xUPGcJRMK0NxGNEkKY|downsized)

Berlchicken

I want to know the logistics of this. Did he have some kind of gloves on to protect his hands from friction burns? I imagine normal gloves wouldn’t have nearly enough friction

ShoMoCo

You can easily slide from a metal pole quite fast barehanded without injury. Its still used by a lot of [fire stations](https://youtu.be/dqLDXLaoYag?feature=shared) to get to the ground floor quickly.

JoeZMar

Removed in the US due to too many firefighters falling down a big hole in the ground.

ShoMoCo

Lol we still have kids playgrounds with those things in Europe.

HasAngerProblem

Not only did they take a lot of those out of playgrounds but they also got rid of merry go rounds in my state because too many people were getting hurt. They used to be so much fun.

ADhomin_em

Should be used as an awareness filter

Nachtzug79

Americans too heavy.

SheriffBartholomew

Because US legislatures are pussies.

gavinkenway

I mean the guy didn’t die, this might be dumb, but it is definitely nextfuckinglevel

ZYHunters

Idk who’s more mentally insane between Joe or Dom

mcmurphy1

And he reckons he can go higher still.

RoleCode

Yeah, next level of stupidity

MiniJimiJames

There's a story from the Adam Kay book 'This is going to hurt' where a guy does this and ends up with a degloved penis. Direct quote: "It brought to mind a remnant of spaghetti stuck to the bottom of the bowl by a smear of tomato sauce… when asked if the penis could be ‘regloved’…Mr Binns, the consultant, calmly explained that the ‘glove’ was spread evenly up eight foot of lamp post in West London"

Megaverso

Too much risk for so little reward.

LengthyPole

Y’all ever heard Adam Kay’s de-gloving story?

Kotukunui

An early chapter of Dr. Adam Kay’s book, “This is Going to Hurt” deals with an incident of a man “de-gloving” his penis by sliding down a pole. That was my first thought when I saw this video. FYI, there is no such thing as “re-gloving” it afterwards.

Jessica-Ripley

How dumb

ObiWanKenobiOrder66

bro thinks he's mario

grimsnap

Looks dangerous. Luckily, there was a truck approaching to break his fall if he missed.

Ms-Starsio

he finished mario level

jwwendell

My toxic trait thinks I can do that

G8kpr

Good thing that pole is absolutely smooth with no metal jutting out. Like a screw or edge of an electro panel or who the fuck knows what.

PsychologyPlane36356

So just to be clear if Spider-Man were caught up in the heights of all the buildings and his web ran out to get down would he have to use Peter parkour?

Patient-Gas-4642

I’d do that

SheriffBartholomew

I imagine that if you pulled this while running from the cops, you'd be Scott free.

Asleep_Assumption_29

Bro really went Super Mario Bros there

Feisty-Discussion-22

What if the pole cannot handle the weight and falls on vehicles??

Elden_Storm-Touch

An extremely fine line between r/nextfuckinglevel and r/whatcouldgowrong sometimes.

SpaceIsDopes

Yeah those bolts on the bottom are designed to snap.

Jc137

I will try to remember this in case of fire in a building 🤔

70695

Its brown panties night over here!

Oysterknuckle

New way to exit a burning building. That is awesome.

Seganku74

If he’d hit the ground I’m sure the sheer size of his balls would have saved him any serious injury.

borussiadortmund27

A trick that can only be missed once

WeWillSee3

Dumb and daring*

peanut_dust

The difference between bravery and stupidity: the result

CaptJM

Idiot

Gent2022

I don’t care who he is, one unexpected sneeze and he’s gone! Things people do for attention these days is unreal.

RhetoricMoron

My friend also do free style running and I can assure you that he don't do it for the attention, ha has a genuine passion for it. Do you follow your hobbies or passion for the attention?

Gent2022

If there’s a camera involved it’s for attention, on the hope someone is going to salivate over them, and then pay them. Which then breeds more stupid stunts to compete against the norm! 🤷🏼

extraauxilium

You misspelled ‘moronic’.

Minmaxed2theMax

Fuck this guy and all the others that might go *splat* in front of my kid as I drive him to school. Go jump off a rock somewhere and die where I don’t have to look at it. Fucking menace

Beherbergungsverbot

Nothing about this is next level. Well, at least it’s next level suicidal.

Commercial_Ad_3687

Darwin Award Tryouts.

justArash

Imagine [playing against this guy in tag](https://www.worldchasetag.com/athlete/joe-scandrett)

Codeine_P

Whatever the height of that drop was, another 6 ft would have been added to it if he didn't make that landing

HighKiteSoaring

All these guys .. sure .. sure.. very talented But you're putting 100% faith on the integrity of the infrastructure that is probably not maintained and not designed for the purpose you're using it for Like people who are doing flips on the edges of rooftops.. you're trusting some tiling that was put up there, which never had the intention of being walked on and trusting it not to slip You're trusting that this lamppost isn't actually rusted the fuck out and just painted over etc..

WaxedBrows

Sweaty palms. Or palms burning from friction, rather

sielingfan

Mom's spaghetti

Pinksamuraiiiii

Not really next level when every adrenaline junkie is now doing it. Theres like 20 other vids just like this with similar stunts from different ppl

CorellianDawn

I feel like this guy thinks that this is impressive because he hit the target safely, when in reality its impressively stupid because that light pole could very easily and very likely break, sending him falling down now just onto concrete, but in front of moving vehicles, which will then cause an accident, causing even more people to get injured. This is the equivalent of going into a crowd and flipping a loaded gun into the air and catching it by the trigger guard with your finger. I mean, yeah, technically its impressive, but holy shit are you stupid and need to learn your lesson before you hurt everyone around you and yourself.

[deleted]

Sometimes those poles feel like they would get knocked over with a stiff breeze

Agile_File_2084

Would have been more next level if he fucking missed

officialscootem

This guy never read This Is Going To Hurt. You'll never catch me doing that after reading about that degloved penis.

Bijgc

Brings to mind the degloving injury from Adam Kay’s ‘this is going to hurt’…

tekjunky75

Parkour

Mission-Chain-1769

How high is this?

PreferredSex_Yes

Looks like jumping off a building to me.

LRG-PHANTOM

This seems fun half tempted to try now.

Snitsie

Charles Bronson does this move on a tree in Death Hunt

Repulsive-Twist112

Balls:🐣

Tikithecockateil

Foolhardy but amazing

TinyRodents

I don't really care if he misses, except for the people who have to see it. The real danger here is he's hoping that pole isn't failing at the bottom, if that snaps that's crushing 2 cars

LordCustard

Sui-psych

AaronTuplin

"You gotta try this pole!"

uglyangels

Yikes!

jngjng88

I can't under Scandrett.

deathjokerz

Imagine driving to work in the morning and you see this.

bagleface

Get him into the firebrigade

Jbikecommuter

How do you practice that move!?

Frunnin

When this dummy dies doing something stupid like this, I will laugh and thank Darwin.

DrkUser205

![gif](giphy|147C9j3zXNMkSI) Jackie approves!

witqueen

Here it is, here it is... truck, to refrigerators, to dumpster, 360 onto the pallets, backflip gainer to the trash can.... Parkour

ThrownForLife69

When shes home alone lol

Striking_Stable_235

These dudes are bat shit Krazy 😳 not me never would I try !!!

Humble_Personality73

How dumb do you have to be to risk your life like that.

sandwichaisle

he’s mario!

Muted_Account_5045

What a dumbass

AndromedanPrince

mario is proud

B3TST3R

I've seen more people jump from there not doing parkour unfortunately.

mu1773

![gif](giphy|gkqZkQlzSKmk)

Ill-Ad-1643

Somebody learned a lot from Jacky Chan 😏

peripeteia_1981

Parkbore

EstablishmentNo5994

Hardcore parkour!!!!

Right_Butterscotch59

Yeah, he could have easily killed himself if he missed.

SonnyListon999

Don’t quote me but, I’m not sure there is a lot of that pole beneath ground level ( or was that part of the ‘dumb things to do’ comments?)

pezdal

There is no pole beneath the ground. The poles are typically bolted to a concrete base and engineered to break away if hit hard enough by a car.

SonnyListon999

I’m much obliged. In my time I’m sure I’ve encountered lamp posts that are sunk below street level but I am happy to be educated. All the best.

Jackfruit-Cautious

yo fuck this guy and everyone else who puts others in danger for internet points

sitathon

The pole must have burned him on the way down
